Thank you as always to our treasured benefactor soop.
Hot chocolate and warm muffins await, cushions plumped and fire stoked.

Better news dragonfly I do hope that helps.
Very smart Blossoming you are good, braving the elements.
I’m so sorry to hear that Yia you have a lot going on x

Grannmarie Fri 28-Nov-25 20:09:30

Thank you, Blossoming, great to hear from you, love 😍 your photo, especially your wellies! Fingers crossed 🤞 for good results.

Good news, Dragonfly, that's a step in the right direction.

Thank you, UsedToBeBlonde, I hope you're feeling a bit better very soon.

Thank you, YiaYia, I'm feeling much better now, very thankful. I'm so sorry to read that things are hard for you and yours just now, thinking of you, sending love and prayers for peace of mind and for the strength to cope with these challenges. 💕🙏🕯

I was supposed to be going to a charity quiz night with my sisters, I do enjoy a quiz, but I just didn't feel up to it. I'm happy to relax at home. TV 📺 will do!! Wishing everyone a peaceful Friday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.

Lovely to ‘see’ you Blossoming, looking good.
Better news from you, Dragonfly, long may it continue.
YIAYIA, Grannmarie and Utbb. 💐for you.

Charleygirl5 Fri 28-Nov-25 22:18:05

Grannmarie that was a fright and a half and I am not surprised you feel emotional about it. You were so lucky to have woken up.

Blossoming Yia, Dragonfly I do hope there is better news around the corner.

Luckily I do online banking because I noticed money had been withdrawn from my account to pay for foreign currency exchange. It's under £2 but it is the principle. It has been around 18 years since I was on a plane.

cornergran Fri 28-Nov-25 23:04:02

You had a lucky escape granmarie. I’m relieved you’re feeling better. Reading your experience sent me off to check our carbon monoxide alarm, it’s working, phew.

That’s not good charley. Thankfully you spotted it , your bank will deal with the charge and block linked transactions I’m sure.

That’s a little more positive dragonfly, I’m pleased. Go gently yia and everyone carrying a weight.

Off to bed now. Night night everyone, sleep tight.

Grannmarie Fri 28-Nov-25 23:48:49

Thank you, GrandmaC47, Charleygirl and Cornergran. NNGB

Usedtobeblonde Sat 29-Nov-25 02:43:30

Charleygirl you were lucky to have spotted the small charge taken from your bank.
That is the way fraudsters work, take something like £1:99 and when it goes unchallenged they then go for a much larger amount.
We must all stay aware.

brook2704 Sat 29-Nov-25 07:37:40

Good advice uttb and so good you noticed it Charleygirl
Apologies all I’m behind with the kitchen news but so relieved to hear grannmarie is ok, what an awful experience and such a fright too
Lovely picture Blossoming ready for the weather 👍
We’re at DD1s in Cambridge just now but will try to catch up later
Take care all, special thoughts with our dearest Soop 💐

Grandmabatty Sat 29-Nov-25 08:27:54

Well spotted Charley girl. It's a common ruse to take a small amount then clear out the account if unchallenged.
I once did it with an amount for two pounds which went to a bank in Singapore. The bank were able to reassure me that it was Next and was absolutely genuine but they praised me for being alert.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 29-Nov-25 18:09:39

I am hiding from three GC (8, 6 & 5) with a sneaky little white wine.

I have given in and they have their iPads playing Roblox. The 6 & 8 yr olds are here till late tomorrow night. The 5 yr old (The Imp will be collected around 9ish)

DH is cooking dinner for us, the small people have been fed.

I hope you all have a peaceful evening 🙋‍♀️

Charleygirl5 Sat 29-Nov-25 22:42:35

Thank you all for your concern. I was in touch with the Santander fraud team, easier than visiting the bank, and all is now sorted. I check my online bank account daily.

So much has been replaced recently, I have now paid everybody, so I will retire to bed until Spring, I think.

Good evening dear Kitchen folk. It’s been a beautiful, if chilly, day here. We have enjoyed our usual morning and afternoon walks and have enjoyed watching the Santa train full of excited children. Penne carbonara for dinner later, I find penne easier to deal with than spaghetti! TOYA as always ♥️

Jaxjacky Sun 30-Nov-25 18:11:48

Smashing picture Blossoming it’s been similar weather here, rain coming in later, I did get out for a rather brisk, short walk.
MrJ watched our grandson play football, his team were the winners are 10-1, he was a happy lad.
Chicken in the oven, 🤒 I’ll prep some veg in a minute, enjoy your evening all, particularly those absent and others in the quiet corner.

GrandmaC47 Sun 30-Nov-25 18:40:03

Great picture Blossoming. A dry day in Lancashire for a change 😀
Thinking of the Soops and the Fgt’s and others with mountains to climb.

Nannytopsy Sun 30-Nov-25 18:40:23

A chilly evening in Suffolk - 3C about an hour ago. We had a very productive couple of hours in the garden this morning, cutting back and then mulching the tender plants. I have a speed course at 9 am tomorrow. They are very insistent that one must be there early to get a parking space and stress you will be refused entry if late. How to build stress!
Just paid a flying visit to DS and DGC with advent calendars and belated birthday present for DGS from his aunt.
Thinking of you all xx

cornergran Sun 30-Nov-25 19:16:30

Christmas has been installed here. Mostly pre lit items. Really enjoy the reflections in the conservatory. Yes, I know it’s early. We thought the lights and reflections would cheer me as indeed they have. Family issues have ramped up again, it’s a port to make me smile in the current storm.

Our forecast was for bright sunshine all day. Mr C ventured out in a fleece this morning, we discovered it isn’t waterproof Oops grin. Funny old day. Not a cloud in the sky until one arrived and down came the rain. Fifteen minutes later a blue sky again.

We’re in a yellow weather warning for rain until Wednesday. Tomorrow at least will be an indoor day, plenty to do.

Thank you for the photo blossoming We both love steam trains.

Wishing you all a peaceful evening and a restful night. TOYA

Just popping out from the quiet corner to 👋 and say good evening to you all. Things are ‘smooth enough’ here lately and we do things at our own pace these days, depending on how Himself is faring. ‘Day by Day’ is a good mantra to repeat. It calms me.

I can’t believe it’s 1st December tomorrow. 🤷‍♀️

I read every day just not posting as often for the foreseeable. My best wishes are with you all this evening. x

brook2704 Sun 30-Nov-25 21:46:30

Lovely photo Blossoming thank you
We’ve had a really lovely day here at DD1s, birthday celebrations continued but also we made a start on the Christmas decorations. We went to the local garden centre this morning and bought a new additional for the Christmas village display that youngest DGS loves. We finished the day off with a yummy roast dinner - 8 of us in total but no problem for DD1 who takes everything in her stride
Tomorrow we head home to Inverness, a bit of sightseeing time in London first although I think it’s going to be very wet ☔️

Redcar Sun 30-Nov-25 23:00:15

blossoming that’s a lovely photo, so pleased you’re out and about again.
fgt day by day is a good mantra, I hope life continues smoothly for you and Himself.
A chilly but sunny day here, had a walk this morning then pottered indoors for a while. It’s the littlest Dgd’s birthday tomorrow, she’ll be three and DD2 had a family party for her this afternoon. She seemed a bit bemused by it all, but enjoyed the icing from her birthday cake.
Even though it was just family, there was a lot of noise and I’m tired now.
I had my usual catch up with my friend in Kent, fortunately she was a bit happier this week but obviously hadn’t spoken to anyone today - I could hardly get a word in! Hopefully I’ll go to sleep fairly quickly, but I often take ages to wind down after our chats.
Night night everyone, sleep well.

cornergran Mon 01-Dec-25 01:25:23

Good to see you fgt. Day by day is the way to be. Sleep well to you both.

GrannySomerset Mon 01-Dec-25 09:44:04

I think of you every day, FGT, and am glad you are able to enjoy a period of relative calm. Taking each day as it comes is wise but not necessarily easy; the little things make a surprising difference, don’t they?

Usedtobeblonde Mon 01-Dec-25 10:49:07

Good morning all.
I am having a little rest after talking to my friend who is so deaf that it is hard work.
She had a cold last week so I didn't see her and just rang to see how she is.
She really cannot help being deaf I know, but it is such an effort to get through a conversation.
She obviously doesn’t catch half of what I say and then talks over me.
I must curb my uncharitable thoughts , it is unkind.

I have a slow cooker full of stew, I made one last week but it turned out so nice that I froze it to serve as a decent meal over the weekend for all the family.
This one is just for me, to be served tonight with dumplings and then frozen in one sized portions for when I don’t want to cook which actually is most of the time now.
I have been cooking regularly now for 70 years and I think that is enough.

It is a horrible day here as I think it is everywhere else so I hope you can make the best of it.

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Dec-25 10:52:18

Morning utbb it’s a stew kind of day, day 1 of my advent calendar, however…..

Usedtobeblonde Mon 01-Dec-25 11:43:30

That looks so comforting Jax
I realise I haven’t reported that after 5 and a bit long weeks my nose is finally “better”.
It is still pink but smooth and clear from scabs and peeling skin.
My nose is not my smallest feature and looked so prominent when it was being treated.
I felt very conscious of it and quite down but as promised it will be fine for the Christmas outings and best of all clear of potential nasties.

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Dec-25 18:02:43

Hi all, that is good news utbb you can gallivant without a care 🙂.
It’s been very wet, windy and dull today, I felt sorry for children walking to school in it, then back. I didn’t go out, got our bedding dry, MrJ has just made the bed, the voluntary phone wasn’t too busy, quiz tonight, my daughter will be absent, work ‘do’, axe throwing!!
Oven f&c for dinner, enjoy yours.
