Morning all from a very rainy North Leicestershire.

Yesterday we went to John Lewis in the hope of doing some Christmas shopping - we bought paper napkins and a tin of Quality Street. Need to try harder!

Today, DH has a volunteer drive and I will do some admin. I discovered yesterday that I have been taken off the list for my op so I need to sort that out first.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a breezy Torbay after a showery day yesterday.

We had some new people join our exercise class yesterday, some with carers so the hall was rather full. One new gentleman tried to tell our wonderful teacher that she’d got in a muddle regarding one of the exercises! I admired her polite response…! Later, he refused to be advised by the kindly administrative assistant about how he was wrongly positioned in one of the cool down exercises and shrugged off her attempts to help! Sigh!

DH met me in the theatre bar after rehearsal as it was open following the first night of a little known play called The Underdog (The Other, Other Brönte) It had been well received although the audience was small due to it being an obscure choice. Our best selling plays have to be comedies or have blood, murder or gore in the title!

Grandmabatty: I expect your little GS will be more settled today, after overcoming the hurdle of the first day back, something we all hate after a break, even the staff!

I hope you soon find ways of making new friends, Aldom. Look out for coffee mornings or church groups which often involve the local community in a non religious context. Amdram groups usually welcome volunteers to help with the many non-acting jobs.

A good day to is my wish for you all. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is °7°C.

I need to be up soon, we have a boiler service today. Last night I received a call from Scottish Gas, asking me to book the service He then offered me an appointment this morning.

Yesterday was pretty busy, but a positive day. I was really struggling, but headed to church to pick up the ticket money and do a few quick jobs, before my hospital appointments. The young curate thinks I am a heathen, always popping in, but not waiting for Mass.
I told him not to worry, I was becoming a Druid.

On eventually locating the new Credit Union office, found it was closed. By this time I was so out of breath and struggling. and was carrying a substantial amount of money.
Then I had the bright idea of going along to the Citizens' Advice Office, the manager is one of our fundraisers. She took the money and said she would deliver it, when the Credit Union opened. I didn't want the responsibility of keeping it in the house and lso couldn't face going back out.

My hospital appointment was such a pleasant and positive experience. The consultant had actually trailed through my notes (of all conditions).
He said he had been reading my notes as far back as the nineties.
I corrected him and said I had been first diagnosed in November 1977, when, newly married, I spent six weeks in HDU in the Western Infirmary.
He burst out laughing, saying the Western no longer exists and heaven knows where my files (there were many) of paper notes were.
He listened, a rare skill and thanked me for being so precise and concise ( unusual for me), allowing him to make a diagnosis, with having to ask multiple questions.
He believes the cause of the problem may be one of my heart meds and was shocked that it had taken me so long to get help.
He has written an electronic prescription for my GP and I must stop the original one immediately.
Once again, my GP has let me down. Two years of misery could have been resolved sooner.
I have an open appointment if I don't feel any better. It will take six weeks for the original drug to reach my system.
He was all a doctor should be, kind, caring and listened to me, not dismissing me as a time waster.

I must run, I didn't realise the time. Best wishes to all, I will come back and read later.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a gloomy-looking Carlisle. At least it's dry at the moment.
It was yesterday afternoon so I took the opportunity to mow the lawn. Hopefully for the last time this year. The moss appears to be growing vigorously already though so I'll do something about it shortly.
Today I'm off to Newcastle to see my physio so a day off housework and admin. My ironing pile is growing but I can shut the door on it for now.

Australia, Kalu? Go for it, it will give you a lift especially if you're to see a daughter.

I wish you all the best possible day especially if you face challenges.

Good morning from Shropshire where a day of heavy rain is forecast.

Yesterday didn’t turn out as planned.DD2’s FIL was taken to hospital in the early hours of the morning with complications after heart surgery so we weren’t needed for school pick up.We decided to go and see mum.She was in good form.We also met her GP who was very pleasant and chatty with her and us.

Today I have a hair appointment after lunch.DH has his exercise class so I will have a mile walk home in the heavy rain🤦🏼‍♀️oh well 🤷‍♀️

Grandmabatty poor little man.Hopefully today will be easier for him and you.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's dreich November weather for Remembrance Day.

I am going to Dublin today to visit my son and look around the city. He says its the wrong time to enjoy it but it can't be very different from Scotland weatherwise, and I am quite used to that.

My tenants moved out yesterday but there's confusion over their deposit money so a call to the letting agents will have to happen. The flat has been left in perfect order.

Yesterday I gave my short talk to U3A history group. We are studying the Scottish Enlightenment so divvied up a few famous names and researched them.
Mine was on the architect of much of Edinburgh's New Town, William Playfair.

Goodness gMattie I don't envy you.
So a retirement complex is just that, complex! I hope your new heater is properly installed and made good before winter.

Dragonfly Thinking of you.

Hope everyone has some joy today.

MD, your consultant seems to everything a doctor should be. A serendipitous find. Hand on to him.
I hope that the new heart drugs are helpful - what a joy if they were!
Ash,your consultant seems seem to getting on well, and I hope GS will be less worried about nursery gbatty.

Good morning from an overcast Kent. Up at sparrowfart💨 as I have my long awaited rheumatologist appointment at 09.00 - only waited 13 weeks for an urgent appointment!
Marydoll I am so pleased that you had a good consultation yday. We are obviously cut from the same cloth as I have a spreadsheet of steroid doses since April and a potted medical history of relevant info ready to thrust into their hand!
DH has just come in from a night shift so is taking me to the William Harvey. Poor chap will probably fall asleep in the chair.
My trip to Scotland last week was exhausting, emotionally and physically. My 93 yo mummy is frail and in a lot of pain but still managed a blether. I missed seeing Marydoll by a few hours which was a shame. Her hairdresser is across the street from my mummy’s house. DH had plans for his birthday (05/11) so we didn’t get to see her.
Hope all have a good day. Update tomorrow as to the rheumatologist- if I survive!

Good morning all and the sky is brightening here in Essex.

Yesterday was disruptive as I was just about to leave for Chimes group, having sorted Dh out and was told by him that he would be fine, Dd came in after school drop off to say that our town was gridlocked with 3 and 4 way traffic lights. She had taken over an hour to get to school. I quickly phoned teacher to apologise that I wouldn’t be able to get to her. I felt bad as she has to work out the music according to how many of us will be there.

Apparently it will be the same all week. Beware GG if you’re coming this way.

Today I’m having a pedicure and Dh is going for breakfast with his old school pal.

This afternoon we have a physio coming to help Dh with his balance and walking. We’ll book a few sessions and see how it goes.

No Bridge Club for me today.

Aldom I can imagine how you must feel, but I’m sure you will settle in time. You have lots to focus on with getting your new abode just right for you. Plenty of time to look out for new clubs, hobbies and adventures. 😉.

Dragonfly. 🙏, keep your chin up.
Liberty I hope your journey is trouble free.🤞

Take care all ♥️

Good morning all from a dull Black country yesterday started lovely and sunny but by 10am it was nonstop rain.
We had our first Christmas card yesterday so it prompted me to write some think this will be last year of posting any, postage will be over £20 would rather donate it.
Iceland shop and I have a bag for Sue Ryder to drop in.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️

GrannyGravy13 Tue 11-Nov-25 08:20:32

kittylester don’t worry I helped John Lewis keep their profits up, with my purchases yesterday.

(Fortunately I was at Bluewater with DS4 and his wife, when my bags were to heavy (and numerous) I rang him and he would come and find me and take them to the car, so I could carry on 😹👏👏👏)

GrannyGravy13 Tue 11-Nov-25 08:21:24

Marydoll you must be so relieved that a medical professional has actually listened to you 🌸

NannyJan53 Tue 11-Nov-25 08:27:43

Good morning from a dark and rainy Black Country.

Walked to Line Dancing in the pouring rain yesterday afternoon, and back again 90 minutes later, and it was still pouring down!

Doctors appointment this morning, then hairdressers this afternoon. I know how to live smile

Dragonfly flowers

I can imagine how you must miss your friends etc Aldom. Hopefully you will find new activities to join. If you like walking there are bound to be walking groups in your new area.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning from N.Bucks. It is wet under foot but seems to be brightening.
DGS1 is coming over for lunch today. Sadly he has been made redundant from his job so is spending each day searching and updating his cv. It will be good to have a nice chat with him and for him to relax a little.
Looking forward to choir this evening especially as last week was called due to our leader being ill.
Good wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Georgesgran Tue 11-Nov-25 08:35:45

Good Morning from a dull, wet Durham. It’s been raining since last night. I woke early, still dark, but managed to drop off again.
DD2 got a different courtesy car yesterday - not ideal, but it fits the bill, so a load off my mind and it’s back to PlanA.
I have piles!! A pile of ironing and a pile of admin to work through - must get them done.
Lovely to read Marydoll’s post today - some progress at last, but how infuriating to have such a useless GP.
My thoughts go to those feeling unwell, or caring for their loved ones.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from damp s somerset

Up late after a rare long sleep and I had to run out with the bins, I only noticed it was bin day after pushing the window covers out of the way

MD at last, at long last, I hope that this is the turning point to having confidence in your own health again

I have been watching lady C after her dreadful accident, no fault of her own and she too is so stoic, in spite of the greatest pain. Her treatment has also been scandalous until the moment a good old-school surgeon stepped into the picture. Our friends in the old days were old school but one by one they retired and are now replaced by computers and AI and a barrage of mechanical questions

My ocado order yesterday was not as large as I expected, I thought it would be larger because of the expense but I did have coffee beans and an expensive protein powder, to bump up the cost It was easy to stash away and I am set for whatever winter throws this way

I had the typical hibernation cosy day yesterday and today I would like to get to the allotment for some veg then back to cosy. I need to bring logs indoors, to keep in my cloakroom but I am hoping now to save them for the `what if` situations, gas can take the strain until then. My old wicker shopping baskets do sterling work as log holders

I do hope that the heater is fixed today GM yet another case of the elderly being ignored

Have a good day

Have awoken with a bad back for which there is no explanation, and it is bed changing/mattress turning day too! Have various dull admin tasks as well, so a rather dull day in prospect.

So glad to read Marydoll’s piece - just being properly heard will be life enhancing, and if the right treatment is prescribed and works that is even better. Not being listened to seems to be a real problem for us as we age, and I do hope something positive comes out of this recent appointment.

Good morning everyone from a grey and wet Northampton, feeling quite chilly.indoors so the heating is on.

A busy morning yesterday, making the Christmas puddings; they have to go in the freezer once cooled down, so they have been in the fridge overnight, well fed with Cointreau! Shall venture to the garage freezer with them when I'm dressed. I will need to make another batch of sausage rolls and also some mince pies soon.

No time to do a lot this morning except to shower and dress, and have an early lunch, as I need to be out by 12.30 to get the bus to town. Meeting a friend at the cinema to see 'The Choral', the new Alan Bennett film about a Yorkshire choral society in WW1. It has had wonderful reviews. Hope I don't spend the time coughing!

Hope.your heater is fixed today grandMattie.

Wishing all a pleasant day,.especially those struggling with life at the moment.

Nursery drop off achieved without tears. Hurrah!
