Good Morning everyone from a much milder south coast. The forecast is for sunshine and light showers which is not bad for January. I would be very happy with that weather through until spring!

Got a few ticks on the to do list yesterday but, the list never ends and today I have ironing and I need to move Christmas sparkly jumpers and tops from the in-use wardrobe to the overspill one. Maybe could put some things in the charity bag at the same time.

Sorry to hear you are both unwell Ash - hope you start to feel better soon. Batty I have two older siblings with diabetes and know how difficult feet can be with this disease. My brother had to lose his big toe because of it. Hope you manage to get some ease.

Sending positive vibes and kind thoughts to all in pain, sadness or struggling. As my Mum used to say, there's always something for somebody. This too shall pass.

Good morning from wet and windy South Lanarkshire.

The weather was foul yesterday, I’m so glad to see the back of the icy pavements though.

That sounds miserable Grandmabatty.

Our yarn group meet up the other day was fun, lots of laughter and chat. We have a few ideas for projects for this year now.

Yesterday was quiet but we had an impromptu invitation to a neighbour’s in the evening where we enjoyed their company and DH & the other husband enjoyed a few drams.

Today was supposed to be our first lunch of the year with DH’s siblings but one of his sisters is indisposed so as it has been postponed I now have a free day.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning from a wet hillside in south Glos, it’s piddling down here but I’ve had 10 hours of sleep so I’m good!
I don’t understand why some nights are great but others I scarcely get 3 or 4 hours sleep.
Yesterday I did start tackling my wardrobes but didn’t get very far so I must do better today.
I don’t have anything much going on this week so no excuses for not doing housework etc too!
Wishing you all a peaceful day 🌹

Good morning all and it’s damp but milder here in Essex.

Yesterday we had a lovely roast at DS1’s followed by apple and berry crumble. Always nicer when it’s made for you.
I had a long chat to both the girls and caught up with what’s going on in their lives. Lovely, engaging young ladies. ❤️.

Today I have Chimes. The first since before Christmas so it should be fun with some hilarity thrown in. We’ll be meeting at another’s house , as teachers Dh is in hospital.

Lots of poorlies on here and everywhere else, it seems. Take care and wish you well. 🙏

Good morning from 8 degrees Cambridgeshire. Starting again as my first post disappeared.

I have admin to catch up on this morning and then hopefully DH and I will do a walk.

The pictures are of my winter garden. The pyracantha and mahonias look lovely together and I have lots of hellebores flowering and bulbs peaking up now. The cold icy weather has taken its toll so will need to get out and tidy around this week.

Thinking of those unwell, not posting at mo and hoping everyone will have the best day possible 🌺

Good morning all from a warmer but soggy North Leicestershire.

I'm still not going anywhere but am pottering more and more. We had a nice visit from DS2 yesterday evening - he lives closest to us and I think he was nominated to check on us. 🤣🤣

Today is the 90th birthday of one of my lovely friends. She is a real example to us all. She is sociable, trendy and still drives her sports car - mostly with the roof down. She also only has 1 kidney.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Morning from a dry, windy S Hants.
Oh dear Ashcombe nothing worse than a tickly cough, I do hope it passes soon.
Your poor feet Grandmabatty, how frustratingly for you.
It rained yesterday and is much milder, I'm hoping for signs of spring from my kitchen window, daughter and grandchildren called in on their way back from shopping.
Today I have phone calls to make and exercises to do, our heating has an air lock, rads have been bled and boiler re pressurised, but it’s still there.

Good morning all from very wet Glasgow, where it is 10°

I had a dreadfully painful night last night, interspersed with vivid and unsettling dreams. One dream involed DH dressed as Santa Claus!!!

Yesterday, despite feeling lousy and resorting to taking anti-nausea medication, I filled a bag for the charity shop. How many scarves does a girl need?????? I used to run amok, buying them in Rome, where they cost only a few Euros. Some were over twenty years old. However, they needed to go!

My only plan today is go down to church and check for water ingress. As a result of yesterday's torrential rain, water was pouring through the roof of the church. My young sacristan friend alerted me, but I was not well enough to go and help.
A bit of tidying up of the website is required. I have taught myself a new skill and want to try it out.
The Restoration fundraising news page also needs updated. Since June, we have raised £19,641. 59. Not bad for a committee of only eight people.

I received an email from a parishioner yesterday, advising there was a 404 error showing on the website. He suggested that I find a young person to help me fix it. He got short shrift.
I may be old and unwell, but I am not stupid.🤣

I wish you the best day possible, especially all those facing challenges and hardship.

Take care if you are out and about. Two of our parishioners have had falls, one breaking a wrist and the other her shoulder. 😞

Good morning from the Essex coast, where it is dry and less cold.
I'm still feeling very unwell and am waiting for a call back from the surgery to make a doctor's appointment.
I've had a very lazy weekend as I've not really felt like doing much.
I wish you all a pleasant day and hope that anyone unwell like me feels better soon xx

Way to go, md,👏👏👏
madeleine, the only way I remember dates etc., is to immediately pit the in my iPhone or iPad, they talk to each other so I don’t have to duplicate the entries. Good luck with class.

Good morning from a dry looking Suffolk after a day of rain yesterday from the afternoon onwards. I hope that chilly wind doesn’t return.

The cold that seems to be around is a nasty and long lasting one. A couple of my close friends have had it since Christmas and are still suffering and not socialising. I have a low grade one which seems to be affecting my sense of taste and smell but without the usual symptoms.

I hope those suffering get well soon.

Off with DH for a walk with the little dog soon and then a day of more sorting out the clutter in the smaller spare bedroom, now known as the dumping ground.

Hope today is the best for all it can be.

Ashcombe Mon 12-Jan-26 08:37:23

Thank you for all your kind, good wishes. No, we haven’t tested for Covid, RosiesMawagain, as this was not considered likely by the medics whom DH saw at the hospital last week.

GrannySomerset Mon 12-Jan-26 09:14:49

Much warmer, hurrah, though grey skies and generally dampish after heavy rain in the night. Dental check this morning, gardener this afternoon when we will discuss treating the fences while there isn’t much he can do in the garden itself.. I try to find work for him in the winter which he appreciates because, after all, he needs to eat all year round.

January always feels a very long month and this year is no different, but on a sunny day the extra daylight is noticeable.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. Have been up and about for two hours but somehow now rushing to get ready for DD4 collecting me to go to an audiology appointment in a difficult to get to hospital. New little dog will accompany us and will enjoy a walk while I’m being seen.we’ll try a visit to a coffee shop on our way home and see how that goes🤞😊

Sorry to hear about your painful feet during the night Grandmabatty, that sounds horrible.

Hope everyone has the best day possible, special thoughts to those who need them.

A late morning all from West Oxfordshire. It feels quite mild - no frost or snow.

Usual Waitrose trip while our cleaner cleans.

After lunch my over the road neighbour is having her first monthly Craft Group of the year. Should be fun. We will be showing off the pottery we glazed at our Christmas do last month.

Commiserations to all of you with difficulties.

Good morning from Durham where we have grey skies but much milder temperatures. That snow has well and truly gone thank goodness as tomorrow we need to travel to Fife for a funeral.
Today we shall take things easy once again. Our recovery journey from this awful sneezing and coughing continues. Over a week now since it all started. It's ran through the whole family like wildfire since our New Year gathering.
Knitting, some sewing, plus more reading (Precipice by Richard Harris). A gentle day before school pick up later.
Managed to sort out our new booking with NYM Railway in Spring. Online booking went crazy yesterday providing us with seats and meals for the grand total of £0. Too good to be true but all sorted now. A replacement Christmas treat for Mr A after we failed to escape from Egton in a snowstorm. They had been kind enough to refund part of the cost at very short notice so thought we would try again.
Wishing all a good day.

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Shoulder and neck really painful nut managed to get out with friend to the fortnightly open mic. We were late, so not a seat to be had. Some good music, but I’m feeling the effects of a few wines today as I don’t really drink these days.

Then cramp in bed in my left foot, often brought on by alcohol.
Today with DD and DS to visit a new prospective financial advisor, fifty miles away, recommended by an old friend.
I’ll need to take paracetamol for ye olde neck…

Thoughts to FGTs and all with worries 🌺

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

I wasn’t feeling too well this morning so MrB took me to Lytham. We haven’t been for a week or two and he thought it would cheer me up. He was right! It was wild, wet and windy with occasional sunshine. We had a walk along the prom and I feel so refreshed now. I think a lazy afternoon reading is the plan now.

Sending positive vibes to our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.
