Morning from S Hants, heavy frost and now -6. Welcome to those joining this lovely thread from Mick to those first here.
My GP confirmed yesterday I still have a uti, sample went in a week ago, results delayed by NY holiday, it explains nighttime bathroom trips on a crutch. MrJ will be off to the pharmacy at 9.
A couple of phone calls yesterday and updating this weeks food delivery’s list, so frustrating when I can’t nose about in cupboards.
I hope brook had a smooth trip to Madeira and the sun is shining.

Good morning and no snow here in Essex but quite frosty.

Yesterday I met my friend for coffee , 2 stops along the line from here. She wasn’t very well and spent most of the time in the ladies. Poor love. We cut our meetup short and we’ll see each other again in a couple of weeks.

Today I have a pedicure booked and Bridge this afternoon. Lovely to get back to normal routines.

Take care and like Rosesandlilac get your YakTrax on . I’ve had some for years and only use them a couple of times each winter but they are ‘life savers’.

Good morning all from the Black country snowing at the moment but not heavily.
Just a local shop then back to ironing and maybe a little housework.
Take care out there, thoughts with FGTs.
Have the best day possible everyone ☀️

Good morning from Suffolk where we had a little more snow yesterday and there is no sign of any thaw.

I decided yesterday that it was too risky to drive to the local station to get the train to London to meet my old friend of more than 50 years for the day and we had a good chat on the phone last evening. We’ll probably leave our get together until hopefully better weather in spring and may be meet in Cambridge.

He lives in Worcester so it is a convenient place for both of us and we’ve met there before and have enjoyed a wander round the Botanical gardens,a punt on the river or a wander round one of the colleges( not all on the same day) but always a pub lunch.

Another day to hunker down and enjoy the peace and calm of home. Hope today is a good one for all.

Morning from Norfolk, according to the news I am only a few miles from the coldest place in the country overnight, Marham, -12 allegedly! Definitely a duvet day, I still have a couple of part baked baguettes if I can't get to the shops and plenty to eat in the freezer though the road looks clear outside.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 06-Jan-26 08:44:21

Good morning from Oxfordshire where it’s -4 and snowing, I’m off to MsOops at lunchtime to change her beds as she can’t do it anymore, I’ll stay the night and she will bring me home with the dog who will stay until Friday.
So Let’s hope the snow doesn’t lay, it’s very cloudy unlike the last couple of sunny days. Fingers crossed!
I’m getting over an Asthma problem, so haven’t been outside for a while.
Have a good day everyone and take care outside, it can be very slippy.

harrigran Tue 06-Jan-26 08:46:37

Good morning from the NE where the snow still remains.
Yesterday I was supposed to be going shopping with DD but it was too slippery underfoot. She bought me milk and bread and the new mobile phone I was wanting and brought them to me.
DD set up the phone, she had set up the same model for my sister a month ago except sister's had to be in German.
I am so pleased with the phone, just need a case for it, SIL found one online and hopefully will be able to bring it later in the week.
Too risky to leave the house so will get on with some housework.
Stay she and warm.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's not as cold as yesterday.
I have caught the first bus on my Highland adventure but only just! I kept packing and repacking, losing and then finding my ear buds, changing my boots.

I also love lime marmalade gMattie
DH couldn't eat grapefruit when on chemotherapy Grandmabatty . Shame because he loved them - especially the tinned sort.

Have a good day everyone. Stay safe and warm.

Good morning all. 1deg. in Glasgow this morning with a wintry mix of sleet/snow forecast.

I had thought of going out today but as tomorrow’s forecast is for a dry day, I will hunker down and stay put. Always plenty to do indoors if I feel like being industrious. I enjoyed my first attempt at candle making so I may make a lavender one with dried lavender through it later. I watched Tea With Mussolini again last night on YouTube. I noticed another film which is a favourite, Shining Through, a WW11 film which I recommend, could be my viewing this evening.

Sorry to hear you haven’t been too well Baubles. I hope it all settles soon.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Good Morning from a thawing Co Armagh, at least the patio seems to be clear ,
I’m hoping to walk to Mass for the Epiphany later , I might wimp out ! I’m not great on my feet at the best of times
Thinking of all our friends

Good morning all, from a chilly Glasgow.

I too love grapefruit, but one can't have graperfruit, if on BP medication. I suspect your marmalade is delicious GM.

Today, I need to go to the supermarket, haven't been since before New Year.
Yesterday. I received a call from the surgery summoning me to a medication review with the Chief Pharmacist this afternoon. Why?
I have already had two with GPs since the beginning of December, but my meds have been stopped again, so I have no choice. 😡
All I want is to stay in the warmth and feel sorry for myself. Thie cold air is affecting me badly and DH and I are having the usual disagreement about the heating.

I had hoped to get all my planned tasks done yesterday, but DH had lost a box of family photos from the conservatory, denying they were still up the loft. If I could have gone up to look, I would. I can hardly put one foot if front of the other.
Of course they were there all the time.

Then Babydoll arrived with her parents. She was in top form and our game of hiding seek was hilarious. We were all in plain sight (e.g covered in a throw or with a cushion in front of our face), but we had to go through the rigmarole of say if she was hot or cold, as she got nearer to us. 🤣
She had on a beautiful fur gilet , with pockets. As she was leaving we discovered an orange cream and mini Milky Way, purloined from the sweetie dish and secreted in her pockets.
According to her, they were for the journey home.

I hope Brook made it to the airport. I noticed trains were off in Edinburgh.

Best wishes to all, especially our poorlies, and safe travelling and walking!

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

Here in Appleby at 9:08 am, it's still S.N.O.W.I.N.G! WEEEEE!

Aldom, it's a beautiful photo, thanks!

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 06-Jan-26 09:24:17

Morning all from the winter wonderland which is West Oxfordshire! Beautiful but treacherous.

It is the WI coffee morning but I think I’ll give it a miss. My left big toe is still painful and swollen - I think I’ll be contacting the surgery tomorrow. Also, the pavement looks too slippy and if I drove there would be nowhere to park. So I’m staying in and will no doubt find things to do.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone from a still snowy Northampton, -2° outside. I should stir myself and join the walking group this afternoon, but am still getting the house back to rights after the decorations came down yesterday, and cannot rest until its done.
Although I am having a late start today as I dozed in a nice warm bed till gone 8.30.... I have some washing to do as well.

Only a small group of 6 at yoga yesterday, and that included a new joiner. A hot chocolate was enjoyed at the cafe afterwards.
Once home I made a vat of Bolognese in the slow cooker, enjoyed some last night and have five portions waiting to go in the freezer.
All decorations now packed away into their boxes and waiting to go into the garage. I have a pile of cards waiting to be cut up for gift tags for next Christmas.

Cleaning stuff needs to come out this morning as I want to damp-dust everywhere before getting everything back in its place.

Hopefully a bit of time to sit and finish my book club read this afternoon; Kindle tells me I am 84% through it. It has been a real page turner and looking forward to finding out who the killer is.....

Chicken, pineapple and ginger stir-fry for dinner tonight.

Take care today if out and about.

hollysteers Tue 06-Jan-26 10:07:49

Good morning from a cold and damp northwest coast.
Decs down and I didn’t go to the sing a round folk club last night, the heated throw won over.

Builder was due earlier but has phoned to say he will be here in about twenty minutes. I have a damp patch in the front spare bedroom and sitting room. Hope it’s not a big job. He’s recommended by my neighbour so that’s good and has done a job for me in the past.

Music club this afternoon but I feel like staying in and seems I’m not the only one.
Thoughts to FGT and all🌺

Blossoming Tue 06-Jan-26 10:10:42

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

No walk this morning, too much ice. I am going to use up some energy bed changing. We will go out this afternoon, weather permitting.

Sending love and positive energy to our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.

Litterpicker Tue 06-Jan-26 10:35:54

Drat - my post has disappeared. That’s never happened to me before. Ah well, I can try again tomorrow. Best wishes to all.

grandMattie Tue 06-Jan-26 11:22:56

llfl, could it be gout? I developed it about 4 years ago - it feels like an elephant has just got OFF your foot!

Ilovedogs22 Tue 06-Jan-26 11:26:27

Good morning from the west midlands.
A sharp, cold but beautiful day here. Once again I had to break the solid ice on the bird's water bowls & my little pond had properly frozen, for the first time this year.
I'm currently wearing my Fagin gloves in the house & scaring the Pet's, with my rendition of.... 🎵 If I was a rich man. 🎶
Best wishes & a happy, peaceful day to all. 😊

RosesandLilac Tue 06-Jan-26 13:56:27

What are you reading BlueSapphire? I could do with some recommendations.
Marzipan how lovely that your father was so talented, I don’t have anyone artistic in my family, unfortunately.
