Yes, wear them but be sure you measure yourself to get the right size.
My doctor (in her 50s) says she even wears them on long car journeys now because the tendency is to press on rather than take enough breaks. I know I do this (but don't wear them in the car).
I had a long chat to her about it and wouldn't even fly short-haul without them now, though I know a lot of people only use them long-haul.
She said you are less inclined to get up and walk about on short haul. I know I have also been sitting about a lot when our take-off slot has been missed/changed. All this adds to you time sitting and waiting.
She said everyone over about 40 should wear them unless you have (I think it was) peripheral artery disease or diabetes.
I knew about low cabin pressure, dehydration, and lack of movement causing blood to pool in our lower legs but hadn't known about DVT clots often being "silent".
Because these clots often have no symptoms (no pain or redness), you may not know you have one until it dislodges up to weeks later and causes pulmonary embolism.
Too late then!
Why not wear them?
