Good morning from a damp Bristol.
The reason no one knows much about the troubles in Tanzania is that they have cut off all communication in/out of the country. DS managed to send quick reassurance when the internet was back for a few minutes.
Golly, was I tired after the fete yesterday! I went in first thing to set up, started, then the vicar told me to move to the next room - for internet access for zapper…. I did that, and spent nearly two hours getting as much as I could ready. I went home for a mini sit down and a bite to eat.
When I got back I was confronted by the dragon 🐉 and her shadow. She told me that we “had to move BACK to the previous room for health and safety issues and that the vicar had agreed”! I was furious. She was so very bossy that after about 30 minutes I asked who was in charge. “I am”, was the immediate reply. Even more angry, I tried to explain that she didn’t know her way round the kitchen, etc. Talk about water off a duck’s back! In the end, enraged, I told her that I was in charge, that I didn’t get jokes when I was tired, and that it was my kitchen. The whole thing ran smoothly after that, probably when she realised she’d lost.
My job was to facilitate everything so cakes didn’t run out, coffee, hot water, etc., were always topped up, my”staff” was happy. We were extremely busy for the three hours - extra, if you include the dragon “allowing” people drinks before we had finished setting up…
In the end, I decided life was too short to carry on arguing, and beside, she barely did anything, spent her time either disappearing or chatting at a table with her friends.
I mentioned her behaviour to the organiser who wasn’t best pleased as she had been firm told that it was “my” kitchen, etc., both in person and by mail,, and the last thing she’d wanted was to put my back up!
Iris came and was told that she had no place at the raffle! Once again, I was displeased. The poor child felt thrown out. She and DD spent a few minutes looking round, bought some cake for her sleepover and went home very disappointed. I felt very sad but had no answer to the situation.
We made at least £400 at the refreshments. I won a bottle of brandy in the raffle!
Today, apart from church, I shall do very little, gathering my energy for the coming, busy week,
Hugs to this3 with difficulties. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
