Good morning all. It’s colder this morning but no rain forecast.
I will light the woodburner as my db and SIL are coming for coffee , sausage rolls and mince pies and other mini delights. It will be cosy sitting around the fire.,

Yesterday was sunny and mild. DS1 came to pick Dh up early for footie and did half hour of gardening for me. 🌟. Mainly chopping down old bushes and shrubs.

Dd and DGD are going on the Polar Express this evening. Everyone to wear pjs . What fun!,

Glad you op is over Jax and hope your recovery is swift.🙏

Enjoy your Sunday, whatever you are doing. 🎄

Good morning from a peaceful Torbay it is very still and the sky is brightening.

Our play is finally over and, in the course of the week, we have had three full houses which is a record for Toads. This is a reflection on the choice of play rather than the quality of the performance. It has been good to be part of something after two years when my indifferent health has prevented me doing so but I am very tired today.

A blessed Sunday to you all.

Good morning everyone from a still dark Northampton, too dark to see what the weather is like, but it's supposed to be a fine day.

Enjoyed my shopping trip yesterday, and got everything I wanted, plus extra as my eye was caught by a nice Christmas top in Next, plus some perfume and a red necklace which will go nicely with a couple of my winter dresses.

Coming home on the bus my eye was drawn to a lady sitting opposite who bore a strong resemblance to my headteacher from the 1970s - eventually I plucked up courage to ask and low and behold it was she! It must be 6 or 7 years since I last saw her at a colleague's funeral. She is also the last person I would expect to see on a bus, hence my hesitation. We had a little chat before she had to get off at her stop - she is now living in a retirement home and must be 85 now. I remember her being the youngest headteacher in the county when she was appointed in her late twenties.

And then had a lovely evening at DD's band Christmas concert - her DH very kindly picked me up. A wonderful programme of familiar tunes plus a mix of less known pieces and carols which were sung with gusto! They are an absolutely brilliant band and have recently won three platinum awards in competition. A most joyful evening!

Shall have a late brunch then out this afternoon to live rugby - my team Northampton Saints are playing a team from South Africa in the European cup (don't ask!). It is likely to be very cold so will wrap up warm with thermals on! Will take my Christmas Saints reindeer which a kind person made for me for luck.
And then will come home to a warning hotpot which I retrieved from the freezer yesterday.

Wishing all a pleasant and peaceful Sunday.

Good morning from a still darkish Suffolk where I think we’ll have some sun again later. The lanes are still wet in places and muddy so this dry weather is appreciated.

Glad to read JaxJ’s post that all went well yesterday and beautifully decorated cookies * Bellasnanna*. How talented and patient your DD is. She could be a challenge for Biscuiteers if she lived in the UK!

I hope to finish the rest of the present wrapping today and 1 more still to arrive. I had a large parcel to send to DD2 in East Yorkshire and she suggested I used a courier service which she has done previously. I sent it by DPD taking it to the Spar shop in our nearest town although it could have been collected from home.

It was delivered within 24 hours and weighing 2ams cost £5.25. I am impressed by their service and shall use again.

Hope all have a good day especially those with others to care for or struggling themselves.

My Saints Christmas reindeer!

Morning Mick, morning All. Curtains opened to see a beautiful red sky, now fading to pink. A day of showers forecast.

Family coming for a buffet lunch today, just the teenagers missing as they are off to Longleat with their Mum. It’s very unusual to have our two in the same place at the same time, we’re very much looking forward to it. Our Not So Littlest will have a wonderful time shuttling between his Dad and Uncle, complex (competitive!) Lego will be built. Mr C will help (interfere) while I catch up with our super daughter in law. All I need to do is sort the food before they arrive. No breakfast in bed for me this morning!

Hope all today’s encounters are productive jax. My thoughts go to all with health and life challenges

Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Good morning from a still windy NE, it has been like this for days.
When I woke up I there was no heating on so it must be mild.
DS came yesterday after dropping off GD at her friend's then she came for dinner after. The poor girl was tired after a busy week and was falling asleep on the sofa, I told DS to take her home as it is a 45 minutes drive.
Tomorrow, after a day at school, she is travelling to Leeds for a concert and then back to a friend's for a sleepover. Tuesday is Beamish museum, Wednesday the pantomime and she breaks up Thursday lunchtime. How they juggle everything I do not know.
GD1 is driving herself back from university on Tuesday.
Nice quiet day for me. Enough food left over from last night so I can just reheat for tonight's dinner.
Have a good day.

RosieandherMaw Sun 14-Dec-25 08:21:19

Good morning from N Bucks a bit late , but no matter it’s a Sunday.
Stunning red sky as I let Rosie out, I suppose that doesn’t bode well.
Lunch out at pub with a friend midway between our villages today- so I don’t expect I’ll get much else done.!
I did one of my appointed tasks yesterday - seriously sorted out the big freezer. It was too cold to venture into the garage so I’ve left that for now. Oh and I did feed my Christmas cakes - 4, 1 for me and a small one for each of the girls. I’ll marzipan them on Thursday (when the car is getting its electric window fixed so I’m housebound ) and ice them at the weekend.
Hope to see some more Christmas trees over on my Sharing our Trees thread- have you all posted pics of yours?
With kind thoughts to all in pain, despair or shouldering burdens .

Grammaretto Sun 14-Dec-25 08:25:39

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. The wind has dropped and its not actually raining.

A satisfying day yesterday. 3 of us began to clear my enormous bookcase. I've sold it now. It will be picked up in early January and most of the books will go the Peebles book sale. We'll get the boxes into my car this morning.

After that I showed my Helpers Mavisbank House which neither had seen despite one living in Edinburgh for over 50years. The house is in a dreadful state but is to become a Landmark Trust holiday let amongst other things. Spending millions on it seems wrong in some respects.

We had lunch in the busy café where I volunteer and after more book sorting we settled to knitting by the fire.

I need to write the rest of my cards and there's a friend's at home to pop into at some stage.

Hoping everyone has some joy today.
Thinking specially of those who are poorly or coping with sadness.

Greyduster Sun 14-Dec-25 08:30:18

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where I am enjoying a sumptuous blazing sunrise from my east facing bedroom window. I hope you enjoy your trip today, Mick.

Yesterday was a day indoors as I was waiting for a parcel to be delivered. I dressed the living room fireplace and launched another attack on the Christmas tree in the conservatory. Not finished yet but we’re almost there. I also bottled my sloe gin and later sampled a small glass. Though it always tastes a little “new” at this point, it was delicious and a lovely deep red colour. It made two and a half bottles and while my intention has been on every occasion to keep a bottle back and let it really mature, it never quite works out like that! I wonder why?

GS rang for a chat in the evening which was lovely. He had been out playing golf with the university golf society and had thoroughly enjoyed his round even though they finished in the dark! He will be home for Christmas soon! Yay!

Food shopping for me this morning and then, as we have a dry day in prospect, a walk in the country park. I must also buy some wrapping paper.

Onward and upward Jax😊!

Have the best day you can folks.

hollysteers Sun 14-Dec-25 08:41:27

Good morning from a dark and damp northwest coast.
Charity Xmas fair in the next village yesterday and I picked up some stocking fillers and baked goods, followed by a walk in the park and lunch in the cafe there, very busy with dog owners and toddlers.

It was nice to be in for a cosy night after my trip to the south and I read Miss Read’s Village Christmas and watched an old play on YouTube with the excellent Jeremy Brett.
Flying DD in the south had her flight to Japan cancelled and ended up in Glasgow. Bit of a difference. She certainly leads a varied life.

I’m invited to an open mic hosted by a friend tonight, but I think I’ll just carry on with Xmas and house stuff with another cosy night in. I’ve been gadding about in the south for five days and am appreciating home life.

Hope you make a good recovery Jaxjacky and thoughts to the FGTs🌺

brook2704 Sun 14-Dec-25 08:48:41

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and dry, looks a bit windy too
You poor thing Jax what a thing to happen, wishing you a very speedy recovery
Nothing much planned for today but lots to keep me busy. I’ve seem to have started with a nasty cough so I’m going to take it easy and just rest.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

WhiteSwan63 Sun 14-Dec-25 08:51:07

Good morning from a dull grey damp East Coast. Had a lie in so I’ll put porridge on in a little while.
We need to do a big shop today as the fridge is empty. We’ll try to buy as much as we can for Christmas and then just need to go closer for our fresh stuff.

Yesterday with DD and DGD was lovely. We had a tasty lunch and to the cinema to see Wicked which was amazing. GD who is only seven was losing the will to live about half an hour from the end as it is quite a long film but she did well and watched to the end.
DH enjoyed a crafting afternoon with GD who is 3. She is so gorgeous she lives in party dresses with netting sparkly skirts with stripey leggings underneath. Shes quite a sight as you can imagine and the kindest little lady so DH was in his element. We were ready to put our feet up with a Chinese and glass of wine. We tried to watch a film but I was ready for bed at half nine.

Can I ask how I get your names to come up in the dark font I don’t know how to do that.

Sending best wishes to Jax for your ongoing recovery and to anyone else suffering health issues💐
Wishing a happy Sunday with moments of joy 🎄

Marydoll Sun 14-Dec-25 08:55:51

Good morning on Gaudete Sunday, a joyful day in the run up to Christmas.

Your trip sounds enjoyable, Mick. Currywurst, No. Nüremberg bratwurst, every time!!!

Unfortunately, I have lost my interesting, amusing and lengthy post!
What a lucky escape, you have had! 😂

Apologies for the miserable post yesterday, I don't usually wallow, but I was particularly mad at the world and my current situation.
It seems so be unfair for one person to have so much to deal with..

Today, I stll feel awful, but not so awful, wheezy, but not so wheezy, barking like an asthmatic puppy, rather than a large dog and the pea souper brain fog is more of an Autumn mist.
Onward and upwards.

I was posting on the Parish website and social media at Midnight, that a parishioner in her eighties had crafted goods to sell for the Restoration fund.
We only found out late last night. This crazy brain has advantages!
I am amazed that this urgent need for repairs has brought our Parish Community so close together. 💕

Today, the plan is to wrap gifts I hope we have no visitors. I want to be alone.😉

Susan, 💐I seem to have missed your news about your heart, Bear in mind, I was away with the fairies for a few days.
When I was told I had suffered a silent heart attack, I was terrified. I was sure I was going to drop dead at any moment,
However, you eventually learn to live with it and the anxiety, in my case, eased.
When I had the second one, I calmly phoned 999. because DH wasn't calm.

When I was away with those fairies, I think I read that NannyJan's mother was ill. It may be someone else's mother. Sending best wishes anyway.

Thank you for your ongoing support and kindness. It does help to keep my spirits up.

Wishing you all a lovely Sunday.

Whiteswan, put an asterisk before and after the username, No spaces.
^ before and after words, gives itallics.

WhiteSwan63 Sun 14-Dec-25 09:15:54

Thankyou so much Marydoll

WhiteSwan63 Sun 14-Dec-25 09:16:16

It worked xx

No you are not!
Never too late to learn. wink

Marydoll Sun 14-Dec-25 09:36:15

Grammaretto, I wasn't quite paying attention and thought that was your home.🤣

luluaugust Sun 14-Dec-25 09:38:36

Good morning from a bright and sunny W Kent. But of a dash this morning as I am doing lunch for seven, not so quick at it all now. Both DGD’s are able to come, I love watching them chat together.
Very best wishes all round

Susan56 Sun 14-Dec-25 10:01:37

Marydoll you have described exactly how I felt when I got the phone call from the dr🙈😩feeling slightly more positive today!

I too thought it was Grammaretto’s house🤦🏼‍♀️what a pair we are Marydoll🤪

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 14-Dec-25 10:06:06

That doesn’t give italics Marydoll - the asterisks give bold.
The little inverted ‘v’ sign (it’ll have a name but I don’t know it) is the one before and after a word, or sentence that gives italics.

Good luck WhiteSwan practice makes perfect. 😊
