Good Morning Everyone,
A dark, cold and dry start to the day here in Brackley.
Back to my regular routine with a bus journey to Bicester , I plan to have a mid morning Breakfast in a cafe bar in the town as a treat, and hopefully see people I know as well.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a promising looking start to the day in Torbay where the wind has finally abated.

We are late waking this morning but I’m sure these eight hour nights are good for us. I just wish my right shoulder were not so grumpy in the morning. I’m becoming quite adept at reaching for things in the kitchen with my left hand!

It’s interesting to read of how folks like their familiar routines however much they’ve enjoyed the company of their families.
I hope today brings you happiness in whatever you do.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun is just getting its act together. Nice to be back in my own bed last night though I didn’t sleep as well as I expected to.
Today I have to do a small shop so that I can cook for DS when he comes down tomorrow. I shall try and fit a walk in later if it stays dry; I haven’t had a lot of exercise the past few days.
Have the best day you can folks.

Morning from a chilly S Hants where the gloom is lifting, a quiet day yesterday catching up on TV. We had bubble and squeak with cold meat and pickles last night, delicious.
This is my most sober Christmas ever, the wine stash with espresso martini treats remain untouched, can’t risk a slip, so my 0.5% cans of shandy are tipple of choice.
Might get out today, if MrJ fancies being chauffeur.
Hope those struggling see a glimmer of light.

Good morning everyone from the East Coast.
Another dry day for us. The sunset last night was spectacular.
We had a very relaxing Boxing Day with a couple of hours over tea time at our best friends Boxing Day gathering. My DS and GS only stayed a few minutes as it was all too overwhelming for my GS so I drove them home. They put out a buffet and hosted very well. My little GDs had a lovely time and delighted everyone.

Today my DH is taking our Daughter’s car in for an MOT so DD and DGDs will stay at ours with me. Christmas is still in full swing at ours so we will enjoy some chocs and a Xmas movie together.
Our suitcases are out of the cupboard into the bedroom ready to be packed for our holiday in a few days. Must try my clothes on and see what still fits. I’ll do that this morning.

Hope you all enjoy your day with moments of joy💐

Good morning all, it's 5°C here in Glasgow, Another disturbed night, due to my coughing.
I got up, so as not to disturb DH, but he came looking for me, to check I was OK. 😍

Yesterday was spent relaxing. I swore I was doing no church work, but was forced to, when I read the weekend draft parish bulletn,
It was full of errors.
The problem is that the young man, who writes it, is very willing, but has no experience of parish life nor parishioners' names. I am always apologising on behalf of the P..P

I tidied up the spare room after DD's sojourn and my own wee study, where everything had been dumped,
DH always forgets at least one item, therefore I made her do a proper search.
It didn't work. I found a cheese serving board, a Muppets Christmas Carol apron which needed washed, a pyrex dish, a freezer backpack and a bottle of whisky. She never let's me down , with my expectations. 😉
DH had bought me a new jewellery box, so I spent ages sorting it.
How on earth can I have so many single earring????

Today, I need to pop to Sainsbury''s for bread and back to do the parish admin.
Then down to open up for the Vigil Mass and clean up the the candelabras used by the seminarian, He doesn't do any tidying up. 😪

Enjoy your day, everyone. It's good to hear that many have spent happy times with family. I hope the mountaineers had as good a day as their health allowed.
I too have a diverticulitis flare up, I will need to hang fire on going out, until the spasms stop..😪

Lazing in bed in Hertfordshire (my sister’s home)
The Imp and DD are up along with my teenage niece, the 9yr old niece, sister and brother in law are still asleep.
We had a lovely day yesterday, easy journey here, wandered into their local pub for a couple of glasses of fizz (left the children behind, first time The Imp has been trusted to stay with his cousins without an adult). They were good.
Scrumptious dinner cooked by BiL, more fizz, lots of chatter and no TV.

More of the same today 🤶🏻

Good morning all and it’s a frosty one here in Essex.

A lovely day yesterday at DS1’s with all the family. I meant to get a photo of us all as we’re not often all available, but of course forgot! 🙄.

I don’t seem to have many ‘leftovers’ as I took a lot to DS1’s. He says he’s got so much food over so perhaps he’ll bring some back. 🤞.

Not much on today. Dh might go to footie with ds1 but as it’s frosty it will probably be postponed. I’ll go to get the paper, walk the dog and clear the house . Presents everywhere.

I hope you all have a restful day after all the gatherings and parties.

Good morning from dry and chilly Glasgow.

We stayed at DD’s last night after spending the afternoon and evening with them. Another Christmas dinner, which was delicious then we played a couple of games. Cards against humanity was hilarious, at one point DH was laughing so much that he couldn’t breathe, of course the rest of us were in stitches laughing at him.

We’re just having coffee then going home to get ready to go out for lunch. My brother and his partner are over from France, spending Christmas with her family not too far from us. I’ll enjoy seeing them again.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a much cloudier Black Country.

It was such a glorious sunny day yesterday, albeit quite cold. So we went a walk along our local canal, where we bumped into a few people we knew for a chat.

Then back home for scrambled eggs and smoke salmon.

No real plans today or tomorrow, just lazy relaxed days at home, before we go over to Lichfield Monday for DS's 50th birthday meal.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

monk08 Sat 27-Dec-25 08:41:35

Good morning all from a dry but cold Black country, just wandered down the garden to feed the birds it was very windy.
Yesterday was a lovely day with family DS cooked the lamb perfectly and DiL said as he did such a good job he can have the job permanently. The boys played nicely together no arguments, a chilled day being waiting on was very much enjoyed.
Over to friends this evening.
Back to normal now with the usual Saturday full English calling, so enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans will catch up with everybody's happenings later ☀️.

Good mor. Ing from a calm dull Suffolk where I’ve only just woken up and about to have my first cup of tea. I can’t remember when I last slept so long especially having gone to bed a bit earlier than usual.

We had a lovely time with DS and family yesterday and will see them all again, including DGD1 tomorrow as it is DH’s birthday. I had ordered a pheasant to have tomorrow but have cancelled it as we have so much Turkey and ham left. He is happy with a pie using both of them.

I’m off to see my dear friend having respite in the Care home. From messages received she seems to have had an ok festive time.

Hope all are not too exhausted after the festivities and enjoy our return to a more normal routine.

Good morning from chilly Somerset where I believe it is forecast to be sunny. But I shall be gone - hopefully mid to late morning- after a lovely few days.
We spent much of yesterday at West Bexington on Chesil Beach. . We had planned a walk along the beach, up through some fields to Labour-in-Vain farm and back to West Bexington for lunch. Wading through the shingle defeated me and GD’s knee was starting to bother her (little did we know of the Somme type mud and ginormous puddles still to come) so we baled out half way and struggled back to meet up for lunch.
A quiet afternoon/evening of Trivial Pursuit, picky bits and more champagne rounded off the day.
Looking forward to picking Rosie up, (a very beautiful fawn greyhound in the restaurant made me miss her!)
It sounds as if most of us are welcoming winding down after a busy time but I hope a time which will leave us with happy memories as we face the uncertainties of the New Year.

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it looks grey and cloudy again and it’s cold only 2°
ginny 💐
Hoping you get out today Jax for a change of scenery and some fresh air. Enjoy the shandy atm and you’ll still have the wine and espresso martinis to look forward to at one of your bbqs in the simmer!
After a very quiet lazy day yesterday we’re off out soon for a little walk to get a bit of exercise and a coffee somewhere that’s not too busy.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

md, I have over 100 pairs of earrings (yes, really!) and keep them all in a soup tureen which belonged to my gggrandparents. The earrings are kept separate in those teeny plastic bags. Perhaps sorting and bagging them could be a job for Dollie? Little girls love that sort of thing - well, mine do.

Good Morning from a cold but dry (so far!) Perthshire. Lovely sunrise, but clouding over now.

Good to be returning to "reality" although it was wonderful to have my nearest and dearest all together yesterday, including the dogs. Big hugs for those not so fortunate.

Debating whether the tree is staying up or not...... The DGC made such a lovely job of dressing it.

Jaxjacky Sat 27-Dec-25 09:34:22

Thanks brook I must hide them from my daughter!
Lovely pictures NannyJan.

brook2704 Sat 27-Dec-25 09:45:18

Oh georgesgran so sorry to hear about the DDs, I know that feeling of being stuck in the middle.
I don’t suppose there’s anything you can do, but I hope it can get resolved soon x

Morning everyone, It's bright and cold here in Somerset. Normally I'm happy with that but ... yesterday our heating broke down!! Called the breakdown service, then it came back on, so we cancelled. Now it's failed again so put in another call. They have promised to send an engineer today as we are classed as vulnerable. Meanwhile it's thermals, big jumpers and the very woolly socks which no. 1 son gave us for Christmas. Brrrrrr.

Georgesgran Sat 27-Dec-25 10:04:15

Thank you brook.
I just don’t know what to do.
X

Good morning from a bright and chilly Co Armagh, the rooftops are covered in thick white frost ! I thought it was snow at first !
We had a delightful Christmas here , when did my grandsons become such erudite a chatty young men ?. Last time we were all together they were silent bored teenagers !
It will be an indoor day here , I need to finish my crochet
Love to all x

Grammaretto Sat 27-Dec-25 10:08:14

I am often grateful for my real wood fire retrolady as well as my furry lined coat which I sometimes wear indoors. I've had 2 power cuts recently and I cool down very quickly. I hope your heating is fixed soon.
Thank goodness for your warm socks.

Jax, I hope you get out today🤞🏻

Ilovedogs22 Sat 27-Dec-25 10:34:05

Good morning from a cold & rather windy west midlands.
A quiet morning here, not a lot going -on at all really.
I think what I've been doing this morning is called "Fetteling."
up-north. I seem to remember that from when I used to go pony- trekking up there with my family. We used to stay near Hawes in a lovely little place named Gale, if my memory serves me right.
I have to say that the Yorkshire Dales are one of my favourite places but not the Moors! I find them bleak, harsh & intimidating, particularly when the mist rolls -in & it does actually roll-in & fast!
It's so very Wuthering Heights but no Heathcliff, only Mr Ilovedogs, thank goodness. 😶

GrannyIvy Sat 27-Dec-25 10:41:51

Good morning from Cambridgeshire I am a little late getting going today after a busy day yesterday with DD1 and DD2’s family being here. All went well but we are exhausted today and DH is still unwell with some viral chesty thing.

I have run out of foil and washing up liquid so will pop out shortly for supplies. Other than that we will have a lazy day with maybe baked potato and cold meats today for dinner.

Hopefully your girls will sort things out understand how you are feeling georgesgran. My DD1 is rather prickly at times and DD2 treads softly!

Thinking of those struggling and wish a peaceful day to all 🌺
