Good morning from a dry Bristol, although it rained in the evening.
A small filling to a front tooth will be done in a fortnight, ouch says my purse, seat this time of year!
I had a quiet afternoon after Taichi earlier, made an onion soup, but generally just sat.
Today, I’ve got Spanish, then another quiet afternoon.
I need to raid hedges to get some evergreens to make little Advent arrangements with candle for two of my neighbours. I have a few bits already but need more. I always make one for myself.
May everyone have a good start to the first weekend of Advent.

Good morning, it’s decidedly damp here on the hillside in south Glos. I actually prefer it to the bitter cold 🫢
I went through my food cupboards yesterday, only had to throw out a couple of tins that were way out of date so happy with that. I do have more than enough to keep me going and at least I now know exactly what I do have so all good.
I will do the cupboard with baking tins and utensils etc today, I can probably give away some bits because I very rarely bake nowadays.
I have art group this morning, I need to find something to take. I haven’t done any art for a week or two.
I need to sort out the bird feeders today too and probably order more supplies and set up the frost protection in my Shed. Housework will have to wait until tomorrow!
Sending good wishes to you all 🌹

Roses, it’s always a good idea to do housework “tomorrow “! 😂

Good morning Mick and everyone.
I've been awake since 4am and downstairs since 5am.
Yesterday evening I opened a window in the utility room while the airfrier was in use. Big mistake! I couldn't close the window. It has six security bolts which come out by turning the key. The bolts had some how got themselves into the locked position.
I tried to get a local locksmith, but none available. My home emergency insurance also tried but no one available till sometime this morning.
Hope it's fixed before 2pm as I'm going to my family then as it's my grandson's birthday.
Thinking of everyone with sadness, worry or illness to cope with. flowers

Good morning Mick, and GN's from a very dark and still North Yorkshire morning. Another rubbish night so am now up very early as there seemed little point in being wide awake in bed.

I am going to see a friend who has been ill this morning, but before that I have to find elusive things that have been searching for since yesterday. Cant find the instruction book for the yellow peril, which is very annoying, as I need that before I can find out what I am going to need re batteries etc. At the worse I will have to take the cover off and write down numbers etc on the thing itself and then use those to go on line and find it that way. Then I also want the maintenance book for the car. Wonder if the borrowers are getting more ambitious? Disappearing sox and hankies is one thing but missing books are another!

Yesterday was a struggle to move about, and I really missed having the buggy, as it took me quite a while to find somewhere to park , to go to the meeting. I didnt get there until gone 11am, and was in a lot of pain, but wanted to show my face. By the time I arrived the wreath making was in full swing. (perhaps my age but I wish we called them something else - perhaps garlands might work, as I automatically thing of funerals when they say wreath!) One member had brought in some lovely extra berries and greenery. She must have raided all her garden and the berries were a lovely red and plenty of them. I managed to find a chair I could sit in reasonably comfortably, and enjoyed a coffee and watching the different works of art being made, with occasional comments or suggestions and they were all very good. I told one lady she could start a new business , as it was very lovely and looked very professional. Well done them. Maggie took photos of all the wreaths to post to those who had not been able to come to the meeting, and then I suggested that the wreathmakers should all sit in a group and hold their wreaths like halo s over their heads but slightly tilted to show them off , so that they could be our angels for the day. They thought that was a good idea and we had some fun getting them all set up and a picture taken. I didnt stay too long, but it had been good to see everyone and forget stuff for a while. Then I came home and very slowly did various bits of housework and put the washing out on clothes horse outside for a bit. I couldnt manage to get down to the washing line, and besides it kept looking like rain , but rather frustrating. Anyway hopefully it will smell better if nothing else.

The cleaners were quite late and as I had taken the bedding off to wash, as I usually do now and then they turn the mattress over and remake the bed with fresh stuff, I was getting a bit anxious, as especially yesterday could see me having to just have the duvet and pillows with no covers etc as was not in a fit state to attempt it myself, which was also rather miserable to think of as I used to do that job without thinking about it. Then they rang to say they were running late, because one of their clients had fallen in her bedroom and they found her there and had to ring the ambulance and stayed with her until one came etc. How lucky for the lady it was their day to visit her. We all know such things can happen, but nevertheless it is a bit of a shock for everyone. So when they arrived I suggested that they should first have a coffee and so we made that and I added some Baileys to the mugs , which went down well and then they got down to sorting out the kitchen and bedroom and gave the place a good hoovering, which I was glad about, as I hadnt been able to do any myself, after the last few days creaking about.

So I had some fish pie for dinner and spent time trying to find these bits and pieces , to no avail and gave up and went to bed, promising myself to get up early and sort it, and so here I am doing just that, but so far no luck. Well on my way out I shall be able to get my D@S paper from a local papershop, because it is specific to this area and cant get it up in co durham, or the yorkshire post. Think it is going to be cold but dry for the start of the day so fingers crossed I have a decent journey. If I get my finger out, tomorrow there is going to be a Repair cafe at a local place, and I really like these on many levels. They are set up with the idea of saving landfill etc., and not wasting money, but with people who know what they are doing running it. Often there will be a retired electrician or carpenter or computer buff and usually someone who can do small repairs or alter hems on clothes etc. You take your item and when it is your turn take it to the expert , who will usually be able to tell you if it really is broken and you cant mend it , or is able to mend it then and there, or give you advice on what you need to get etc.Definitely a win win situation. They look at the item and give you a good estimate for the price and then if you agree off they go and sort it. You can get coffee while you wait and chat to other people and often get good ideas from them and recommendations for people who have done a good job for them in the past, and we can all feel a little better for taking the trouble to sort it and not let it go to landfill (never mind the shock when you see how the price has shot up for a new whatever!)

Well good to know you have gained a little weight Mick, that sounds better and hope you enjoy your trip today. Hoping all GN's also have a good day with something achieved , whether that be a walk in the park or something mended.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark here in South Yorkshire but looks dry out. There will be rain later though. I was woken at twenty past four this morning by a loud ping as if a message had come through on my phone. There wasn’t one. This is starting to happen quite often and I can’t explain it. Neither can I get back to sleep!

A decent walk round the woods yesterday and then just as we arrived back at base, it started to rain. Lunch with DD and then back home for a haircut.

School this afternoon and fingers crossed it will be less chaotic than it was on Tuesday.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from a damp Malta where it has rained overnight. The forecast is for a wet, windy day with a high of 14°C.

I have a hair appointment later after which I’m picking the boys up from school as DD3 has a doctor’s appointment.

Had a lovely FaceTime with DD2 and DGD in the US where they were celebrating Thanksgiving with a houseful of SiL’s relatives. It looked as though a good time was being had by all, including two visiting bulldogs!

Wishing you all as good a day as possible. ☀️

Ashcombe Fri 28-Nov-25 06:38:24

Good morning from a damp but still Torbay.

Last night's rehearsal for It’s A Wonderful Life saw the director actually directing at last, following a heated exchange of texts on our group WhatsApp earlier in the day. I’ve learnt all (six of!) my lines but struggle when the cue line isn’t forthcoming. Starting on Monday, we have one full week of rehearsals before we open….

My DD1’s FiL died earlier this week in London. She and my DGS1 had hoped to visit him in hospital but couldn’t leave Australia where they live until next Monday because of DGS1’s exams. My SiL has been over here for a few weeks as it was known that his father was terminally ill. All very sad but at least the memories DGS1 will have will be of Grandad when he was well. I am looking forward to seeing them next week when they arrive in England.

Have as good a day as possible, everyone! 🦩👏🦩💐🦩

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry. GrandMattie that's a lovely idea for advent. Madeleine I hope you find your instructions. Grammaretto I hope you are enjoying time with your family and are sleeping a bit better.
Yesterday passed quietly. I sorted out the kitchen and made a slow cooker pot of mince with lots of vegetables. I hoovered throughout too and began to tidy the boys' room and the dining room. In the afternoon I watched some excessively sentimental Christmas films which bear no resemblance to real life, but entertaining nonetheless. I had messages from a couple of friends arranging to catch up which is always cheering.
Today I'm having the boys for an hour. Dd always says "an hour" but the reality is much longer! She's getting her nails done and doing some Christmas shopping and had forgotten today was a staff development day at school. So there's little point in me continuing to tidy the boys' room! Dgs2 got his stookie removed yesterday and was a wee celebrity. Lots of staff came to see him. Dgs1 had his first tooth come out and dd only had a ten pound note! So a very generous tooth fairy. I told her she should put it on account for the next five teeth.
After the boys go, I have a Tesco delivery due and that'll be my day done. Mince and tatties for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning from s somerset, rain today

Aldom lubrication spray, silicone if you have it, the lock and as many bolt areas as you can. These things need lubricating every year

Allotment for me yesterday, have not been for a few weeks and it is now winter-ready, I brought some cabbage and leeks home and have leaves there for all through winter. 3 hours of working, I enjoyed it

One photo is of the cute rag doll that I am going to make over winter, I have started collecting bits and bobs in a basket

Today I am making a granola with a butternut squash and will complete the pattern filing

Have a good day

Grandmabatty Fri 28-Nov-25 06:42:48

Ashcombe condolences to your dd. It's a Wonderful Life is my all time favourite Christmas film. I hope it goes well.

Good morning, I shall be up and cooking the 10yr olds breakfast soon, for his 8am school start. He realised as I was reading his bedtime story last night that he has a non-uniform day. So I shall be driving down to DD’s with a coat over my pj’s to get his clothes whilst he eats his brekkie.

I have DS4’s children from school pick up this afternoon until school drop off Monday morning (also picking up The Imp and 10yr olds, fortunately one school ends early on Friday, and they are in the same road less than 1/2mile apart)

Yesterdays birthday lunch was so much fun, and the birthday girl really enjoyed her celebration 🎉

Condolences to your DD and family Ashcombe

Good morning Mick and everyone from a damp-looking Carlisle where it was windy during the night and will likely continue to be so today. I hate wind.

Yesterday, I was busy getting rid of various little jobs that had been hanging around for a while and also did the ironing. What a gloomy day it was with frequent, heavy little showers. No gardening or walks desired plus I forgot my indoor exercises. I will have to rectify that today. I didn't help myself by baking bread and scones. I simply cannot resist stuffing myself with freshly baked homemade bread.

I will be off down town, I have a dental appointment, my gappy mouth should be sorted finally, I hope. Various little errands will be done including the posting of christmas cards to Australia.
And I must take a serious look at my finances post-Budget, M/s R hasn't done them any good! Need to see where I'm at.
Somewhere in all that, I hope to get some reading done too.

Have a good day all of you if possible.

Redcar Fri 28-Nov-25 07:21:55

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dark out, fairly mild and the road looks damp. I had a good day with DD1’s dog yesterday and my DSil came home early and collected the granddaughters from school. He then drove me home, which was kind of him and saved me the taxi fare (£17!).

ash i’m sorry to hear about your DD’s FiL.
grandmabatty I’m pleased that your Dgs2 has had his stookie removed now. He must be pleased to have his arm back to normal again.

madeleine I hope you find the manuals for your car and the yellow peril, and are able to sort out the problem with the yellow peril quickly.

Thinking of all those having problems at the moment and hope that life gets a little easier for you.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry corner of Somerset. Rain due by lunch time.

A new to us dentist was very gentle yesterday, we both needed a small filling which was accomplished there and then. Much better than me fretting about returning. One success, BT worked some magic with our new hub and the security camera works again. Not so successful was my attempt at getting our big computer to behave, we packed its bag and left it with the computer magician. Although the iPad does all I need, I do much prefer the large Mac screen.

After depositing the Mac we continued via lunch to the shopping mall, it was relatively peaceful and a wander was enjoyable.

Volunteering this morning. Royal Mail should collect a parcel by 3 when there could be a trip for weekend food bits, otherwise a quiet afternoon at home.

Sad news for your family ashcombe. My condolences to you all.

Have the best day you can everyone.

kittylester Fri 28-Nov-25 07:25:01

Good morning all from a still dark North Leicestershire where it doesn't appear to be raining and is warmish.

I have my usual Friday morning ahead - egg farm, pet shop, butcher's and Waitrose and then some online shopping this afternoon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Georgesgran Fri 28-Nov-25 07:29:30

Good Motnimg from Durham, not surprised that it’s raining again and very windy. An enjoyable day in York with DD2 yesterday, but overdid it with my leg and suffered later. I couldn’t get warm or comfortable at home and have slept in my fleece dressing gown. There seems to be a problem with my house alarm, so I won’t be setting it, until I can get it looked at.
DD1 and SinL are off to Krakow today, so I have DGS1 for a long weekend. I’ve no idea what to do with him, because of the weather and my limited walking.

Hope Marydoll is ok.

Best wishes to all. X

glammagran Fri 28-Nov-25 07:30:49

Good morning everyone from gloomy Wiltshire.

Yesterday was DH’s 76th birthday. DD2 came round after school with the tornadoes for a couple of hours. We then had lobster tails Thermidor, asparagus and frites for dinner with a bottle of champagne.

Tomorrow DD1 and her DH are coming to stay overnight. We are going out for an Indian.

Commiserations to all who are unwell or have others who are.
Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Fri 28-Nov-25 07:36:21

Glammagran a belated happy birthday to your dh. Dinner sounds lovely.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 28-Nov-25 07:38:17

A quick morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I had curry for dinner - probably not a good idea after a colonoscopy!

We are off to listen to an Arts Society lecture later. Because of the difficulties parking in our nearby small town, we will leave early and breakfast in a cafe somewhere. After the lecture I have booked lunch at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere!

Have a good day. I’m thinking of the FGT2S and I hope all is well with MaryD.

luluaugust Fri 28-Nov-25 07:39:22

Good morning from W Kent where we have a red sky. Off to collect DH’s new glasses, can’t believe he has got everything sorted out in less than a week.
Best wishes

ginny Fri 28-Nov-25 07:45:21

Good morning, N.Bucks forecast seems to be a bit of sun, rain and wind and around a high of 8c.
I’m going to sit down a write a comprehensive ‘to do’ list. We have quite a a lot going on in the next few weeks and I find it helps and seeing things ticked off is motivating.
Hopefully I will be able to ignore the constant pain in my shoulders and intermittently various other parts of me. I had blood tests yesterday so maybe they will give some clues.
Thoughts with all who are troubled or poorly and a good day wished for all.

Gingster Fri 28-Nov-25 07:47:00

Good morning all.

Yesterday was good as DIL came round and helped me with paperwork for the solicitor. Reams of questions to be answered. She is a diamond! Calm, clever and conscientious.

We are selling our beloved cottage by the sea. 😢.

Today I’ll pop along to the solicitors with said forms.

We’re having Christmas lunch with our Friday pals today so that will be a chatty, merry time with people wev e known for many years (70 in some cases). They all used to come to the cottage pre/post Christmas for a few days, so we’ll raise a glass to very happy memories.

I hope you find your instruction books Madeleine. It’s so annoying isn’t it! You know they’re there somewhere…. But…..where.

Good/better times wished for all.

baubles Fri 28-Nov-25 07:48:03

Good morning from very wet South Lanarkshire. There were several loud thunderclaps earlier.

The children were on good form again yesterday which was lovely. The eldest has taken an interest in sewing and has designed a dress which she wants to make so her Mum has promised a visit to a fabric shop at the weekend. I spent a while threading up the sewing machine which DDoutLaw’s mother left with them on her last visit. It’s an age since I’ve had my own sewing machine out so I was a bit rusty.

Out to friends this evening for a catch up.

Wishing everyone a good day.
