Good morning from a very frosty Suffolk after non stop rain yesterday. The lanes at round here were floods yesterday as I travelled home early afternoon and I think there will be patches of black ice. Having avoided going out in the last trusty spell I’m taking the same decision today.

This means I shal miss my keep fit class and the monthly coffee session with 3 friends from the class but I don’t want to take the risk of slipping.

Hope those living in the parts of the country suffering from floods haven’t been too badly affected and life can soon return to normal( whatever that is these days).

Good morning from a brighter W Kent. Looking forward to a visit to a friend this morning although she has had an operation postponed so will be very unhappy. My DB finally got help from his GP yesterday who remarked he didn’t know how he was standing up. Nice state we are all in!
Hopefully a quiet afternoon before a busy day tomorrow
Lovely nails Bella
Nannajan Hope mum goes off ok
Best wishes to all

Good morning from a dry Stockport.
I had a bad night and feel like a damp rag.
We are having problems getting the 16 year old autistic GS to school, he is doing GCSE’s this year and the stress it is putting him under is awful to see.
He should not be in mainstream school but it was taken out of our hands when his mother had a breakdown, the two boys have not seen her for two years now, it is a dreadful problem for us all and I really don’t need it at my age.
I hope the rest of you can have a better day than me.

Good morning all from Polmont where its currently 4° and dry. The winds appear to have died down too. Bellasnana lovely nails but what an awful thing to happen. That poor girl. Ash I hope you get home safely. Roses that is a ridiculous time to have to wait to see a doctor.
Yesterday the boys fought before school and afterwards too. The teacher voice was used and time out too. Dgs1 will listen, dgs2 not so much. I think they needed to be outside and running around but yesterday was not the day with heavy rain all day.
Last night I slept extremely well for me. No painkillers needed either. When I woke at the back of 5, I was pondering if I should get up and promptly dozed off again! Wednesday is a quiet day for me usually, after the early starts and childcare etc of Monday and Tuesday. I'll probably go to the school for an hour then home to potter. I do need to buy a birthday present for a friend who has a big birthday at the weekend. Tonight will be chicken curry from the freezer. I have lots of dishes to use up and this seems a good enough reason. Have a good day all

urbb, what a distressing situation. You are heroes taking on GCs, at your age and one with so many problems. 🫂❤️🥰

Good morning all, 3° here in Glasgow.

Bella, what a terrible tragedy. Her poor family.

I have had the weirdest dream. I flew to Canada (???) To visit
a McArthur Glen outlet, however, I had my my car, because in the dream, I had parked it in the station car park, before taking a train.
I am most annoyed, because Mr MD woke me up with a cuppa, before I could get any bargain hunting done. 😭

Nothing much to report, because I’m confined to barracks. Mr MD has locked me in the tower and thrown away the key.😉
There were moments I thought of divorcing him, for example, when I was in the bath and despite promising to assist me, he forgot all about me!
We have an accessible shower room, but I just wanted a bath. He suddenly remembered I was in the bath and came rushing upstairs, only to find me back in bed. I had literally bounced off the walls, trying to get back to bed. What made it worse was the walls kept moving and the floor kept rising up to meet me, due to the labyrinthitis. 🥴

When I initially became unwell, I asked DH to look in my purse for the emergency anti nausea medication, I keep there. You need to remember, I couldn’t move my head, for fear of vomitting, but he tipped the contents of the purse on the bed and asked me to point out the strip of pills. 😭

My wee DIL is now out of HDU, most of the tubes are out, but she is very frail and in a great deal of pain. 😪 She has seen the pain management team, but she is so tiny, it's a matter of trial and error.
On a more positive note, has now been moved to a ward, but it is full of old ladies.🤣
DIL2's mum has just retired as Ward Manager of that ward, DIL1 would have got VIP treatment.
I just want to see her, but am too unwell to do so.

I got an unexpected visit from the P.P yesterday afternoon, which was so kind of him. We had a right old gossip.
Another surprise was, I received some emails and WhatsApps from parishioners, who instead of complaining (as I had expected) about non receipt of the e-bulletin last weekend, were concerned at my absence.
People have been so kind and thoughtful on here and in my parish community. Thank you all.

I wish Ash and OD a safe journey and anyone else travelling.
Best wishes for all the hospital procedures. ♥️

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It currently 2 degrees but I can see a bit of blue sky. Today I have my hair cut and colour and will have a wander around M & S and Next which is close by. Trying very hard to lose some weight and do more exercise but still in a hibernation and treat myself to a biscuit/cake mode. There will be coffee and goodies in the hairdressers today plus lots of lovely chat.

Wishing everyone the best day possible 🌼

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and dry today. Spring will be in the air

My bottoming was all finished by 10 yesterday, I have had a good head start with my spring cleaning and was very satisfied looking at the state of my 4 microfibre dusting gloves

A walk after that, clear water was bubbling up through some road drain covers, lots of running water and puddles everywhere. One inconsiderate driver drove fast through a big puddle by me, I had to be nimble to get out of the way

I have ordered my summer begonias, garden ready plugs for 10 troughs, the tubers were a faff last year. I also ordered another 10 cambridge favourite strawberry plants, these will live below my asparagus

I am out for a local walk today and will also be digging some weeds out of my home garden. I sense spring and so do the birds

Have a good day

Good morning from Durham.

Yesterday's school routine changed slightly as while we were collecting DG4 and DGD2 we received a call from GD1. "I'm at your house Grandma."

She'd used the secret emergency key for the first time after travelling by service bus from school. It's always such a lovely surprise to see her, but normally emergencies require us to collect her. However, she told us she couldn't stay long as she was needed at the gym as a volunteer coach for a class of 4 year olds. She was absolutely thrilled to have been chosen, as if she continues, she will have a coaching certificate in two years time. Her own training session takes place afterwards which makes it a full on evening of gymnastics. She's such a determined and dedicated young lady. I'm so happy for her.

Layton Williams had been delivering a dance lesson last night at her dance school. I had wondered why she wasn't giving gymnastics a miss to attend, now I know why!

A little shopping today to at least get out for some fresh air. We've decided to replace all the bedroom carpets so a plan needs to be drawn up deciding when and how. Meanwhile our coughs still linger on. Neither of us back to full health yet but slowly getting there.

Wishing all a happy and peaceful day.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m still in bed but will get up soon.

I will listen to three lectures today for my V&A course on the Renaissance. Thus evening I will listen to another lecture on Canaletto.

At some point I want to try out a new ice cream recipe - marmalade but using peel-free marmalade.

I think OH will visit his bees today. They may need more food.

OH asked about having a party in May for our Golden wedding. I said unless ALL the family could be there it won’t happen.

Have a good day everybody.

Good morning from a foggy NE.
Yesterday the weather was dreadful, torrential rain and strong wind, it was cold and dark all day. Thankfully the wind abated at bedtime which meant a quieter night.
No plans for tor today so maybe some housework.
Safe journey Ashcombe.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 28-Jan-26 08:40:58

My plans have been scuppered 🤦‍♀️

The Imp has woken up unwell ( he was coughing here on Monday and Tuesday) DD has said no point sending him to school as he will only be sent home by morning break.

He will be deposited on my sofa in his onesie, whilst DH and FD go to her medical appointment.

Promising news on your DiL Marydoll I remember what it’s like trying to get the correct dosage to weight ratio. I was 6 stone when I met DH and hovered under 7stone until menopause. I hope they control her pain PDQ 🙏🏻

Usedtobeblonde is your GS’s school providing support, educational and pastoral?

Good morning from Shropshire.A cold start with a light frost but a sunny day forecast.

Yesterday I spent an hour on the phone to my specialist nurse then another 90 minutes sorting insurance and admin for mum.A chat with my friend and then I fell asleep.I still slept well last night though😴

Today we are meeting the florist to decide on an artificial arrangement for my dad’s grave. He loved his garden and I don’t think artificial flowers would be his thing but now we don’t go to that area very often I can’t think what else to do😢We have had a tiny real Christmas tree there for a couple of months.I need to think of something that will survive without any attention.

We will collect DGD from after school club and then take her for a meal and then to dance. We really enjoy our Wednesdays with her😊

I am so sorry so many are under the weather and finding it so difficult to get drs appointments.Thoughts to all recovering from surgery and those worried about family members.

Safe travels home Ash and olddudders.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
The usual music club yesterday and I was glad I wasn’t hosting as I’d had little sleep the night before. My songs went well and I sang ‘Wishing you were somehow here again’ for the first time with a nice piano backing from YouTube. My students used to sing it, so thought I would give it a go myself.

I’ll give the lunchtime recital a miss and get on with some housework, I have an opera co rehearsal tonight, so need to space things out.

DD has sent details of apartments in Greece for our family holiday. With my sister and DGD joining, it will be five of us. DD is my excellent PA. One of the apartments is on the island where I took my first ever trip abroad with my late DH. The island was very simple then (and so was I😁).

I wish my window cleaner would turn up…until then, thoughts to FGTs, our travelling Ashes and all🌺

Good morning all from the Scottish borders. It's light, it's dry and the sky is blue!
Such a nice change.

I drove, leading a procession as I was quite slow, through plenty of surface water to and from my Gaelic class last night.

Well really! MD being woken at the best bit😂
You sound brighter today.

In my dream an intruder came into my bedroom and I was embarrassed incase they noticed the dust! I think this was in response to all you Spring Cleaners out there who must have made an impression on me.

My DD is somewhat better today from a vomiting bug she's eaten something so will be able to photograph a wedding tomorrow.

Sorry to hear your DH isn't well Sar
Very sad about the young girl who drowned Bella

Yarn group today and glazing and firing some pots.

I hope everyone has something nice to enjoy today.
Wishing you both a calm crossing Ash

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, what a change from yesterday! It was not a good day for me in more ways than one.

First of all I had a flooded kitchen and utility room! I put some washing on, went to have a shower and came down later to find the kitchen and utility room awash. Grabbed a load of towels which I flung onto the floor to soak up the water. Thankfully the machine had finished so the load could go into the tumble dryer. Not a clue where the leak was and all I could think of was to get someone out to investigate.

That was not an easy job as I could only book on line, and the website kept taking me round in circles - I also had to get down on the.floor in front of the machine to read the model numbers etc.

In the end I was automatically put through to a live chat and after much toing and froing managed to book an engineer for Monday. Then a supposed link came through on my email to pay - but there was no link in the email! Eventually I was texted a link which actually worked.

In the middle of all this DS arrived to put new batteries in my smoke alarm! Poor DS found a very frustrated and not very happy mum, but the batteries were changed and at last I was rid of the wretched beeping from the alarm which had been going on for a week.

Then after lunch off to my opticians appointment, and on the way, picked.up my watch from the jewellers who presented me with a large bill, as the watch was.out of warranty. I shall be contacting the manufacturer as I think the bracelet should not have broken after such a short time.

Then at the opticians had my usual scan/photograph of my eyes before seeing the optician - who informed me that a cataract needed removing. I have known for several years that I had cataracts but it's only now that one of.them has become bad enough to be removed. I was given the choice of a private clinic that does NHS, or the local hospital. I went for the clinic, was duly referred and they will contact me.
I am hoping I can delay surgery till after my holiday to Spain in March.

After all that I was glad to get home, have a nice reviving glass of sherry, then my Bolognese and wine...

A Sainsbury's delivery before lunch then afterwards off to book club which I am looking forward to, as for various reasons we have not met since September.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 28-Jan-26 09:42:16

Oh how awful Bellasnana those poor parents 😿 we must never ever forget the power of mother nature especially in and near the sea.

Love the nails, I wish I was brave enough to go for a bold design. I am really boring, dark reddy cinnamon in the cold months getting lighter to a French in the summer and then returning the same way to dark…

Good Morning from a bright still Co Armagh!
Yesterday was different
Wednesday club this am , can’t remember what we are doing , which is embarrassing as I am on the committee that organised this terms doings !
I’ve a pile of magazines to take in for our library , though they might be better just left on the table for those gardeners interested
Best wishes for a decent day ,

WhiteSwan63 Wed 28-Jan-26 10:21:10

Good Morning everyone from a bright icy cold East Coast.

Usually I’d be going to the gym but we were out last night for a lovely curry and a few too many glasses of red wine so it’s a no go this morning.
I was woken this morning by our son video calling from China. My little grandson is a joy to see and makes us laugh especially this morning by waking his daddy with a roar in his face. They were reinacting it for me. My son already suffers intermittent night terrors bless him so it scared him almost to death. DIL found it very funny.
We are talking about going to a place called Zhuhai while we are there which has the largest indoor theme park in the world but more exciting is its only a short taxi ride to Macau so a little gambling might be enjoyed by DH and I.

Today I am picking up DGS from school so fingers will be crossed for a good day.
I just have a parcel to post for Vinted and some colouring pens to pick up from the Amazon locker. I decided to start mindful colouring to try to relax and calm my brain. I bought the colouring book from Aldi yesterday I’ve never thought of doing that before so thought I’d give it a go. I don’t have an artistic bone in my body so we’ll see, i probably won’t be framing any.

Thoughts to those with family worries weighing them down.💐
Hope you all find a moment of joy in your day today. 🌼
