Neine thank you for the prayers. I’m sorry you have so many troubles on your plate at the moment. FWIW, one of our previous cats had lymphoma. We declined treatment as he was 16 and it would be a 240 miles round trip each time in the car he hated. He lived his life quite normally for another five months, going about his catty business with his brother, then had a rapid decline over two or three weeks before we made The Decision. It was right for us and him we feel.
I hope you’re recovering from the cataract op, Yiayia.
Soop the Kitchen is so wonderful because even when I’ve not contributed for a while, I feel at home as soon as I metaphorically step over the threshold. ❤️

Grandmabatty & Grannygravy, I think a lot of us feel like we’re walking through sludge at the moment. The weather has been relentless since New Year and we’re still quite a way off Spring. A friend said to look at things the other way round. Getting out of bed in the morning is an achievement! Taking a shower, ditto. Washed your hair as well? Well done you! Don’t count the things you didn’t do.
Nannytopsy there’s an infamous hen in my daughter’s village. There are frequent posts on Facebook, either from the owner asking if anyone has seen her red hen because she’s gone missing or there are posts from those not in the know, saying they’ve seen a red hen running around and does anyone know who it belongs to? 🐓

I tidied our bedroom earlier this week, three bags to the charity shop and a much neater space, where I can find things. I’m also condensing our CD collection by putting the discs into thinner envelopes. We’ve a lot of CD’s so it’ll take a while.

We had both GC together this week. They’re at the stage where they are mostly knocking lumps out of each other at any chance. It was our youngest DD’s first wedding anniversary this week. I mentioned it to GD and she said ‘Wow! A decade married already!’ 🤣🤣🤣 I did say it might have felt like a decade but it was really only twelve months.

We’ve been tolerating the weather is probably the best I can say of our climate currently! We had minimal snow but it’s been so very cold, making it treacherous underfoot. Tomorrow is predicted to be rain all day but the temperature will rise to 8deg so hopefully the ice will all disappear.

Our SiL is coming on Tuesday to collect their dog ( here since Christmas) and I had a nice dinner planned once the two littlest were in bed. Now we have the other half of the family joining us, so 10 for tea at 5:30! Glad I didn’t get that duckling on Saturday 🤣

sueDonim a consumer unit is a posh name for a fuse box. Mine was fitted 19 years ago when we had the house rewired and was “state of the art” at that time. Apparently it’s old fashioned now, goodness knows what the new one will be like. No doubt it will dent the bank balance when it arrives!

The wonderful Social Services brought DH a trolley today with trays which means he can carry stuff.
To celebrate he emptied the dishwasher- only problem was it hadn’t been on!

That made me smile dragonfly. Apologies, although a smile was much needed here today so thank you, the January blues have arrived with a vengeance. Ours was full of clean dishes yesterday when Mr C wandered into the kitchen and put his lunch dirties in, very pleased he’d been able to find space for them in what he described as a packed dishwasher. Err, yes!

Joking aside the trolley feels a very positive and helpful addition.

Good news about the trolley with trays.
Had to chuckle. My DH has physical, cognitive and visual impairments due to a stroke and does some weird and wonderful things. The latest was that he managed to crack some eggs over a glass bowl for me to make an omelette, the OT is keen on him doing a bit of cooking, fact is he did precious little before the stroke, but hey ho, anyway he put the shells carefully to one side and then threw the eggs in the bin.
He did actually laugh about it but that was the last of the eggs so we had soup for lunch.

Hello kitchen people and specially soop! Enjoy watching the television.

I popped into Waitrose this morning to collect some parcels and buy milk and cream. I was fine driving but walking in a boot is still painful. The swelling on my toe has gone down but it still looks grim and is an interesting colour.

I am relaxing on the sofa at the moment with Ripley the tabby cat. She is purring and staring lovingly at me.

At some point I will wander into the kitchen and start preparing dinner. Before Christmas when younger son visited I roasted rather a large beef joint. I froze half of it so today it will be transformed into Cottage pie. Pudding will be a baked treacle pudding (Ferguson Henderson recipe) which will be served with lashings of cream.

I've been been keeping an eye on you from the quiet corner since I came home from hospital and am sending love to everyone with problems and struggles at the moment. Post op brain won't let me remember everyone and I would hate to miss anyone out.

All is going well here. I came home the day after surgery and that aspect of my recovery is going well. What isn't going quite so well are the gastric issues following on from my gall bladder removal.

Suffice to say that I have been prescribed some binding medication which seems to be working - most of the time

Sounds grim Kitty although I am glad you are home. Llfl keep an eye for red streaks from that toe.
Today I have been much more productive. I went to aldi for some bits, then home and emptied and loaded the dishwasher. Then I roasted a gammon and made lentil soup in the slow cooker. Finally I polished and hoovered then cleared out the airing cupboard and threw out odd sheets etc. I might make pineapple upside down cake later. Enjoy the rest of Sunday

Today I can see how bad my cleaning has been and that of my cleaner!!Dh is doing the the cooking at the moment(lamb shanks tonight) he seems to enjoy it so that’s good.My sons and grandsons are coming to put rubbish out and help with any lifting.Thats the only problem as DH can’t lift at all.Never mind won’t be long and I will be back to normal.
Thinking of Neine 🌻 and hope Grannmarie is well.

cornergranand dragonfly I have to admit to putting dirty cups into a dishwasher full of clean plates etc. A lack of concentration on my part! Fortunately my dishwasher has a half hour program, useful in such circumstances!
You’ve been busy today grandmabatty.
DD1 and family visited this afternoon so the Christmas tree and boxes of decorations are back in the loft. Both dgds had homework to do, the 10 year old was doing long division and the 7 year old was doing tests online on the 8 times table. Her mum was reading out the questions and I could remember the tables, so could my son in law but my DD couldn’t as they didn’t pay them much attention at her school!
Now raining here and a bit less cold. Have a pleasant evening everyone.

A better day today, I’m finding enforced restrictions quite hard whilst strictly adhering to them.
My son has found a rental, he’ll move out on the 23rd, it’s been enormously helpful having him here ‘mum sitting’ for short periods.

I enjoyed my day in London, the Panto was OK, despite supposedly being Sleeping Beauty, the link was somewhat tenuous 😹

Time spent with good friends is invaluable. Three of us done our own thing before joining the others for lunch. We put the world to rights, laughed and shed a few tears, and I am feeling more grounded.

I think I have lost it mentally. I have a dishwasher and a washing machine. The brain wasn't working, I popped a couple of mugs and cutlery in the washing machine with a full load, and I was surprised when the mugs broke!

After my 2nd knee replacement a few years ago, I was also given a trolley which acted as a Zimmer frame so I was able to carry food from the kitchen to sitting room. Very useful.

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I woke up feeling distinctly unwell this morning. After a lovely mug of tea in bed and a little cereal and yogurt for breakfast MrB swept me up and carried me off to Lytham. The wind was wild, the rain came and went and we had a glorious windswept morning. I felt so much better by the time we got home. I need fresh air! We had another walk down to the Dock gates after lunch, since when I have been lounging on cushions listening to a book. I earned it!

I drove to the garden centre this morning, then as the car hadn’t moved since before Christmas i took it for a longer drive to make sure it was properly warmed up. Driving is fine, but my back aches a lot, I think I’ll stick to short journeys for a while.
I had a look round my garden and found a few daffodils poking through the weeds, at least they haven’t all perished!
I’ll look forward to them flowering soon.
Oh dear charleygirl I hope the washing survived! So far I’ve managed to avoid putting the dishes in the washing machine, but sometimes it’s a close thing!
