Good morning everyone from a dark wet Wales - oh another week of this orrible gloom and the days will slowly get longer, that’ll perk me up…☺️

So many health issues on here and my best wishes go out to the THRs (had/waiting) and heart problems - that’s without young family members having treatments just before Christmas 🤦‍♀️

I managed to get my cards written yesterday after two days of trotting around after Dad who veers from insisting there’s sod all wrong (his GP thinks differently) to suggesting that he’s not long for this world…😡

I’ve managed to broker a peace between him and my youngest brother and his wife and the next thing is to discuss his driving (not) - I may have to pull Big Sister rank on this as I saw how he struggles to move his legs as a passenger, my conscience will come before the inconvenience of us all having to fetch and carry for him!

Forgive my superficial read and run through your doings in the run up to Christmas, folks, but know I wish you all an easier time of whatever troubles you 🤗

Good morning from a dry and mild (for December) Bristol.
Please rest assured that I didn’t go to DD’s Christingle yesterday. It would have taken me a lot of time, in the dark,. Also, I realised that I had put the time wrong on my calendar; both are at 4 pm. I had thought ours was at 6 pm.
Yesterday was successful. I got onions for soup, but didn’t have to make it, new blades for my Stanley knife, and prepared the necessary for gingerbread before going to the church coffee.
This wasn’t especially well attended but was very pleasant. I had a good chat with the vicar - he usually talks to others, not avoiding me, I hope.
I came home and made the gingerbread, then put it in the fridge for an hour to firm up. Lunch was some baked beans as I didn’t have any soup, and had run out of dry biscuits.
I made some 50 gingerbread men and xmas trees ready for icing on Tuesday. The ginger flavour isn’t very strong despite adding twice what the recipe said.
I also made a large bolognaise sauce for dinner and another 4 meals.
Today, church in the morning, our own Christingle in the afternoon. (I’m not helping. Yippee)
Many prayers and thoughts for those in need, especially md who is plugging on despite so many health problems, the fgts struggling, susan with her horrible diagnosis, and all the others I have missed also struggling .
Have a blessed Sunday. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩❤️

Morning from a dark S Hants, think it’s dry
Recovering from hip op done at 4pm yesterday, so erratic sleep with interruptions, occupational health today and a date with the commode!
Enjoy your trip out Mick. You’re heading for a Nobel Pantglas 😇
Enjoy your day all 🦩🦩.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire, I’ve been awake since just after 3 am, just brought a cup of tea back to bed with me and hope to get another couple of hours..
Christmas lunch today with the Theatre Group I belong to, we go rather than take part! My wee town is a good place to be old in, a wide variety of activities, all well supported by women and a smaller number of men making the very best of old age.

I’ve been in Dunoon visiting in laws for a couple of days and luckily Friday took a break from the wild wet weather and I enjoyed a lovely long walk with my lovely sister in law, along the shore under a clear blue sky, it really raised my spirits.

DD2 and DGD are coming over later to get the tree etc down from the loft and help put up the Christmas decorations and I will finish writing cards.

Good luck with the next challenge on the horizon Pantglas, I love your positivity! I think you may have taken it from your dad😊

Wished all of you a good day x

Good morning from s somerset, another dull day, sigh

I made a lovely risotto yesterday, meant for the slow cooker so there was a lot of it and it expanded to fill my pan. It was beautiful and used a butternut squash and leeks, both from my allotment. I have frozen four portions, comfort food at its best. None of this cooking is quick

I picked cavalo nero from my allotment, covered with white fly, hidden under every leaf. I dealt with them and will actually `scrub` every leaf again before using. It might stand well during winter but I am not growing CN again. I will just buy my clean organic kale from the farmer. Meanwhile my one sprout plant at home is looking pristine with beautiful tight sprouts

Allotment, washing a big length of fabric and cooking, it takes time and I can`t say I did much else, no big project and just 30 minutes spent on interfacing dress pieces. I didn`t waste my day but have no idea where the time went

On second thoughts, I spent a lot of time chatting to DDs and helping transform food intake as there is a food sensitivity.

Today, I am potching with no real project. I might spin a little, sew a little, clean the kitchen again. Sit and knit and carry on chatting and oh yes I have an advent calendar gift today, it will again be a good gift, sewing related from beyond the pink door. I like the better 12 gifts rather than 24 and there is always the archers

I think I will make a full blown minestrone soup with cavalo nero and beans and no doubt I will be ready, as always, for my afternoon relaxation

Have a good day

Good morning from a dark but not too cold Black Country.

Lovely sunny day yesterday, so we drove over to a village near Worcester to my DB and SIL's to see Mum who is there after being discharged from Hospital

She seems fine, we went for a little walk, but she has no memory whatsoever of being in Hospital. Carers have been arranged to visit her at home from Monday, 30 minutes a day just to check she has taken her tablets, and make her lunch. So I need to be there Monday for the first visit, just to make sure all is ok, and she accepts them being there. Sadly it means I miss my Walking Group Christmas meal.

Today I really must start my Tax Return. Every year I say I will do it in October, and every year I leave it till December!

Wishing you all the best day possible, with special thoughts of FGT's, MD and anyone I have missed who is struggling healthwise

Good morning from my corner of South Lanarkshire. It’s damp and still outside.

Enjoy your day out Mick. Stilllearning, have a lovely lunch with your group.

We’re going out lunch too. Just to our local hotel which is a short walk from my house. DD is coming over with a couple of her children. I didn’t ask which two as the last time I did that she asked why, did I have favourites? 😂

I did a bit of wrapping yesterday but my back was complaining so it’ll have to be done in stages.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good Morning from a very windy Durham. I’m awaiting the delivery of a new tv for my family room, due between 7 and 8am. DD2 is bringing DGS2 over around 1pm, it may just be playing inside as neither of us are fond of being blown around outdoors!
Hope your ‘date’ is productive Jax. Frustrating times Pant - and breathe!
Hoping Marydoll will post better news.

Best wishes to all. X

Bellasnana Sun 14-Dec-25 06:55:51

Good morning from Malta where it’s dry with a high of 19°C forecast.

Did absolutely nothing yesterday apart from enjoy the company of the cat Winston.

DD2 sent video clips of their town’s Christmas Parade which had me feeling emotional as I would so love to have seen it in person.

DGD was on a huge float decked out as Santa’s workshop with she and her friends all wearing elf hats and looking lovely.
Her school’s marching band also took part and I was very impressed! It’s a big band and they really are good.

It all looked so happy and well organised with so many local businesses taking part, the fire and police departments were represented by a huge fire engine and police car which our boys would have loved!

DGD then had a party with her softball team for which DD2 had made cookies (picture if you’re interested 😄) I don’t know how she has the patience as each one is hand done.

DGS2 is poorly again with tonsillitis and a fever. The doctor has signed him off from school until Wednesday so I will be having him tomorrow and Tuesday. Poor little chap catches whatever is going just like his mum who was always my sickliest child.😢

I intend to go to Mass this morning after which another quiet day which suits me fine being somewhat of an introvert and happiest in my own home.

Thinking of you all, get well soon Jax, and keep strong all those with worries.☀️

RosesandLilac Sun 14-Dec-25 07:00:21

Good morning, another horrible soggy start to the day although yesterday’s sunrise was gloriously golden - unlikely to happen today as it’s very cloudy.
I had an all-day art class on zoom yesterday, very enjoyable but I was rather tired by the evening.
I had a very restless night, little sleep so luckily there’s nothing planned for today besides housework and ironing.
Sending hugs to everyone who needs one and good wishes to all 🌹

madeleine45 Sun 14-Dec-25 07:04:34

I am spitting feathers, just finished my post and then it has disappeared in a puff of smoke, so Not a good morning at all! Am going to drink my coffee and see if I can find it in drafts or something. In the meantime I wish you all a good morning and day and will be back later

Aldom Sun 14-Dec-25 07:09:28

Good morning Mick and everyone.
Jaxjacky a special good morning to you. So glad surgery is over for you. Hope OT and comode duties go well. smile
As it's only a few weeks since I moved into the area I have put a Christmas card through my neighbours' letter boxes. At least now they all know my name. Two have reciprocated and I have had a brief chat with my next door neighbour as a result. She seemed very pleased by my friendly gesture.
Yesterday I took the bus into town, it's only a 15 minute journey. After shopping I met my daughter for a quick coffee in the museum.
My granddaughter came home from university last night. I'll see her on Monday when we go to see the film A Christmas Carol. It's the version filmed in Shrewsbury.
Not sure if I will get to church this morning. It's cold and there's no bus service on Sunday. It's a 30 minute walk. I've already had rather a lot of taxis this week. So not having another as I need two on Wednesday!
My thoughts are with all who are finding life difficult for whatever reason. Wishing the best possible day for everyone. flowers

Good morning all from a dark but dry Black country.
More present wrapping today and I have a few cards to write and deliver to neighbours.
Mick enjoy your trip.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 14-Dec-25 07:18:58

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I don’t think there’s a frost but the sky is red.

I got a lot done yesterday - enough stuffing mix for two dozen stuffing balls, and three dozen sausage rolls. I also made a tub of lemon ice cream. I wrapped the remaining presents - I am waiting for one to be delivered - and put second class stamps on the cards.

Church this morning. I will go to one of the churches in the Benefice I rarely attend. Roast pork for dinner and raspberry and blackberry crumble.

Have a good day. Thinking of MaryD and the FGT2S.

ginny Sun 14-Dec-25 07:28:40

Good morning from N. Bucks where it sounds windy but I have not looked outside yet.
DGSs 2 & 3 enjoyed their craft session yesterday. The 9 year old was very competent, 4 year old need help. They were even happy to help clear up . A small chocolate bribe may have helped. Photo above of their efforts.
The suite was successfully moved to DD2s . We are now sitting on garden chairs until Tuesday when our new one arrives . We reminisced about the early days in our first house when we had deckchairs and Granmas old curtains and rugs and parents old dining table although we ended up with the latter for 30 years.
To day we shall put up curtains and Christmas decorations in the dining room and hallway
Thoughts with all poorlies and wishing them a quick recovery. and a good day for all.

Redcar Sun 14-Dec-25 07:29:59

Good morning everyone from a chilly but dry mid Essex. Another dry day is forecast but it’s still very muddy out. I didn’t go out yesterday as I had to stay indoors to wait for some tracked mail to arrive. DD1 and family came over for a while. The dog managed to escape my garden into next door’s, but was quickly retrieved and the escape route temporarily blocked with large empty flower pots. A more permanent solution is needed.
DD2 may come over today for a quick visit. I need to write a letter to go into one Christmas card, then the last few can be posted. I need to deliver the local cards tomorrow.

jaxjacky I hope your “date” goes well! No doubt you’ll also have a date with physiotherapists later too. I hope you have adequate pain relief today.
bellasnana those cookies look brilliant, your DD is so talented!
grandmattie enjoy the Christingle service today, I hope you don’t get roped in to help at the last minute!

Thinking of those with health issues, I hope you feel a little better today.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 14-Dec-25 07:34:01

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and damp. Bellasnana those cookies are fabulous. Pantglas I hope you are successful with your dad!
Yesterday I met two friends for breakfast. My usual breakfast chum was behaving oddly. She was insistent on me and my other friend sitting down and she would take the order and bossy over a couple of other thing. Finally I made a comment to the other friend about not liking to be beholden to others and my breakfast friend got very upset. She began to cry and said she was beholden to others. I honestly was disconcerted as the conversation hadn't been about or to her. She does suffer from mental fragility and, looking back, she must have been having a bad day. She's supposed to be phoning for a place for lunch for a group of us, but I'm not sure that'll happen. Once home, I rested for a while to recover from the previous bad night. Dsil brought more washing for my tumble dryer. I'm going to change my name to Widow Twankey! I gave him a case of wine away with him for the two of them as I don't drink much these days. It also cleared a space in my dining room.
Today will involve a trip to Aldi and some housework. At some point I will wrap presents or at least start the process. Dinner will be whatever I buy from Aldi. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Sun 14-Dec-25 07:35:55

Jaxjacky good to hear from you. I hope your adventure later has a successful outcome!

kittylester Sun 14-Dec-25 07:36:02

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

An easy day today. DH is going to the football with DS1. Their tickets include lunch so that is one job less for me. I will wrap DH's presents while he is out.

My choir sand outside at a Christmas Market. They started with a flash mob version of A Spaceman Came Travelling which went down very well. I am sorry I wasn't there.

Have the best day possible everyone.

ginny Sun 14-Dec-25 07:39:02

Oh bother. I posted the wrong photo.

dragonfly46 Sun 14-Dec-25 07:43:52

Good morning from a very dark Leicestershire.

Was awake all night planning DHs return home on Tuesday. He will have to spend sometime on one level which has involved furniture rearrangement and walking frames etc. hopefully as time goes on he will get stronger and when the stair lift finally arrives he will be able to sleep and shower upstairs.

He is getting bored where he is which is a good sign.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Biggs Sun 14-Dec-25 07:46:04

Morning from a dry Somerset with a beautiful sunrise, pinks and purples streaking the sky. I’m off painting this morning with the fam, will be lovely at a local studio, Christmas penguins.

EkwaNimitee Sun 14-Dec-25 07:51:44

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark Carlisle. The heavy rain and gales forecast haven't transpired as yet, maybe I will get out for a walk shortly after all.
Yesterday I was out in town early to collect another prescription, I think I've got all the necessary pills to take me over the holidays now. I'm still waiting for the surgery to contact me over more stuff for my mouth, it needed to be supplied to follow straight on for the inadequate original amount prescribed but wasn't. They quoted me a response time of 72 working hours. What does that mean? 3 days or 9?

Today I'll tackle my pile of ironing and have a spruce up of my kitchen work surfaces and my horrible white composite sink which is the very devil to keep white. They, the developers, were supposed to supply a charcoal grey one but didn't and I couldn't be bothered to hold moving in matters any longer so let it be. Should have known better, I had such a sink in my previous residence and eventually got shot of it.

I used up some eggs and over ripe bananas yesterday and made some banana bread so one of my first moves must be to get it in the garage freezer before I start picking at it! Then the rest of the day after above chores are finished will be spent in idleness, reading mostly.

Jaxjacky I hope you recover well and are soon running around again.

And best wishes to everyone especially those you suffering in any way.

Kalu Sun 14-Dec-25 07:54:46

Good morning all. No sign of any let up in Glasgow of this stormy weather.

More candle making today and make good use of a stash of cream alpaca wool as GD2 has requested a throw or as known in our family, a soosie blanket which I have started to crochet.

Hoping your ‘date’ goes well Jax.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Sunday especially to all with worries and struggles.
