Well done Jax ♥️

Jaxjacky Wed 04-Mar-26 19:36:57

I actually went out! It’s been so easy to stay in my comfort zone at home, MrJ drove me a short distance away and I briefly walked by the river. Two crutches ‘just in case’!
Fresh air, it’s boosted me.
Excuse the trackies!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 04-Mar-26 19:36:38

I am home alone, my dinner was a fish finger sandwich on crusty seedy bread and a large bowl of salad, delicious.

Thinking of our dear soop and a (((hug))) to all 🙋‍♀️

It’s lovely to see you here FGT2. Those moments of realisation do catch you unawares, I admire your strength and the way you are dealing with life’s ‘slings and arrows’ with such grace. It’s been a sunny day here, we have had a lovely walk and have been to the phlebotomist for my latest blood tests. The results usually come through quite quickly. Goodnight, TOYA xx

Hello, FGT. ❤️

Just popping in to say.....FGT... You have been inspirational in the way you have dealt with the journey you and Himself travelled over the last 3 years. I know for sure he will never be far from you...just out of sight for now. ♥️
Love to all you lovely Kitchen Grans too. Your kindness and support at all times is unmeasured and so appreciated.

Sign of Spring!

Two overtired DGC here, so I expect we will get grief from mum!
We suggested that DGS (12) might like to move into a bedroom of his own when he stays here now, with his own bathroom. He has always shared with his sister (9) at this house. He seemed really pleased.
All arranged, she decided that his bed in the shared room is now hers. Ok until he went up, decided he wasn’t moving and started a row about her being in “his” bed. It has finally gone quiet but it is 10.30pm! His inner teenager rearing its head 😵‍💫
I hope you have had much calmer evenings than us.
I wish my nails were long enough for a manicure FGT. They break so easily that I have to keep doing running repairs and they are very short. Any tips?
Sleep well my dear Kitcheners.

Thinking of you all in this cosy kitchen, especially our dear soop, I do hope you are warm & comfortable. x

Also our friend FGT, one step, one day at a time. x

Those in the quiet corner, & the many with added worries. x

utbb sometimes if I’m watching a program and they show a place where we visited, I want to ask M if he remembers going there.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 03-Mar-26 22:07:09

FGT I found it was when I heard a piece of news and thought “I’ll tell R when I get home” that realisation struck.

Good to see you again FGT.
Hoping everyone is having a good evening.

grandMattie Tue 03-Mar-26 21:40:07

My poor fgt, these little things will ambush you at most unexpected moments for some time to come. I wish I’d known when my own DH died.
Eventually you get used to it.
I’m glad you enjoyed your manicure.💅

Grandmabatty Tue 03-Mar-26 21:02:34

Good evening kitchen folk. FGT it's good to hear from you.
Ive been in bed for a while. I'm doing an extra early childcare day tomorrow so i need my sleep! However i think i need a cup of tea more. The boys were really good today. Dgs1 was telling me the months in french and dgs2 was singing 'Five currant buns in the bakers shop', a song we didnt know he knew.
Im off to make a cuppa and have a ginger snap biscuit. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk

Redcar Tue 03-Mar-26 20:29:38

fgt it’s those little sudden realisations that bring it all home to you. On a practical note, I found I wasn’t using the washing machine as frequently as I used to when my DH was here.
Look after yourself. flowers

Hello everyone, another lovely sunny, dry and warm day, I could get used to this! I had my usual walk, sorted out my house insurance and did some ironing. I managed another short session of weeding the garden, I wish I could do more out there, but my back won’t allow it. I’m sitting with a hot wheat pack on my back now, it’s helping a bit,
I was quite shocked to see that some of the bulbs in smaller pots actually needed watering, even after all the rain we’ve had!

Best wishes to all in the quiet corner and hugs to those who would like one.

Enjoy the rest of the evening. A beautiful full moon tonight, which may keep me awake!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 03-Mar-26 20:24:05

Evening All

I had a French manicure this afternoon and I know Himself would have heartily approved.

I nearly came undone when I loaded the washing machine and realised with sudden aclarity that from now on there will only be my clothes in the drum.

Jaxjacky Tue 03-Mar-26 19:19:03

Hi all, another sunny day, I did what cleaning I could in the kitchen, MrJ wielded the shark.
I researched car insurance for my son, ordered patio cleaner and faffed with Tesco list.
So lovely to see FGT on the Good Morning thread today ❤️
Great pictures brook
Have a gentle evening all, there is a full moon.

Nannytopsy Tue 03-Mar-26 18:50:23

Posted too soon - hope you all have the best evening you can.

Nannytopsy Tue 03-Mar-26 18:49:04

Evening! We have just had an early tea with DGC who are here for a sleepover. That means an early get up tomorrow morning - we have to leave by about 8 am. 🥱 At least I will be up early to get in the garden.
WI committee meeting this afternoon which didnt take too long. We are in the run up to the AGM but we are not expecting many changes.

brook2704 Tue 03-Mar-26 18:13:12

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a sunny day here in Inverness, nice in the sunshine but there was still a cold wind.
Thank you Redcar 😀
I’ve been to the gym for a couple of classes and enjoyed coffee with a pal. Walked into town by the river, had a browse around the shops and then got the bus home. A straightforward enjoyable day which was lovely. Salmon for dinner and then an early night beckons.
Lovely blue flower Blossoming, hope you’re doing ok and still enjoying your walks
Thinking of friends in the quiet corner, take care all x

Lovely photos of London brook. A lovely day for sightseeing!

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 02-Mar-26 22:29:02

Hello kitchen people and welcome to the newbie!

Our cleaner came this morning so the house is sparkling, the gardener also came for her first visit of the year. She did quite a bit of clearing up and even a bit of pruning.

I did the Waitrose shop and filled up with petrol - the price hadn’t changed.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Good evening all, I’m ready for bed, just wanted to share this beautiful periwinkle spotted on our morning walk. Hope all the poorly people are doing well. Goodnight, TOYA xx

brook2704 Mon 02-Mar-26 21:52:20

Thank you Jax and Redcar we’re safely home now after our lovely family weekend. Today’s jaunt sightseeing in London was good too, it was a lovely sunny day with lots of people out and about. We bought a sandwich, got a takeaway coffee and sat on a bench in the sunshine by the side of the Thames watching the Uber boats go up and down and just taking in the impressive skyline views. The flight from Gatwick was on time and straightforward and as we’d left the car at the airport so it was a quick journey home. Tomorrow back to reality and the gym 😳
So good to hear you’re making steady progress Jax, each day is a step closer to being fully mobile again. Hope MrJ is ok too and the tablets do their job well
Hope your DH is doing ok Yia and all goes well for you on Friday
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, hoping fgt and soop are doing ok, take care all ❤️
