Good morning all. Went to bed early as tired out with work. Five more weeks then retired. Looking forward to it but keep having doubts as to whether I will settle to it. Big change for me. But know it’s the right time. My sciatica is bad woke early with the pain and now sitting reading all your lovely comments.

Good morning all. A horribly wet morning in Glasgow along with high winds of 34mph expected.

A cosy at home day to pick and choose from what’s on my to do list. The good news is, slipped disc has repaired, the bad news it has been replaced with sciatica/arthritis vying for first place re inflicting pain. Always on the look out for pain relief measures along with meds. exercises and a heat pad I tried Capsaicin cream last night which scored 10/10 for a pain free night. A full night’s sleep.

Good morning from another dull but dry,so far, Suffolk. Yesterday there were plenty of hospital car parking places as we arrived at 8.45 for my friend’s 9am appt but it was chaotic as we left to come home at 10.30! Cars parked on verges, at the end of rows restricting access to others and there are rumours that this car park is due for resurfacing.

There are no nearby side roads to park in and it must be a nightmare for those who are not very mobile.

I have my keep fit class this morning and then coffee afterwards with 3 friends from the class.

Love the socks Karmalady. DH was given some in a similar pattern last Christmas and they are worn often. Not handmade but loved by him and warm and cosy.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a dark, chilly miserable morning in North Yorkshire. After another rubbish night, I gave up about 4am, and put my dressing gown on and crept into the lounge to sit with a fleecy blanket round me. Sometimes after a bit of a sit up, my back eases and I can at least try to go back to bed and get a bit more sleep. Well not today. I sort of get to know when it isnt worth even trying to do that and so I read for a little while, but things were so painful I just couldnt really concentrate. So about 5ish I put the tv on without sound just to see if there was anything worth watching and cheers - there was an interview by Melvyn Bragg of David Hockney. I like his work and have admired much he has done. I was able to go to a big exhibition of his in York some time ago, and they had the wonderful Woldgate series of paintings there. Woldgate, and all across the east riding of yorkshire is home territory for me and I know Warter and all round there. So I enjoyed the programme and look forward to seeing more of his work whenever I can. So that was a much more cheering distraction, and then having put the water heater on, I then crept around collecting washing up and got that in and working, so by the time it is light enough, hopefully I shall get that on the line before going to the market later. They talk about showers later here so perhaps I shall be lucky and get it dry before the rain sets in. So the day improves with Bach to cheer me shortly, the washer chuntering along, and ah that first lovely coffee of the day!

Yesterday I went with a friend to Thirsk. The wonderful work of the Yarn Bombers is all round there and very worth looking at. I admire the actual works for their interest and variety, but also very much admire the brilliant work in designing these three d knitted things. There was all sorts, many poppies of course, a whole drift of red for humans and another purple for the animals killed in the war. Shops and cafes had all made an effort and it was all very well done. I was pleased to see the notice on Cafe Nero that they would be observing the 2 minute silence. We went in there after we got parked up for a coffee, well in time to then go across to where the whole group of armed forces, with flags etc and looking very smart were there to honour the dead. There were many other people like us who had gone to be there for 11 o clock, and it was all done very well. A young boy played the last post and everything, probably about 12 or 13, and did it all very well. I know I am a bit old fashioned , but with so many people being thoughtful and respectful of that time and occasion, I was sorry that traffic still continued to pass by and not stop, for that very short period. I am old enough to remember when everyone, cars buses or whatever used to come to a halt and that silence was everywhere. However it was a very moving moment for those of us standing there, and afterwards I went to say well done and thankyou to the young lad, as he was walking across the square. I thought he played beautifully and wanted to encourage him and let him know that his efforts were appreciated. He said thankyou and continued on his way, and a smartly dressed man said to me that this was the first occasion this young man had played in public at all, so that was a great responsibility for him to play on such an occasion. He is a member of a thirsk band, and so I congratulated them on the effort made and said I am sure he will remember his first time on such an occasion.

Well the rain continued down and we had a little wander about and of course I bought a couple of books from charity shops in my quest to get any Euro games. No success with them but I have at least alerted the staff to them and they had promised to look out for any, I didnt actually go to the games last night as had a visitor , and was quite happy to just stay at home. Didnt get the casserole made , what with one thing and another, so making that and going to the market are the only definite plans for today. Hope it isnt going to rain early as need to go on the buggy, nowhere practical to park on market day and not a cat in hells chance of walking today. (I wonder where that expression comes from? It seems odd now I look at it!)

Another quick look outside but closed curtains quickly. Looks a little lighter and dry at the moment but very cold, so time to get a bit more organised, check my shopping list, before the daylight improves and I can go to the market. I shall be able to enjoy all the christmas lights and decorations in the shop windows, especially Barkers, which is the local department store, who make quite an effort to decorate their windows. On the buggy I can drive past slowly or stop to look into them, which I cant do when I am driving of course. Methinks that I shall have a good look about and then go and have a coffee in Cafe Nero. Oh the exciting social life I lead, when the main concern for the day is if my washing dries well, and dont forget the mushrooms!!

Mick, hope the breathing improves as the day warms up. Glad you got your ride in yesterday. Both my father and my husband were RAF, but my grandfather was WW1 and was in the cavalry, and in WW2 he drove a fire engine. I have a picture of him in the engine and of course it is a very old fashioned one by todays standards, and I was able to let a museum have a copy to fit in with their exhibition one time.
GrandMattie, I think I would be hard put to it, whether to steal a Strad or a painting, makes for interesting ideas though,! Glad that you have got your new heater, which is the main point, I agree that is a horrible smell when it first starts, and how pennypinching and miserable they are about who pays for what, I would have thought the length of time that you have had to wait and all the hassle that they should be doing that as a good will gesture!! However your lot do not seem to know the meaning of good will do they? Well at least you will be able to write more complaining letters in the warm now! I do not want blasted AI and avoid it at all costs, where I can, but cannot help but think you might have got quicker service and less evasive attitude from an AI bot! Grandmabatty sorry you had such a horrible night. That is one problem when you are committed to helping with grandchildren. When it is just sorting your own days out, on a bad day you can just change your mind, give it up as a bad job and wait for a better day. But hope you can manage to get a rest for a while. I have just had my diabetic review, and have now been offered some new treatment that is supposed to be better to ward off heart problems etc etc. I said that I was interested, as they have already done 10 - 12 years research on it, and apparently it was only the cost that meant that the NHS wasnt offering it. However I also said that I would be happy to discuss it further and so forth but to try after christmas. Whilst the present metformin seems to be working well and I am (fingers crossed) on an even keel, I do not want to risk messing up healthwise over christmas with concerts and all sorts of things planned. I do find that I seem to be on a sort of balance, but if I get flu or an upset stomach then that seems to send me off, and I can have some ecxema and various other things, as I think my body keeps things going alright but any extra illness it sort of gives up on those things. I hope that you are able to find some better pain relief , and that you might get offered something that could help you more. Bellasnana hope you get your internet fixed .Ekwanimitee hope the jetlag goes soon. Dont know about you, but I do think all these changes bother me much more these days. I remember doing long journeys, changing time zones etc etc and just managing to adjust quite easily. I think the three wishes that I would want these days would be to be able to sleep easily and when I wanted to, to wake up painless , and to be able to move at the pace I used to !! RoseandLilac I have never tried any zoom lessons. It seems to take me all my time just to plod on as I do now, but think that perhaps a new years resolution is to make an effort to move on from basic things and learn how to do zoom safely and how to post good pictures as so many of you do. We shall see how things go. Karmalady the socks look great , You seem to manage to do so many things at once. I have been in a few tremors, but only in one earthquake, when I lived in Portugal. My first thought that a lorry had backed into the building but watchin the ripple up the wall and the chandelier shaking and rattling I hastily went to an outside wall, so if the building had gone I would hopefully be ok. It is hard to remember to do that and not instinctively run for the stairs. Actually we were at the coast and the more dangerous thing was a tidal wave, but fortunately the centre was out to sea and though the sea came well over the road etc it was no danger to any of the buildings.

Good morning from a damp and breezy Torbay following a wet and windy evening!

As we were on Front of House duty, I went out in smart black garb as required with my Tilly hat to fend off the weather! DH, as Manager, had the unenviable task of moving the cones on the car park, needed to encourage patrons to park considerately and being mindful of the possibility of emergency vehicles needing access.

All credit to the players in their delivery of this difficult production. Unfortunately, one patron caused a disturbance by calling out and eventually I escorted him out of the auditorium and DH organised a taxi to take him home. Before the performance began, he had taken full advantage of the cheap drinks available in our theatre bar ….. 🍷🍹🍸

After the performance ended, I helped a lady who was on sticks to exit via the disabled access into a waiting car driven by her sister and ended up very wet indeed (minus benefit of hat!) DH has history of problems when he is on duty!

Every sympathy with Grandmabatty, harrigran and others such as dragonfly in pain, whether physical or emotional.

Good morning and it’s damp and Novemberish here in Essex.

Yesterday was busy (again) with phone calls, decisions (again), physio and I fitted in a much needed pedicure.

Today I’ll pop into town as it’s market day, hopefully pick up DH’s new glasses, bank, M and S food hall and a coffee with my friend. Lots to chat about.

A busy day today but not a tiring one at least I don’t think so!
This morning a FaceTime call with mum.After an early lunch we are going to spend a couple of hours with DD’s FIL, my dear friends husband.He is recovering after being on life support a short while ago but is doing amazingly well.We will collect DGD from school after her club then a quick meal and off to dance where they are busy rehearsing for this years pantomime.

Grandmabatty I am sorry you have had a painful night.I hope today is easier, same for anyone with pain.It is so debilitating.

Brook enjoy Vienna.DH and I did the grand tour of Austria for our honeymoon and spent a few days in Vienna.We loved it and still say we will go back one day.

Good morning everyone from a very grey and wet Northampton; I wish I could stay in today, but I must get to Sainsbury's to get the fresh stuff for my wine evening tomorrow. I could have it delivered but I don't trust them to pick the nicest freshest stuff or the longest use-by date...

At least it stayed dry yesterday for my cinema visit - I met my friend at the cinema and we.watched the new film 'The Choral'. It was absolutely brilliant and I thoroughly recommend it.

Today is DGD1's 18th birthday - where has the time gone? I remember DS phoning us on the morning she was born, absolutely beside himself with joy and pride! She of course will be at school, so I am calling round to see her late afternoon with card and present. I had the privilege of taking her to her first day at school, as her mum and dad were both working. And now she is a very grown-up and confident young lady, ready to take on the world. DH would have been so proud.

Ok, I am saying what is in my mind. The aurora is the physical appearance of the plasma affecting earth right now. We have had the biggest solar flares in this sun cycle and the biggest, worst, ejections speeding to earth to bombard us. The emfs and magnetic changes are severe and will affect people and animals, we have much saline solution in our bodies and this is highly conductive. Mental and physical health affected

I am seeing this now in one of my Dds. Hence pain, inflammations and melt downs and headaches and heart attacks etc

Sit tight and just plod for a few days

Good morning from. A brightening northwest coast. The usual music club yesterday and as one of us three organisers is still recuperating, I had the choice again of doing the tea and biscuits for the break, or being on the desk hosting. No contest, I like staying out of the kitchen so was on the desk, which I festoon with fairy lights for a showbiz feel.

FaceTime with DD and sister in the south later and fell asleep (again) in front of the TV.
I mentioned mouth taping to a friend and she has tried it, sending me a text to say how marvellous it was and thanking me, having had really good nights’ sleep. I can’t see too much of a difference myself but will carry on with it.
Tonight to opera co rehearsal so will do some note bashing today. I usually go to a lunchtime recital on a Wednesday but have decided against it today, my weeks are getting too busy.

My arm is still black and blue from bloods taken last Thursday, I have to make sure it’s covered so as not to invite comments !
I hope Karmaisn’t right about the various predictions ! I love the socks , I used to knit , but confine myself to crochet now !
I did once crochet socks …. Not a good idea !

DH is suddenly convinced that he might not make 78 and is contemplating bringing forward all the wild ideas on his bucket list. Oh dear ......that could be very expensive.

Well, better go an empty the washing machine.

Ashcombe, I was told by a Consultant that I wouldn’t reach 80, this was when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer,, I was 61 at the time and he must have thought that I would think I had lots of time left so I wouldn’t worry about it.
I am 88 now and think every birthday and every Christmas will be my last.🥹
My family joke about it.
I hope your DH has a very Happy Birthday and many more.
