Light hearted - What would you have done?

Recently, I attended a social afternoon for the 'retired' of our local church community. It was an afternoon tea with a floral arrangements demonstration by a local florist. The demonstration went on for quite some time while she created some huge arrangements with all sorts of very long and huge greenery. The exhibits were offered for the raffle and, as we had all bought tickets, it meant that we had the chance of winning one of them. They were beautiful but no way would I have had room in my tiny cottage for such a large display. In panic, as the raffle was about to be drawn, I excused myself and said I had to go home as I had left the dog alone for too long and he would be fretting. My dog is very happy to be left alone. In no way would I have wanted to offend the florist by saying I could not take it home. Have you ever had to bow out of a room or remove yourself with an excuse? (light hearted!)

Bearing in mind what we all knew about his copious consumption of alcohol

Oh Jesus I have promised
to serve thee to the end.
Be thou for ever near me
My master snd my friend.
I shall not fear the bottle……

It should have said battle

I was going by the title what would you have done and the gist of the story about winning a prize and making a non existent excuse so I was answering that missed the bit about different things happening to others
