Good morning from Bristol. It seems dry out - we did have a lovely afternoon after the horrible, stormy start. I hope ash and oldd had a good crossing.

Yesterday was quiet and empty as usual; laundry, baking and sewing were the order of the day. Also a few more tea-towels…

The quilt is getting on well; I’ve reached the joining of squares stage. Once sew together, I need to put sashing - strips of fabrics, hand sewn to cover the seams. It won’t be long before it’s done, ready to send to DGS for his birthday in March.

FAB cafe today; I hope the vicar starts the temporary heating on - it always seems to be colder on a Wednesday!

It is nice to see MD back. I hope things are not too awful for fgt, prayers and best wishes for comfort for them.

Good morning from a chilly but dry Portsmouth, following a crossing that was rough at times so I was glad of DH’s arm! My walking isn't the steadiest at the best of times!

The ship (Armorique) was nearly empty so we were disembarked quickly and in the hotel by 9.45 pm! Unknown in past experience!

Torbay (and Devon generally) has suffered much flooding so not sure what kind of journey we shall face today. Dorset, too, has some road closures.

Good morning from a much drier Black Country.

Stayed at Mums overnight as she is going to a local Day Centre. She will be picked up by their mini bus at 9.30, so felt I should be here for the first time. She is already making comments about not wanting to go, so we will see what happens. There are various activities and a 2 course cooked lunch.

Then I am meeting DS for lunch in his break.

Yesterday flew past. Wet in the morning as chores were accomplished, there was a cold wind later when another large bag headed to the charity shop. Too chilly to enjoy the sea front we stopped at a store for a cuppa on the way home. Somehow a doughnut found its way onto the tray. Not sure how that happened.

Mr C has requested a trip out for breakfast this morning. I see no reason why not, we may manage a wander afterwards if it really is going to be fine today. It would help some of the flooding around here lessen as well as raising spirits.

Hope you aren’t troubled by the storm aftermath as you travel home Ash, you’re right, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset have had horrific weather. Go carefully.

Good morning from Malta where a mainly fine day is forecast with a high of 19°C.

It was a lovely sunny day yesterday though windy when I went for my nails (Picture for you grandMattie 😊)

I’m up watching tennis and there’s more to come after which I will go to Lidl which I’ve been putting off every day.

There was a tragedy on Monday evening with a young lass aged 13 swept into the sea by the stormy weather. Sadly, they have so far only found her jacket despite extensive searches. Her family are here on holiday from Poland. It’s so sad.😞

I have just ordered the wool for a long cardigan for the spring. It’s called the Joseph coat as it’s granny squares of all different colours. You will see me coming, but I just loved it

I'm on day two of a cold. At least it's a pre Covid type of cold - runny nose, sneezes, but no aches and none of that gluey thick catarrh which Covid introduced.

Another day of taking it easy, staying warm indoors.

I believe today will be dry, unlike yesterday where it was torrential all day.
Not a good appointment at the hospital for DH yesterday. He needs multiple procedures on his eyes starting with a small operation next Wednesday. A worrying time at the moment.
We are picking up our new phones this morning and going to the bank followed by a small food shop.

Good morning from south Glos where it’s actually dry for once!
After a very bad night I need to get ready for a zoom one to one art tuition session this morning, my first ever. I’m looking forward to it but I need to walk tiddler first. Bigger dog has her 6 monthly check up this morning so DH is taking her. She hates the car poor thing so I do hope it goes well. That’s probably why I had little sleep, worrying about her.
My feet and ankles remain very painful, I have actually managed to get a GP appointment……..in 5 weeks time. I am definitely going to find out how to transfer to another surgery, it’s ridiculous how bad my current one is.
I’m nearly done with the big granny square blanket I’m crocheting, only 6 rows total to go but it’s taking 90 minutes a round now! It’s looking good so I’m pleased with it.

Our cleaner is due at 9 and she will sort out the bedroom with the new carpet- it defeated me yesterday.

I am hoping to get a gp appointment in the 8am scramble. And I am helping on an online zoom course this evening.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a cold very dark but still morning in North Yorkshire. There was talk of ice and very cold day, and we already have many flooded fields, but also lots of small floods on the roads, which are likely to freeze over and the big puddles on paths everywhere are also a probably danger of freezing , so it is rather a dodgy day to go out early.

I am creaking about and rather weary but felt pleased with my choice of what to do yesterday. With the awful forecast - which was true, endless rain, miserable windy cold day, it was either stay in all day, or use the day to go to the Designer Outlet in York. So I had to ring them to secure a disability buggy to get round first, and put a sandwich together but also put boots, coats, different jumpers and sunglasses in the car, to be prepared for anything and off I went.

My goodness, it was a bit of a wild trip, but sticking to the A19, was the safest way to go. There were some localised flooding , which needed negotiating carefully. One idiot in front of me charged straight through what he obviously thought was only a puddle, sending water everywhere and his car wavered about through deep water, which did give him a bit of a shock ashe then drove more sensibly. It was a slowish trip, but allowed me to see all the flooded fields and the rivers overflowing their banks etc. Anyway got there safe and sound, collected the buggy, stashed my bags and mac and tidied my windblown self up and first need was coffee and to plan my route. As it was such a horrible day, you could see there was that mixture of people. Not very busy there anyway, too near the end of the month for people to have a lot of money to spend, but there were the purposeful ones, walking briskly to their intended goals to get whatever they had come for, and then quite a few, who had obviously thought the same as me, that with such weather , it was warmer, drier, and a better opportunity to do something useful with the day. So I travelled round and up and down, checking out things, and went to the M@S outlet, where I collected together what looked like a good selection of possible buys.They do have a good disabled changing room there, where you have enough room to move about and try things on comfortably, which makes a great difference.

You are only supposed to take ,I think, 3 items in with you, but I say to the lady, I cannot cope with getting dressed and undressed several times, so can I either take everything inwith me, or leave things with her to exchange as I go along. Also I pick a quiet time, but say that if anyone else comes to use the disabled changing room I will immediately come out and let them go in. So the sensible lady in charge was quite happy to let me take everything in at once. I get very organised, trying on all t shirts and jumpers etc and then put my top back on and try the trousers etc. So felt rather exhausted, and a bit disappointed as most of what I tried was no good, but did get a couple of items sorted out and also got one or two packs of things like pants etc ., so it wasnt all wasted time.

Then having got the main place sorted I wandered around all the shops, in the dry and warm and so was then pleased to get out of there and get going home, as it was the games night at the pub.Somewhat shattered by the drive home, but made it to the games night in time , so feeling that I am getting back to normal Not a lot of people there, and we played a game I have played before, thank goodness, as after the day in York , I wasnt up to complicated games and thinking hard.

So today is definitely a sorting out day at home first. Still , very annoyingly, cannot find my reading glasses, and need to resort out my bits from yesterday. Then I want to bring my box in from the car, and wash everything in there and check it out, so that I have all the right plates and cutlery etc in anticipation of hopefully trips out in the near future. Tonight it is whist night, assuming the roads are passable , so that is more relaxed , as I have played for years, so hoping for a steady day, with jobs getting done, and hopefully finding the glasses.

Hope you get back in time to enjoy your cycling Mick. GrandMattie, will you send us a picture of your quilt when it is finished? Hope you have an easy journey home Ashcombe. Bellasnana , I see you are ready for Valentines Day with your nails. They always look so elegant and neat. I used to wear nail varnish and take some care doing them, but these days, I find my nails break easily and of course when I get round to some gardening, I just try to keep my nails clean and usually short too , so just enjoy looking at other peoples elegant efforts now. How very sad about the poor young girl. Pantglas , hope the move all goes well this morning. You will be glad to sit down this afternoon.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark. It’s very cold. We are promised a dry day and I hope it is calmer than yesterday when the wind was fit to take you off your feet. Even the birds were struggling. I managed to get into school and back though my son rang and said he hoped I wouldn’t be venturing out!
GS is home for a few days and is coming over to see me today. We will have breakfast together and he’ll do a couple of things for me before he goes home. My tinnitus is shocking today so I hope his visit will take my mind off it.

Good morning everyone from a frosty but bright mid Essex. A dry day is forecast after yesterday’s deluge. Fortunately no flooding here, but I’m sure the river will be quite high. I contacted a friend who lives in the New Forest and although there was some flooding in his town, he was unaffected fortunately.

ash I’m glad you survived the crossing unscathed yesterday and hope that your drive back to your home isn’t disrupted by floods and road closures.

nannyjan I hope that your Mum can be persuaded to go to the daycare centre and that she enjoys herself.

It was nice to see md posting yesterday, but a worrying time for her, with her DDiL’s operation and her own health problems. Hopefully things will improve soon for her and her family.

Thinking of all those with health concerns either for themselves, or for their loved ones.

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark but dry Carlisle. It may be a tad frosty as I can hear car engines running.

Yesterday, I stayed home. It was rather wet and windy but not too bad to go out but as it's due to be better today I postponed the trip and had a good cleaning session instead. That tends not to get done when it's sunny as I then prefer to be outside.

I'll collect a prescription this morning, visit M&S food hall and maybe leave some stuff at the charity shop. Then it will be home to do the ironing and some admin before settling down to some reading. I'm reading a well reviewed Japanese classic but I can't say it's really grabbing me. The author seemed rather weird, his last work was a tetralogy and he said when he finished it, he would die. I thought he was being fatalistic but no, on the day he completed it, he committed hara-kiri, at the age of 45. There must be better ways to go!

Good Morning from a dry, at last, south coast and we are promised some sunny spells too!

DH is out with his cycle club today and will have lunch at their destination so no cooking required from the resident chef who is happy to have something light and easy.

He has a new ebike on order after 8 years using his present one, which is getting a bit prone to needing repairs. I encouraged him to indulge as he is a very abstemious person and dislikes spending money on himself. The new bike may be delivered today and will need putting together but he can do that himself in the garage, aka as the bike shed.

Choir tonight for me and our MD may be back following her family bereavement but we shall see Attendance has been a bit patchy from members. Given the horrible weather January has bestowed, it is quite hard to forsake the cosy home for an always chilly church hall. I think everyone is ready for spring and lighter nights. A bit milder would be nice too.

Good morning all and it’s dry, calm but chilly here in Essex with warnings of ice .

Yesterday the traffic was dreadful, with bad weather conditions and 4 way temporary traffic lights. It took over an hour to get DGD to school.
She stayed here last night and will probably do the same tonight, as her mum is quite poorly. She seems to have a couple of weeks well and fit and then goes down with a bang.

My little ‘lion heart’ takes it all in her stride and just jogs along, accommodating changes and agreeable to everything. No fuss or bother. ❤️

I had to cancel little pooches 6 month checkup at the vets as the traffic was so bad. Getting beyond acceptable now!

Today I’m meeting an old friend for lunch. She did our POA for us back in the summer and I’ve promised her lunch . It’s been cancelled twice already, so fingers crossed , today’s the day.

DH had a reminder letter yesterday from the hospital about an appointment for next week, good job they sent it we knew nothing about it we cancelled the October one due to being away and they said they would send another which they haven't until this reminder.

Good morning from a damp, dark, battered Cornwall. A friend and I had coffee at a sea front hotel yesterday and had to cling on to each other to get from the car to the hotel. The sea was boiling and angry.

Third session of silversmithing last night where we made chains and I sawed my thumb but we bound it with paper towel and masking tape until it stopped bleeding. Plasters are useless when you're on blood thinners. 😁 My two-bus journey home was lovely with lights twinkling in the dark and the rain gently coming down. I was home by 11. Our buses serve me so well. Today I'll just chill but will take a book and have lunch in front of the log fire at Wetherspoons.

Good morning everyone. Damp and full again in N.Bucks.
My blood tests didn’t show up anything out of order, it was suspected that I may have polymyalgia. So that’s good . Next step to try to find out the cause if the pain in my shoulders and various other places is a physio and a scan.
DHs golf has been cancelled today so a pottering morning for me whilst he goes for coffee with his pals instead.
WI knitting group for me this afternoon and WI committee this evening where we have quite a long agenda to get through.
