Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

After some decent nights here I am No idea of the ‘why” of my sleep or indeed non sleep patterns. We’re forecast a lot of rain today roses, yesterday there was thick ice to scrape from the car before we could go out. Temperatures well into the minus range. It turned into a beautifully sunny day which tempted us to a short walk on the prom and a long sit in a cafe. Of course I had forgotten the supermarket list, miraculously I remembered most on it, another miracle the store was relatively quiet.

Although Mr C finds them hilarious my wool, multi coloured, wrist warmers keep my hands fairly warm at home. I add (bright pink!) fingerless gloves when I need to. Mr C gets very cold hands now, blood thinners to blame, will he wear the boring black fingerless gloves I bought him at home? Of course not. He will wear gloves when he’s outside, if he remembers to take some. I’ve sort of given up reminding him, there are more important fights to have around his health. Oh well, I’ll stop rambling and find a library book, these days my library access is mostly on line, the iPad is a wonderful thing! Hope everyone is warm and resting, even if not sleeping.

Morning all 4 15 today from 11.30 so nearly 5 hours that’s an excellent night for me
It doesn’t feel so cold today my iPad says 1 degree so not minus any more I can’t hear any wind or rain so I m hopeful it’s just a normal winters day
Nothing to do today as I got the shopping in yesterday so it’s a twiddle my thumbs day
Sundays are not the best day when you live alone it’s one of my allotment days when the weathers good Anyway onwards and upwards as they say hope everyone has a good one

Wide awake and off to make a cup of tea and have a look out of the back door. Roll on the mornings when it will be light and the birds singing.

I will try Wordle, scan the news headlines and then read. Very quiet in the house and outside.....apart from hissing tinnitus.

Hopefully after tea and a read I will fall asleep for a while, but I doubt it. It's difficult to remember how wonderful it was to sleep through till the alarm. Years back now in the days of work. But it is a comfort to realise just how common this interrupted sleep pattern is.

We have been watching The Night Manager series 1 and I quite enjoyed it once I got into it. But its not a patch on Tinker Tailor from the 70s. But maybe the younger generations would find that too tame and slow. Le Carre had a cameo part in the The NM which reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock appearing in his films. The 10 years since. The NM first hit the TV screen have flown by.

Just woken up, so nearly eight hours. But a lot of visits to the loo as I am drinking so much water.
Looks wet out.

BlueBelle Sun 11-Jan-26 07:57:49

I went back to sleep and then had the wretched ‘ looking for a loo’ dream I must have gone round half of England in my dream, asking everyone I could see, where the toilet was, but no one knew, I was even resorting to going down a cliff to go on the beach, but a big, aggressive dog put paid to that plan.
Then I woke up

Aveline Sun 11-Jan-26 08:03:07

I have those dreams too! They're just awful. I think I've found a loo but it's just a chair. I suppose that time might come!

Mollygo Sun 11-Jan-26 08:08:10

Woke at 5 for a loo visit but was quickly back to sleep, so a good night for me. The alarm went off at 7.50 to remind me to put the washing machine on to use our “free electricity.”
It has been raining, but the wind is ferocious!

MayBee70 Sun 11-Jan-26 08:48:22

I had a dream in which I did find a loo but then, as I was sitting on it all of a sudden I realised I was fully exposed in a room full of people. In fact I had another loo dream the very same night/morning but can’t remember what happened in it….was just left with that ‘I’ve just had a horrible dream’ feeling that stays with you for ages. Having had my usual broken sleep because of loo visits my dog always wakes me up for her breakfast just as I’ve gone back to sleep. But after I’ve fed her I take my iron tablets and then put on Jason Stephenson get back to sleep fast which is on utube. There are many different ones but they all concentrate on breathing etc. They always get me back to sleep. I told someone about them in a doctors waiting room once and after I’d seen the doctor she said she’d just listened to one and almost fell asleep in the waiting room. I’m going to listen to one now as I haven’t had enough sleep to get me through the day.

SORES Mon 12-Jan-26 03:26:58

well it’s only me up and checking in, while Grans are sweetly sleeping?!
I was suddenly wide awake, wondering whatever happened to Gnarls Barklay?
my brain is tangential at these times
I made herbal tea, the Sleep one, on offer at Sainsbury
after the obligatory wee of course

Grammaretto Mon 12-Jan-26 03:40:02

I wish SORES 🤔 😕
I must have had a few hours but fear that's it. I've been commenting on GN and playing games.
Now to read for a bit.
Was the tea nice?

Castle25 Mon 12-Jan-26 03:43:51

No sleep yet for me. Think it’s unlikely now. Have tried some cocoa and reading. Both DH and the dog are sound. Have to get up at 7 as it’s childminding day.

SORES Mon 12-Jan-26 03:58:41

Grammaretto - ‘morning! yes thanks, it is passionflower and something, camomile maybe, a delicate flavour.

I’m a bit hungry too, I may have a couple of weetabix, in the absence of sherry trifle or anything else more appealing.

I pad into the kitchen, open the fridge door and stare inside, willing there to be enticing, tasty, interesting foodstuffs for immediate consumption, though there seldom is. No, make that never.

The weather is warmer for sure, so that’s good.

Grammaretto Mon 12-Jan-26 04:00:17

Castle that's miserable 😣.
Will you and the child be able to snooze together?

SORES Mon 12-Jan-26 04:09:45

Castle25, you are still 3 hours off 7 o clock, wishing you some sleep at least

Purplepixie Mon 12-Jan-26 04:45:23

I slept till 3am and wide awake now.
Usual family stuff going through my head. Outside I’m laughing while inside I’m crying. Fedup of being Fedup!!!
I’m getting up now to do some knitting with a hot water bottle to keep warm.
Sleep well!

Greenfinch Mon 12-Jan-26 04:45:47

Have been awake since 1pm so managed two hours. Have done Wordle, followed some tennis from America and taken some codeine. Will now read for an hour but wish my book was more interesting. Hope others are having a reasonable night.

Greenfinch Mon 12-Jan-26 04:46:54

Should be 1am of course. Totally confused!

Wyllow3 Mon 12-Jan-26 04:48:05

Full of flu as well as awake...best "rest of nights", GN's.

Greenfinch Mon 12-Jan-26 04:51:44

Sorry you are not well Wyllow. Have you taken any medication for it? Flu can be miserable.

BlueBelle Mon 12-Jan-26 05:21:25

Morning everyone a good night for me, I can’t remember if
I ve been awake or not but I am now It sounds calm outside (hopefully) sorry to hear you ve got the flu Wyllow get well soon

HelterSkelter1 Mon 12-Jan-26 05:41:33

Woke up and thought it must be 5.00 and it was 11.30! So disappointed, but managed to go back to sleep till 5.00 so not too bad a night.

Don't fancy tea or coffee so I am drinking a glass of hot water.

Several years ago I had a jaw problem and used a mouth guard at night. I think I need to start wearing it again as the jaw joint on one side is painful. I must be grinding my teeth. The dentist made the mouth guard and now I have popped it in my jaw jpint feels more comfortable.

Wordle now then read.

It does feel a lot warmer in my Arctic kitchen. There's a rather cloudy small moon, but I don't think it is raining and the wind has dropped.

grandMattie Mon 12-Jan-26 05:41:57

Me too, I’ve had a reasonable night. Didn’t want to post for fear of appearing a show off rather than profoundly grateful for it.
Sorry about the ‘flu, wyllow. Hope it passes soon.
Sleep tight tonight y’all.

Castle25 Mon 12-Jan-26 06:01:35

Alas no sleep so finished my book. I’m well aware the iPad doesn’t help me sleeping. Fortunately dgd will keep me too busy to feel tired till she leaves. Well done to those who managed a few hours and fingers crossed for tonight to those who didn’t.

Castle25 Mon 12-Jan-26 06:04:17

gramaretto it has been mentioned before that I’ve let out snore while she was napping beside me blush

JamesandJon33 Mon 12-Jan-26 07:48:15

We are away from home for a few days. Slept well, which is just as well, otherwise I might have asked for my money back.
