I have never really spent a lot on my sheets, but now I feel as though I want to get some good quality ones
I have no idea what to go for and would appreciate some recommendations, thank you

Look at the thread count - the higher the better.

I always buy the highest thread count I can get and always white.

They last for years and years.

I like colours to match/tone with my duvet and for this time of year, brushed cotton.
Look at M&S or JL’s websites, loads to choose from and all excellent quality.

I absolutely adore my bamboo sheets. They are easily the most silky soft and comfortable sheets I've ever had. I got them from M&S and will never buy other than those again!

I love fitted sheets, so much easier to use when making up beds which I find tiring now.
Have a fitted brushed flannel sheet on right now and is so toasty for this season.

La Redoute and Secret Linen Store have a good selection, in a range of prices and quality, mainly in natural fibres.

M and S are fab - bamboo and cotton options, high thread counts, lots of choice colours etc.

They do a Polycotton option if you are on a tight budget, on a btw. Look out for the depth of the fitted sheets, those do vary according to need.

Real linen from the secret linen store. They are wonderful, bought mine some years ago. Absolutely divine, very easy care, they wash and dry quickly. Good all through the year

I only buy white pure cotton sheets. They can be boil washed and they last for years and feel so clean and soft after wearing in.

If I needed to I might give the bamboo sheets a try though!

I’ve been very disappointed with John Lewis cotton sheets, my favourites are 400tc Habitat sheets bought in Sainsbury’s. I line dry them and don’t iron.

I've only got one set of bamboo bedding as I have a legacy of long lasting M&S sheets and duvet covers. I dread having to change away from the bamboo ones even for as long as it takes for them to be washed and dried. Cotton ones just don't feel the same.

pure Egyptian cotton flat sheets for me. Dont like fitted way partner fidgets they dont stay on for long! love the cotton you can give it a good hot wash which I believe bed sheets should be

Charleygirl5 Wed 07-Jan-26 12:08:47

I like deep fitted white poly cotton sheets, which don't need to be ironed.

Shinamae Wed 07-Jan-26 12:11:17

Thank you all. I think I’m going to look at M&S..😁

Shinamae Wed 07-Jan-26 12:24:24

I’m thinking of these, what do you think??

Shinamae Wed 07-Jan-26 12:24:57

I did look at the bamboo, but a bit out of my price range

That looks great and sounds pretty impressive, plus is fitted which I love.

I wouldn't buy fitted sheets or percale either- but it is your choice and your bed!

NotSpaghetti Wed 07-Jan-26 13:03:38

I like a percale weave better than a sateen.
Satin weave structure wears more quickly. Though I do have both.
And I sleep "hot" so they suit me best.

Always a long staple cotton and high count.

All good suggestions. Double check your mattress depth . I bought a too deep depth fitted sheet which is too damn big and therefore too loose a fitting!

MS good as I can click and collect. Never bought JL bedding apart from mattress and pillow covers. Love the pillow protectors with a zip closure. So neat.

Brushed cotton I love love love for winter.

Shinamae Wed 07-Jan-26 13:30:00

Well, I have tried to buy those sheets from Dunelm and it’s impossible. I have put my card details in six times now and they are saying they can’t process my transaction so please try again.
I have also been on the phone waiting for 20 minutes so now they have lost a sale so I will have to keep looking 🙄

Yes ‘brushed cotton’ I said brushed flannel earlier but obvs meant brushed cotton. I only use these sheets in the winter.

Shinamae Wed 07-Jan-26 13:34:54

I’ve gone on M&S website and can’t see any sign of bamboo sheets or percale. 🙄

NotSpaghetti Wed 07-Jan-26 13:41:03

My last percale were from Dunelm - I think they are Dorma?

Yes, those are the ones I have eventually managed to order from Dunelm the ones above
I got so fed up with not been able to do the transaction that I got hold of my bank and there was some sort of problem with my card but they sorted it out but they didn’t tell me what it was so that was a bit annoying I might get onto them a bit later and find out. I think I’ve got a right to know.
