Good morning from Kent where is is five degrees and forecast to be cloudy all day.
The coffee, cake and then beer stop sounds a very pleasant Saturday Mick.

After yesterday's gym visit was a bit less tiring than the previous one a few days ago I've decided to go to Pilates class today. I had a long gap over Christmas when I didn't do any exercise other than walking. Managed to gain three pounds and I hate how it makes me feel sluggish so I need to make a much better effort with exercise and diet.
Sending best wishes to all for a happy Saturday.

Good morning from s somerset, sun and showers today

It was a busy day yesterday, started by batch cooking for 8 ready meals. I used meat from the freezer, swede etc and my pressure cooker, it cooked in 20 minutes in my older pressure cooker, not one of these modern ones that can do the fandango. Washing done, put out and taken in after two hours as the skies darkened

At least I finished every last inch of my spun yarn, I will need to sew up the gloves but only one seam each

My old passport has been received by the passport office, speedy so far and they e mailed me. I can sit back and wait now

Today might mean an allotment visit, depending on the shower potential, the ground is already sodden and I don`t like cleaning muddy boots. Bits and bobs today, whatever unfolds. Oh drat, rain has started hammering against the window. I will try and get going on my unfinished skirt instead.

Have a good day

Good morning everyone from a wet spot in south Glos, another soggy dog walk today.
I went to art group yesterday, a very pleasant morning enjoying the chat and coffee with a bit of drawing in between 😊
Not a lot else done so today I need to catch up with housework, laundry and there’s a grocery delivery midday so I’ll need to sort out the fridge too.
I made a pear and banana loaf a couple of days ago, it’s rather delicious and a good way of using up fruit that’s gone over, I prefer eating fruit when it’s barely ripe, I hate it when it’s not crisp.
DH bought a small tray of tangerines from Lidl yesterday, they’re absolutely delicious at this time of year so I’ll be enjoying those for a few days 😋
Not a lot else happening here so I hope your weekend is peaceful too 🌹

Good morning from Malta where a fine day is forecast with a high of 17°C.

There was a very noisy thunderstorm which woke me at 3am and heavy rain, but all is quiet now.

DGS1 arrived at 7am yesterday and was such good company all day. He came with me to the hairdresser and sat on my knee while I had my wash and blow dry.

I think he enjoys being on his own, so much so that when his mum and brother came for him at 3pm he cried and told them to ‘Go to school!’😂. DGS2 had evidently been lost without his brother, they really are so different.

Much as I don’t like going shopping on a Saturday, I shall have to as I need milk amongst other things.

I’m very excited for the start of the Australian Open tomorrow especially as Alcaraz is playing. 🎾

karma I still have my old pressure cooker and when I was cooking for a family I swore by it. Meat was always so tender in just half an hour or so. Sadly, it doesn’t get used now there’s just me. I haven’t eaten meat for over twenty years and can’t be bothered to cook much for myself.

Wishing you all a good day, thoughts to those feeling overwhelmed with one thing and another.☀️

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark. The first part of the morning is going to be wet but we should have a dry afternoon.

A good session at school yesterday. Nearly missed my doctor’s appointment due to road works requiring me go all around the houses and then being unable to find anywhere nearby to park🙄. DS rang at teatime - he is dog sitting in Newcastle this weekend.

I have nothing planned but a visit to the supermarket today and baking banana bread. If it’s dry enough to work on the garden table later I will repot my cacti.

Have the best day you can, folks.

madeleine45 Sat 17-Jan-26 06:51:07

Good morning Mick and all GN's on another very dark but as far as I can tell cold but not frosty morning in North Yorkshire.

Another rubbish night, between coughing and pain in my back, if one thing didnt wake me the other did. So I am ratchety and my hair looks awful, which it always seems to do when I have a bad night. Despite brushing it I think I shall have to wet it and redry it before it is fit to be seen in public!!

Yesterday I had a very slow start to the day, with aches and pains not improving much at all. However I did manage to go down the town, get a few bits, have coffee and then thankfully get home. I did the minimum basic things, and didnt even feel like eating much, so had good soup and later on had some salad. Perhaps I will have lost a couple of pounds? No I dont think so, not even my normal amount of exercise . I read the d@s slowly, nothing special on this weekend and couldnt even be bothered to look at the crossword. I enjoyed watching Monty Don and some rather lovely gardens and then crept off to bed.

So today I need to let the painkillers kick in, and get my act together. I shall write out the shopping list, get the yellow peril uncovered and ready for the off and then face the market, and hope that there is something appealing to catch my eye, and that the fish man will be there, to give me some ideas, perhaps some smoked fish will make a change. Am hoping for inspiration as on mornings like this I have no brilliant ideas , and cant even think of anything in the normal run of food that I fancy either to eat or cook!

Then I shall get home and sort stuff out and no doubt sit with the Yorkshire Post and do as little as possible. Ah well by that time hope that I am in a better frame of mind At least no one is expecting me, and so must get down to some checking calendar dates, doing my homework on my smart phone ready for monday, Well at least we are now half way through january and I have a few snowdrops out, so shall have to be grateful for that.

Hope you have a good trip Mick and get to see friends and enjoy your trip. Karmalady those old pressure cookers worked well didnt they? I bought a hi dome one from a car boot years ago for £5 and although I dont use it as much now, being on my own etc., but it lasted well for years. Perfect on the boat for both safety and using less power, and still makes the best shin beef casserole in a short time. Think I have definitely had my moneys worth from that!

Well still pitch black outside , cant even see the outline of the tree. Time for me to get going. It is taking me so long to walk about at the moment I can see it will be another half an hour before I actually get off. Try to get to the market and Tesco early on saturday to get it over with. Wishing you all a special time in the day that you can enjoy for yourselves, whether that is a decent cup of coffee or a satisfying job completed Less pain and more pleasure for all!

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp and forecast to be wet corner of Somerset.

Yesterday was mainly sunny, we had a short, enjoyable, walk along the river. Two long phone calls filled the afternoon. Mr C thoroughly enjoyed quite a lot of the contents of the slow cooker! The freezer was duly fed with several portions.

The motorways beckon this morning, a family brunch to go to. We’ll be more than pleased to see them all although if I’m honest I won’t enjoy the need to leave by 8am, or the drive.

Best wishes to everyone and a hope this Saturday is kind to us all.

Gingster Sat 17-Jan-26 06:58:43

We’re off soon on the dreaded A12 up to our seaside cottage.
Hopefully the roads will be quieter at this time.

A clearing out day and having a look at what we need to keep and what will have to go.

Take care all

Ashcombe Sat 17-Jan-26 06:59:41

Good morning from a dry and still part of La Sarthe.

Yesterday, we had some men here to cut the very high hedge that borders our garden on the road side. They worked hard to remove about half a metre all the way along.

It seems odd without a contribution on this thread from grandMattie soon after Mick so I hope she will feel ready to rejoin us soon.
Thank you for the information about passport renewal yesterday, karmalady, Brook and Jaxjacky. Very helpful.

After elevenses yesterday, we drove to Lidl in Bonnétable where, as last time, I was able to use my App to good advantage for the special offers, saving DH about five euros! The App recognises that I’m in France.

Wishing everyone as good a weekend as possible. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Jan-26 07:08:05

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and raining. There are a number of big puddles on the road, so it's been raining for a while.
Cornergran safe journey.
Yesterday was a quick trip to the school library which is looking great and really welcoming with couches and throws and special lights, as well as new shelving. The school have really taken to improving the space. Then home to do little. I did get washing done and dried. Later dd and dgs2 arrived with macaroni cheese for my dinner. She had made a large pot.
Today I am meeting a friend at the local garden centre for breakfast. We haven't met up for a few weeks so there will be much chat. After I've dropped her off, it'll be home to do housework. I have a testosterone delivery coming this afternoon. Dinner will be salmon. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Jan-26 07:10:00

Ashcombe I second your comment. I hope GrandMattie comes back soon.

Marzipan22 Sat 17-Jan-26 07:10:21

Good morning from a dark, drizzly, mild Cornwall. Yesterday we had an unexpected shower of large hailstones. And then they were gone. That was our cold spell for now, presumably. 😁

After the school run my grandson used my new hand mixer to make the meringue mix and then held it over his head. It stayed in the bowl and afterwards turned into perfect meringues. He loved the party trick. While they were cooking we got out the Whoosh bed, a quality inflatable bed, now so old I've allowed the grandchildren to draw on it with felt tips. It looks lovely.

I met a woman of my age at the bus stop who, like me, chose to give up her vehicle as an experiment and hasn't looked back. It was so good to meet a like-minded person.

Today I'll venture somewhere, no exact plans, but it will probably involve a bus, a library or a beach and a conversation with a stranger. St Ives beckons as I haven't been there for a while and at this time of year it won't be too crowded. When I go there and inwardly sigh at the number of visitors swarming I have to remind myself that I too am a visitor, and dismount my highest of horses!!

Come back grandMattie, please.

brook2704 Sat 17-Jan-26 07:10:25

Good morning everyone from DD1s in Cambridge, it’s still dark but looks dry.
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, the DGGs were at school, DD and Sil both working so I went to the local garden centre and then pottered in their garden for a while. Picked the boys up from school and we enjoyed a lovely family evening together. Today I think there’s talk of a football match and eldest DGS is going to a birthday party but not too sure what else is planned. I’ll just go with the flow as happy to be here
Gingster hope the weekend goes ok, an emotional time for you all, safe travels
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Jan-26 07:11:11

Good grief! Tesco delivery! The other would be unlikely. Memo to self- proofread more carefully.

Melanie61 Sat 17-Jan-26 07:11:34

Good morning from Sheffield.
Up and about this morning.

I have my DGD10 and DGS15 accompanied with cockapoo from 7:15 this morning. I intend to involve her in the marmalade making. The GS will no doubt be glued to his phone.
I shall drag them all out for a dog walk later.
Take care everyoneflowers

LucyAnna5 Sat 17-Jan-26 07:14:01

Good morning from Shropshire. It doesn’t seem quite as cold today.

The children were good for us yesterday evening.H was very tired. He was fast asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. He has asthma and woke up coughing about 6am.His inhalers seem to have helped, he has a party later so hope he is well enough to go🙏🏻We will meet DD in town to hand H over then we will take DGD for lunch and shopping. We will all meet back at DD’s later where DD and I have forms to fill in re the sale of mum’s house.

We are bringing their little dog back later for a week.We have bought her a new bed.Last night the children were sitting in it to give it their smell so she doesn’t miss them too much😂

I have missed grandMattie posting too.Hope to see her back soon.

Thinking of all our mountaineers and wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

Good morning from a damp W Kent. A quiet day I think, a bit of ironing, more washing and a good read this afternoon.
Best wishes all round.

brook2704 Sat 17-Jan-26 07:22:51

grandmabatty 😂😂

Susan56 Sat 17-Jan-26 07:24:25

Grandmabatty😂I was very intrigued by the testosterone delivery!

Gingster, an emotional day for you 💐

kittylester Sat 17-Jan-26 07:26:04

Good morning all from a quiet, not too cold North Leicestershire.

I had a lovely day yesterday. DH had a hair cut and I pottered about sorting out the many flowers I have had since I came home from hospital - flower arranging is not his forte.

DD1 and DGD1 came late afternoon and we had a good catch up with lots of laughs. And then I cooked steak and chips.

I expected to sleep really well so was quite put out when a fox started moving up and down the road calling as it went.

DH is going to the football with DS1 and I am expecting a visit from DD3 and children.

Have the best day possible all.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Jan-26 07:26:08

It's a new phone which clearly thinks I should be a man!

Ashcombe Sat 17-Jan-26 07:30:13

DH and I had a good giggle about your special delivery, Grandmabatty! 🤣
