Good morning from Malta.
We had a great day yesterday. Thanks, *bellasnana” re. length of ferry journey - Itwas fine, although I had taken many necessary precautions. We only had a light shower on the boat, while both Malta and Gozo had a great deal of rain while we were out of one or other.
The visits to various places (Neolithic, calypso’s cave, citadel, etc.)were very interesting and enjoyable. But, boy, was I hot and sticky!
We had a lovely lunch of “ftiri” (?) flat bread with tuna and salad, which was incredibly cheap. And I got myself a pair of fish earrings - I collect them…
The return ferry wasn’t so nice, as people in groups were being very aggressive and sharp elbowed. Rush hour traffic too, so I was very tired by the time we got back.
Last full day today, the north of the island, I think. The place where a bomb went through a church roof but didn’t explode.
Safe journey to the travellers, safe day to the “mountaineers”.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning Mick and all who follow. Dark and pavements are damp likely due to overnight fog again.
Today would have been our 58th wedding anniversary.
Nothing planned for today
Have a good day everyone.
Comino crusader castle used as “chateau d’If” in count of monte cristo.
Calypso’s bay/cave.
Good morning from Nogent le Bernard in La Sarthe where I haven’t yet assessed the weather as the shutters are closed.
Sunshine broke through by late afternoon yesterday as we enjoyed an easy drive from Ouistreham following a smooth crossing on the beautiful Guillaume de Normandie. She is new this year to the Brittany Ferries fleet and one of two hybrid ships being powered by LNG and marine diesel oil. Her interior is well appointed, resembling a boutique hotel, with thoughtful provision for the disabled.
It sounds like you’re having the full Maltese experience, grandMattie; have you ridden on the local buses yet? Unforgettable! Lovely photo of you and Bellasnana!
Our main task today is to fetch the two cats from the cattery. No doubt some caterwauling will accompany our journey back!
Have a good day, wherever you are! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
A day of poignant memories, harrigran. 💐
Good morning from Malta where a cloudy day is forecast with a high of 25°C.
Glad you enjoyed your day in Gozo, grandMattie and hope you will enjoy Mosta and Mdina today.
I managed to avoid the floods yesterday and picked up my pal from the airport. We offloaded her luggage and sat out a heavy shower before going to stock up on food, and then we chatted for the rest of the day.
Not sure what we are doing today, will see where she wants to go.
Grandmabatty I was so relieved for you when I saw your results had been favourable. You must have been so anxious waiting for news.
Harrigran 💐💐
Ashcombe the lovely old buses we used to have are long gone, sadly. The new ones are just the usual electric buses that you see everywhere.😞. Good luck with les chats!😸😸
Wishing a good day to all.☀️
Good morning from cloudy and dismal s somerset
It is not going to be a cheery day outside so I will make it cheery inside, candles at the ready. I might nip out and buy some sugar to make blackcurrant jam, which will give me quite a bit of space in a freezer drawer. I top my jam with a tsp of gin and it will then last under the airtight seal and in kilner jars, for years. I love my blackcurrant jam and these will be the last home-picked blackcurrants, ever
I am taking myself on a local trip tomorrow, probably by car as the bus is very slow, then the boiler will be repaired on thursday
There are a few things to pass onto dd in Wales, I am driving there soon and am starting to gather bits in case I do a bit of last-minute forgetting. My newish Leifheit spin mop is one, I realised lately that I am preferring my e cloth mop, which just hangs on a door and takes minimal space. She has family and pets so the spin mop will be better for her. Good cake tins, I have too many, I asked and she said yes please
Gansey sleeve knitting is boring but at least I will not have any seams to sew up. The jumper on my lap is warm and something I could not do during hot weather. While knitting I am watching the Penmarric series, appreciating being a woman today and not during those days when women had no voice
Have a good day
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and slightly misty. Thank you all who commented on my posts yesterday regarding my results and to those who sent me messages. They were all much appreciated. Ashcombe the cats will enjoy being back. GrandMattie it sounds like you are packing a lot into your trip. Bellasnana enjoy having your friend with you.
Yesterday the boys were very good and played nicely until I took them to their other grandparents. The phonecall from the clinic relieved my mind a great deal! In the afternoon, I went back to bed for a couple of hours. Needless to say, I hadn't slept much the previous night.
Today I'll have the boys again. Soft play this morning to tire them out, then they will be decorating biscuits with icing and Halloween stuff. I expect at least one will be eaten. We might collect leaves and make a painting. I'll put on the film, Hocus Pocus in the afternoon. Dgs2 loves it. Then drop them off at dinner time. Have a good day all
Good morning from the Essex coast.
I believe today will be grey and cloudy.
DH is 70 today, we are celebrating with a meal out tonight, we had family celebrations at the weekend.
A visit to the bank first thing and I'm sure coffee will feature as well.
Thinking of all with mountains to climb and hurdles to overcome, best wishes to all xx
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
Our gardener is coming today. We have some pruning to do and bulbs to plant.
We are having a beef pie tonight. I’ll cook the meat this morning as I’m out at friends this afternoon and need to have the pie ready to eat by 6.30 pm. I will whip the pastry up in my food processor. OH is out this evening hence the need for an early dinner.
I seem to have an ulcer on the roof of my mouth, which is annoying. I am gargling with Cortisol.
Have a good day. I hope MaryD is feeling better and I’m thinking of the FGT2S.
Sar a happy birthday to your DH.
Good morning Michael and all GNs from a still dark South Yorkshire, but at least it’s not misty. Driving to the gym early was a pain, with patches of fog on the dual carriageway. I dropped off my living room curtains to be dry cleaned on the way home. Fortunately they will match the new colour scheme so I shalln’t have to buy new ones.
I had a long telephone conversation in the afternoon with my best friend who had her hip replaced four weeks ago. She is now walking without crutches or a stick and is back to leading her usual busy lifestyle. She’s 86. I shall drive over and see her next week - when she can fit me in😂! She puts me to shame.
School volunteering this afternoon. Hopefully it will be dry enough to walk to school and back.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Morning from a very dark but mild E.Devon.
Off to Bristol today to visit friends for a few days. Not seen them for almost a year, so looking forward to seeing them.
Take care all.
Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark morning, havent even been able to see what the weather is like. Creaking rather a lot at the moment so just getting myself moving around, but lovely nightingale on radio 3 and now good signal for 3 so happy to have that to listen to whilst I get ready for the off. Am going up to northwest for a couple of days and hope for the dry weather (promised but who knows?) and will enjoy the lovely autumn colours and hope there are a few leaves to be able to scuffle through , which I love doing. I was a reasonably virtuous child, especially being expected to both look after my next sister and to "set a good example to her" but one thing I could never resist, was seeing a lovely pile of leaves collected up by the park people. It just asked to be jumped into and of course so we did, and when they came back from their morning break there would be a half demolished pile to restore!!
My son started his new job yesterday, and I sent him a good luck email but not heard back from him yet so hoping it has all gone well. I feel creaky but a bit more rested this moring, which is good news, and as I am going off, dont need to think of shopping or anything else so rather a free morning. I will have my phone with me so can hopefully keep up with what you are all doing but probably not get much signal to send any posts.
GrandMattie you sound as though you are filling every moment and how nice to have met Bellasnana. You will need another holiday to recuperate from this one when you get back! Harrigran you will have so many memories today. It is so bittersweet to think of lovely times you have spent together and you now have to soldier on alone. Sometimes I get a little shock when I do or see something and realize that it is something that I had not shared with my husband, and slowly things alter so that the things shared are less. But you will always have your memories of times together to enjoy and remember. Karmalady , I have made jams quite successfully but never thought of adding gin to the tops. Might try it myself one day, but of course, now I live alone and am diabetic so dont have the need to make jam these days. Grandmabatty, glad you have had good news and can relax today, but it takes few days to let the stress go doesnt it. Well hope everyone has a good day and the weather is kind to us all. Safe journeys to the travellers and enjoy what you can today
Good morning from foggy South Lanarkshire.
I’m so pleased to hear your good news GmaBatty.
Happy 70th to your DH Sar.
Yesterday was a fun day with DS’s children. We didn’t go out except for DH taking the eldest with him on several dog walks. He had to take them out separately meaning a few walks were needed, DGD wants one of her own more than ever now but it’s just not practical.
DH will take our visiting dog home and I’ll report for duty at the charity shop today.
A day of memories Harrigran
.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning we have The Imp here, he slept in his bed all night, has just feasted on scrambled egg and toast followed by two small yoghurts. He has an 8am school start, and is very pleased as he is now soing a pre-school club like his big brother. (This means we have two nights a week now with GC and early starts 🤷♀️)
I am going to a nearby big shopping centre to try and find a gift for my longest and best friend who is 70 tomorrow, it really is last minute as she is so difficult to buy for.
Wishing your DH a happy birthday Sar53 enjoy your meal, are you going to the seafront hotel up the road for your meal?
I am thinking of FGT2
Good morning from another misty and dull Black Country.
My walking group walked 5 miles yesterday, then home for lunch. Then out for 1 hour and 20 mins of Line Dancing! Walking group are discussing where and what date for our Christmas meal (there I said the C word)
My friend and I are going on a coach trip to Gloucester this morning. Luckily the coach pick up is only a 10 minute walk.
Happy 70th birthday to your DH Sar
Welcom Sillydilly Enjoy your time in Bristol. We will be there Sunday
Wishing you all the best day possible
Oh, and meant to mention. My friend welcomed her 7th grandchild yesterday too. A boy.
Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s not yet light but a dry day is forecast
Harrigran 💐
My journey home yesterday from Cambridge was fine, just a short delay on the flight up from Luton. It was so lovely spending time with everyone, they look after me very well. Travelling always makes me tired so I’ve nothing planned for today, I’ll just potter about the house and maybe call into DD2s later
Happy Birthday to your DH Sar, enjoy your meal out this evening
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from cloudy W Kent. I have decided to get all the Christmas cards and bits out this morning to see what I have already got. I need to be a bit more economical this year.
This afternoon U3A monthly meeting
Harrigran
Best wishes
Good morning. A damp dull start here in N.Bucks.
I’m off for a manicure and pedicure first thing this morning. This afternoon I have a physio appointment re. my shoulders. A quick visit to see DGSs 2&3. Packing to be finished for our holiday and make sure the house is clean and tidy. Choir this evening.
Wishing all a good day.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 7°C
Harrigran, 💐
H.appy birthday to your DH, Sar,
I think you may be referring to the church dedicated to Our Lady in Mosta, GM, I found the story of the bomb falling through the hole in the roof, fascinating.
It is based on the Pantheon in Rome and has the third largest unsupported dome in the world.
I was surprised and disappointed to hear of your experience on the ferry from Gozo, I have always found it a pleasant trip.
A particularly bad night with little sleep, means I am struggling, but am determined to go out with Dollie for a few hours ( it's mid term here).
She will be looking forward to it, therefore I do not want to disappoint her.
Her school report was excellent and there may be a little treat for her.
Wishing you all a pleasant daycand hugs for the mountaineers and those, who are caring for them.♥️
