Neine hope chemo gives your doggy more time with you, my son was made redundant last August it's a worrying time .

Our lovely family have taken the road to the Lake District. We have no snow or ice on our roads but, as they journey south, it's possible that they will hit worsening conditions.

Today I was out with dd for a shopping expedition and we visited a lovely wee cafe where I had a scrambled egg roll and tea. The only thing I bought was a calendar! Dd came in to fix my new phone so most of the afternoon I have been playing with it. We had a very heavy snow shower earlier but it's stopped now, thank goodness. Dinner will be chipolatas on hotdogs rolls which is what I fancy. Take care all

Neine All animals are truly precious and, when family pets falls sick, the heartache grows greater with each passing day. Our dear neighbour's beloved dog died recently. They buried him in the garden alongside other deceased pets. Their graves are surrounded with bulbs of flowers that bloom at the
time of year to honour their "passing".

Ladyleftfieldlover, I trust that your painful toe is responding to antibiotics.

Grndmabatty We watched Tinker, Tailor, Soldier... etcetera as we have done on numerous occasions. The acting and actors are Superb.

As I have left dear Mr Soop to carry on alone with stripping the sitting room of all the twinkly stuff, I see that the best part of the afternoon has whizzed by...and I feel a tindgy bit guilty for ignoring him.

I shall therefore wish you a fond farewell. Bless you, one and all for your kindnessess. I shall return to our Kichen again at some time tomorrow.

Bitterly cold again today and rain all day, but only breezy fortunately. So many photos on Facebook of the damage in Cornwall caused by the storm. Sad to see so many large trees uprooted, but fortunately no loss of life reported.

So many in the kitchen have ‘buggerations’ to contend with.

Neine So sorry to hear about the redundancy, and I do hope that your poor dog is not in any pain. Your surgery on top of all of this is almost too much, but once it is over, you will feel so much better.

It has been dreich, drizzly and perishingly cold here in London. Two days ago I blinked, and we had 2"of snow; it didn't last, but the pavements resembled ice rinks. I will stay indoors for as long as it takes. Spring is around the corner.

I promise not to moan in July when I am sweltering hot.

grandmabatty sorry you’re feeling unwell, a nap might help?
I had a panic this morning when I lost power to all the electrical sockets in the house. My DD was here, and her partner, and my next door neighbour sorted the problem, confirmed by my friendly electrician when he arrived a few minutes later . He will order a new consumer unit for me and fit it as soon as it arrives. I know how to fix the problem if it happens again before I get the replacement unit.
It then took me three attempts to reprogram the underfloor heating in the bathroom. (First world problems)
I’ve just removed the fairy lights from one of the windows and am now recovering with my feet up and a coffee.
Keep warm everyone, it’s still perishing cold here.

Thank you Redcar. I think I'm suffering from the January blues! I'm struggling a bit to get things done and am getting cross with myself . 😀The incessant cold isn't helping. I'm glad you got your power fixed.

Oh Grandmabatty I totally understand January Blues I am very deep in the doldrums myself, exacerbated by being only a quarter way through a long course of steroids, and some other lung meds.

I am meant to be going up to London tomorrow for the last performance of this year’s pantomime at the London Palladium. Currently sitting here trying to find an excuse not to go. Silly me, I know I will enjoy it, good friends, a meal booked in a restaurant we all like beforehand.

Added to which I think DH is looking forward to a day and evening on his own 🤷‍♀️

Sorry some of you are feeling unwell or unable to get going. Am much the same , my DH is going through a bout of insomnia, he gets up several times and feels disorientated and upset so am feeling a bit pooped today, also arthritis isn’t giving up.
Still the weather was so much better today and I pushed for DH to go out for a walk, felt much better for it. Felt more like spring than winter. Will be so glad to see the lighter nights start to gain a foothold.
Hope you all managed to get out and enjoy it in some small way today.

Grannygravy that's me exactly! I had two offers today to do stuff but I really didn't want to. I know I would have enjoyed both but talked myself out of it. I've managed to strip the bed, prune and water house plants and clean the bathroom, so I've achieved something. I'm going polish and hoover while watching Where Eagles Dare. "Broadsword calling Danny Boy." Do what you want to GG.
Fallingstar I sympathise with your husband. I sleep badly most nights.

Dear Kitcheners thank you for thinking of me.All went well with the cataract op.I’m thrilled to be able to see so well already with only one eye done.It was all very quick and I was home by 10am.I feel exhausted today but managed not to cough during the procedure.

We have had daughter and Gd and Gs this afternoon so lifted the spirit.

Good news Yiayia. Avoid bending and lifting. Remember you have had surgery and should rest. My prescription for glasses went from -12+ to -2.5. No-one at the opticians could believe it!

yiayia I’m so pleased that your cataract operation went well. Take it easy for a week or two!
grannygravy and grandmabatty I’m another who is feeling a bit glum at the moment, I’ve always found January a difficult month to get through, it seems longer than 31 days!! I’d like to hibernate until the end of February!

Yiayia4 I understand how happy you are feeling now that you've had one cataract removed. I need a second op', but I do not know when the surgery may happen. Yes, managing not to cough during the procedure is vital.

Grandmabatty and Grannygravy13 we are all permitted to have "down days"...it's called being 'uman. Grannygravy 13 I am inclined to place some blame on the wretched steroids.

Fallingstar Your dear husband's bout of insomnia is bound to distress him. A walk in today's pleasant sunshine will have helped to raise his flagging spirits.

Redcar Thank goodness your power was swiftly restored. Our families trip as far as The Lake District went without a major hiccup. They will be home any time soon. They kindly left us a tasty meal for last evening and this lunchtime.

I am suffering from serious creaking/grinding knee joints. As I lower myself to sit, Mr Soop winces when he hears the sounds. The nurse suggests that it is due to loss of cartilage and that I may need to take supplements to correct matters. Hey ho! As our friend, Baggs is known to say.

Great to hear you so upbeat Yiayia. We had DGC overnight, at short notice, so that DS & DiL could go out. Once they had gone home I took the granddog for a slow walk, with lots of sniffing. Her, not me!. 🤣 She was very interested in the white hen we met just up the lane! I have met both of that family’s hens out and about and I have seen a fox recently… Watch this space!
It was cold but sunny, so a lovely walk. I started off thinking “Do I really need a new hip?” and got home thinking “Yes, I probably do!” Walking is the easiest movement, it’s everything else that hurts more.
Jax when I had my knee, I found the private physio ( no support from NHS here) was the most helpful person I met. More knowledgeable about post op than our GP and able to say what was normal, what to expect, what to aim for. I am glad you were reassured.
