Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and a bit sunny. We are off to the Christie at noon for an afternoon of iv chemotherapy plus an iron infusion for Himself as the Professor has deemed him strong enough to be given more treatment. He’s apprehensive after having sepsis in August. I’m just my usual anxious self who will be monitoring him for side effects. It’s very stressful but we know to be grateful for this next chance of life.

I'm very glad Marydoll that it went so well yesterday, after the initial scary journey.

It's such a lovely hospital isn't it. I had my new hip there. I mostly took the train to appointments as the short walk from the station is less stressful than the drive, even using sat nav!

dragonfly46 Tue 07-Oct-25 09:24:34

I hope it goes well this afternoon FGT

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and grey Northampton, but it will be dry so two loads of washing are on the cards.

All ready at 8am yesterday morning for the carpet fitters, and of.course they didn't arrive until after 9! Two very.unhappy cats were safely corralled in the kitchen, cue cross looks at me through the glass door....

New carpet down and all finished by 10.30, with instructions not to vacuum till the afternoon. It looks lovely, but much lighter than I thought, but I am sure I will get used to it.
Spent the afternoon putting things to rights - I did a lot of re-organising of clothes and bedding storage, and also decided to put all suitcases in the garage, as they take up so much space. Summer and winter wardrobes swapped over, and everything now nicely in its place.
I need to vacuum the staircase this morning as lots of new carpet fluff seems to have found its way there.

Early lunch then out to join my walking group.
Cottage pie for tea - the mince is thawing in the fridge and I just have to prepare the mashed potato topping, and bake.

So pleased there was good news for Marydoll !

Bellasnana, how lovely.for you to have more GN meet-ups! Can I book myself in for October next year please? I am on another.cruise, to Croatia this time, and Malta is again on my itinerary; it was lovely to meet you in April this year.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Thank you for your best wishes. I stopped posting on this thread sometime ago but still regard you all as friends and really need some support right now.

Cressy Tue 07-Oct-25 09:31:32

And breathe!! That goes for us all I suspect. Good to hear the news Marydoll. I can now get on with my day. And whilst I am actually posting I just want to say thank you to all who post. This thread is the first thing I look at when I wake up. ❤️

I have just read the thread since I posted and I’m delighted in your news Marydoll. The relief over health issues when given good news is beyond rubies isn’t it? To be honest I had a good feeling about your diagnosis when you told us a few days ago that you had gained some weight. 👏

Grammaretto Tue 07-Oct-25 09:34:23

I am wishing you both well for today FGT

Whenever we went for our hospital trips we'd try, if he felt up to it, to do something else afterwards such as seeing a film at our favourite cinema or perhaps a short walk in a new part of the city. I used to sit in the garden of the Maggies Centre while he had infusions and strike up conversations with other sufferers.
Not always possible I know, but it helped me.

Grandmabatty Tue 07-Oct-25 09:34:49

Marydoll I'm glad it isn't cancer. Definitely rest today though. Dragonfly my best wishes for to you and your DH.

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Engineer yesterday to sort out faulty smoke alarm plus house alarm. Lots of things in the house have decided to gang up on me at the same time.

I got on with making various appointments and booking things I had left, although I felt queasy, under the weather and a sore throat. Hope it was a one off as I’m off to the music club this afternoon to sing. The note bashing for the opera co. is tiresome, but has to be done.

DD has booked The Nutcracker in London for December and my sister there has now booked a ticket, so that’s something to look forward to.

Thoughts to FGT dragonfly and all🌺

Paddyann, so nice to see you posting. I did think of you, when DH was driving the tour bus. At one point I was sure we were going to end up in Dumbarton 😉.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 07-Oct-25 09:43:19

Oh dragonfly. I truly empathise with your fear. It lurks just below the surface here every day now. It’s draining and exhausting to worry so. I hope you get reassurance too, as Marydoll did. ✌️

Grandmadinosaur Tue 07-Oct-25 09:51:59

Thoughts and hugs to the FGTs too today

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire. It was a beautiful day here yesterday and MrB and I enjoyed 2 walks down to the river. He took a picture of me standing at the top of the Dock gates.

I am so very glad to read your results Marydoll, what a weight off your mind.

Good morning from a dreich Kent! What wonderful news Marydoll. Your family will be so relieved too - and maybe they will look after you for a change!
I had colonoscopies which showed that I have diverticular disease which sometimes flares into diverticulitis, that is the worst pain ever, I have fainted with it on occasion. I had paramedics once it was so bad. Touch wood, haven’t had an episode for a few years. Maybe a legacy from 25 years of undiagnosed food intolerance- I had such a lot of time off school and left teacher training college because of the constant stomach and gut issues. No problem now as long as I don’t eat pork or any of its derivatives.
I am still watching for a rheumatologist appointment to try and get on top of polymyalgia. Yesterday was a wipeout as we had our jabs on Sunday, I was floored.
Hope everyone has a good day 🌼

Blossoming Tue 07-Oct-25 11:13:15
