Good morning from N.Bucks where it is damp after yesterday’s rain but not too cold.
DD2s eye problem was sorted yesterday ,although it is still painful, she has 8 weeks worth of drops to use and a return to the eye clinic in 4 weeks. We saw DGS1 yesterday who had lots of news to tell us but wants it to stay under wraps for the moment.
A local food shop today and then a cake to make, some badges to sew on DGS cub uniform and some sketching to do for a challenge.
Thinking of GNs who are under par or troubled and wishing all a good day either a smile along the way.

Good morning from a dark dry Cambridgeshire. Today is Dgs2’s 7th birthday We are popping over shortly to take his presents. I will then take Dgd2 to dance class and sit down there in the cafe all morning in case she needs me between classes. There will be lots of dance mum chat which I will enjoy. Not much else planned today but hopefully a chat with DD1 later.

Come back GM Another who is missing reading your posts. There are other regulars missing too and hoping all is well.

Grandmabatty thank you for making me smile 😂😂

Brrok enjoy Cambridge and your family.

Happy Saturday to all. Have the best day possible

Still chuckling Grandmabatty - wondered if it was a new treatment for your poor feet!

Good Morning everyone now I've stopped laughing, from a dark and damp south coast. No frost and milder though so mustn't complain.

DH is out with his cycling chums this morning for a coffee and cake ride but will be back for lunch. I have a clear day so far but need to catch up with some desk work. I enjoy quiet days on my own with freedom to potter.

I answered a quiz on YouTube yesterday and found out that I am an introvert despite the face I put on for public consumption. It answered a lot of questions for me and one was why I like solitude so much.

Grand Mattie please come back - you are much missed and many of us who have known you for a long time appreciate and value you a great deal. Your kindness and generosity as well as your skill at so many things, are a beacon of light amongst all the troubles we share in this lovely thread.

Kindest wishes to all struggling - including Soop in her kitchen.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s getting light. It’s a mild 8 degrees out and looks dry at the moment.
grandmabatty I had to giggle at your special delivery! Predictive text can be quite funny at times.
Yesterday was a lovely sunny day and I had my usual walk and met up with some dog walking friends for a chat. I had a look around my garden and was pleased to see a few daffodils poking through the weeds. All the tubs have crocuses and daffodils coming up, so should be colourful soon.
marzipan thank you for the photo of the huge tree being cut up. So many large trees lost to the storm, the landscape in some places will look very different.

gingster I hope the A12 is clear today and you have a good journey to your cottage. A difficult time for you with lots of decisions to be made. I hope your DSs will be able to provide some support for you and your DH.

I hope that grandmattie will be back soon.
marydoll I would love to have been on the bus with you and babydoll!

Thinking of those who are struggling at the moment and that life will be kinder to you today.

Have as good a Saturday as is possible folks.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 17-Jan-26 08:01:36

Good morning from S E Essex, hooray it’s stopped raining!

Inedible to pop out for some milk and butter first thing. Then I have badges to sew on for The Imp, and a quick mend of one of my coats (I am not a seamstress, my sewing is rather hit and miss 🤦‍♀️)

Oh Gingster I will be thinking of you, I bet there will be some tears.

Sar53 I hope you are feeling better.

Thinking of our morning friends with illness and worries 🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone from a still dark and damp Northampton, but no need to go out today. Up earlier than usual for me on a Saturday as a large parcel is being collected - the cat carrier that was too small. Apparently Royal Mail will collect between 8.20 and 10.20. After that I have no plans for the rest of the day - apart from contacting family to arrange a lift to the vets with the cats.

Yesterday was back to dance classes, hoping to lose the 2/3 pounds I put on over Christmas! It was good to see everyone again.
Afterwards I got the bus to the shops, had a much needed coffee in Costa, and did a small shop of essentials for the weekend.

Wishing all a pleasant Saturday.

Good morning from a damp northwest coast.
Sleepless night listening to the radio waiting to drop off…
The painful neck not helping. I probably did sleep a little, but it doesn’t feel like it.

I enjoyed the art session yesterday, using white ink on black paper, which is very effective. After the art meeting, I met a friend from the music club for lunch and we talked for nearly four hours. Plenty to discuss with the various characters in the club. The cafe was freezing as the owner wanted the door open to invite customers in. The cafe is inside an arcade, but still..When we meet up again it will be a different venue, unless it’s summer. A long FaceTime with my sister in the south in the evening.

My plans for today are a bit skewed as I need some extra sleep.
Thoughts to all🌺

Reading about karmalady's passport renewal reminded me that my GHIC card needed renewing, which I did easily on the NHS website. It's an essential for any European holiday, but of course does not replace travel insurance.

Sar53 Sat 17-Jan-26 08:11:33

Good morning from DD2's house in Kent where i am spending a long weekend.
I am feeling so much better, the cough is almost gone. Thank goodness for antibiotics.
I'm not sure of any plans today but there will be something going on.
DD2 and I will take DGD5 out somewhere.
I hope today goes well for you Gingster, safe journey.
I too hope to see GM back soon.
Have the best day you can everyone, best wishes to all xx

Good morning after a day of constant visitors and deliveries yesterday today is one of peace.
It is the carers last day as DH is now fit enough to cope himself and the physio got him up five stairs and back yesterday. We now have to ensure we keep it up.

I feel your pain from your post Gingster I hope it goes as well as it can do.
Please keep posting GM I am in awe of everything you do especially for others.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning from a damp dull looking Suffolk. I was hoping that there would be a sunny welcome for Gingster at her holiday cottage but don’t think there will be.

Because of the extensive works ongoing for the next 10 or possibly 12 years, travelling on the A12 is now much more time consuming than ever with speed restrictions of 30mph on huge stretches of it and very heavy lorries. When I go to Ipswich in a few days for lunch with 2 friends, I’ll take the train.

Today is a home based one with our Waitrose delivery mid afternoon. DH and I were thinking we might do to the beach for the morning dog walk with coffee afterwards in a favourite cafe there but may just stay here.

About to enjoy another cuppa and read your posts which I only briefly skimmed through before adding mine.

Hope all have a good day.

Marydoll Sat 17-Jan-26 08:16:36

Good morning all.

However, I wanted to acknowledge the very kind PMs I have received from a number of posters, who agree with everything I said.
That support meant a lot, when I am still fragile healthwise and finding life difficult.

Karma, I also wanted to thank you for your post yesterday.

To make it clear, this is not a flounce, I don't really want to engage at the moment and my proposed absence is not intended to make posters beg me to keep posting.

However, the passive agressive posts from some posters, in the last few days, have upset me, they were absolutely unnecessary and unkind and totally uninformed about health and safety, when catering for the public.
So much for ^the spirit of

I wish you all a pleasant Saturday.

Good morning all from the Black country.
Yesterday was the first day in over a fortnight with no rain even the sun showed its face in the afternoon.
We are out with friends this evening our first evening out this year, it will be good to catch up we usually see each other at least once a week and have done for over 50yrs.
Thank for the first laugh of the day Grandmabatty.
Well Saturday full English calling so will be back later to catch up.
Have the best day you can everyone and safe travels those on the move ☀️.

Morning from a dry S Hants, I’m sleeping so much better now the UTI has gone.
A tricky day for you Gingster 💐
Oh Grandmabatty that made me smile!
Tesco came yesterday, so the fridge is full, MrJ bunged the Hoover round and waved a duster.
I had a long chat with my daughter early evening, she has such a busy life, I suppose we all did at that age.
I might venture out today if it stays dry, under supervision of course!

Good morning from Durham.
At long last we both seem to be on the mend after our first case of cold/flu for the last few years. We have been fortunate in the past, but this current vaccination hasn't protected us.
I'll try some gentle exercise today in an attempt to get back into routine. I feel like most things have been on hold since New Year.
GS4 will be spending early evening with us so we may take him out for dinner. It will be a welcome change for us all to be surrounded by, "people" again. At the funeral earlier in the week it was only right to keep a polite distance.
Wishing all the best day possible.

Good morning from a grey and dry NE at present.
No visitors today as the family are going to the pantomime, I didn't realise they continued this far into January.
Yesterday I tidied my spice cupboard and threw out some out of date herbs, looks much neater now.
Quiet day today with some TV and crosswords.
Thinking of grandMattie who bends over backwards for everyone 💐

Grammaretto Sat 17-Jan-26 09:16:21

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Raining again.
I slept in so had best be quick.

Thanks for the smile 😁😄 GMB or spot the deliberate mistake?

My DS is a delivery driver for the said company so you never know.....

If if we lose our beloved posters the rest of us may go on strike.

Please come back.
I had a fun afternoon at the skittle ally yesterday with U3A and I cooked supper for a friend in the evening. We sat round the fire, downed a bottle of wine and put the world to rights.
He was moaning about the cost of phone calls and as if to prove a point I called my DS in NZ for no extra cost.

Hope there are no typos.

All the best to everyone here or who's reading.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 17-Jan-26 09:31:39

I have just re read the last couple of days posts on Good Morning and I must be dim, but I can't see any passive aggressive or divisive comments regarding allergies and baking for public consumption.

Just lots of helpful advice as to be expected from GNs with plenty of experience of how restaurants and non commercial "cafes" cope regarding allergies.

As always a lot can be learned from threads about things which don't necessarily affect one directly, but could do in the future.

I hope the missing posters can take a short breather and then slip back in quietly. It would help if no fuss is made at that stage by other GNs. Onwards.

Love to MD and GM. Both wonderful ladies who do so much for others. Hope you are both back posting soon. 💕

A late, but none the less sincere Good Morning Mick and everyone.
It's a dry, bright day here in Shropshire.
I had a relaxing morning yesterday with one of my oldest friends.
Cooking and washing on the agenda today.
My granddaughter has fallen and hurt her arm. She's going to A&E this morning.
My thoughts are with all who are ill, sad, worried or finding life difficult for other reasons. flowers
