Ashcombe Mon 12-Jan-26 05:22:20

Good morning from a windy Torbay.

Yet again, DH's cough has kept him awake and he has decamped to the recliner in the living room. I’m still coughing so we make a good pair! He has a dental check up this morning and my Move It or Lose It Class resumes, too. I’m hoping to catch a few more 💤's before we have to be up.

I trust everyone else is as well as possible and will have a good week.🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Grandmabatty Mon 12-Jan-26 05:26:43

Good morning Mick and all who follow. It's 8° and damp here in polmont but better mild than snow.
I managed to achieve quite a lot yesterday and did clear out my airing cupboard which is a model of neatness. Dd and the boys came round in the afternoon and had a chat. Dgs1 was keen to tell me all about his football tournament on Saturday while dgs2 played with lego.
Today is early childcare day and I've had a rotten night with a great deal of pain in my feet again. I have a diabetic eye check this morning after I've dropped off the boys. This afternoon I'll do some tidying in the school library before I pick up the boys again. I suspect I'll be having an early night. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Mon 12-Jan-26 05:27:48

Ashcombe you are in the wars! I hope you both get well soon. Don't overdo things

mum2three Mon 12-Jan-26 05:32:34

Good morning from Lancashire. I should imagine that, now all the ice has gone, many of us will get out and catch up on things. I'm sure the shop keepers will be hoping so!

grandMattie Mon 12-Jan-26 05:38:17

Good morning from Bristol. It’s milder but I haven’t looked out - probably damp after yesterday’s rain.
My poor Ash and batty, I hope your health problems sort themselves out soon.
Apart from (cold) church yesterday, very little has occurred in chateau Mattie.
I have started a knitted hat for the seafarer’s mission as I snack if I just sit and watch tv. My weight is not what I’d like; that’s now impossible, but I can try to lose the couple of pounds added over Christmas!
Tesco this morning and WI committee this evening.
May all your mountains become molehills. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Grandmabatty Mon 12-Jan-26 05:54:13

Thank you Mattie. Diabetic feet are so painful at times.

Bellasnana Mon 12-Jan-26 06:07:54

Good morning from a dark Malta where we are promised a fine day with a high of 16°C.

Yesterday I had an early visit from DD3 and the boys which scuppered my plan to go to Mass. It was lovely having them, although DD3 decamped to her old room and slept for a couple of hours whilst I had the company of the boys.

They left around 3pm, both in need of a nap, but it was a nice change to have company on a Sunday.

Today I have their little dog Milo as it’s the cleaning lady’s day and they like to have him out of the way. I will take him for a walk as it seems like a better day and the wind isn’t as strong.

So sorry you are suffering with painful feet Grandmabatty. I admire you for doing so much despite not getting a good sleep.💐

Ashcombe, sorry you are both still coughing. Get well soon.

My phase of good nights sleep seems to be over as I have not slept through the past couple of nights. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.😴

Hoping you all have as good a day as circumstances allow.🤗

Aldom Mon 12-Jan-26 06:25:02

Good morning Mick and everyone.
flowers for Ash and Batty.
Yesterday I was invited to my family's home for a meal. As there are no buses running on a Sunday I took a taxi. My son in law brought me back early evening.
The frozen snow has gone so today I shall definitely go to town. My daughter fell flat on her back in town a couple of days ago. I had intended to go to town the same day but due to the icy conditions I decided against it. Thankfully my daughter wasn't injured when she fell...... just embarrassed.
As always I'm thinking of all who are finding life difficult especially MD
and FGT. flowers

Good morning from Sheffield, it doesn’t feel quite as cold today.

It sleeted and rained the whole day yesterday. The drive back from Scarborough was difficult due to the spray on the roads.

There is nothing like your own bed is there!

This morning I am determined to go back to the prayer group I usually go to at my church.
I haven’t been since before Christmas due to work and being busy.
I have missed it. There’s only 6-8 of us, It’s such a friendly supportive group and it sets me up for the week.

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning from dark, damp, chilly N Bucks.
I’m not usually awake at what I consider silly o clock, but the solar panel electricians are due back at 8. They were unable to finish the job on Friday afternoon, because, surprise, there was no light (sun, or otherwise) at 5 on a January afternoon. Whoever scheduled them for a 3 pm visit needs to think in future!
The car is back - not fixed but drivable until it goes back in on Friday - as long as I don’t need to open my driver’s window! No multi storey car parks for me.
The opera, yesterday, I Puritani was wonderful, glorious music, fantastic singing if a slightly bonkers design in parts but still a spectacle 99% of the time (for the rest I just shut my eyes and sat back)
There’s been a lot about it on the media including Radio 3 so I fell asleep to it on Sounds at bedtime.
Wishing you all a pleasant day especially all who are poorly. (Have you and ODD done Covid tests,Ashcombe ? )

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a very dark but slightly warmer North Yorkshire. Woke coughing before 5am, but too early to get up and once I am up I crave my coffee of course. So went to the loo, put channel 9 on the tv and then got back into bed and turned my back on the tv. They have lovely bird song with no music or anything else on and occasionally I can be lulled back to sleep , but if not it is a lovely way to start the day anyway.

I spent most of yesterday decluttering and have a large bag of stuff to shove out ready for collection which I think is tomorrow , but after christmas not totally back to normal so will put it out early, so that I dont miss the collection. To say I have got rid of such a pile, there is some difference but not a great deal to show for for all my efforts.

Today I have the next smart phone lesson, and due to all the paperwork being everywhere I lost my sheets from the class and did not get round to finding it or doing any homework until last night. Smacked hands! Fortunately I have time to do a bit this morning and much of what was shown I did already know. Only hope people have settled down today and have more idea about what they need to do and what they need to learn, or Nichola will be reeling trying to answer 6 people at once ! Well hopefully if they have looked at the paperwork, lots of basic things are there to be checked on and there is a lot of good reassurance especially about how you can go back to the home page if you get in a muddle

It is probably going to be go in the car still as certainly cant manage to walk there today and yesterday, while there was little snow it had iced over and you were crunching over it, with absolutely no grit on the pavements as far as I could see. Still it will be good to get out at last, feeling rather stir crazy at the moment. It will hopefully get my brain working having people to talk to and also this morning I must check on my calendar, as have put a few things on it, but in the root around in paperwork there are some longer term appointments that need to go on while I remember them

Sods law means that of course if there is only one day in a month that you have an appointment, the very next letter you get has another one on the same day and time. Other than a bank review of my account etc I cant think of any other appointment for this month. That makes me suspicious, more likely to be my memory not putting something down at the time , cant believe I can manage to get through a whole month without something having to be attended to. I keep having to remind myself that the days are getting lighter, as there seems to be no sign of it so far and just longing to be able to at least look at a garden or two. I do have 2 snowdrops out in a pot, so that is something, but need perfume and flowers to cheer my day. I will have a look when I finish the class and hope that there might be a bowl of hyacinths in the cheap rack somewhere to rescue and bring some cheer to my home.

Mick hope your trip into Bicester goes well and you meet up with some friends. Ashcombe you have my sympathies as I am still coughing myself and it does really floor you and you cant do anything until you catch your breath can you? A good job you did not go out on that bad day Aldom. Glad you had a safe journey home Melanie, hope you get to your prayer meeting.

Well time I started checking on any shopping needed and checking over my phone and making sure it is fully charged for the mornings effort. Hope everyone has a good day and is able to return to something like the old routine after all the holiday exertions. Have a safe and productive day

BlueSapphire Mon 12-Jan-26 07:09:52

Good morning everyone from another dull and damp Northampton morning.. Up earlier as it's yoga first thing, mug of tea, and a cat on my lap for her usual morning cuddle.

Nothing much on my to do list today, a bit of general tidying and a couple of things to wash up from last night. I may also do a load of washing. Reading and knitting this afternoon.

Very much enjoyed the film Hamnet yesterday, although I found some parts of the dialogue difficult to follow; could be my hearing, but some speech seemed rushed and mumbled.

Wishing all a pleasant day and relief from coughing for Ash and her DH.

BlueSapphire Mon 12-Jan-26 07:12:32

RosiesMawagain glad you enjoyed the opera while I was next door watching Hamnet!

cornergran Mon 12-Jan-26 07:16:09

Morning Mick, morning All from a less cold, damp corner of Somerset.

Yesterday was spent catching up, slowly, with the admin I had hoped to do on Saturday. I’d not win a race with a tortoise at the moment. Off out after breakfast. Mr C has a date with the hygienist before the car has a date with the garage for a service and MoT. Always raises anxiety in me until the car has passed his exam.

You two are in the wars ashcombe, being kept awake at night by pain is foul grandmab.

Wishing all with health struggles a better day, hope Monday is kind to us all.

Greyduster Mon 12-Jan-26 07:20:09

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark but will be mostly dry. It’s currently 8 degrees out.

Yesterday DD asked if they could call over for an hour, so I invited them to have lunch. GS put the Christmas decorations back into the loft for me and when he was putting the ladder away, he pushed it back so far that it jammed and wouldn’t come down again. No amount of fiddling about would move it so I shall now have to find someone to come in and sort it out. Bless him, he is ever helpful, but…..🙄!

Gym for me today - I’m getting very lax about going recently.

Have the best day you can folks.

karmalady Mon 12-Jan-26 07:22:39

Good morning from s somerset, should be decent weather today

A full healing sleep last night at last and I was very comfortable in my newly arranged bed. I am hoping the groggy sensation this morning goes away soon.

Hair cut in a couple of hours and I will extend the walk back home to blow the cobwebs away. Just pottering after that but I need to make an order for wool for 2 more sleeve-less tops, for AC birthdays this time

Have a good day

harrigran Mon 12-Jan-26 07:25:01

Good morning from a milder NE, already about 7°.
Yesterday was a lazy day, caught up with some recorded TV programmes.
The weather was horrible, heavy rain and strong wind so I was happy to stay put.
Sorry to hear of those suffering the latest virus, DD and SIL have had the cough since early December.
Have the best day you can.

Susan56 Mon 12-Jan-26 07:35:43

Good morning from Shropshire. The rain has washed away most of the snow.More rain forecast for today.

I always like my house to be neat and tidy but when stressed go into overdrive so yesterday I was like a whirlwind. All housework done and everything apart from what we were wearing washed. We will go to visit mum this afternoon. My brother didn’t give a very useful update apart from she is skin and bone.We had planned to visit this morning but the GP is visiting this afternoon so will have lunch out and then go.

Grandmabatty I hope your eye check up goes well.It is the diabetic check that worries me most.I am sorry your feet are so painful as well.Diabetes - the gift that keeps on giving🙄😢Take care.x

Ash, hope you and olddudders are soon on the mend.

Thinking of all our mountaineers🙏🏻

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Good morning all from a dry and mild Black country all signs of snow have disappeared.
I did slip over yesterday but managed to get up quick and no damage done.

Take care everyone have the best day you can ☀️

luluaugust Mon 12-Jan-26 07:42:29

Good morning from a grey Kent. Hopefully my cleaner is well and can come this morning. Later a walk is a must, far too much sitting around.
Hope coughs, colds and other problems start to get better
Best wishes

GrannyGravy13 Mon 12-Jan-26 07:44:00

It’s 9° and cloudy here in S E Essex.

The Panto yesterday was Sleeping Beauty, the plot, dancing, singing however showed little linking with the story. The costumes were stunning, particularly Julian Clary’s.

A day with friends has certainly helped my mood, a mooch round Carnaby St, Liberty’s along with a pre-dinner vino with my bestie before catching up with the others at the restaurant 👍🏻

Off to the gym first thing and then see how the day rolls out.

Hope you are both feeling better soon Ashcombe Grandmabatty wishing you a pain free day.

Thinking of all who are not posting due to illness and worries (((hugs)))

Redcar Mon 12-Jan-26 07:44:37

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dark and cloudy out but didn’t feel as cold when I brought the milk in from the doorstep. A cloudy breezy day is forecast and much milder. If I can get myself going I’ll drive to the garden centre this morning.
Yesterday I had a walk, and DD1 and her family visited in the afternoon. My son in law put the Christmas tree and decorations into the loft and the back bedroom looks tidier now. I need to find homes for some of the stuff I brought back from my godmother’s bungalow, I’ll need to consider whether I want to keep some of it!
ash I hope that you and your DH feel better soon, these winter coughs are so hard to shake off.
Thinking of those with problems and anxieties today and hope the day brings some relief for you.
Have a pleasant Monday everyone!

Grammaretto Mon 12-Jan-26 07:47:43

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where the snow has melted.

I'm up and ready for OpenReach to fit fast fibre broadband anytime between 8 and 1pm.
I suspect once they see the house they'll disappear.

This afternoon my new tenants are moving into the granny annex. I had considered moving in there myself as it's the only warm part of the house.

Yesterday I bussed to the retail park and picked up printing ink and new cushions for the flat.

The opera sounds wonderful Rosiesmaw what a treat.

I'm sorry you are coughing. Ash. It's so tiring. Have you been to the doctor?

Hoping everyone has a pleasant day.

ginny Mon 12-Jan-26 07:48:18

Good morning, it is milder but dull and rain expected later here in N. Bucks .
A lovely catch up with DD2 yesterday morning and then an unexpected visit from DD3 and youngest DGS who wanted to tell us all about his visit to ‘Hot Wheels. His brother and Daddy were watching the rugby.
DH has just taken my car down the road for its MOT and service . I hope all is well as I am off to see the film Hamnet this evening with a friend and he needs his car to go in the opposite direction direction.
Cupboard tidying and some craft work otherwise for me today.
Wishing all a good day.
