Storm Amy

It was bad last night and was gone midnight before I could sleep. Winds were forecast at 60mph. We have lost a ridge tile which isn't too bad but so much damage to our trees - several small ones gone completely and a fairly big one next door landed on our wall but luckily no damage. Not clearing up until the storm finishes this evening.

What is annoying us the most at the moment is that the side gate slammed and the key has fallen out into a huge pile of leaves and we can't find it.

Tried to post a photo but not working - are we banned from posting photos again?

We were in the middle of the north season the Rotterdam to Hull ferry.

We avoided 🤮with very good medication.

It wasn’t for the faint hearted!

OMG! My idea of hell, you poor things. What medication stopped you being seasick, please? I can’t find one that works.

I purchased it at a French pharmacy.
It’s called RCalm.
It’s active ingredient is dymenhydrinate.

It's a glorious day today, the calm after the storm!
Blue skies, no wind - just when the children are back to school.

Now into second day of clear up. Neighbour is currently on our roof fixing the ridge tiles - he's a diamond.

In the south of Denmark the storm was a great deal less ferocious than we had been warned to expect.

I did however see one tree that had blown down when I cycled to Mass yesterday, but otherwise there has been no damage.

I do wish meterologists would drop this "cute" habit of giving storms human names, or any other kind of name. I find it intensly irritating.

Areas that were badly affected can just as well remember this storm as the storm of October 5th 2025 as as Amy.

I feel lucky in N Cambs. We seem to get weather coming down to S Lincs (esp. snow) or up to Cambridge, and we are the sunny dry and better in the gap in the middle.

I did get a heavy rain (for herre) and lose a rather worn garden screen, but it is 30+ years' old, and we had a few trees on the road down, but much discussion about lack of council maintenance. I have a line full of washing out in the sun, with a light wind today.

Best wishes to all

There has been huge damage in the West of Norway, buildings taken down, and ships being blown away from their moorings, so I think that you had a narrow escape, Sago.
People qualified to work at height will be very busy with trees for quite some time to come.
Christmas lights in towns will be a little later this year...

Have you tried Stugeron? It worked well for my friend on a sea cruise.

Sorry for late reply. Thank you for the info. Unfortunately, I don’t get to France now but years ago, I went regularly because part of my job was to oversee our French office there. I bought quite a few medications over there, one of which was called ‘Expace’, (later renamed as ‘Vipace’). It was the only thing that actually cleared up cold sores quickly. Sadly, it doesn’t appear to be available now (family visiting France have searched for it), which is a pain. It would clear the sores in three days as opposed to the usual 8-10. Nothing here gives the same result.

Found the gate key! It was exactly where I expected but we had cleared the leaves and raked the gravel, no where to be found. Then yesterday it was just lying there.

Funnily enough, I have just tried it and it works! Yay! I am not at the moment travelling across the channel, but when I do, I shall use it. I need travel pills even on a half hour journey, I am that bad!
Many thanks!

Stugeron makes travel possible for me.
