Why am I the only one who can't.

I have been driving forever it seems, with no problems thankfully. It's only recently now I am in less of a hurry that this bothers me. Looking around car parks and drive ways I see that I am (almost) the only one whose front wheels are not straight when parked. Even with the logo aligned properly in the centre of the steering wheel I get a hit and miss result. It's not a big thing in the grand scheme of things but I feel others know something I don't. What am I doing wrong.

Just a quick point for info - I was once told not to leave a vehicle parked with any lock on the wheels - it can cause damage to power steering compnents!

it depends where you park whilst parking bays are already very narrow for most modern vehicles. if your vehicle is parked badly it can affect the neighbouring parking bays. to say so long as i am within the white lines i don’t care is selfish of some commentators here. you risk your car being hit by another car door and make it difficult for those needing access to doors other than just the driver. If i see a badly parked driver I avoid them when parking. Maybe go to a quiet car park and practice to see what might be happening and try different techniques? smile

I have an automatic VW Tiguan. My previous Tiguan was manual and I had no problem parking it. Now I use the rear view camera on the ‘new one’ as it has a green grid on it to show you if you are reversing straight. I had it perfect today but when I got out it was 9inches further over at the front. This happens every time and drives me mad! I mentioned this to the VW dealer and he said”I have that problem too”! I’ll ignore the grid in future, it has got an automatic parking system but I don’t trust it.
