Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and the ground is wet here in Brackley this morning.
Yesterday before normal bus pass time and it being Armistice day I did get a free bus ride with Stagecoach as I showed my RAF veterans badge.
Today the usual journey to Bicester hopefully see those I know etc.
Health OK , but breathing effected by cold air when walking .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a very soggy Bristol. It’s going to rain all day, unfortunately, as I’m in and out for most of it.
Yesterday’s new radiator went well, the electrician was here for a couple of hours. All set up, now working and giving off a horrible smell - which I hope will disperse soon.
Regarding the making good, I was told that it is normally the residents’ responsibility (😳) but that since re-plastering is involved, “they” will do that but nothing else. Honestly, you couldn’t make it up!
I baked all morning and did my Spanish homework in the afternoon. I’m still thinking about one bit. After the Louvre thefts done by amateurs, we are to write something about what we would steal, how and what we’d do with the result, using the conditional. Probably steal a Strad methinks, and learn to play the cello! I always try to do something silly.
Today, FAB cafe and book group. I shall get rather wet.
Hugs to all the mountaineers.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and the ground is damp. Yesterday was mostly torrential rain showers. GrandMattie I wonder how long you will wait for plastering to be done!
Yesterday was a good day. Boys were safely deposited at school and nursery. I decided to buy a new phone and spent some time sorting that out. It should arrive today.
Last night was a bad one. My feet were so painful most of the night and kept me awake despite painkillers. I had just dropped off when the alarm went off. I'm doing two extra childcare days as the other grandparents are on holiday. I could have done with a long lie today. Once I take the boys to school, I'll come home and have a nap, hopefully not missing the phone being delivered. Then I need to tidy up the kitchen which is messy. More painkillers before I lie down later. I have to book an appointment with the surgery for my diabetic review so I'll talk about pain relief then. Later I'll cook a gammon. I didn't do it yesterday, which I'm now regretting, because I had enough salmon risotto leftover. Have a good day all.

Good morning from Malta where it’s another dry day with a high of 22°C. Still warm in the sun but the low is now around 15°C so I felt chilly indoors for the first time yesterday and had to dig my warm slippers out of the cupboard.

Lovely coffee meet up with my friend then I called in to ask about my internet the result of which is that a technician will call today to change it to fibre optic, whatever that is!🤔

It’s a bit of a nuisance as I have Milo today whilst their cleaner does her stuff. I’m also having the boys after school while DD3 goes for a facial. I like to be useful but wish it wasn’t all on one day!

The tennis was good yesterday, I was on tenterhooks watching Alcaraz and had to go out to the corner shop at one point as I couldn’t bear to watch!🫣

grandMattie I hope they don’t leave you waiting too long to plaster your wall. I am wondering what are the benefits of living in a retirement complex as it seems nothing but stress for the poor residents one way and another.

Grandmabatty I’m sorry you’ve had such a bad night. Having to do childcare when you’re tired already is not easy.💐

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

EkwaNimitee Wed 12-Nov-25 06:09:49

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark Carlisle where it appears dry currently but that's not due to last.
I have been awake since 2.30am and none of my usual wheezes have got me back to sleep so I'm up, washed, dressed and breakfasted. It must still be jet lag as I've been awake very early since return and struggling to stay awake in the evenings. The odd thing is that going out, I had no jet lag whatsoever.

I do have to be out early to take the car for its repair, it will barely be light and the roads will be busy so not too happy about that and the cyclists who do not wear hi-vis or have lights.
That will probably take most of the morning so I shall return and hopefully get round to tackling my ironing pile followed by a snooze? Though sleepiness hasn't been hitting till after dinner the last few days.

Stealing something? I was once in a small art gallery in Spain. Part way up a flight of stairs was a little portrait by Picasso. I was enchanted by it....no one in sight, no apparent cameras or security, small enough to stuff under my jacket...I hovered in front of it for some minutes then walked away! I never would have done it though, just too honest. Sometimes things just call to you and that was one of those times. I still think about it on occasion.

And wishing you all a good day if possible.

Good morning, it’s raining steadily here on the hillside in south Glos.
We drove a few miles yesterday across the other side of the valley for our dog walk, one I haven’t done before although DH knows it well.
It was very peaceful, it didn’t rain although we watched it falling across the Westbury hills, obliterating the landscape. The views were amazing.
Unsurprisingly it was very muddy in places and I didn’t like a very uneven stretch through the woods. Tiddler thoroughly enjoyed ploughing through mud, puddles and anything else she found.
For a dog that spent 7 years shut in a very small room, no walks, no toys and a dreadful skin condition, she really is amazing! It’s like walking a mini tank on four legs!
Bigger dog is more choosy about mud and puddles, she looks at tiddler as if to say ‘What on earth do you think you’re doing?)
They both slept all afternoon while I did some painting that I started a couple of days ago, it’s turning out quite nicely at the moment.
I have a Zoom pastels workshop this morning so a dog walk in wellies and raincoat first. I need to sort out something for dinner too.
Sending best wishes 🌹

bellasnana, in a sense I agree with you, but if it was run properly, sheltered accommodation would be perfect.
One great advantage is that there is or should be someone “professional “ to take care of such things - report it and it’s done.
Also, especially after moving away, there is a readymade group of people who keep an eye on you, make friend or at least someone to talk to. The alarm system, etc. It’s a good principle but dreadfully managed.
I’m happy here but am seriously p..sed off with the ineffective management. Apparently, Anchor is one of the better managed groups! Make you want to cry.😢

Good morning from s somerset, lots of rain this morning

Picture is of the first three pairs of socks, drying now and I will soon wrap in tissue paper with a pretty named sticker on each one. I was stash busting but looked up that particular yarn and they are not making it any more, so my stash will be bigger very soon, I quickly added 10 more balls in 5 different colours, for next year. I get three pairs from 2 balls. I am working my way through the next 7 pairs for this year, they are easy and very nice to knit and very much appreciated

Today, more of the same and the exercise walk after the rain. One ear on the news, I am thinking there will be a massive earthquake in Japan this coming week, geophysics hat is on

Cosy again today, I might make a leek and squash risotto

Have a good day

brook2704 Wed 12-Nov-25 06:35:56

Good morning everyone from a dark and wet Inverness
Gorgeous socks Karma well done, you’re so talented
A busy day yesterday, it was good catching up with a group of friendly ladies in the afternoon. We’re looking forward to a few days away and travelling down to Edinburgh later today. Lots of layers packed to cover all eventualities
Enjoy doing your Spanish homework gMattie it sounds like it’ll be an interesting read
Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad night with painful feet grandmabatty hope you get a nap today, you too Ekwa
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

GrannyGravy13 Wed 12-Nov-25 06:42:29

Good morning from a dark S E Essex, no idea what the weather is doing today 🤷‍♀️

I am off to the gym first thing, allegedly the workmen are back today to fit the door in downstairs cloakroom and finish the painting.

I hope your plastering gets sorted pdq grandMattie

GrannyGravy13 Wed 12-Nov-25 06:43:24

Oops, beautiful socks karmalady you are a very clever knitter

Grandmabatty Wed 12-Nov-25 06:56:07

Safe journey brook.

luluaugust Wed 12-Nov-25 07:06:09

Good morning from a brightening W Kent. I am catching up with a good friend for tea and chat this morning. I find there are fewer and fewer people I want to discuss family things with. I have no other females in the family of my generation and rely on a couple of friends to mull things over with.
Later I am hoping for a walk I feel very winterish.
Love the socks, wish I could knit now but fingers are too arthritic

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 12-Nov-25 07:08:01

Morning all from a damp looking West Oxfordshire.

We are out to lunch today. We will talk about where we might go for a Golden Wedding trip next year.

The Local History Society tonight are having a talk on Witchcraft in Oxford, so might go to that.

Have a good day. 🪻to those of us with difficulties.

glammagran Wed 12-Nov-25 07:11:05

Good morning everyone. Too dark to see what today will bring weather wise. Lunchtime BBC forecast was for a fine afternoon but it chucked it down.

School pickup and homemade pizza for tea yesterday. GD3 and GS2 were great for once without a single fight. They enjoy drawing and crafty things. GS2 has settled into Reception extremely well and is loving school. He holds a pencil perfectly and proudly said Mr R had taught him. A male teacher (2/3 of the intake were boys this year) seems to have done him a power of good.

Ocado shop this morning and M&S collection later on.

Hope for better news for Dragonfly and her DH.
Your GS2’s meltdown sounded quite spectacular GB. I too have painful feet out of the blue for the last month. A few days ago I started doing some ankle rolls but all it’s done is injure my ankle.

Have a good day everyone.

Greyduster Wed 12-Nov-25 07:15:15

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is just getting light. It looks like we will have a dry morning but a very wet afternoon. Mick, I have a veterans badge but haven’t had the chance to wear it this year. DH and I both got one.
GS is coming over today. He is on a reading week this week so he will bring some work to do, but we’ll cook a meal together later.
Have the best day you can folks.

monk08 Wed 12-Nov-25 07:19:09

Good morning all from the Black country dark outside but can hear the rain on utility roof.
Spent some time clearing old paperwork yesterday I do enjoy the shredding of it for some unknown reason find it therapeutic.
Today I have playgroup so will put a stew on in the slow cooker before I leave.
Not much else planned perhaps carry on reading my book.
karmalady you are very talented.
grandMattie hope you dont have to wait to long for the plastering.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Marydoll Wed 12-Nov-25 07:20:51

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 12°C and wet.
I was about to turn over, thinking it was hours till morning, when DH appeared with my tea and hot water bottle for my joints.
GMB it is so debilitating, when pain keeps you awake., especially when you have childcare. I hope it improves as the day goes on.

We have Dollie this morning and like Babyboll, she is reluctant to change her routine, so I'm up early to make the pancakes.
Tomorrow the routine will be repeated with Babydoll.
I love my girls so much, but am finding it more and more difficult to give them the best of times, when they are here.

Despite getting up early, to accommodate the Scottish Gas appointment, and staying out until the service was done, the engineer did not appear until 4pm.
I was not amused.
He did phone to apologise, someone had no heating and he could not find the cause of the problem.
DH made me feel guilty, You would hope that, if it was us, an engineer would do the same., he said. He was of course correct.
As I get older, I dislike having workmen in my home.

I popped into B&M and at 9.30am, it was so busy, with Christmas shoppers.
On entering Sainsburys, I spotted the 20% off knitwear signs. Fatal!! However, why are sleeves so long and wide nowadays.
I was shocked how nany people, shopers and staff alike, disrespected the 11am silence.

The rest of the day was spent culling hospital paperwork.
I have kept every letter since the year dot just in case.
They were valuable ten years ago, when I ran out of sick pay and no NIs were being made and I had to prove how seriously unwell I was to the DWP.
My consultation on Monday set me thinking, it's time to let go.
It will take days!

Today, I am going to try and get to Mass and do the jobs, I didn't do on Monday. However, I don't feel great, we shall see if mind triumphs over my ailments. 😉

Have a pleasant day all. Praying that Mr Dragonfly has made some progress and all those in the sick bay have a gentle day.💕

Redcar Wed 12-Nov-25 07:32:13

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. We have broken cloud and a mild morning so far. Not sure what today’s weather will do, it would be nice to see some sunshine again!
Yesterday was very frustrating, I had to wait in for a parcel that I had to sign for, but which didn’t arrive. I spent ages online trying to find out where it was and eventually at about 9 o’clock I had a text to say it would be delivered by 12 today. I need to go out so I hope it is delivered before 12.
I had a call from the surgery to tell me that I have two new fractures in my upper back and will be referred to rheumatology to discuss different treatment for the osteoporosis. Four years on the basic treatment obviously haven’t worked! I did plant the remaining tulip bulbs, so a small achievement!
grandmattie I hope the plastering is done soon and that the odd smell wears off quickly.

karma, I love the socks, so bright and cheerful!
grannygravy I hope the workmen turn up and put a door on your downstairs cloakroom.
I hope you have a lovely holiday brook

Have as good a day as possible everyone, may we all find some sunshine in our lives today!

Jaxjacky Wed 12-Nov-25 07:32:38

Morning from a bright S Hants but we’ve had rain overnight. Boiler service this morning and the parting of a few £’s for that, glad it’s not next week when it’s forecast much colder.
I was out and about with a friend yesterday morning, MrJ and I had a very tasty tray bake for dinner.
This afternoon I have a few phone calls to make.
Pretty karma.
I too hope for a positive update from dragonfly

Good morning from the NE where it is mild for the time of year.
Yesterday was a day of dreadful pain so unable to do anything, even getting dressed was an ordeal. I stayed in bed until lunchtime and then the rest of the day in front of TV wrapped in a blanket. I am baffled as to how the pain just starts out of the blue like someone flicked a switch.
No plans for today.
Have a good day.

cornergran Wed 12-Nov-25 07:44:37

Morning Mick, morning All from a seriously soggy corner of Somerset.

A routine day at home, a driver getting wet delivering our groceries, dust to remove and some life admin. Oh yes, ironing with my name on it first. I’ll be happy enough, I like to get these things done.

Thoroughly enjoyed our day out with friends yesterday. The museum was very quiet, the cafe comfortable, plenty of space and time to chat. The two minutes silence was respected together with the museum staff and other visitors, a shame about your experience maryd.

Best wishes to all. Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

Apparently the Aurora Borealis put on a spectacular show in the early hours, I missed it, again! My son sent this photo he took in his back garden at 2.30 am.

We’re off to do our weekly tidy of DS’s house, prepare an evening meal and do the school/nursery pick ups.

Fabulous knitting Karma.

Hope you’re feeling a bit better today Harri.

Have the best day possible everyone.

ginny Wed 12-Nov-25 07:51:06

Good morning from N.Bucks. It’s pouring with rain so no golf for DH.
At last it’s the day for my GP appointment re. my shoulders and the problems they are causing.
Craft club this afternoon where we are making a folded book angels.
Boy sitting this evening at DD3s .
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Jaxjacky Wed 12-Nov-25 07:58:38

Stunning baubles!!
