Panorama tonight on BBC1 at 8pm is all about Evri. If you have been let down this could be an interesting watch.

I waited for a delivery by EVRI. A car came down my drive. I heard a bang like a car door and saw the car reverse and drive away. I assumed it was the EVRI driver. I eventually got a replacement order.
My GS lives in a rural area where there are numerous complaints of non delivery. He looked up information on EVRI and found that part of the company is DPD.
Parcel Force vans round here are two coloured with GPO Parcel Force red livery on one side and blue EVRI on the other.
What future is there for our future deliveries?

Wyllow3 Tue 16-Dec-25 23:30:50

Lovely young Evri man. I appreciate its really really patchy. No, didn't watch the programme either - I suspect as a company they have grown too fast and have really inadequate management in some areas?

Shinamae Tue 16-Dec-25 23:42:38

We have an excellent Evri delivery man…(Andre)
Always polite and happy and we sure do know when he’s on holiday….😱

Amazon are really good here - delivery within 24 hours. Temu are usually about a week but who knows where they come from, it varies. I had a little laugh at the parcel from the ‘Chinese republic of Taiwan’ next it will be the ‘Chinese republic of Australia’ and maybe the ‘Peoples Republic of the United Kingdom’

Do any delivery companies actually do CRB checks on potential employees?

Or do they adopt the policy that if someone is desperate enough to work for them then "they'll do".

When they were Hermes I received a large parcel for '52 Priory Road' left at my house. I actually live in a road with a completely different name, at number 25 - there is no 52! We are oppoite Priory School so the courier was clearly making a random guess. As the correct address was not far away I took it round in my car. The recipients were very grateful but as I didn't want to risk them trying to con the company out of a replacement if they were not honest I informed Hermes by email.
The reaulting email exchange was utterly unbelievable. Their customer services could not understand what had happened and thought I had lost a parcel I was expecting. In the end I suggested they pay me for the delivery since I had made it, not their driver! Their response was to offer a 10% discount next time I sent something with them! My response - "In your dreams"!
I haven't had major issues snce with Evri though I try to avoid ordering online and often use a parcel shop for deliveries when I need to order online.
The ones I had trouble with recently were Yodel. I expected to be in on the suggested day but they told me there would be a delay so I asked it to be redirected to some parcel lockers a few minutes walk away. After many days of emails saying the parcel lockers were not working or were all full, I asked for the parcel to be delivered to me again. I eventually got notification of delivery, but no parcel. The 'proof of delivery' was a photo of my next door neighbour's property with no parcel anywhere in sight. Complaints resulted in me being told to contact the sender, but I said it was clearly their problem as they had not actually supplied proof of delivery. Two days later the 'lost' parcel was left on my doorstep. They didn't even ring the bell and I was there all day! The parcel was tiny and would have fitted through the letterbox! I did then contact the sender to advise them to change courier.

It seems to be hit and miss.
Evri has been fine so far.
Hermes was dire.
Amazon? Mostly OK, but when you get a driver that can’t read numbers or road names, (had 2 of those recently) you may as well reorder.

Evri is Hermes, they rebranded in 2022.

You beat me to it Sago I’m surprised how many on this thread think Hermes and Evri are different companies.

karmalady Wed 17-Dec-25 06:22:54

My dd found an evri package, thrown into a hedge, she was on a run and later took her car out to deliver it to the correct owner a few miles away

Evri for me has always been good, the courier has been very good but several in my market town have been let down and are avoiding companies that use evri

Mollygo Wed 17-Dec-25 08:16:59

Just to reassure you all, I knew about the Hermes rebranding, but in terms of their performance for me, the rebrand brought a vast improvement.
Yodel and DPD?

It seems to me it is primarily the organisation that is to blame. Evri drivers are being paid less due to the regrading of parcels size for which they are paid pro rata. The programme made it clear even good reliable drivers are leaving Evri because the reimbursement is so poor and dropping them below the minimum wage. Evri deliveries here are dreadful and you are lucky to get your parcels. This has been going on for years. I dread it when the carrier is Evri. A few parcels you can collect from their post shop, a mile away which I do where it’s an option. We have a new driver who may be ok but how long will he stay?

Amazon are now pretty awful too. I am constantly finding soggy wet parcels dumped in my garden which are not even for me.

25Avalon Wed 17-Dec-25 08:55:33

I have recently signed a Chang.Org petition asking for regulation of all parcel delivery companies.

I note MPs up and down the country are now getting involved with the Evri issue where there are so many unhappy people. Evri make a lot of money and they should be ashamed of the way they treat their drivers. Good deliveries are down to the conscientiousness of drivers going above and beyond. The organisation stinks.

Gummie Wed 17-Dec-25 13:20:46

My Evri driver is brilliant. OI always give Michael 5 star reviews as he delivers on time and makes sure the parcel is left in a safe place if I'm out.

I think I'm very lucky and I hope he never quits this round.

25Avalon Wed 17-Dec-25 14:50:36

Gummie he may quit if Evri don’t get their act together.

watermeadow Wed 17-Dec-25 17:09:35

I need a gadget to put my socks on. £20 in the Mobility Store, £5 from eBay.
Just heard the courier is Evri. I’m not going to get it, am I?

25Avalon Wed 17-Dec-25 17:33:31

The MP for Glastonbury and Somerset has now written to Evri about poor deliveries in that area.

It's officially The Republic Of China (Taiwan) ....probably just a bad translation.

Brahumbug Thu 18-Dec-25 11:17:25

I had an delivery driver shouting abuse at me the other day🙄. He said " I know where you live", which was clearly a lie as he was in an Evri van. 😂

Luckygirl3 Thu 18-Dec-25 11:28:19

Evri is OK round here. We had a lovely young driver who was always cheerful, asked how you were and if he could help get the parcel in for you - he left about a year ago but the new guy is just fine.

Nice youn g man left because of the working conditions.

LadyBridgerton Thu 18-Dec-25 12:38:52

Evri got my shoes on December 4th, claim they tried to deliver on the 6th, untrue I was in all day because of workmen in the house, and have now decided they lost them and I need to contact the seller to get a refund.

Sara1954 Fri 19-Dec-25 06:26:19

I ordered something for a Christmas present a couple of weeks ago, it was due to be delivered to my work on Monday, couple of texts saying they couldn’t deliver, rubbish because we are open all day, then I had another text, due Christmas Eve, we will be closed from midday, and I imagined it chucked over our gates for the Christmas period.
I contacted the company and asked them to divert it back to them and cancel it, then it arrived yesterday.

Doodledog Fri 19-Dec-25 07:03:44

I saw the programme, but it wasn’t very good. Panorama used to be an interesting show that did fairly deep analysis of all sorts of national and international affairs, but now it’s more like Watchdog, with one-sided moans about consumer issues that skim the surface of the problem.

I think the government should regulate delivery companies, or go back to the days when Royal Mail (then the GPO) delivered everything. They did give themselves a 28 day delivery window though - that would have to be reconsidered now😀. Seriously, if companies were fined for late or non-delivery, and heavily sanctioned for bad behaviour as employers (there should be no self-employed drivers, everyone should be police and border-control checked, minimum wage requirements should be adhered to etc) services would improve a lot. We might have to pay a bit more for delivery, or companies might have to absorb the costs, but that’s a choice we would have to make.

Gummie Fri 19-Dec-25 11:59:14

What I like about my Evri driver is that it is the same chap or his wife who cover my area. So they know us and what he can do with parcels if I'm out or which neighbours are willing to take parcels etc.
With all the other couriers including Royal Mail they are never the same delivery driver. Some are very nice and others are totally useless. But I'm sure most of them don't know the routes or areas well

watermeadow Fri 19-Dec-25 19:40:43

I’ve had an Evri driver calling 2 days running. Yesterday he asked politely if I’d take in a neighbour’s parcel. Today my sock gadget arrived!
I hadn’t expected to ever get it, having heard all their bad press.

DrWatson Sun 21-Dec-25 03:30:49

Most of the courier firms may have lousy, poorly trained drivers. EVRI is bottom of the review list, but lots of similar firms can mess up your delivery!

EVRI works OK in some areas, like bits of the NHS, you get a postcode lottery.

I'd like Govt to FORCE all such firms to take a meaningful photo of the property they've delivered to, with the GPS co-ordinates. The present silly photos you see on F'book (all over the country) showing a pair of feet, or a doorstep with a parcel, are just SO irritating! Sure, they prove it's been delivered, to somebody, somewhere, but WHAT flipping use is THAT?! There's a subset of folk round the country with a secondary occupation, tracking down their missing parcel, or finding the rightful home for the one they've mysteriously had delivered (likely with no knock or ring of the bell, even though they've been in all day?!). And it all wastes SO much time and effort!

Marmight Sun 21-Dec-25 06:55:28

The Panorama prog was very enlightening.
My garage is attached to my house - at the back. I went out to bring in the bins on Thursday night to find, on the pavement, what had once been a big cardboard box, completely rain sodden & collapsed containing an equally soaked box containing champagne. I had been home all day due to the dreadful weather so why, when it was easy to ring the front door bell, did the driver (yes, Evri!) trek all the way round the back. TG no one had nicked the 🍾. Probably too wet for people to be out. My lucky day & Ive no idea who it was from as there was no note attached! No notification of delivery from Evri so no photo 😡
