Nannytopsy I did get back to sleep, thank you, and didn't get up til eight. Currently on my second coffee and then a day pottering inside. The weather is awful. Enjoy your day in Cambridge.

Good morning all.
I am coming very briefly out of the quiet corner today to go to an Inner Wheel lunch with my friend across the road.
My face has not improved much but I will cost it liberally with foundation and try to be inconspicuous.
My friend is not one to let down or to make excuses to.

Another friend and I visited a mutual former neighbour on Thursday, she had had her 89th birthday on the previous Saturday
What a shock we got when we reached her apartment, she lives in a McCarthy and Stone complex.
She had come out of hospital two days previously, we didn’t know, and she looked so dreadful.
She wasn’t dressed not remembering that we were visiting.
She had no teeth in and her hair had been washed and just left to dry, hanging round her face.
We were shocked and could have wept for her.

The next day I received a phone call from my Goddaughter at 8:30 am, she and her H had just dropped their D off at Manchester airport and could they call in for coffee?
I had to “jump” out of bed and hastily throw some clothes on but it was so lovely to see them.
They are a lovely couple and a joy to see.
It is a shock to the system though that they are 62 and 60,
I still think of them as a young married couple.
I must stir myself now to get in the shower and into my glad rags, out at noon.

I send my very best wishes as usual to those whose lives are not on a even keel presently, I am sure all our thoughts are with you all.

Looks like there is plenty of food in the new kitchen I will leave some drinks .Glad you are feeling a bit better Grandmabatty. Sounds like everyone is busy preparing for Christmas, I have wrapped some presents but have more to buy.Best wishes to all.

Have just put a beef joint in the oven, made cauliflower cheese, some for tonight and two lots to freeze.

Hi all, a drier day today and I made stuffing for five families, two are friends of my daughter’s, word gets round, it’s my Dad’s recipe.
I do hope you’re enjoyed today utbb, so nice having a meal made for you.
Three houses in our road have their Christmas lights up, half of me is ‘too early’ the other half ‘ahh, they’re so pretty’, a child at heart.
Gammon in the slow cooker, an easy meal.

Hi kitchen pals, hope everyone is doing well
I’ve eventually made a start on the Christmas shopping, although still lots to do. I always try to be organised well in advance but it never seems to work out that way
I’ve been out at DD2s most of the day, we went for coffee this morning and ended up staying for lunch until mid afternoon We helped out doing a few jobs and got to see both DGC before they went out. Pre teen DGS still answers almost every question with Dunno unless it’s about food then it’s Yeah. There’s a bit more two way conversation with DGD who talks non stop 🤣
Our Christmas lights and decoration boxes are ready and waiting to go Jax .. we might make a start tomorrow

I can’t say I enjoyed my outing .
I only knew my friend and we were at tables of 10 which were too big to have a conversation with anyone but the people next to us.
So as not to be antisocial my friend and I talked to the people on the other side of us.
I found it quite hard work as did my friend whose neighbour got into politics, not the subject for a friendly lunch, Starmer got a hammering as did the Palestinians!!!
I was shocked.
The meal also left much to be desired.

I shall have a week close to home now to hope my nose starts to heal.
The makeup made it sting quite badly.
The weather was awful, fitted the occasion.
What a Grinch I am today.

Oh dear utbb that sounds a bit dismal. Always difficult when you’re on a big table with lots of people you don’t know. Politics is never a good topic for a social occasion, that and religion! I hope your nose will heal this week.
jaxjacky I put up some fairy lights indoors today, struggled to reach the top shelf to attach the lights to, but managed with the assistance of sticky tape and the picker-upper! I did think about standing on the armchair but thought better of it! I’ll put some in the garden, now I’ve decided where to put them, but it does seem a bit early.
For a change of habit, I’ve decided to wrap presents as I buy them, rather than leave it until I’ve bought everything and then have to wrap it all at once.

Himself was admitted to the Christie at 2am this morning. I’ve been with him all day. He’s on iv antibiotics and my heart just broke when I looked back at him on the ward. He’s been through so much - how much more? I’m just home. I’ve showered, had marmalade on toast and a mug of tea and I plan to be in bed by 9pm. I cried when I came into our apartment. I’m actually sitting in ‘his’ chair so I don’t have to look at it being empty. I’m in bits really tonight.

I have just popped in to catch up when I saw your post FGT2. You must be so sad and feel defeated. But don't give up hope. I bet there is comfort to be had in himself's chair - a bit like a hug. I wish I could give you a real one.

I’ve been trying to catch up with all the Kitcheners news, you’re all so busy. I’ve also been doing a lot and trying to keep all the plates in the air. Ds2 has been staying with us, he has been so stressed with everything in life, he’s normally Mr Cool. He went back home yesterday, looking brighter. Ds1 unfortunately didn’t get into the new drug trial. His genetics weren’t a match for what they were looking for, so it’s back to chemo for now. We hope something else will come along. Ds2 is going to go out to visit him, which I hope will boost both of them.

My mother also threw her hat into the messy mix last week, suddenly phoning me up to tell me that she was going to end her life if I didn’t go to see her that minute. I called the care home (couldn’t go there as I was about to collect GC from school!) and it seems that she was having a bad day. She seemed back to normal the next day, though she is getting more and more confused. I have to confess to wondering what it’s all for, though, what’s the point?

I’ve done some bits of Christmas shopping, as I’ve spotted things. I’m also planning what we’ll do and so on. Dd2 & sil will be coming. People have put up lights and decorations round here. Normally I’d be most disapproving but I think life is so miserable for so many right now that we need something to cheer us up and keep us going. I’m going to do outdoor decs on 1st December this year, which is unheard of for me!

Before Christmas I’m hoping to get the sittingroom decorated. I’m fed up of boring white and have chosen a dark yellow which I think will warm up the room a lot. It’s north facing so quite dark in winter. I’m aiming to make it cosy.

Good evening Kitcheners.

I’m trying to recover from a very hectic but brilliant weekend celebrating our twins 50th birthday.Big party last night we organised the venue catering etc and all went very well.It was lovely to have family and friends from the boys school days, so many memories.I was on the dance floor a lot so of course in pain and little sleep but was worth it.
DGS1 has left uni.He was so unhappy and it just wasn’t for him.He has now applied for a few apprenticeships and jobs.Its a shame but he needs to be happy.

More hospital appointments this week for DH and my first pre op on the 3rd for cataracts,I’m hopeful it will be done soon and I can drive again.

We went into a local town yesterday and we were quite shocked by an aggressive number of St George’s flags and Union Jacks. About half of the Union Jacks were upside down which said it all. I am sad that we can’t fly a flag now without giving a certain message.
