Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark, but still morning , Havent looked out but very cold and hoping for a bit drier day today,
Yesterday was a pig of a day, where I seemed to have obstacles put in my way whatever I did, and despite saying White Rabbits, I did not have a good start to the day. Had a poor nights sleep and had been worrying about a friend who had phoned and told me they had had a fall . Trying to decide whether it would be better for me to go and see what I could do, or let them rest and go when they asked etc. Anyway a poor night and consequently it took me ages to get my act together. I had wanted to be out and about early but no such luck. Really missing my buggy, which would have been much quicker to go down the town on. So stuck in traffic, an idiot had abandoned rather than park their car so that it actually stuck out into the road and blocked part of the road near a traffic light, causing much hassle to the rest of us.
2 blue light ambulance had to get through and the total hassle was very bad. But after much messing about I did what I needed to do and set off to see my friend. Of course it was more haste less speed, and even when I was getting well on the way and had calmed down a bit I then came round a corner to see a large breakdown truck and a big construction machine being very slowly loaded onto it. It was the stupidist place to load up on a slight bend and no where for anyone to go, so assume that was where it had actually broken down, and of course it took for ages. My back was very painful and I could not relax and anyway finally got there much the worse for wear. Anyway things calmed down after that, and we were able to catch up on news and see how things were. In amongst all the hassle I had checked up about my MOT and had had to organise that , but I am lucky that the garage I use are very helpful and they are going to come and pick the car up from my home. My problem is that having no buggy at the moment, I couldnt organise anything using that, and the garage is not in the middle of the town so couldnt walk from them either, so looked like having to get a taxi, and of course they wanted the car in and trying to get a taxi during school times is always difficult and at this time of the year even worse. So I am grateful that they will pick the car up and save me much hassle. Fingers crossed that it passes ok. I keep getting check tyre pressure coming up, but have checked all the tyres and there is no problem with them. It might be because of things like the sleeping policemen that triggers a message but very annoying. Of course these days you can no longer sort it yourself as it is all on computer and has to be done by the garage etc!! Well anyway, just fingers crossed that there is no major problems with the car and they can check it all ok and I wil then feel I am ready for any trips I need to make over the holiday time. So I am glad to be rid of yesterday, as to cap it all I had to reach down to a plug and pulled my back so have had to be very careful moving aboutand much oohing and aahing. Dont know why I do it, no one to hear me but its just involuntary I think.
I dont plan to do a great deal today, well will avoid going into town if possible, as am stuck with the car now and with my back the way it is, no chance of walking far to shops. I have done a bit more sorting of paperwork = mostly whilst trying to find my MOT certificate which was in vain, but of course as the garage had done it last year they had the information to hand, - should have thought about that earlier and saved myself a load of hassle! When I couldnt sleep I have at least been through the calendar for december and as far as I can see , have loaded up all the various events from doctors appointments to carol singing in a village, so it looks quite a full month. Shant get to all of them of course, but at least all the information is there and hopefully I wont miss something that matters to me. My star occasion is on the 13th december in Saltburn as they have this lovely Ice sculpture trail, which was very enjoyable on previous years so that is going to be top of my list, and fingers crossed that I am in a fit state to go to it. So today it will be plod along, see what I can manage, and I might even get round to doing some ironing as the basket is already beginning to fill up.
Mick , As a diabetic too, your comments ring true to me! I use canderel which I find is ok for putting on boring weetabix, trying to have a minimum amount of milk. I have never liked honey, always found it too sweet , but am tempted by things like crisps and try to keep my biscuit consumption down by not having any at home, but allowing myself to have a biscuit with my coffee at things like the whist drive (what wild abandon my wednesdays are , playing cards and eating either a ginger or shortbread biscuit!) but I am also with you about the resolve to drink more water. I do try to drink enough , but sometimes I realize I havent had much to drink outside meal times. Also I was tending not to drink much in the evening, trying not to have to get out of bed in the night for the loo, but now need to accept that thatis likely to happen whateveer I do, so I need to build in a drink of water into the pattern of the day to ensure I take enough. Glad that you are otherwise fine and hope you enjoy your day. GrandMattie What a lovely thing to hear about your SiL;s new job. It will make your christmas even happier with the hopes that this leads on to a new year of better prospects and more financial stability . That should mean that everyone can relax and enjoy the holiday , with that better prospect in sight. Hope your DS takes on the lesson learnt from the colleague and starts to build a better pattern of keeping in touch. I am so glad for you to have good news going into christmas. You do so much for your family and church , and the church really does not acknowledge the treasure they have in you, so I think their new year resolution should be , not to take for granted all the volunteers who do so much , not just for the big occasion but constantly throughout the year. I only wish I lived a bit nearer and could come and try out some of your delicious things you bake. It has been cheering to read both of your posts this early morning, and now time to get the kettle on and ready for my mornings sweetener of Bach before 7. I will come back later to read more posts but wish everyone a good day today and take care of yourselves
