What is the most comfortable bra you have ever bought?

Just that really. I’ve just turned 70, and although I always used to dress really smart for work, comfort is my main priority now, as I suffer from very bad back pain, and seldom leave the house now. After a long (and quite expensive) search for comfortable trousers/tops to wear in the house, I finally came across M&S Modal rich pyjama tops and bottoms. They are great to wear as lounge wear, not just PJs? (Wouldn’t wear them outside though) but they actually (in my mind) don’t look like PJs, more like casual lounge wear.

My question is - I need a comfortable bra!! I’ve been wearing Sloggi comfort tops for a while now, but the last couple of bras that I’ve bought haven’t been up to their usual standard. My size hasn’t changed, usually a 36C, but they just don’t seem to fit as they did.

I’ve been looking online for an alternative, but haven’t been able to find one. It has to be non-padded, pull on (i.e. no hooks), giving enough support, and fairly thick straps. Does such a thing exist?

Please share your bra purchase experiences and tell me if you ever found the best fitting, most comfortable bra you ever had. I desperately need to find one! I have purchased many bras online, and have had to send them back (thank you Royal Mail for your pick up service) but I would appreciate any recommendations.

I would be prepared to pay a reasonable price for the perfect fitting comfort bra. I did look at Bravissimo, but their cup sizes are large - think they start at a size D cup?

Can anyone recommend their most comfortable bra?

Thank you.

You might be wise to get yourself professionally measured and fitted, our bodies change over the years and what suited some time ago might not be quite right now.

In my experience there is no such thing as a comfortable bra but if you’ve got more than a flat chest and don’t want spaniel ears when you’re older we need to wear one
I can’t tolerate wired bras and have found M and S wireless plunge bras about as good as it gets

I have a pacemaker which makes bra wearing potentially very uncomfortable. I wear a Chantelle soft skin, I don't know I'm wearing it!

Getting my arthritic hands around my back to fumble with hooks and eyes has lost its appeal. I have never liked the wiring in bras either.
I now wear bralettes which just slip over my head with no fastenings. Many High Street shops sell these.

Since my rotor cuff shoulder injury I have been unable to put my left hand behind my back so could not fasten a bra
Solved the problem by buying front fastening bras from the big river company.

"Gemma" and only £13.99, 90% cotton and so comfortable I shall never return to back fastening. Very soft but supportive and even my uncomfortable shoulder doesn't object.

I have yet to find one- sorry. The one I have prefer now I bought from Bravissimo several years ago but it is getting worn out. Due to losing a breast to cancer years ago it is even more difficult finding decent bras. I have no idea who designs them but they clearly don't have breasts- or even one breast!

Have you tried those vests with the built in bra? I get mine from Amazon and wear them all the time when I’m at home. They wash beautifully as well. I’m not hugely endowed, so they’re great for me, but my friend is, so she can’t wear them! I had a couple of great bras from M&S after I went to be fitted with them. Maybe try their fitting service.

I was in a M&S outlet store in the summer and came across a Body flexifit bra, it is non wired and the most comfortable bra I've ever worn. Loved it so much that I went to a regular branch of M&S and bought another. They are wonderfully comfortable and the straps are adjustable so you can cross them at the back if you want to.

After a life time of loyalty to M and S I have found recently that not withstanding the fact that I cant do any bra up without assistance (get off DH and just do me up) I have defected to John Lewis and their bras are so much more comfortable, a reasonable price and very pretty.

My bosoms ache when I take my bra off - is this normal? Mammogram next week anyway.

Wacoal, expensive but worth every penny.

Miss Mary of Sweden are good but as I rarely go out I've stopped wearing one.

I have found these bras on Temu. It is not a company I would normally use but haven't found them elsewhere. I am your size and 1XL is a good fit. They come with or without 'ventilation', and there are listings in several colours. I can honestly say they are the best comfort bra I have ever worn. I am post-lumpectomy and they are soft but the wings give good support.
The one problem is that they are so cheap that they don't meet the minimum order cost requirement of £15, so I bought several and a pair of gloves!

My needs have changed over the years. The most comfortable bra I have at the moment is this £10 bralette from M&S.

Ive never found a comfortable bra and they are making them with such horrible material now. M&S have done something with their sizing , so I now wear bra extenders with all bras as I have a very broad back. The Temu ones that someone posted look interesting as the other problem I have is they never seem to make shoulder straps wide enough to give good support. I'm too large for the vest things. I'm wearing a bra that's falling apart at the moment.

The key to a comfortable bra is wearing the correct size.

Go to a shop that specialises in bra’s, get fitted regularly. What size we were last year may not be what we are today.

Hand wash or use little individual laundry bags that go in the washing machine to keep them in shape.

The black Gemma with pink flowers is the best I find, all cotton too.😃

Why not put the bra around your midriff, fasten, then just turn to to the back, put arms through straps.

I was about to suggest that as it works great.

LauraNorderr Thu 08-Jan-26 17:07:37

Phew, I was beginning to think I was the only one in the world to fasten by bra at the front then spin it around.

BlueBelle Thu 08-Jan-26 17:19:04

Why do you all need to get your hands around your back to fasten your bra I never undo mine I just step into mine have for many years

Me too! I have never been able to do up my bra at the back, even as a teenager. Since injuring a shoulder I can't pull on over my head either.

I wear Conturve bras and find them very comfortable.

Are high quality, supportive, comfort bras.
High backs are comfortable and give good cover

Wash well and last well.

Find the size that suits - customer services are very helpful, reviews are positive

I have some and use them at home and for hospital scans to avoid undressing and struggling with bra hooks.

Gorgeous cheerful colours too

Another vote here for the big bloomers company, I have only recently found them and the bras are extremely comfortable. I have joint issues and the pull on style is an enormous help.
