Back to my regular routine with a bus journey to Bicester , I plan to have a mid morning Breakfast in a cafe bar in the town as a treat, and hopefully see people I know as well.
Health OK,
Take Care,

Good morning to all from Lancashire. Cold and dry here but windy. I shall be putting out the bins soon as they are supposed to be emptied today. I wonder if everyone knows?

Good morning from a dry Bristol.
Although I really enjoyed Christmas Day with DD, family and in-laws, it was nice to be home.
I had a 90 minute “nap” as I had slept even more badly for the last 2 nights. Also all the different diet, events, etc., “overstimulated” me.
My day was quiet; I unpacked, put some washing on and so on. I watched “the Italian job”, but fell asleep during the Pottery showdown so went to bed. I can catch up today on the streaming service.
Church cleaning this morning - a lot of rubbish to be picked up + the stuff people left behind - hats, scarves, water bottles…
I hope things are going well for you all, especially our mountaineers, in particular the fgt family and md.

Good morning from calm and dry NE.
DD and SIL left at lunchtime yesterday, I spent the rest of the day on the settee watching TV.
I have been awake since 3.30 with stomach pains, I am wondering if my food choices have set off diverticulitis again.
I think I may have a duvet day, can't bear anything round my waist when I feel like this.
Have a good day.

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and cool all day

A good day yesterday, back to relative normal, considering it is winter. I only did an hour of skirt sewing but I am now ready to pin the pockets to the skirt and join back to front. The pockets were `messy` to assemble. Maybe another hour today and it will have to be first thing, my mojo has gone

I will be soaking 4 hand spun skeins of yarn, I would normally hang them outside to drip after I have thwacked each of them on the back of a garden chair. It is too cold today and I am not going to risk any felting so they can drip over my bath after the thwacking. I want to see the yarn bloom

Lots of movement while standing this morning, up and down stairs, no need to think about extra exercise. I made a soup yesterday, enough for three days. Lots of root veg and lentils, I needed to re-set my digestion after too many chocolates and rich food

I am looking forward to a rather nice day and will now go and make an enormous mug of tea in one of my lovely china mugs

Have a good day

Good morning from a chilly Wiltshire.

We had a lovely Christmas Day. Our journey to Earley went very well. Even though travelling East the very low sun at 10am was blinding but there was very little traffic. DD1 and her family were terrific hosts. Our 3 courses were spread out over several hours so we didn’t feel overfull all the time. A significant amount of fizz and wine were consumed. No TV or devices were out all day apart from photos. There was an elderly small dog pottering around which was very friendly belonging to SinL’s parents. It was so nice to spend time with GD1 who is home from Newcastle Uni and loving her time there. A lot more traffic yesterday travelling but no holdups and no sun as it was overcast. A quiet afternoon once back home.

Today we will have another Christmas dinner, starter and main but no pudding and gear up for tomorrow’s early evening dinner at DD2’s. She is hosting 16 tomorrow. As it’s local we have booked a people carrier taxi home as DD1 and her family will stay overnight with us. It will be lovely to see all 3 of my children together with their children and my sister and her DH. The youngest GCs will be too distracted to be naughty I expect.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from Malta where a cloudy day is forecast with a high of 17°C.

I’ve only just woken up. Since being unwell I have slept like a log!

Took the boys to the big park yesterday where they had fun riding their balance bikes as well as enjoying the swings etc.
It was lovely and sunny but the wind was cold so by lunchtime we’d all had enough and I was glad to return to my sofa.

Spent most of the rest of the day under the cat! He is so warm and cuddly. I dread him going back to my son and his gf.

Met my friend for a coffee yesterday which was nice but I haven’t any plans today. I will attempt to push the steam mop round but am still coughing a lot so will see how it goes.

Wishing you all a good day.🎄

glammagran Sat 27-Dec-25 06:49:13

This real flower arrangement was sent as a gift from a certain Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin. My SinL’s mother knows him well and DD1 has also met him a couple of times. Ironically I was a massive fan of them in my teens but not DD1’s type of music at all. It was too large for the dinner table however,

Grammaretto Sat 27-Dec-25 06:52:07

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's still pitch dark with an owl hooting. I've brought my tea back to bed.
I've had a lovely couple of days being fed and entertained by family and friends.
Now a gradual return to the daily routine.
I hope everyone has a good day.

Grandmabatty Sat 27-Dec-25 07:01:07

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and dry. Glammagran that's a beautiful flower arrangement and I'm very jealous! I like Led Zeppelin a lot.
Yesterday I drove ds home with all his stuff about lunchtime then had a long nap when I returned home. The rest of the day was spent doing nothing much. I ordered new slippers and jammies from Marks and Spencer.
Today I'm meeting my friend for breakfast at the local garden centre, our usual haunt. Then home to begin the washing which has accumulated and sort out the kitchen. As others, a slow return to daily life.

Good morning from N. Bucks.
Another great day with the family yesterday. The little ones kept us entertained and we all enjoyed their new toys !
I spent most of the night with my eyes closed but not actually asleep , all sorts of things buzzing around my head.
Anyway , today we have nothing planned and plenty of of leftovers to eat, so no real effort required. If it is not too cold we may pop out for some fresh air.
I will be calling my Sister in Law as it is a year today since my brother died.
Wishing all a good day.

RosesandLilac Sat 27-Dec-25 07:15:28

Good morning, another quiet day yesterday which I enjoyed spending with my crocheting at doing some art things. I follow a great lady called Alison Board, she’s doing daily sessions on drawing an illuminated letter so I.ve decided I am going to fill a little sketchbook with the whole alphabet. I have started to trace the letters and embellishments.
Her website is www.learningtopaint.co.uk/12-days-of-creativity if any of you fancy doing something different or seeing her work.
Today I will do more.
Life potters along here, DGCs will WhatsApp video later today, they want to show me their Lego creations 😍
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Kalu Sat 27-Dec-25 07:18:36

Good morning all. Dry, calm and more sunshine today in Glasgow.

More of a normal sleep last night, 6hrs. and I feel more awake this morning. Dinner last night was possibly only to my taste, an Aberdeen Angus beef burger which I sliced through the middle and filled with truffle cheese accompanied by roast parsnips and carrots. The dry weather also gives me a chance to spend time in the garden, not that I do much but it’s good to have the option of stepping out there, wrap up and have a coffee al fresco. Amongst other things I will fit in a walk today for fresh air and exercise.

Best wishes to all for a good day and a better one for those with difficult times whatever they may be.

Melanie61 Sat 27-Dec-25 07:21:27

It look like being a cold cloudy day in Sheffield, no rain though.

We had a long ramble around a National Trust property yesterday. It was a beautiful day but very muddy underfoot.

I slept like a log after all the extra exercise. I must try to up my exercise this year and also lose a couple of stones.
I keep talking about it but talking is not much good is it.
Working this morning and then another long walk this afternoon.

Take care everyone

Redcar Sat 27-Dec-25 07:24:02

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s dry and cold again. I had a lovely day yesterday, visiting friends with DD1 and her family. DD2 was also invited but had to go to a cousin of her OH instead. Back home for me today 😢, I shall miss the company and being looked after, but will be glad to be back in my warm house!
A slow return to normality this weekend, as it will be for some of us.
Have the best day you can everyone.

kittylester Sat 27-Dec-25 07:29:50

Good morning all from a very chilly, but dry, North Leicestershire.

Not a lot happening here today - not that much has happened for a while. DH's team are on the tv at lunchtime and we are having fish and chips for tea.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Aldom Sat 27-Dec-25 07:35:37

Good morning Mick and everyone.
It is -1 and dry here in Shropshire.
I have family arriving this morning from the Birmingham area. We're having the Free From soup I made a couple of weeks ago. Sandwiches, quiche etc. with it. The family will leave before dark. I'm hoping one of the younger people will be able to sort out a problem with my laptop. Fingers crossed.
Just had coffee and toast. I think I will have another coffee before I shower and dress.
My kindest thoughts are with you all especially those who are struggling with life"s challenges. flowers

madeleine45 Sat 27-Dec-25 07:35:50

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a very chilly but dry North Yorkshire. I have enjoyed a very good cup of coffee and am now just waiting for my Bach before 7 to begin. Ah how nice to return to our routines isnt it?. It is always part of the holiday routine, we look forward to going away, seeing family and new places or whatever, but it also makes us appreciate our own homes and routines where we feel if not masters of our own lives totally some semblence of it!

Yesterday was a gentle but pleasant day. I had a little ride around various areas of Co Durham, with absolutely nothing on the roads it allowed me to pootle along, go up some little roads and lanes, enjoy the lovely countryside and relax. We had a very enjoyable meal of lots of cold meat and potato salad and coleslaw and beetroot, that very traditional boxing day meal for us. Didnt even get round to eating the christmas pudding so it might be todays treat. I listened to much lovely music of course and later watched the second part of Call the Midwife which you always had to suspend belief but this time was even more disjointed and unbelievable than before but didnt really matter. But what a change! I cant believe that a christmas time has come and gone without the original Railway children or Humphrey Bogart either in the African Queen or in Casablanca . Where is Claude Reine getting his cut from the gambling now!! I was sorry that I hadnt watched a bit of The Italian Job, always liked watching the minis hurtling up and down the steps everywhere. Used to have minis myself ranging from the minivan to the quite posh mini estate I think it was called in bright red. We went to Roumania and Bulgaria in that and found ourselves being the centre of attention in many small villages etc and wondered why until we realized that we were seen as part of the Party being in the red car, with everyone eager to see what we had come for, but once they realized we were just foreigners shrugged their shoulders and went off on their own business, no doubt relieved that we had not descended for any problems for them. Shades of Lieutenant Kije.

Not sure of plans for today. Either a trip out perhaps to the coast avoiding all sales and traffic and get some fresh air and find an even surface along a promenade to try out my new buggy and gain some practise and confidence in using it, or making a start . I am in a more decisive mood today, and hopefully am in that mode where I can actually look at clothes books and whatever else and say, right havent used or worn that for x time so it is going. Well touch wood, not quite so creaky this morning so action of some sort might happen but aint holding my breath. Didnt manage to ring my brother yesterday so that is one thing I shall attempt to do today. Other than that it is that rather free day when usual routines are not yet back on, but have fulfilled holiday commitments .

Hope the breakfast treat with friends turns out well Mick. GrandMattie time to reclaim your church space with no officious ladies butting in and a chance to return it to the way you like to see it. Quite satisfying when it is all back to "your" normal isnt it. No doubt you will hear from others of troubles and strife and unsuitable christmas presents, and it will add to your pleasure remembering your own pleasant time with your family.Harrigran hope a return to your own food and timekeepings will improve your health and if you take it steady today be back to normal tomorrow , fingers crossed. Karmalady good to hear you sounding more like your usual self and hope you have a good day today. Glammagranny sounds as though you will have a full on day. Lovely for everyone in the family to be together for once. Hope you get a photo or two of the occasion. With people moving all over for their jobs etc there are not many occasions where you manage to get everyone there without one or two missing.Bellasnana lovely to hear you sounding more like yourself and hope you continue to improve. You will no doubt miss the cat hot water bottle, I still miss mine after some years. No pets allowed in the flats here, I can understand it to a certain extent but still miss that soothing presence on rubbish days, and much prefer stroking a cat as a stress remover to having blood pressure tablets!! Wonder if they need anyone as a standin for the baddy in a new Bond movie? I could offer to sit there with stroking a beautiful cat at no extra cost to them!

Well hope everyone has an easy day, recuperating from visitors or enjoying the pleasure of their own beds again. May the bargain hunters find what they want and may the rest of us avoid all the hustle and bustle, and find pleasure in the quiet countryside or coast.

Gagagran Sat 27-Dec-25 07:51:02

Good Morning everyone from a chilly south coast. I really dislike the cold as it makes my normal aches and pains just ratchet higher which, in turn, makes moving to warm up even more difficult.

DH doesn't mind the cold and yesterday got out in the garden to do some much needed cutting back of dead foliage. He will prune the roses in a few weeks and has got the art of shaping them to show off their lovely blooms. My job is to encourage and admire - from behind the double glazing!

Today he is going on a morning ride with his cycling club chums. They will have coffee and cake somewhere and be back for a late lunch - more leftovers!

Thinking of those of us struggling and hoping for some ease and peace for all.

Good morning from a chilly W Kent. Good day playing board and card games yesterday with DD2 and family later I managed to dish up for 7 a non traditional lasagne.
Today I need milk and eggs so will pop to the nearest supermarket, after that not sure what we are doing
Best wishes

Good morning from Durham. It’s still dark and I’ve been awake most of the night.
My DDs had an almighty fall out last night. Upcoming plans made on Tuesday for a cross country journey next month have been totally changed by DD1 leaving her sister deeply upset and annoyed. I don’t blame her, but of course I’m in the middle and don’t want to alienate either side. They had a similar fall out 13 years ago, again DD1’s doing and it took years to get back on an even keel, though never as close as they were. I’m at a loss.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from a clear and dry Northampton. Only me and DD up at the moment; she is nursing a cold, just hoping she doesn't pass it in my direction!

Had a lovely day yesterday with the family; how lovely it has been to be all together under one roof! DS went to collect my friend early afternoon. DD and DD-out-law prepared a lovely Boxing Day spread of the leftovers, and after we had demolished that we played silly games. The two DGDs joined in with everything and barely looked at their phones! My friend was collected by taxi at 9pm

Family will slowly get their things together this morning and wend their way home, and I will do a bit of tidying up, then catch up with the Christmas tv. Ham, egg and leftover jacket potato for dinner tonight!

Wishing all a peaceful and pleasant Saturday.

cornergran Sat 27-Dec-25 08:06:19

Morning Mick, morning All from a clear, chilly corner of Somerset.

Yesterday went more or less to plan. Our son drove us to meet other family for our walk together . The sea front was busy with families, lovely to see the little ones wobbling about on Christmas bikes and racing around on the beach.

We are much slower than the rest in the group, I was quietly amused to notice how one always walked with us while others went ahead. A new to us coffee stop was a real success, it will be on our list for the future. After the parting of the ways it was back here for a hastily assembled buffet for four - numbers had always been uncertain - before our son left for his home taking one daughter with him

It felt very empty once they had gone. We both loved having family under our roof for Christmas, the first time in many a year and because of their changing circumstances possibly the last.

Looking forward to an early-ish call from a friend, it will be another sea front walk and then home to do very little. We’ll wait and see what falls out of the fridge for our meals. There is much to be eaten!

Best wishes to everyone and a hope this Saturday is kind to us all

dragonfly46 Sat 27-Dec-25 08:06:25

Good morning from a dry Leicestershire.
The carer woke us up this morning! We have reduced the number from 4 a day to 1 as there is really not much they need to do. They are very good. I am looking forward to the physios starting.

We had a lovely Christmas, the family went home late yesterday afternoon leaving us the dog for a week.

My thoughts are with those who are struggling and sending best wishes to all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 27-Dec-25 08:10:00

Morning all from a frozen West Oxfordshire.

Jimmy Page! Wow. I love Led Zeppelin.

My granddaughter is being dropped off this morning. Elder son and his partner will then drive to Scotland where they will work on the house they have bought up there.

OH will take our daughter to the station after lunch.

We have a list of things to do with granddaughter. She is 9 years old and likes to be kept busy!

Have a good day everyone. I’m thinking of the FGT2S and hoping they had a good Christmas.
