Good morning from wet and dark s somerset
Boiler service yesterday and I had noticed a bit of weepy water, told the plumber and he found that two seals needed replacing, very much a stitch in time in this case. We could not find the external electric boiler switch, there was not one anywhere in the boiler vicinity, yet another omission by the house builder, there had to be a switch to turn boiler electrics off
I sent him off to his next overdue appointment, I checked the `water heater` trip switch and that would have done the job, crudely. However later I went to bed and slept fitfully, waking at 12.30 with a whizzy mind. Decided to get up, stood on the sink unit with a mirror on a stick to peer down the top of the tall boiler cupboard. No switch anywhere
I examined fittings in my hall cupboard containing pipes and manifold and lots of wires. Took a shelf off and there was a switch, tested it and that was it. It turned the boiler off. I slept for a full 7 hours after that. I am miffed at the builder though, we should all have been told things like this, it is a legal requirement. Old builder is in hospital or I would tell him, I will leave him in peace and be grateful that I found it
Plumber /engineer has ordered the seals, local and such a nice person, we had his dad before him and now they have a good size business.
Iris and her sister did extraordinarily well, what a very kind act
Today I am indoors, knitting, reading and will make currant buns, I will light some candles this afternoon, to lighten the autumnal dreary gloom
Have a good day
