“5-a-day”? Today (again) I’ve missed them ALL by a country mile!

Oh heck it’s not very healthy is it?

(My meals) today I’ve had:

A bowl of Jordan’s cereal, (Do a few dried raspberries count?)

2 thick slices of Hovis, buttered and topped with thick spread of Philly cheese.

A lamb hot pot ready meal. Didn’t even bother to cook some broccoli to go with it. Norty me.
A small custard tart.
A Turkish Delight.

Tomorrow’s meals for me don’t fare any better unless you count a dollop of coleslaw.

I’d best pile my plate with Brussels sprouts and carrots then on Christmas Day!

It was an ad campaign. Not based on anything.
Considering all the chemicals, coatings etc., I wouldn't beat yourselves up too much if you don't succeed in the 5 per day directive.
Info moves on and everything changes
Not that all those lovely sweet foods mentioned above are good for us either 🤣🍇🍅🍉🍌🥑🥦🧅🥜🍿🍰🎂🍬🍭

AuntieE

Are we talking fruit or vegetables here?

Fruit is so expensive here that I could not possibly afford 5 pieces of fruit a day!

Vegetables: potatoes, red cabbage prune and apple stuffing every day during Christmas.

just curious, where are you that fruit is so expensive you can't afford it?

In any case the "five pieces" receommendation covers both fruit and veg.

Christmas pud can include fruit and veg ( if you include grated carrot, apple, dates, sultanas, apricots etc).

Christmas lunch for 6 (one of them vegetarian); veg included CPud as above, parsnips, potatoes, sprouts, a rice and beetroot risotto. My contribution was cranberry sauce (fresh berries plus the juice and zest of an orange). Then a stuffing made with leeks, onions, vacuum pack apricots, ditto chestnuts, a lot of fresh herbs, crumbs, juice and zest of a lemon and an egg.
