It was bad last night and was gone midnight before I could sleep. Winds were forecast at 60mph. We have lost a ridge tile which isn't too bad but so much damage to our trees - several small ones gone completely and a fairly big one next door landed on our wall but luckily no damage. Not clearing up until the storm finishes this evening.

Very windy here last night, but nothing that unusual. However I was speaking to a friend in Ireland (Co. Clare) yesterday, and she said it was horrendous - sheโ€™d had to go out and could barely stand in the ferocious wind.

PS, the wind has really picked up here now (outer SW London) - I suspect that a local heavily wooded Royal Park will be closed, ditto very likely Kew Gardens.

It's very windy here today but bright and sunny after the rain.

Lashing it down at the moment and has been windy all day. I think Iโ€™ll cook some comfort food this afternoon. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Tizliz Sat 04-Oct-25 13:34:28

not cooking anything - already had one power cut. SSEN are providing hot food vans, how do you find where they are if you don't have power ๐Ÿ™„

Allira Sat 04-Oct-25 13:38:19

It's getting greater here.

We have power, just baked two cakes, I'd send you one if I could, Tizliz.

Tizliz Sat 04-Oct-25 15:22:49

my address is .........

Allira Sat 04-Oct-25 15:27:18

I'm just going to test one to see if it's ok, Tizliz ๐Ÿ˜€

Tizliz Sat 04-Oct-25 16:47:35

of course, wouldn't want you sending out below par goods ๐Ÿ˜‚

Allira Sat 04-Oct-25 17:39:42

It has DH's seal of approval ๐Ÿ˜

Crossstitchfan Sat 04-Oct-25 17:44:12

Please could I have one as well, Allira?

Oreo Sat 04-Oct-25 17:49:00

And me! Mind you that leaves no cakes for Mr and Mrs Allira but it would be a kind deed.๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚

Such windy weather, blew over and broke one of my pots in the yard, but seems to be dying down just now and rain stopped.

grandMattie Sat 04-Oct-25 17:53:40

Wind died down a bit but itโ€™s started to drizzle.

Ziplok Sat 04-Oct-25 18:09:30

The rain has eased off for now here, but itโ€™s still quite windy. Weโ€™ve had some heavy downpours throughout the day and the strong breeze made the 14 degree C temperature feel much cooler.

BlueBelle Sat 04-Oct-25 18:11:46

East Anglia just windy some off and on rain nothing particularly out of the ordinary everyone still going about their business
Nothing big here and supposed to be passed by tomorrow anyway

Crossstitchfan Sat 04-Oct-25 18:11:57

This afternoon in East Kent, the harbour is like a millpond and the sky is blue! Still windy but no more rain ๐Ÿคž

My entire patio is covered in a thick layer of cider apples, tomorrow will be hard work clearing them all up, but the wind has dropped to normal here in Wales now.

I watched my recycling bins fly up the road.
A guy walking past rescued them and weighted them down with bricks .
I had trouble getting home from church flower arranging today (no buses again )and had to walk under some magnificent trees .
I thought that their huge branches could fall on me.

Gwyllt Sat 04-Oct-25 21:22:32

Itโ€™s always a relief when our trees still have all their branches
Blown down a lot of chestnuts which are worth the picking this year

Tizliz Sat 04-Oct-25 21:25:32

Still 50mph here but so far no more damage and no power cuts. Think clearing up will have to wait until Monday donโ€™t want a branch hitting me (husband not me as I have a slipped disc), some of the branches are buried inches into the ground.

DamaskRose Sun 05-Oct-25 10:10:43

The wind is just as strong as yesterday here in the north east of Scotland but no rain. Over night we can see the field through the trees behind us as so many have lost their leaves.

When life gives you cider apples, do you make cider?

There was a tree down on the motorway, no injuries and it wasn't right across the carriageway.
