I’m finding it hard to watch the report by the Covid Inquiry but feel I owe it to my DH to watch.

Oh Yia my poor baby. Very necessary, but he will not understand. He certainly would help me and he would enjoy the cuddles. I have adopted two other cats owned by a GN and I have "known" both since they were kittens. They live a long way away from London but it is only a matter of time.

I hope all the poorlies are feeling better. Keep warm everybody- how long is this weather going to last?

Catteries can be so varied as I discovered when Tara and the previous cat were alive. It didn't always work out leaving a cat at home and asking a neighbour to care for it. Tara was frequently slightly sick, and when I returned, there were small dollops on the carpet, with a piece of paper towel covering them.

TillyTrotter I would be able to look after my adopted boys and they would be loved and cared for.

Please look after yourselves and hopefully this cold weather will vanish soon.

Such a difficult meeting, neine, truly heartbreaking.

A rare trip to our local theatre this evening. Mr C’s choice, 60’s popular music mixed with R&B. I loved it. Lifted squashed spirits as more family issues have arrived like a tsunami.

If it’s OK I’ll head off to the quiet corner and find a chair. There’s a lot to think about and unpack. I’m not sure if I’m more sad or angry with external forces. It will pass, of course it will, just take its time.

Ooh what a lovely festive kitchen- thankyou for opening up Jax- it’s warm and cozy in here and the aroma from
the soup and bread are making me feel hungry even though it’s bedtime!
Hugs and thoughts to all with worries of whatever kind- I’ve brought a poinsettia and my newly flowering ( pink flowers) cactus- which has thrived on not much care I’m ashamed to say.
It usually lives on the utility room window and gets watered once a week! 🌸 x

Another bitterly cold day here, but we did have a sunny afternoon. I didn’t risk a walk this morning as it was still frosty.
I had my hair done this afternoon, cut and coloured, feeling less scruffy now. Good to catch up with news of my hairdresser’s family and some of the village news.

The poinsettia looks very Christmassy, is there room for a small Christmas tree?
I must get a poinsettia for myself, will need to find a warm home for it. I can usually keep them flowering for several months, but haven’t had one for two years as I’ve been at DD1’s recovering from hip surgery. I shall go OTT this year with sparkly lights etc!

A cold day here too, but a lovely lunch out with granddaughter Imogen, she’s such a joy, we laugh a lot. Home for the grocery delivery, earlier new phones arrived, it’s keeping me occupied, MrJ is at bowls.

Good evening everyone. Another busy day cooking. I made the Christmas cake and DH dealt with the chicken from the Tesco order. I meant to order one 1.5kg pack but unfortunately got 2 by mistake. Curry, chicken with cider and apples, chicken pasta sauce with sun dried tomatoes, whole chicken breasts for grilling, pieces of chicken for fajitas … You get the picture!

I'll test for covid in the morning Jaxjacky. I don't think it's that, but want to be sure. I've had a bowl of porridge for dinner and gone back to bed

Lots of chicken meals to get through Nannytopsy 😀 we had Friday fish, chips &peas, not from the chippy but oven chips and prepared fish etc so nice and quick and easy.
I’ve been out all day doing a volunteering session, it’s really busy just now and they’re very appreciative of our time but thank goodness it quietens down in a week or so and I can get on with doing other things.
When I got home I started going through the old boxes that we’d found in the loft, there’s one special box that had lots of keepsakes from when my children were little. School reports, handmade cards, certificates of achievement etc I even found their old christening robe and the handmade knitted shawl that I’d make 40+ years ago. Goodness knows what I’ll do with it now though. There was also a really interesting school coursework project that DD1 had done, so much intricate work that must have taken hours. I sent her a photo but she doesn’t remember doing any of it! I can’t bear to throw it all away so I’ll make a new box for each of my 3 children and put all their own keepsakes in for them to do something with sometime in the future. As you can see I’m not very good at this decluttering stuff …

It’s very quiet in here today, I guess everyone is busy!
One of my sons in law came over this morning and changed a lightbulb for me - I couldn’t reach it and don’t do step ladders any more. He also got all the Christmas decorations and the tree down from the loft for me to sort out, also a big box of ‘cuddlies’ most of those went in the bin, even the dog wasn’t interested in playing with them!

nannytopsy have you managed to cook all the chicken now? I inadvertently ordered a kilo of chicken breasts this week, instead of 4 chicken breasts. I’ve cut them up into manageable pieces and they’re in the freezer! I’m trying to eat more things from the freezer, but not having much success really.

Lots of chicken meals in the freezer now plus some packets of chicken for two. Now, 2 kg of Greek yoghurt to deal with - another mistake!
A busy morning getting items for 4 different events I am involved with, then sorting out which treasurer owes me what. Then lots of rugby and now Match of the Day. Wolves lost again. Are they going down?

I'm feeling a lot better thank you all. Dgs2 had a good party and thoroughly enjoyed himself. He had one wobbly moment when it all was too much for him but cuddles with mum helped. I was there for most of it courtesy of my aunt and uncle. I've had a quiet evening and an early night. However I don't sleep well and this is one of those nights. I might get up for a cuppa soon. I hope everyone is sleeping!

Another bitterly cold day yesterday but today will be much warmer.

I may retire to bed until Spring because I have just replaced my outdoor aerial, the central heating system had a rest and now I have been told this object is on its last legs.

Still, Rachel will be helping me on Thursday, so all will be sorted!!! I confess to being a rich pensioner, not on benefits!

I couldn't sleep, so I decided to have a cup of coffee and hope this item doesn't die during use.

I hope you both got back to sleep GrandmaBatty & Charleygirl . I was only awake for moments at about 4 so had nearly 8 hours sleep. Amazing - the best night in weeks!
It’s chilly and pouring down again in Suffolk. Sausage rolls to make today for the freezer. I’m off to Cambridge for the day tomorrow to meet a friend to catch up over lunch and swap Christmas presents. Knowing what Cambridge is like, it will be my big coat!
