Welcome news from fgt, despite Himself’s hernia which is adding to his distress. Prayers and hugs to you both.
Yesterday was rather busy with baking, sweeping (only because of mess on the kitchen floor), a teeny bit of sewing. I wanted a bit more but, no time..
To my astonishment, I got an appointment with a physiotherapist next week for my painful shoulder. I was no. 1 in the queue and only waited 9 minutes including about 5 of telling me not to bother them…
The afternoon was spent in church. The first was a sort of soul searching an£ baring, which I dislike intensely, but seems to b3 the CofE route to redemption. So be it.
The second, straight after, was very well chaired and barely lasted an hour. Considering that several events were being arranged by different groups (we have about 11 different organisations on the committee), the cooperation, ideas and assistance is heartwarming.
Quiet evening!
Today, the usual FAB cafe. I made almond cake and oat/chocolate biscuits for today. I’m going to keep the rest of the day quiet.

Good morning from Malta where it is forecast to ‘feel like’ 28°C today.

Yesterday we went to the Museum of Illusions and spent an enjoyable couple of hours feeling like we were children again, not two aging grandmothers!😂

All the staff were young people from various different countries and I had a long and interesting chat with a young man from Sicily who spoke perfect English but kindly let me practice my Italian on him!

We also went to Lidl as they had some lovely wooden trains so I snapped up a few for the boys before they sell out.

Not sure what we shall do today but my friend fancies a walk along the prom somewhere, maybe Marsascala.

Sorry to hear poor Himself has developed a hernia, he has really been through the mill poor man. I hope being home with FGT will help him feel better.🙏🏻

The museum looks like fun, Bellasnana. I’m impressed by the fact that Lidl regularly offers wooden toys which are preferable to plastic.

Sorry to hear about the hernia, that Himself has , FGT2, but let’s hope it can be dealt with soon.

Today’s excitement involves a short outing to the local Intermarché where they have a large sized washer which we'll use to launder my summer weight duvet from home! In the summer we washed my winter weight one very successfully and we can do a top up shop and have coffee while it’s “cooking”!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dark South Yorkshire. We are promised a dry day today and I’m pleased to say the weather bucked the forecast yesterday and I was able to walk to school and back. I made a large pan of chilli when I got home and will portion it up for freezing today.
Gym this morning, after which I’ll pick my living room curtains up from the dry cleaners which is quite near, killing two birds with one stone. Writers group at the library this afternoon, then marathon chat on the phone this evening with a friend in York who I don’t get to see often enough. Catch-ups are always lengthy and hilarious!

Good morning, a dry start here in south Glos and I don’t think rain is forecast so I’ll optimistically hang the washing out.
Not a lot happening here, I have my flu jab at lunchtime in the next village. Apparently I don’t qualify for a Covid jab (having had every one going so far) but I can pay privately if I like and go to Boots.
A dog walk from the village this morning, perhaps we’ll pop into the village cafe for a coffee en route.

DH was a little better yesterday and happy to see his sister. Today is dog walking and hospital visiting.

Good morning from s somerset, bright today but heavy persistent rain is coming

It is going to feel cool this evening and tomorrow , I will need to make a slow fire with smokeless fuel, my logs are too precious to be lit over a long period, It is me who shifted and stacked a tonne of logs

I was sewing yesterday and made a lovely soft pretty undergarment, that was an accidental sew but it was finished by 12. I did some knitting during the evening but I need to knit a lot more today. I slept well but did leave the electric blanket on for an hour, at a medium temperature, very cosy

Braised red cabbage needs to be made as I now have all the ingredients, braised with chestnuts, prunes and apple. I am thinking I will prep that today and cook tomorrow as it is going to be a cold dark and torrential day. The kitchen needs some added warmth. I have the dyson heater on in my living room at the moment

I am going to start loading the car boot later today, am taking several things to dd in Wales at the weekend.

Good morning , pot is our last day on Malta, we fly home this evening. Looks like it is going to be a warm day so must make the most of it.
We are going to do a 3 harbour boat trip late morning and then find somewhere for lunch before being picked up from the hotel around 5 pm.
We have enjoyed our stay but it’s always good to get home and we have some busy times planned .

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I’m going to have a go at making squash soup today. Elder son brought me a couple of beautiful ones a couple of weeks ago. I don’t always have much luck making soups apart from the deliciousness which is is Finnish salmon Soup!

I am signed up to listen to a WI talk on zoom about Medieval Westminster. I have listened to the speaker give several talks on London and he is very good.

OH may pop and see how his bees are doing. He has to check the hives are mouse and woodpecker proof.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a cold and dark morning here in Yorkshire. I am very cautionsly sitting here and taking care with my movements. Had a horrible waking with rotten cramp in my leg , so been sat on the edge of the bed trying to cope with the pain, couldnt stand up even for quite a while, so cold, hungry and fed up, until at last I have been able to put a dressing gown on and gingerly move about, but it is so infuriating, as have to think before any move at all at the moment, as my leg is painful and sort of on the brink of starting again. Maddening not to be in charge of your own body, but have to creep about to just not be in pain!! Well the plan for this morning had been much sorting out and ironing, but as I am right now that will not be a good idea! So once there is any daylight to see by, I think that I am going to see how the weather is, ring up Harlow Carr and ask if there is a buggy free at this last minute and go and look round there. The autumn colours are coming through now, and today is meant to be the best day this week for weather. Also think the half term begins next week so it will be busy. There are plenty of garden jobs that I want to get done but no chance with that either today. Infuriating. Ah well yesterday we went to Ripon and after going round and round for a while managed to get parked in the centre. The market square there has a lot of shops in close proximity which is useful, but I was struggling to walk about, so my plan to walk up the road to the cathedral and to look in all the little shops had to be abandoned, and only really able to get round the square, before retreating to the car. One funny thing was we went to the cafe Nero, conveniently on the square and as usual I took my china mug with me. Never been in that one before but moving along in the queue, the lady behind the counter said, "Your usual americano and do you have your cup with you?" I looked and she had previously been in Thirsk Nero and so of course knew me of old!! How well I am training all the staff to know what suits me!! Anyway got back home and did a small amount of sorting out, and I was able to get a new magnetic grabber stick in Yorkshire trading, so have been trying it out of course. So far a bit stiff to handle but the grabber bit is of course much tighter than the old one, and it was a lot cheaper buying it from there than from a disabled caterlog or shop. The manufacturers seem to think you are a captive market and can charge whatever they feel like. Well I look around for other places and look in charity shops as dont want to pay their price and also great believer in using whatever is available without starting a new one.

Then it was time to go to the games night. Very dark on the way there and had the lights on, so have to accept that we now need to be in winter mode. Not yet got into the habit of having a torch in my bag at the ready. Another new game to learn, but with less complicated layers. Also it was a very spatial kind of quiz, where you had to put pieces into a landscape but each edge had to match perfectly to the next piece, a bit like a jigsaw for the first part. I am quite good at spatial puzzles , and can look at a piece and without actually putting it next to another can visualize how it will fit etc. So still the beginner but did quite well and towards the end there was a piece that the other 3 players had picked up and tried to place and not been able to and returned it to the pile. I could see exactly where and how to put it and fingers crossed that I got the chance to use it, was a small triumph to go home with. One man said , he could see that once I had got the idea of the game I could be a challenging player to go against. Very cheering to leave on that note as I usually leave with spinning head and wondering why I bother going!! But it is actually a great thing for me, pleasant company, a chance to get the brain going, and last night I bought one half pint of cider and that was the total outlay so all very well worth doing. I find with complicated puzzles to work out, other worries and niggles that I find difficult to put to one side are given a rest as my brain needs to be fully concentrating. Then today I shall be going all being well to the whist drive. That is where I have played for years, can relax and be one of the more experienced player so cheer myself up with feeling less of a dunce with this game. I had planned to get more sorting and ironing done and keep away from the market place, but the cramp is a game changer, as I will have to think for at least all this morning how to move and how to avoid it gripping me again.

I must make sure that my car is back to normal mode, and check all the box of tricks in the boot . Also make sure that my disabled badges and driving glasses all in their proper place, especially my prescription sunglasses. At this time of year in the afternoon the sun is very low. We have also been told that the police are having a blitz on stopping people and checking eyesight and ability to read number plates etc at the correct distance. I hope that this is not going to be yet another blame the older driver. Have no worries about them stopping people, this does need to be checked, but hope that they are now not going to just constantly check up on older drivers. The assumption that because someone is young they have no problems is wrong, and there could be the occasional person who has not realized the problems with their eyesight. Anyway I keep both clear and sunglass prescription glasses in the car , so should be no problem if I get stopped.
Honestly , just looked outside and it is still very cold and dark , cant even see the tree outline. Ah well it will be my most cheering moment shortly with J S Bach to listen to and much needed coffee to enjoy before I gingerly get into the shower and hope the cramp doesnt grab me again!

Mick I hope all goes well with your digital reorganisation, and you meet some friends in Bicester today. GrandMattie, you have done such a lot that I hope you can have a bit of time for yourself. I hope that the FAB cafe goes well and that there is time to firmly remind people that they could all take a few t towels home to wash or your could have a rota for doing it. You do so much, and if they look to you for all the work you do, they should acknowledge you as the FAB cafe leader and organiser and I think you might think of a set of rules or ideas that will help the cafe to work well, which I think should include a more organised arrangement for who does what, and another scheme , where if you are meant to be going and cannot for some reason such as illness, that it is your job to find someone else to fill your place on that day and not leave you stranded and trying to do everything. Bellasnana, sounds as though things are going well for you at the moment. When I was living abroad so many people wanted to learn and practise their english that I used to suggest that we spoke english and portuguese or whatever on alternate days, which used to work quite well and we all got a chance at some practise and some laughs at the mistakes we made. I dont know if for some reason I dont see posts from FGT or because I have been away I have missed some and when the laptop was playing up might be why I dont seem to know what has happened etc. Well I hope, fingers crossed, to get rid of lots of spam sort of stuff, see my techy brilliant man to check up on a few things, and work out if and how I may have to move to windows 11, which had loads of teething troubles, so I stayed with 10, but apparently the support for 10 is going. another way the hope to force you to move to something they want you too and notby your choice. I will be avoiding AI at all costs and do not accept any cookies if I have a choice. I need to speak to Archie, as he has no hidden agenda, and what he tells you is correct and he is able to tell you whether it is good or important to change something , or how safe your laptop is etc.

Well folks, I have heard Bach, it is still very dark outside, so into the breach now. I am going to risk going to make some breakfast and a much needed cup of coffee and see how the morning turns out. Hope everyone has a good day today

We had a good, but exhausting, day with Wolfie yesterday. We hit the shops and he never stopped talking. We did manage to avoid a trip to McDonald's by offering cheesy muffins at home. He could only manage 4!

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It does seem a very dark morning. I’m off to get my hair cut and coloured this morning and a brows in M & S and Next afterwards.

Yesterday’s school pick up was quite stressful in that due to a road closure I had to contact my dgd2 aged 11 to arrange where to pick her up from her school bus. She told me one thing then did something different and I missed her subsequent text and we both felt extremely stressed but eventually met up🙈 She has a mobile phone but communication can be difficult at times! Meanwhile dgs2 constantly complains of tummy ache and feeling sick after school. I’m quite relieved no school pick up for the rest of the week. Half term here next week.

Our neighbour has an extremely tall leylandi tree in his garden and over the years it has become a real problem with the debris it drops, blocking light from our garden and various other issues. The Council are taking him to Court for not dealing with it as they requested in January this year. Court case is today so fingers crossed on a good outcome.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dry out and I think we are forecast a brighter day today, ahead of wet and windy weather tomorrow.
Yesterday we had a sunny morning, then an increasingly cloudy afternoon. A successful visit to the doctor in the morning, stronger anti inflammatory tablets and an appointment for an X-ray on my back. Another fracture is suspected!
I visited my dementia friend in the afternoon, she was calm and quiet but I had a nice chat to her DH.
Today will be quiet, I may go for a walk if it’s dry, hopefully to meet up with some dog walking friends.
I hope that fgt’s DH is home now, but sorry he has another health issue to deal with.

My DH and I used to love the huge French hypermarkets ash, they were so much bigger than ours and had such a variety of shops within shops!

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° with clear skies although the ground is damp. GrandMattie I love almonds. I would enjoy your cake. GrannyIvy fingers crossed for the court case. I inherited leylandii hedges when I moved in seven years ago. I've got one hedge completely removed and the other cut back severely. Dragonfly I'm pleased your dh is feeling better. Bellasnana Aldi had their wooden toy sale a couple of weeks ago, but there was nothing suitable for the boys, sadly.
Yesterday was a good day, although the boys were tired. Dgs2 had been up in the night with a bad dream. He's getting a few of those just now. He woke dgs1 too. So both boys were quite emotional in the morning. We left after an hour at soft play as dgs1 had had enough. Back home, they chilled, watching tv for a bit. Then dgs2 decided to dance to their latest craze - demon hunters. It's a Korean animation and the singing is very catchy. So round and round he went in the living room until he was sweating. He was very funny. Dgs1 got out of the way and drew in his bedroom.
Today is going to be a quiet day for me. The garden man will appear for his money at some point. Otherwise, I will potter about the house. I'll finish the last of the chicken for dinner and might make more lentil soup. And now it's time to put the bin out before I miss the collection! I'll do the walk of shame down the path in my dressing gown. It's difficult to creep quietly when you're dragging a noisy bin! Have a good day all.

I was going to see my architect today. He has designed a little eco house for me in part of my garden, but we heard yesterday that PP has been refused, for the second if not third time and I don't want to appeal. My patience, time and enthusiasm has run out. I first applied 10 months ago.

My Gaelic presentation went well which was a relief.
Yarn group today and perhaps a swim later.

So glad that FGT and Dragonfly's DHs are both improving.

DH got the kitchen walls painted yesterday and will start on the skirting boards etc today.Our usual Wednesday at home until 4ish when we will collect DGD, take her out for tea and then to dance.Both children had excellent parents evenings and have requested cake box as a treat so we will call there as well.

Redcar I hope the stronger tablets help but sorry it could be a fracture and madeleine I hope the cramp improves as the day goes on.

Good morning all. No rain so far in Glasgow but a short spell is due around noon.

Non stop rain yesterday, of course it was, the day my window cleaner arrived! Something to look forward to this morning, a coffee catch up at Waitrose with TopsyIrene followed by a Granny pick up from school in the afternoon to collect DG2. We stop at a local cafe for a treat before I take her home. She is naturally blonde but at 16 has decided on a new look and dyed her long hair black! Crazy teenage years. 😂

Childcare afternoon for us. We aren’t really needed till nursery pick up time but, wonder if wonders, my DDoutL has asked if I can help by sorting out the art and craft supplies. I’m happy to try to resolve the chaos although I suspect it won’t be an easy task.

FGT as if your DH doesn’t have enough to contend with.

That extra large washer outside all intermarchés is such a fantastic and simple idea. I still miss them even after 12 yrs back in the uk. The french are always much more 'community ' focussed, so good!
