Good morning and a Happy New Year to everyone with thanks to Mick for helping us to start our days on such a pleasant note of community.

A lovely evening here in DD5’s last night, chatting and playing word games with 10 and 13 year old DGC. Word association game with autistic children can be priceless😂!

Not an easy day for you Redcar💐

We opened the door too to let the old year out and the new one in but that proved a step too far for ten year old so we quickly reverted to watching some television.

DD2 and family joining us for lunch, traditional steak pie etc so hopefully a nice afternoon.

I really admire your independent spirit and approach to life Madelaine, I hope you have a a great day, and what an admirable granddaughter you have Gingster, you must be very proud of her.

Wishing the very best for us all in this incoming year, and strength to cope with what we have to, xxx

Just came back on to read later posts and I forgot to say that for some reason yesterday I couldnt get through at all no matter how much I tried, just gobbldygook and nothing. Probably you had all heard enough from me! Sorry to read that you are still struggling Marydoll and hope you improve. These wretched delivery people who dont!! That is why I prefer to pick things up from the shop if possible. I think we should start billing these people for our time and the nuiscance of having to go round the neighbourhood hunting our own property. This to me defeats the point of having a delivery. And you cant trust them to be on time either. I absolutely hate waiting in for someone with no idea of when they are going to arrive. Totally understand difficulty with traffic etc but they could at least phone you and give you an update.

So, I am now in correct new years day mode, showered and clean with clean clothes on, about to watch a bit of New Years day from Vienna, and will no doubt be attempting my viennese walzt around the room and stamping up and down to tthe Rodetsky march as always, before getting ready to go up to my beloved swaledale. The sun has come out, a little breeze but very cold, so it will be mostly staying in the car, but will definitely get out for a bit of a walk around up there, with the binoculars out to look for any redstarts or curlews. Have just heard from my son and they will be going to the zoo with my grandson one of their new years traditions.

Have a good day everyone and let us all carry on our tradition of being there for each other in good and bad times and knowing that whatever comes or goes this year, someone on here will be able to cheer us on or commiserate and long may it last

Good morning and a Happy New Year to everyone!
Not as cold this morning as it was yesterday, no frost today. Slept till 9 am and only got up as a cat wanted attention and was sitting on my chest with her whiskers tickling my face!

Saw the New Year in last night, opened a bottle of fizz and enjoyed the fireworks on tv. Nothing much else on tv last night, so I watched a new production of 'Kiss Me Kate' on i-Player which I had missed in the afternoon.
Brought back memories as DS had the second male lead part in a school production of it in 1996 when he was 17!

No plans for today, shall be staying in, mainly reading, watching tv and maybe knitting. Have just hung up the new kitchen wall calendar with all significant dates marked, birthdays, cinema and theatre bookings and rugby matches. Not forgetting holiday dates!

Hoping that this New Year brings us much to be happy about, and very few things.of the opposite sort.

Happy New Year all- wishing you ‘all the best’. Stayed up to watch the New Year in with Jools Holland- saw that along with husband and big brother who’s staying with us. They went to bed shortly after the pipers but I then fell asleep in my chair-woke at 2.30- so feel a bit groggy this morning! x

Good morning everyone and a Happy New Year from sunny Lancashire.

MrB and I have enjoyed a walk down to the river. We’re both rather tired after a late night but I need to get outside and will make the most of it while I am able. Time for a snooze on the sofa now.

Sending positive vibes to our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.

New Year greetings to everyone and for so many hope 2026 will be a better year health wise. I am out to lunch shortly but have spent some time putting away paper so that I can start the year feeling efficient - probably a delusion, but nice while it lasts. Tomorrow the few decorations will come down, the crib figures returned to their box and I will be ready for whatever the new year brings.
