Good morning all. Even darker this morning now that the clocks have changed. It’s a chilly 4deg. in Glasgow, rising to 12deg eventually, rain predicted.

A visit to the garden centre today for compost, grit and perlite (sp). This will require being loaded into my car and DD1 unloading it for me on her next visit. Pots to clean out and tulip bulbs planted gradually at my own pace. Also a visit to M&S food hall for a few items plus flowers and a parcel to collect.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Sunday.

Good morning from s somerset, cloudy today

Up too early today and I had no need for an alarm. I`ll start my journey to Wales at first light and driving conditions could be fine. Monmouth and then onto the beautiful usk valley. I do not like motorways to Wales, they have a lot of spray when it rains

My boot is full and I have just taken out a heavy electrical item of cooking equipment, which I like very much. but don`t use enough. Have not told dd that I am giving it to her but they will be over the moon and will make better use than me. It is a sage smart waffle maker.

Have a good day

(and may the pink flamingos ride with me for a safe journey )

Good Morning fr MS, where we're finally having some rain 🌧️(after wks of none) - I'm really looking forward to it! A slice of the cheese bread I made yesterday, will be grilled later, & feature in todays' elevenses, lol.
An early start today for the UK w/ the clocks ⏰changing - ours don't do that till Nov. 2nd.

Dragonfly: I hope yr dh has had a good night & be back home again w/ u soon!

Good morning from still dark N Bucks although I have not yet looked outside.

Yesterday I managed to lose my original post about our plans. We had brunch with DD2. and did. a small local food shop.
In the afternoon we went to have a cuppa and chat with DD1 and family which turned out into a meal out at their favourite Indian restaurant. DGS1 (23) came too and was very chatty and good company. Unfortunately I had to resort to Gavison during the night but it was worth it.
My foot is improving, just uncomfortable now rather than painful.
A quiet day for us today. Will make a quick visit to DD3 and family before they go off for a sunny half term holiday tomorrow. We’ll entertain the two boys for a while parents finish off the packing.

Safe travels for those on the move. Gentle healing thoughts for those who need them. A good day wished for all.

Bellasnana Sun 26-Oct-25 06:09:27

Good morning from Malta where we expect a sunny day with a high of 32°C. This is higher than usual for late October but we will make the most of it.

Had a lovely morning with DD3 and the boys yesterday at the park. We had lunch with them before they went off to a birthday party in the afternoon.

DD3 messaged later to say DGS2 had a fever. Poor little chap. I shall be on standby tomorrow if he’s not fit for school.

My friend leaves tomorrow so today is her last for this trip. I shall miss having company. She is a very easy guest who doesn’t expect to be waited on.

Safe travels to Wales karmalady, hope you enjoy your time with family.

Hope you all have a good day.☀️

Georgesgran Sun 26-Oct-25 06:12:31

Good Morning from a still dark Durham. DGS2 was on form yesterday and I was pleased to be able to do ‘something’ for DD2 while she is floored with Covid - I’m quite concerned about her. We should’ve
been going to a pumpkin event this afternoon, but she won’t make it. SinL will take DGS2 and I’ll go along to help.
Hope Dragonfly’s DH is improving.

Best wishes to all. X

Ashcombe Sun 26-Oct-25 06:13:25

Good morning from a fine start in Nogent - our last here for a while.

Yes, Grandmabatty, you assumed correctly that we travel back home today on the 16.30 ferry from Ouistreham with an overnight stay at Portsmouth Travelodge before completing our trip to Torquay tomorrow.

Safe travels to karmalady and thoughts with dragonfly46 and tge FGT’s. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Grandmabatty Sun 26-Oct-25 06:29:38

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and dry. The forecast is for rain by ten though. Ashcombe safe journey home. Karma safe journey to Wales. Bellasnana I hope your dgs is better. And your daughter too Georgesgran.
Yesterday was fairly quiet. I made it to Aldi and stocked up for the week ahead. I also bought a pumpkin to carve. I have no idea what possessed me as I haven't bought one for a number of years. The rest of the day, I rested my dodgy leg and pottered about, achieving most of the housework. Dd, Dsil and the boys went pumpkin picking yesterday and had a great time, according to the photos.
Today I will carve the pumpkin ready for the boys tomorrow. I want to make more soup too, as I like having a supply available in the freezer. I have a small ironing to do as well. I have had another horrible night's sleep, so I might have a nap. Dinner will be a mince pie with mash and swede followed by apple sponge and ice cream. Have a good day all

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it is beginning to get light. I always feel a little discombobulated when the clocks change but most in the house do it automatically now.

I do hope your DH is feeling better today Dragonfly an anxious time for you both 💐 Safe journeys Karmalady
Hope your DD soon feels better Georgesgran there is a lot of covid in Cambridge at the moment. My DD1 is slowly recovering from long covid it has been a difficult summer for her but fingers crossed she is improving now.

Yesterday I rushed around with various tasks and did manage to go over to DD2’s house to plant daffodil and tulip bulbs and have a general tidy up in the garden. Today we were planning a trip to a shopping outlet but DH has to repaint the door, window sill and skirting boards in our bedroom as the paint he used yesterday really hasn’t done a very good job. He has finally admitted that going forward we will need to get a professional in. He has managed to hurt his back moving furniture and the subsequent bending.

Wishing a good day to all

Susan56 Sun 26-Oct-25 06:42:46

Good morning from Shropshire.Rain forecast all day.

Yesterdays visit to mum was mixed. She was so happy to se DD2 and mentally better than she has been in a while.I was appalled however by the way she was dressed and the staff seemed very embarrassed. She was wearing a nightgown at 1.30 in the afternoon which had ridden up nearly to the top of her legs and was sitting in the lounge which was full of residents and visitors.I have never been and she has looked anything but immaculate before. She was also in pain and had not been given any pain killers. We have been very impressed with the care she has received up to now but I will be phoning tomorrow to speak to the regular staff 😡I went to check her wardrobe and all her lovely outfits were there apart from one or two which will have been in the laundry.Rant over🙈I still feel upset.

Safe travels Ash, olddudders and karmalady.

Hoping for news of improvement for dragonfly’s DH.

Wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

Good morning from a just dawning Bristol.
Goodness, it’s late for me! I have only just woken up. I purposely went to bed a bit late4 than usual, to counteract the extra hour. Having changed the bedroom clock, I didn’t expect the alarm to work. It did and woke me up at 1200, 1209 and 1218. I managed to stop the appalling noise, and then sleep straight until now.
Thank’ you for all your comments re my parting “fish”. It was very kind of you - I wasn’t upset, just still can’t understand why, after so very long, the phrase suddenly so annoyed the poster.
Yes, I did enjoy my lunch with DD and family. Iris came home looking very smart in her St, John’s uniform. Apparently (at 13), she was expected to take blood pressures before certain people were vaccinated.
DGD1 asked me if I could make her a cape for her Halloween party costume. I said I could, then it turned out to be cape like one of the Star Wars characters. I said I could if I had a pattern. Her mother was horrified, told her it was too much to ask and suggested she found something ready made online. Rather relieved as my week is quite busy, I gave her money towards it.
I slept for over an hour when I got back, I was so very tired having woken up at 2am.
There is a baptism in church this morning. I find them exhausting as small, uncontrolled children run riot in the church. The normal, small attendees behave beautifully, why not those?
I have just finished a book I have been re-reading. I had forgotten how much I loved it and most of the author’s books. “The Dean’s Watch” by Elizabeth Goudge. It is utterly delightful, gentle, kind, sweet and redemptive. How one or two small gestures start a cataract of kindness and love (philos not Eros). Do read it if you can find a copy, but it has been out of print “forever” having been written in the early 1960s.
Well, I hope all the difficult things in your lives smooth over, the mountains flatten and you have a good day. I trust that the poorly and their families cope with the situation, that the travellers are safe, and everyone has a blessed Sunday.
Carpe diem, dear friends 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

luluaugust Sun 26-Oct-25 06:48:43

Good morning from a bright W Kent. After lots of plan changes we shall be having lunch at home and going to DS for tea and cake later. DGD2 has had to return from University for a few days as she has a bad dose of flu.
Safe travels and best wishes to all

RosesandLilac Sun 26-Oct-25 06:49:48

Good morning, a dry start here in south Glos but only 3°.
We did a new for me walk yesterday, it was absolutely lovely wandering across what was once beautiful parkland belonging to a big house that’s now a private school. There are stunning Cedar of Lebanon trees, the remains of an ancient orchard with fruiting apple trees (I stuffed my pockets full) and a very old gatehouse. Why on earth I haven’t done it before I don’t know! It’s only about 2 miles from home and there’s parking space at the beginning. A total gem 😍
The rest of the morning was housework and washing, rain on and off so the tumble dryer was busy - I think it’s on its last legs so I need to look for another.
I also had a go at sorting out the wobbly loo seat, it’s a bit better but not totally done 🙄
I slept very well last night, the extra hour included!
Today nothing much planned beyond the usual, a quiet day suits me.
Best wishes to all 🌹

cornergran Sun 26-Oct-25 06:57:43

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is dry after overnight rain

After a thoroughly enjoyable lunch we headed for a much larger garden centre for two specific items. We came home with three things and totally forgot the items we went for. There is no hope!

Pottering at home today, the only guarantees are croissant for breakfast and a roast early evening. The rest will unfold as it does

Safe travels karmalady, ashcombe and all on the move

Have the best day you can everyone.

kittylester Sun 26-Oct-25 07:03:47

Good morning all. North Leicestershire is chilly but brightish.

We have a quiet day ahead. A quick trip to M&S to collect a parcel, clock changing, football on TV and a visit from DS2.

Have the best day possible everyone.

grandMattie Sun 26-Oct-25 07:04:59

Sounds gorgeous, RandL. I love cedars of Lebanon’s, they are such a regal, beautifully shaped tree.

Grandmabatty Sun 26-Oct-25 07:06:36

I've just opened the blind to the most glorious sunrise. The sky is very pink!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 26-Oct-25 07:16:01

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

We enjoyed the Panto yesterday. Granddaughter enjoyed her Nanna (me) being picked on by the wicked Witch!

We are out for lunch today at a favourite riverside restaurant. Afterwards we’ll go to a local Art Exhibition. Apparently tonight is hair-washing night - rather daunting as granddaughter’s hair is down to her waist!

Have a good day everyone.

dragonfly46 Sun 26-Oct-25 07:20:57

Good morning from a sunny East Midlands.
My usually sunny natured DH was looking very sad yesterday. He is covered in tubes and bags and told me he didn’t want to be there.
I am worried that he maybe losing his mobility.
DS has decided to stay longer than planned as he can work from here.
He is going to cook roast chicken tonight!

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

monk08 Sun 26-Oct-25 07:25:05

Good morning all from a sunny Black country after overnight frost.
Quiet day today just a bit of packing for our few days away in Wales with the family, we are going by train so that should be fun.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

baubles Sun 26-Oct-25 07:27:41

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. I’ve been sitting at my bedroom window for an hour watching the glorious sunrise. It’s one of those moments when I feel so grateful to be alive.

Mass then teas in the hall, I’ll help with the washing up.

We didn’t go to DD’s yesterday but she’s asked us over for dinner, everybody will be at home so I’m looking forward to it.

My best wishes to everyone travelling today and those who have troubles to bear.

Redcar Sun 26-Oct-25 07:38:14

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s a lovely sunny start to Sunday, but a chilly 3 degrees outside. A sunny morning is forecast, with rain later.

I went for a walk yesterday morning, but was a bit late for the usual dog walkers. Had a nice chat to a gentleman who was walking round, only 5 weeks since a knee replacement and walking without sticks!
I changed the bed clothes and put the 10.5 tog duvet on. It felt heavy last night but I slept very well under it!
DD1 and family called in during the afternoon. The granddaughters are into simple origami at the moment and the 7 year old made me two swans!

I’ll go for a walk this morning, well wrapped up against the cold.. The bedclothes are in the wash and I’ll do the towels later during the half price electricity period.

Safe travels to karma and ash, hope it’s a smooth crossing for you.

I hope all those who are suffering in any way find some comfort today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Sun 26-Oct-25 07:40:40

dragonfly I’m so sorry that your DH is so poorly and hope that his condition improves soon. Sending you a virtual hug.
