Hello everyone. While I’ve not been in for a while I’ve not forgotten you all and been hoping life has had some enjoyable moments. Apologies, my memory won’t allow me to mention everyone.

What good news kitty, and for you dragonfly although the mystery of the tummy pain remains. That snow looks so pretty brook, we’ve not had any so far this winter (I know, be careful what you wish for) although it’s bitterly cold again this evening.

We’ve been into London by coach to ascend (and descend again smile) the chimney at Battersea Power Station. It all seemed very odd to me at first, I often travelled past on the opposite bank of the Thames when it was operational. The glass lift whizzes up the inside of the chimney and pops out at the top. Not for folk with vertigo or an aversion to heights. Wow, the views were fabulous. My phone photos don’t do them justice, far too many reflections, so forgive the quality always assuming I can make a couple post. The rest of the building is filled with shops and eateries. We wandered some of it, sat a lot, ate a lot went along the Thames a bit and had a generally happy if long day. We left home at 6.30 and got back at 11.40. Road closures caused serious headaches for the drivers in London. It mattered not to us, we were comfortable and enjoying an unexpected tour.

I of course should be asleep. I was feeling quite dozy on the coach but as soon as we stepped off the cold and fine rain woke me up and sleep has proved elusive. It’s cold indoors too as daft me decided it wasn’t worth putting heating on for half an hour while we had a hot drink. Mr C is of course slumbering.

Oh well. I’ll warm up soon and sleep will come šŸ¤ž.

Night, night everyone. TOYA.

Amazing photos, Corner!

Charleygirl5 Sun 15-Feb-26 12:56:52

corner you were fortunate with the weather as it was the only dry, sunny day for ages. I live in London and it was more pleasant out than in with no biting wind for a change.

Rather different today with so much rain again. I have asked Alexa and I am amazed it will be rain yet again tomorrow. The word drought should be removed from the dictionary.

brook2704 Sun 15-Feb-26 17:27:00

Hi kitchen pals, it’s still cold here in Inverness but the snow is gradually melting
Gorgeous views Corner, thank you - I’d love to go up that chimney one day! It sounds like you had a really enjoyable day out in London
I’m just in from a line dancing afternoon social event which was really enjoyable. Lots of friendly ladies of all ages, a couple of husbands who came along, teas, coffees, home bakes and lots of dancing. Just a quick stir fry to make for dinner and that’ll be me done for the day
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, especially our Soop and the FGTs take care all x

Grandmabatty Sun 15-Feb-26 17:36:21

Hi Brook and others in the kitchen. Corner, there's no way you would get me up there!
I had a quick trip to Tesco this morning then was looking after dgs2 for a couple of hours while dd took dgs1 to his football academy. Dgs2 was really well behaved and we went into the garden to play. I managed to break my broom as I swept. šŸ™„
The afternoon was spent doing little but watch tv. I had a nap too. Dinner will be steak and chips with salad. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk

GrannyGravy13 Sun 15-Feb-26 17:47:39

It was raining when I woke up just before 6am, it’s still raining, hasn’t stopped

Been to the 11yr olds go-carting party, I am in need of wine.

Battersea is definitely worth a visit, I went their with middle son in December and had a fabulous day, including a boat back to Westminster Bridge.

Thinking of all in the quiet corner šŸ‘

Good evening all, it’s been cold and rainy here. We had an enjoyable walk around the Dock all the same, well wrapped up against the weather. This afternoon we’ve been watching our favourite little steam train. We had a lovely fish pie for tea, now catching up on some of our favourite YouTube channels. Have a peaceful night, TOYA.

Redcar Sun 15-Feb-26 20:30:11

Hello everyone, what a miserable day weatherwise! After yesterday’s chilly sunshine today we had chilly wind and heavy rain! Too wet to go out, although both DDs had a short walk this morning and got drenched.
We had a delicious lunch in a very small restaurant in St Leonard’s on Sea but have just lazed around since then. We have to leave the house by 10 in the morning so a lot of clearing up to do! DD1 and her daughters aren’t the tidiest, fortunately her DH is very good at clearing up after them all. DD2 and her OH are quite tidy, as I am, so we’ll be busy! It’s been a lovely weekend and I’ll be sad to be on my own again next week.

* blossoming * good you were able to have your walk and see the steam trains.

* brook* the line dancing sounds fun, especially with refreshments provided.

Thinking of Soop, the fgts and others in the quiet corner.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Nannytopsy Mon 16-Feb-26 08:51:10

Redcar your weekend sounds wonderful. Memories made I’m sure. Corner I am another Gran who couldn’t go up the chimney! DS had a 9th floor flat with a Juliet balcony and I couldn’t even sit on that side of the room. My friend has an expression for that feeling of horror - it makes me go all funny where my legs meet my body.
It’s so descriptive of exactly that feeling!
We had a real blizzard yesterday afternoon but it’s was very wet snow and soon disappeared. The sun is out at the moment. What a relief.
Enjoy your days x

Redcar Mon 16-Feb-26 15:40:45

nannytopsy lots of lovely memories of the weekend. Just lovely to be able to spend time with the DGDs, the house had an indoor swimming pool, with a wave machine so you could (if so inclined) swim against the current. The three eldest are all good swimmers and spent most of yesterday in the pool. Littlest had a little ā€œswimā€ with her daddy.

I don’t know quite what to do with myself today, the washing is on, and I can’t decide what to have for dinner this evening! I’ve had a rummage in the freezer and don’t fancy any of it. Maybe a pizza, or sausages…. I’m not really hungry today - too much lovely food over the weekend!

corner I wouldn’t mind the height of the chimney, but wouldn’t go up inside it! Too claustrophobic for me.

Enjoy the sun if you have it today, it’s cold but chilly at the moment, we’ve had one shower but sunny now.
Have a good day folks.

kittylester Mon 16-Feb-26 16:41:17

I wouldn't go up the chimney or inside the chimney - some of you are really brave.

Just popped out of the quiet corner to see if there is any news of soop or fgt.

I'm having a very lazy day today as DD2 and Co are keeping us on our toes. DH has taken their youngest (DGD4) birthday shopping as she was upset not to go. I'm not yet up to the marathon that is birthday shopping with Lottie.

Your house sounds fabulous *Redcar.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 16-Feb-26 17:51:56

Hello all.
Just catching up with all your doings.
I saw the GP this morning and have , as I suspected, a chest infection and a very sore throat.
On Amoxicillin for 5 days.
I haven’t felt properly ok for ages but this has come on suddenly.
I feel pretty grim but it will pass and makes me so aware of our poorlies and their carers in our kitchen whose problems are longstanding and need our kindest thoughts.
It has been an awful day weatherwise, cold and heavy rain with hail.
Definitely an indoor day.

Grandmabatty Mon 16-Feb-26 18:13:29

utbb you take care of yourself now.
I'm rather unwell with a cough and a cold and generally feeling rubbish. The boys were really good today. I took them to soft play then a toy shop then home. They played well all afternoon. Dgs2 got very upset when his mum came for him because he wanted to take some of his new toys home and dd didn't want him too. So there was crying, screaming and rude behaviour. Such a shame.
I can't face cooking anything so I'll probably just go to bed early. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk

TillyTrotter Mon 16-Feb-26 18:38:13

Just popping into soop’s warm kitchen to send very best wishes to the soop’s of course, the fgt’s , Yiayia, Jax, Uttb, grandmabatty, dusty angel, doodle, Granmarie, Charleygirl, Brook and everyone else who I’ve not mentioned my name. ā¤ļø thinking of you all

Grandmabatty Mon 16-Feb-26 18:41:14

TillyTrotter best wishes to you too.

cornergran Mon 16-Feb-26 18:46:03

I’m sorry there are so many poorly folk. Get well wishes go to you all.

Best wishes to everyone.

Jaxjacky Mon 16-Feb-26 19:07:37

Oh dear Grandmabatty and utbb I do hope you recover soon, so many bugs about, llfl is poorly too.
Your weeekend sounds great Redcar and your back survived!
Ventured out today in the cold to see the hip consultant, basically carry on as you are and stick to the rules for at least another two weeks if not longer. He explained a dislocation causes a lot of trauma to ligaments and muscles, chances of a recurrence are low - šŸ¤ž
I slept for a good hour this afternoon, fatigue another symptom, so, onwards we go.
Have a pleasant evening all.

brook2704 Mon 16-Feb-26 19:17:41

Thank you Tilly I hope you’re doing ok, sending a hug 🄰
Slow but steady progress Jax but hopefully you’ll be more mobile in time for when the weather improves, it must be so frustrating though
Sorry to hear you’re still feeling poorly grandmabatty, hope you’re feeling a bit better tomorrow, you too uttb
I’ve had my dental check up and it’s all ok now for 6 more months. I’m just about to go out to a line dancing class, it’s cold and dark but I do enjoy the classes! DH will drive and pick up 😊
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 16-Feb-26 22:30:51

Hello kitchen people. I’ve just popped in briefly.

So many of us are under the weather. I was supposed to go to a glass fusion session today but really wasn’t up to it. I’ve had to cancel a visit to friend’s tomorrow. She is always worried about catching something.

FGT2S 🌹

Sleep šŸ’¤ tight.

Castle25 Mon 16-Feb-26 22:43:04

A good day today after a horrible time last week with both DH and me suffering from a stomach bug kindly donated by DGD. This morning was baby dance class then she had vaccinations. She was very upset afterwards but calpol and a nap helped. Meeting up with a friend I haven’t seen for ages tomorrow

Yiayia4 Tue 17-Feb-26 13:38:30

Hello dear Kitcheners. So sorry to hear so many of you are poorly get well soon all of you.🌻
Very pleased you had such good news Kitty and sounds like all is going well JaxšŸ¤ž

It’s been a tough week,no results yet but DH has been quite poorly. He is very breathless and much worse when laying down,it’s scary. He has been given more meds and inhalers and it seems to be helping.
I have a cardiologist appointment on Monday feeling anxious its 10 months since I had an echocardiogram a long time to wait so hoping nothing too bad.šŸ¤ž

Thoughts and prayers as always to Our Soop and FGT.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 17-Feb-26 13:56:16

Such a lot of unsettling news in our lovely kitchen and what is more unsettling is when we get no news from certain posters who we know are troubled.
* Yia* I hope your H finds some relief from his new meds and you get reassurance from your next cardiologist appointment.
I am seeing my GP on Friday to discuss the results of my ECG last week.
The technician who did it said I would be having a 72 hour monitor fitted, been told since that the waiting list to have one fitted is very long, just a waiting game.
My AB’s are not doing their job yet but it’s only day 2, we are supposed to be at a wedding on Saturday with an overnight stay, I certainly am not up to that yet, a few more days may help.
Kindest wishes to you all. I forget individuals after I have read but be assured you are all in my thoughts.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 17-Feb-26 17:27:31

Hello, just a quick visit before I toddle off to make pancakes!

I’m feeling much better today thankfully, I made a batch of lemon iced cream (the family favourite) and did my ironing.

OH is going to his shooting club. I may carry on reading a book about Eleanor of Aquitaine. What a formidable woman.

I’m thinking of all in the kitchen who are going through such difficult times. I’m sad we haven’t heard from FGT2 or the Soops in a while.

Enjoy this eveningšŸ„žšŸ„žšŸ„ž!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 17-Feb-26 18:14:10

Just popping in to see if there was any news from our dear soop

Lazy dinner here at Gravy Grange, I have taken one of my batch cooked spaghetti bolognaise sauces out of the freezer, so I only have to warm it through, cook some pasta and rustle up some garlic bread.

Not a lot happening here, weather is still rather grey, and my mood is mirroring it šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Thinking of all in the quiet corner šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

Jaxjacky Tue 17-Feb-26 18:22:58

Good to hear from you Yia but sorry life is so harrowing, šŸ¤žfor new meds and your appointment.
utbb hopeful tomorrow will see an improvement.
MrJ went to the library, I’m now stocked up with books for a while, no pancakes today, but we rarely eat dessert.

Enjoy yours if you’re having them.
