Good morning from a dry but breezy Torbay.

I did not intend to mislead you lovely folk on here who take such an interest in my DGD's ballet dancing but I think I need to give a clear explanation of how performances with the English Youth Ballet work. This link explains better than I could:-

www.englishyouthballet.co.uk/auditions.html#:~:text=There%20are%20three%20Junior%20and,preceded%20by%20a%20ballet%20class.

In other words, for the third time in recent years, she has successfully auditioned to take part in two performances of Coppélia next March. This entails attendance at several rehearsals in the run-up to the shows. She has been awarded a scholarship so her parents will not have to pay the fees this time.

I hope today sees improvement in whatever is worrying you. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from a damp Bristol. It has rained in the night.
It was quite odd to have the church service in the hall, but it worked well and we were warm! I didn’t stay for coffee as I have found that oddly, on the whole, people weren’t as friendly as during the week.
I got the date wrong for the concert in the afternoon, but there still is one in .st. George’s hall by DGD this evening. I’ll take a bus there and back, meeting the family at the venue.
I made an oven glove for Iris’ “Advent calendar”, to go with the baking stuff I have put in it. I’ve never made one before and quilted the lining, but did make at lot of mistakes before the successful finale.
Apart from the concert this evening, there is Tesco, and the monthly OAP film in the afternoon. Not sure I’ll go to that.
May this week bring only good news and gentleness.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦤🦩🦩🦩

Still dark in Lancashire but at least the rain has stopped, temporarily. Hoping to head into town this morning, as much for the exercise as anything. There are times when I go shopping and come back with an empty bag because I just couldn't find what I wanted!

Grandmabatty Mon 24-Nov-25 05:36:24

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and raining. Ashcombe your dgd has still done well.
Yesterday I pottered about the house, finished the housework and washing, did an ironing and generally faffed about. Last night was a rotten night with pain in my feet. I haven't had such a bad night for a while. Even painkillers didn't help much. Today is early childcare day. So up to dds house for half six, then sort out the boys and drop them off. I'll do a quick half hour in the school library then home for a nap before picking up the boys again. Dsils new job came to naught because of the closing of Mossmorran in Fife. So he'll pick up dgs1 for football and dd will pick up dgs2 later. And by then, no doubt, I'll be ready for bed! Have a good day all.

Morning Mick, morning All from a wet and windy corner of Somerset.

A disturbed night for me involving a cuppa at about 4am and several chapters of a new book. I’d hoped to drift off to sleep again, better luck next time.

Christmas gifts all wrapped yesterday there was one tick on a very long list. I’m not sure what today will bring, we’d hoped to venture forth, see how the weather goes.

You’re a busy soul grandmab, I envy your stamina.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Bellasnana Mon 24-Nov-25 06:00:26

Good morning from Malta where it is dry, windy and a high of 18°C is forecast.

I sorted out the living room yesterday which took a lot longer than I’d anticipated. After cleaning and moving the boys toys to a better space, I unrolled my rug, which had been returned from the cleaners some time ago, only to find it smells terrible! I think they must have rolled it up while it was still damp.

I had such bad backache after all the lifting and faffing that I didn’t make it to Mass unfortunately but I couldn’t have sat on a hard chair for an hour in such pain.

Had a FaceTime chat with my friend in Leicester which was nice, then didn’t do much the rest of the day as it rained and was extremely windy.

I’ve ironing to do this morning then I must go out as I need milk and veg, plus some sort of deodoriser for the smelly rug! I sprinkled baking soda on it last night but am not sure if it has helped!

So sorry you had such an awful night Grandmabatty. I hope you manage to get a rest during your busy day.

Lovely oven glove grandMattie, you are so creative.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Grandmabatty Mon 24-Nov-25 06:03:37

bellasnana I hope your back eases off. And your carpet is fixable. Corner I don't think I have stamina when I read about others! My sympathy for the lack of sleep

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire. I think it’s another damp day.

We enjoyed being with the children at DD’s yesterday and listening to their chat, it’s such a pleasure to watch them grow up.

Today we’re having lunch with DH’s siblings. I’ve been very organised and have written cards for them as well as all their families, which will save a small fortune in postage.

Grandmabatty, sorry to hear you’re having so much pain, that sounds rough.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

glammagran Mon 24-Nov-25 06:09:50

Good morning to you all. I didn’t get to sleep till 1am and been awake since. 4:30. I will feel rubbish today.

We went for tea and biscuits at DD2’s on Saturday. The kids were not on their best behaviour unfortunately. It’s very wearing. School pickup later.

The family clubbed together and bought us theatre tickets and hotel stay in Cheltenham for my 70th in September and finally we have chosen what we wanted to see. We are going in early February. Though it didn’t have to be Cheltenham.

GM St George’s in Bristol is really lovely venue with great acoustics. We saw the Epsen Eriksen trio there in 2023. They are a Swedish classical jazz outfit.

Well done to your GD on her ballet accomplishments Ashcombe.

Have good day everyone.

RosesandLilac Mon 24-Nov-25 06:10:15

Good morning from a wet hillside in south Glos 🙄, serves me right for telling someone that I preferred rain to the bitter cold.
The road to the village will be closed all day from 8 to 6pm, so chaos as everyone has to drive a 8 mile loop to get there from the other side. No buses either for those who rely on them.
Tomorrow we’ll be without electricity from 8 to 6pm, fun isn’t it living in the countryside where it seems that services can be cut without explanation?!
Luckily we have the wood burner, camping stove and plenty of flashlights as it’ll be dark long before it comes back on.
I’ll fill the flasks with hot water, I plan to have soup and cooked sausages to make hot dogs so we won’t starve! I will need to get up early to sort all that out.
DH is moaning that there won’t be any television or WiFi, I’ve told him to download some audiobooks or find a proper book - goodness knows I have enough!
I’m planning to sit and knit or crochet, it won’t bother me too much as we’ve often had no power during storms here.
Then I hope that the rest of the week is uneventful 🌹

Aldom Mon 24-Nov-25 06:15:07

Good morning Mick and everyone.
I've been awake for hours and up since 5am.
Sunday was a lovely day. I walked into town and popped in to Marks and Spencer. I bought a new jumper and a bottle of wine to give to my family. On then to spend the afternoon at my family's home. We had a delicious roast, early evening dinner. My son in law drove me home around 7.30pm.
This morning I'm back in town for the NWR monthly coffee morning.
Wishing you all the best day possible.

grandMattie Mon 24-Nov-25 06:22:28

I’m sorry about your back, bellas. Would it be possible to put your smelly rug out in the sun and wind? That should help.

Georgesgran Mon 24-Nov-25 06:30:24

Good Motning from a dark, wet and windy Durham. Rain is forecast every day this week.
Leg pain woke me up, but my new fleece bedding is lovely and warm. I’m meeting my friend for coffee this morning, then I’ll nip to MetroCentre for some currency, as DD1 is off to a Christmas market later in the week. I need to work out my Christmas list and see what’s left to get.
Worrying news from FGT last night. 💐

Best wishes to all. X

Grammaretto Mon 24-Nov-25 06:31:48

Good morning Mick and all from the Scottish Borders. It was cold last night.
I had a wakeful night and may make a cuppa and try for another hour 💤 😴

Exercise class followed by minding the Christmas Market at our community store. I'll probably be tempted to buy things. I'll sit in the corner and knit.

This afternoon I shall pack for my train to Derby tomorrow. I also have to make up beds as my friend from the north will stay in my house while I'm away. She needs to be here to see her family.

I hope everyone has a really good day especially those with worries.

karmalady Mon 24-Nov-25 06:47:23

Good morning from s somerset, it is raining and will continue to rain

Last night I took out my frozen kefir grains, they sleep in a bed of powdered milk when I need a summer break. I will need to go out for some organic fc milk later, the grains thrive on that. They just need a bit of tlc for a couple of days and then they spring back into life

It was a busy day yesterday, I did a lot of chopping and made a big pan of minestrone without pasta and a cake with lots of ground almonds and 3 eggs, high in protein

More chopping today, it is immunity juice season and I will be making carrot/celery/lemon/ ginger juice shots today, enough for three days. Later I will plan and delve into the freezer for meats, I want to be making a large tasty casserole later this week, for ready meals.

All the socks for gifting are now knitted and a few pairs are drying flat, I don`t normally bother to block these but I like them to look polished as they are presents

Ocado comes in about an hour, I need to be ready

Have a good day

Good morning from a dark S E Essex

Today is going to be rather busy and chaotic.

8am the decorator is here to start the last of the gloss painting of doors and skirting boards. The man will be here at 11.30am the man is here to clean the range. I am waiting for a delivery of furniture between 8am - 8pm.

To to- it off it’s a non-pupil day so I have the 10yr old and The Imp here - happy days 🙀

Hope your back improves Bellasnana

Love the oven mitt, my DD would be over the moon to,find one of those in her stocking (loves cooking and has had horses/ponies since she was 10yr old, still rides)

Greyduster Mon 24-Nov-25 07:08:50

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark but dry in South Yorkshire at the moment. Slept reasonably well last night - just one brief excursion and then straight back to sleep. Unusual for me.
A quiet day yesterday. Ham hock soup made and just needs the meat stripping off the bone today and portioning up. I had a conversation on the phone with an old friend who had some bad news about his health. It felled me. I thought he was indestructible.
I have to haul myself off to the hospital this morning for an X-ray on my hip. It’s a walk in service. I shall go on the bus - it’s a bit of a drag but it is more or less door to door. If time allows on the way back I shall stop off in town to visit a couple of shops but it will be weather dependent. I might just decide to stay on the bus.
Have the best day you can folks.

Kalu Mon 24-Nov-25 07:15:10

Good morning all. A dry 4deg. day with a mix of sun and cloud. I’m just happy it will be dry. Time to spend in the garden.

I empathise with all living with pain. My own atm is constant making it difficult to stay upbeat and positive robbing me of my can do, get on with it normal attitude. This all started after DH died. I only hope, in time, it all bxggxxs off! GB and Bella I hope your day improves.
Moan over, admin to attend to then fill the rest of my day with whatever takes my fancy.

Upsetting news from FGT. Himself is back in hospital due to a spike in temperature. IV antibiotics administered which will hopefully result in normal readings and he can return home asap 🤞

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Monday.

kittylester Mon 24-Nov-25 07:22:29

Good morning allvfrom a, currently, dry North Leicestershire.

DH is going to tge gym and then Christmas shopping and I have a physio appointment this afternoon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning Mick and everyone from damp Carlisle. It has rained during the night.
Yesterday, the heavy rain cleared by mid-morning but I postponed my walk until after lunch. I spent the morning with the papers and the computer. It was surprisingly cold out when I went for my walk. There was a lot of water lying on the ground, the Pond and drainage channels almost overflowing..
Back for a hot drink and more papers, puzzles and computer.
A rare long chat with my brother in the evening, he's not a great talker, that's just his way.

Today, bed changing, laundry and vacuuming in the morning . In the afternoon, a walk? Otherwise, there are things to do on the computer plus I want to go over my finances ahead of the budget.
Have a good day, people, and thoughts to those of you with worries.

BlueSapphire Mon 24-Nov-25 07:23:51

Good morning everyone from yet another damp day in Northampton. Yesterday was beautiful, nice and sunny🌞, although chilly.

Our dance day went very well, so well that we seem to be outgrowing our hired hall! Never seen so many participants in the event before. Everyone danced with a smile, it was such a joyous friendly occasion! Afterwards we had our usual quiz, accompanied by cake and chocolates, which my team won again, I am pleased to say!

Yoga this morning and then I have no real plans for the rest of the day.
Time to go back and read today's thread.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

brook2704 Mon 24-Nov-25 07:27:34

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark and looks wet
Well done with all the knitted socks Karma, what beautiful presents for some lucky people
I’ve a quick volunteering session this morning and then I’m going into town to do some shopping. I’m hoping to get a couple of new tops for some lunches out in December and a couple of Christmas presents
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Kalu Mon 24-Nov-25 07:29:10

Enjoy your ham broth Greyduster. Just what’s needed at this time of year. I am still making enough to feed an army but DD1 and her girls helped to clear the lot I made recently, Using up some of the meat for a ham and cheese omelette….three meals. I will be making Cock-a -Leekie today. No need to think up meals for another two days. 😄

Redcar Mon 24-Nov-25 07:34:10

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. I thought it was going to be dry today, but I can hear rain on the windows,, I hope it will be dry later. I need to go for a walk today, haven’t been out for a few days.
It took me ages to go to sleep last night, I was unsettled due to an unexpected Amazon delivery at 9.30 pm. I wondered if I should be opening the door at that time in the evening! It was a parcel containing Christmas presents for my granddaughters sent by my niece in Australia!
I’ll be wrapping presents today, once I’ve made space on the dining room table. I was also concerned at fgt’s news last night and hope that her DH is a little better today.
Thinking of all those in difficulties and hope those mountains are easier to climb today.
Have the best day possible everyone.
