Good morning from a bright dry Suffolk where sun is promised all day. I had a lovely time yesterday with a friend,4+ hours spent having coffee,a mooch around a charity shop and then lunch. We,of course, laughed our way through the time and both felt cheered by that.

Today DH and I plan to go to the seaside for a dog walk along the beach and coffee and cake in our favourite cafe.

I hope all goes well Jax today for your op. Thinking of others experiencing health issues or caring for loved one with them.

Good morning from what is forecast to be a sunny Wiltshire. Seems ages since we had one.

Another rather quiet and to be frank, fairly boring week with just shops, present wrapping and cards the main thing. The youngest GCs, 7 and 4 were rather better behaved on school pickup this week. They are very different to their 2 sets of cousins that’s for sure. The loudest children on the planet (unlike their parents). They are rarely told off by them. I love them dearly but it can be hard work.

Rosie’s Maw I was terribly sorry to read about your GD. How old is she? It must have been terribly traumatic and painful. I hope she recovers quickly. My middle GD did gymnastics to a high standard until she was 10. Her parents withdrew her from the club she competed for as they were “punished” for not getting routines 100% and were being constantly advised on diet etc which was ironic as she’s stick thin. She took up swimming joining her older brother and she’s now rated 5th in her county for butterfly.

Sar I can’t begin to imagine how stressful life must be for S and her family. I hope biologics give her some improvement asap.

BlueSapphire we’ve heard on WhatsApp from some passengers on SofD who have just left the Azores, that their journey to the Caribbean has been shall we say, “rough “. So glad we didn’t go. 4 weeks cruise but 2 weeks to and fro across the Atlantic. No thanks. We did one with P&O at Christmas 2017 but flew to Barbados for that.

Wishing everyone a good weekend.

Good morning all and it’s very calm and quiet outside. No rain due today. So Dh and ds1 will go to footie 🤞.

Good luck today Jax. Hope all goes well. 🙏.
Oh Marydoll, you do sound so down. Take it easy and just do what you can, when you can. 🙏.
Gm I agree with others, I’m sure you wouldn’t be a bother to your Dd .Just a quick hello and a hug to let her know you are there. 🕯️.

Yesterday was jolly in our usual pub with our pals. Son took us as he had a hospital appointment and was off work.

I had two glasses of mulled wine which was delicious and we ordered nibbles for all of us to share. Our very kind friend brought us home and fixed our door handle . We’re very grateful but don’t like to ‘put on’ our friends. We can always get cabs but they insist on giving us lifts.

Today I’ll walk the dog and get the paper. More present searching online 😬😤. This year has been tricky , wondering what to get everyone. I’m nearly there but just a couple more to find.

I’ll make more sausage rolls to freeze and I’ve already got a chicken casserole simmering in the slow cooker , for tonight’s supper.,

Take care and keep cheerful.🎄

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast. Back home after five days in Berkshire with my DD. I had a lovely time including London trips and visits my to sister and in-laws. My DGD couldn’t make it, but otherwise it was perfect. I love being in London and especially with all the Christmas lights etc.

The journey home was fine, good connections and my cat hasn’t stopped “talking” to me since my arrival, she seems delighted to see me! I’ll finish off Xmas cards today, unpack my small suitcase and generally enjoy being at home. It’s nice to go away and good to come home.
All the best jaxjacky and thoughts to all🌺
.

Good morning Mick and everyone. Jaxjacky hoping your op is totally successful and wishing you a speedy recovery.
I had a two hour chat with my friend in Oxfordshire yesterday.
I'm getting the bus into town this morning as I need to go to Marks and Spencer food hall.
Susan56 I am sorry you have been given unsettling news about your heart. Wishing the best for you.
My thoughts are with you all especially those who are finding life challenging. Have the best day possible everyone. flowers

Georgesgran Sat 13-Dec-25 08:52:32

Good Morning from Durham. It’s dry and still here today.
Yesterday was very full and I ended up going to see Wicked with DD1 and DGS1. By chance I’d had my nails painted green!
Today, I have a viewing on my rental house. The first offer I had on it was later withdrawn - it’s such a bad time of year to sell, but needs must. I’m doing the viewing at 1pm myself.
I might/might not see DD2 today, in which case, I’ll get the gift wrapping finished and sort out the freezer, if she doesn’t come over. I’m definitely seeing her and DGS2 tomorrow.

Hope your op goes to plan Jax and you’re soon up and about.
So simple to tell Marydoll to take it easy, but losing one’s independence and needing more help must be very hard to accept.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all. I awoke early after not being able to sleep again on steroids and sleep is not on the menu. nervous and excited as I go into my last week at work. I officially retire on Thursday and know they’ll make a fuss. 23 years in childcare. I’m looking forward to it but knowing I’ll miss the purpose and the children but know I’m tired now and it’s the right thing. I will concentrate on having a quiet but restful Christmas with hubby and family that pop in.

glammagran Sat 13-Dec-25 09:01:37

Very best wishes to you today Jax. I’d no idea you had a thr imminent. I’m due one too.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 13-Dec-25 09:09:04

A late good morning from me 🙋‍♀️

I hope all goes well for your THR Jaxjacky and that you have a speedy recovery 🌸

Oh dear MaryDoll you do seem to be in the wars at the moment, I feel you need to sit in your conservatory with a Turkish Drama and a nice warm drink ☕️🫖

We have a beautiful blue sky here in S E Essex, definitely a nip in the air.

Today is DS4’s 40th birthday, where on earth has the time gone 🤷‍♀️. He has a day full of surprises that he knows nothing about, thanks to his wife (who is such a treasure and gorgeous person) and close friends and family. The photo was taken when he was a couple hours old.

I will make some mince pies sometime during the day, and of course they will be sampled…

harrigran Sat 13-Dec-25 09:18:56

Good morning from a dry NE, not oo cold either.
GD is working in the charity shop this morning and then DS is taking her to her friend's house to help decorate the tree. DS will spend the afternoon with me and then collect GD and they will come back for dinner.
I have never known a teenager with such a busy social life, they have a whiteboard on the kitchen wall to keep track of events.
Looking on Instagram last night I saw a photograph of GD in the procession down the aisle in Durham cathedral, the opening of the Carol service where the school choir enter singing Once in Royal David's City. It is her wish to be the soloist for the first verse, you have to be a sixth former for that though.
Have a good weekend and best wishes to those with health issues.

madeleine45 Sat 13-Dec-25 09:19:12

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very cold but clear and quite sunny morning in North Yorkshire. It is so late that I can clearly see the tree and the garden and houses and everything else. Have been awake for hours, starting the morning with a horrible level of cramp, which was not only painful but kept on and on for ages. So then of course I was gingerly creeping about getting up with the usual aches and pains and my back was locking up too.

Well I am getting going slowly now - a tortoise rushed past me on my way to the kitchen!! I had planned to prepare the mince I bought yesterday before going out, but think it will have to wait now. The promised deluge of rain is now not expected around here until later this afternoon, so the plan is back on.

I am going to Saltburn this morning, to see their ice sculptures, which I am looking forward to. The previous years when I have been it has been a lovely social atmosphere, and loads of families enjoying the walk round the trail and along the promenade, which promises to be quite bracing today. So it will be finding out the thick jumpers and polar jackets etc, as it will be the christening of the new buggy! Of course, sitting on that I will be colder than walking about, but on todays efforts so far ,dont think walking will be a choice.

Yesterday I made quite an effort to do a fair bit in the flat, and catch up with jobs. I had my shower and washed my hair, and wasnt too creaky so the bathroom got a good clean up, and the bedroom was sorted out, returning things to their proper places and sorting out drawers, so for the moment I actually know where things are. I got the local paper and a bit of shopping , and on my way back to my car, met a man, whose wife was a great pianist , and used to play for us in Swale singers. He wanted to chat and we caught up a bit on news and views and I found out that they live in a village quite close by and wonder how I have lived here for so long and not come across him.

Tomorrow I am going to this Edwardian do at the little Wensleydale railway station , in a nearby village and they will be there. She will be playing and they will be doing carols in the ladies waiting room, all dressed in costume etc., and so the plan is that I will join them for a bit , so that should be pleasant and we will revive old carols and tunes. So they will be the pleasures of the weekend, and I shall fit the jobs round them and have the Yorkshire Post to read when I have to sit down. Hope that the rain doesnt put people off coming to the edwardian day, as I think it is one of their fund raisers of the year. Well most of us dont let rain put us off doing things. If we did we wouldnt get much done.

Hope you have a successful trip Mick, your mention of bacon struck a chord with me and for once I have had grilled bacon and tomatoes for breakfast, warming and a nice change from my boring cereal.RosesanLilac hope the zoom art class is going well for you. JaxJacky wishing you all the best, you are probably already going down or maybe it is already over by now. Hoping everything has gone well for you .Karmalady I am intrigued by the "inverter". How does it work? Do you end up lying back at an angle or do you actually go more upside down? If it helps your back to straighten out I would be interested to find out. WhiteSwan My grandson is also autistic, and it is so good to see a bit more help and understanding isnt it? it used to be so difficult if we were out and he would be upset or frightened by something, when he looked as though he should be able to cope with whatever it was, and people would be judging him and us. Now I have found that places are understanding if I ask for music to turned down or off or whatever. Marydoll, you are really having a rotten time of it lately. What a good job you have kleptomaniac Babydoll to cheer and put loving arms round you. I hope you can look forward to not having to take the steroids in the near future and then you can wave your magic wand and return to the organised and efficient person you really are, hopefully in time for christmas but at least to start the New Year in a much better way.

Wishing you all a good day

Good morning from sunny West Sussex by the sea. We’re off to do the Christmas markets this morning so just a quick note to wish Jaxjacky well for the THR. Susan, sorry to hear that your heart has been affected by your illness in the summer - I hope you will have the right medication and find it doesn’t affect your life too much.

Grammaretto, well done on selling two more pieces of furniture - your helpers always sound wonderful and you obviously make them feel very welcome in your home and community. GrannyGravy, Happy Birthday to your DS - what a gorgeous baby 😘

DH is pacing in the hall so I’d better go! Best possible day to Mick and all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 13-Dec-25 09:27:31

A late morning all from a beautiful frosty West Oxfordshire.

I had a bone density scan yesterday. Not a particularly onerous procedure but I suspect my osteoporosis has worsened a little.

Christmas cookery today. Stuffing and sausage rolls. I need to top up the lemon ice cream too. There are still a few presents to wrap and cards to write. We are getting ‘the’ tree next Tuesday.

Have a good day.

A later good morning from a bright and frosty Northampton - I slept until 9 o*clock after a late night!

A damp and grey day yesterday; dance classes in the morning after.which my dance friend and I repaired to the local pub for a festive drink instead of the bakery for coffee.

In the evening most neighbours were out for our annual Christmas dinner - a very nice evening with good food and good company - I got home late, fed the cats and then promptly fell asleep in the armchair!

A visit to the shops later this morning, then an early dinner and then I am out to DD's band Christmas concert this evening, which is always excellent and good fun.

Not read the thread yet, but will wish everyone a pleasant Saturday.

kittylester Sat 13-Dec-25 09:47:26

Good morning all from a misty North Leicestershire.

I have to go to the village to drop my local cards off at the florist. The local scouts do a delivery service at Christmas. And then the sofa and the papers call.

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrandmaC47 Sat 13-Dec-25 09:52:54

💐 for Marydoll, Jax and Susan thinking of the fgt’s

Scapa1 Sat 13-Dec-25 10:59:00

Grandmabatty I too was in Dobbies yesterday afternoon and had a look to see if I could see anyone I thought resembled you but didn’t. Must have missed you. Marydoll so sorry to hear of all your problems life is not easy for you. I seldom post but read every day to keep up with everyone’s news. We are both well and continue to saunter along living a quiet life although DH is awaiting an appointment fo cataract surgery and has been for ages. Hope everyone has something positive to look forward too at this time.

Blossoming Sat 13-Dec-25 11:09:10

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. Chilly and bright, I prefer it to cold and damp!.

MrB and I have been for our usual walk around the dock. It’s buzzing with activity, there’s an event taking place at the nearby motorsports track and the railway museum are gearing up for today’s Santa trains.

My prescription wasn’t ready yesterday, hoping it will be in today as the itching is driving me mad and is quite painful.

I’m thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles, as always.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🦩🦩🦩

karmalady Sat 13-Dec-25 12:03:42

Dear MD your positive mind over matter is inspirational, truly you are a role model

Susan that first diagnosis re the heart is a body blow, I remember how my DH felt but a few amendments and then life went on for him and he spent his time as a very happy cyclist. Don`t let that diagnosis floor you

Susan56 Sat 13-Dec-25 12:08:58

Thank you karma and everyone for your kind comments

karmalady Sat 13-Dec-25 12:08:58

* Madeleine* please don`t think about the inverter. It is quite a specialist piece of equipment which allows me to rotate backwards so my hands can rest on the floor behind my head. I tether it, hanging upside down while living on my own is not a good idea any more. I think I might hang at about 60 degrees

It is a big piece of kit and all my weight is on my ankles when I hang

Grandmabatty Sat 13-Dec-25 12:37:57

scapa that's a shame. We were specially seated away from the madding crowd in a part all our own.

Kalu Sat 13-Dec-25 13:39:50

Good afternoon. Another miserably wet and windy day in Glasgow.

I slept soundly for hours last night, not too long awake, I just wanted to wish you all the best Jax for your THR procedure today.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Saturday.

Jaxjacky Sat 13-Dec-25 14:00:45

Thank you all going down very soon.
