Recommendations for neck friendly pillows?

Hi. I’ve tried lots of pillows and couldn’t find one I liked, until I bought one from Panda, it’s a memory foam pillow but quite slim, it just fits in-between my neck and shoulder.
Cost about £40. They offer a 30 day refund if you don’t get on with it. I must admit i wasn’t sure at first took me about 4 weeks to get used to it, but now love it.

I have neck problems from injuring my top seven vertebrae falling of a horse at speed when I was 25
My GP advised the thinnest pillow - I’ve tried the expensive foam pillows. I’m back with a thin ordinary pillow and have less neck or head aches as a result

I had a similar issue and bought the pillow below, you can turn it for back or neck, I have found it good for the neck though I do not like lying so flat.

We have given up on memory foam in favour of Groove pillows after one of our sons in law told us how good they are.

I have a memory foam pillow, I think it's Silent Night. It does alleviate neck ache which I seem to get these days. It is firm. I don't use it every night, sometimes I want to be flatter, it's much more of a platform. I did use it last night and had a fairly good sleep 11pm till 4 am, which is good for me at any rate.

I'm truly grateful, GN's for these recommendations.

Iam my neck says have a thicker wedge under the neck as I keep trying to sort of bundle my pillow it up thicker at the front. (I hope the thin option worked for you, however.)

I mostly go to sleep lying on my side.

I'm very interested on the Original Groove pillow, and the Amazon one. The Panda one is thinner than I am looking for.

My ?? is whether the groove pillow it stops you - sort of moving around, does it feel like it "pinning your head to one spot?"

Since diagnosis Himself has had ‘Groove’ pillows kitty. We’d never heard of them but my lovely sister in Spain ordered them from Amazon and we had a knock at the door. I filled up at her kindness that day.

I think this is the Panda London one, I'm wondering how thick it is, its hard to tell

Are they really good, FGT?

I love the Groove pillow I use and in no way does it stop me moving about. Not sure where my head ends up tbh but it has elevated my neck pain and I gave more movement too.

So glad himself has found it helpful, fgt2. There are all sorts of good things out there aren't there. We just need to keep talking, sharing experiences and be open minded.

Hi Willow yes that’s the one. I’ve just measured mine it’s about 4/5 inches high, my head sinks into it. I used to sleep on my front and had neck problems, but since I’ve had sciatica I can only sleep on my side now, which has been better for my neck.

Its actually the Amazon's choice it got so many good ratings.
Its an unusual shape (the bit coming down at the front, doesnt that stop you getting close up to the "platform" effect?

Yes I remember now, their recommendation which made me opt for it. I think the bit coming down accommodates the head quite well. It does support, but as I said, I don't use it every night. I'm reluctant to recommend, in case it wouldn't suit you Wyllow. It has helped with my neck ache.

I should have added I do lie on my side and it's fine in that respect.

Well just me say thanks to all the derailed and helpful comments here I have ordered one of the options described.

I do understand what works for one may not be idea for another but its all helps me decide. x

Best ever pillow for neck problems is a buckwheat one. I must have bought at least 12 ‘recommended’ pillows over the years, grooved, memory foam, feather, wool etc but nothing sorts out my neck better than my buckwheat one. It takes a bit of getting used to but I wouldn’t be without it now. I bought mine on Amazon but there are other retailers.

It moulds to whatever shape you want, completely supportive.
