I'm normally in bed for 9pm because I'm an early riser and start getting sleepy around 8pm. But tonight I'm trying to stay up till midnight. Not gone well so far, already spilt my wine over me when I dozed off lol. Thank goodness it was white wine and my sofa has a cover. I'm not really a drinker so it probably wasn't the best idea to have wine when trying to stay awake 🤣 At least I'm feeling pretty awake now. Happy New Year everyone, hope it's amazing for you x

Happy New Year to everyone. I'm still up watching BBC Alba, the music is braw.

Bliadhna Mhath Ùr. I wish I'd thought of tuning in to BBC Alba from here in deepest darkest England. Jools Holland (even with Lulu as a guest) just doesn't cut the mustard for me at Hogmanay. Oh for a return to the halcyon days of the White Heather Club (sobs into whisky...).

I've just got into bed. We've been to friends, five couples all in our 70s who have spent the last 25 years together on new years eve. We all contribute to the meal, have lots of laughs and enjoy each others company. Happy new year to all, may 2026 be a good year for us all.

Happy New Year to you all 🎉🍾
Been to our neighbours to welcome in the New Year and now just having a cup of tea, then bed time. 😊

Been to a small family gathering. I was driving so didn't have a drink except very dilute fizz at midnight.
Now I am wound up and not yet ready for bed!
Happy new Year and hope this is a good one for all of us.

I went to bed about 9.30, read for half an hour then turned the light off.

Woken by fireworks at midnight.

Lay in for a bit, but got up about 6.30.

Happy New Year all.

Wishing everyone a peaceful 2026.
I was asleep by midnight but woken by my poor cat a couple of minutes later. Poor boy was absolutely terrified by the volume of exploding fireworks. He curled up beside me on the bed, something he rarely does, preferring his own doughnut bed, and shook.
Luckily it was all over in twenty minutes and after a brief doze he resumed his usual business and I got back to sleep. The benefit of only having a single brain cell is that he has no memory of any of that.
