Hope nobody minds me opening a new kitchen.

Cake, Tea & Fizz on the side 🍰🍾🫖

Grandmabatty Wed 25-Feb-26 10:29:57

Grannygravy, I remember you posting about that when it happened! I'm sorry you are still suffering the effects.

Jaxjacky Wed 25-Feb-26 10:43:09

We won’t mention my slip and fall!!
Happy Birthday Mrcornergran 🎂🥳

Usedtobeblonde Wed 25-Feb-26 11:00:58

Jax your slip and fall has proved very “ costly” to you in personal terms, I hope it soon improves.

I feel so guilty saying this but going to the funeral on Monday has done me a power of good.
Since a viral infection during the first week in December I have not felt at all well, no jest for life, never really happy or content.
Christmas came and went and I have not been out for a meal, one of my pleasures, in weeks.
I missed a lovely wedding last Saturday which depressed me.
However I met old friends and neighbours on Monday, was told how well I looked (for my age) and generally brightened up.
Perhaps I do still have lots of living to do and when I think of the ones who would love to get out and about and can’t then I realise I must do it.

The friend whose funeral it was lived life to the full.
He was 93 and in the 23 years he and my good friend were married they did 30 cruises , many long distance and at least one weekend every couple of months, a wonderful example.

Well I must get my skates on to ready the house for my Wednesday friend coming later, I have put her off enough.

Stay safe and well if you can.

Jaxjacky Wed 25-Feb-26 11:27:09

How lovely utbb a great awakening, off you go and enjoy 🙂

RosiesMawagain Wed 25-Feb-26 11:46:51

I think it is lovely UTBB that this has inspired you to joyful things- it sounds as if a long life well-lived was celebrated and if you and others found it uplifting I am sure your friend would have been glad for you.
Surrounded by loss or sadness or ill health it is easy and understandable to sink into a "slough of despond" - no offence to grans who live in Slough!
The glimpse of sunshine this week and (we hope) imminent approach of Spring seem to me the perfect time to lift our faces to the sun and our eyes to the horizon

BlueSapphire Wed 25-Feb-26 12:00:50

Oh Maw, sorry to hear your news, but am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it is nothing to worry about.
We will need to have a restorative day out with lunch and wine in MK when I get back from my holiday!

brook2704 Wed 25-Feb-26 15:50:35

Hoping everything works out ok Maw and it’s just routine with nothing to worry about ❤️
What a shame about the cancellation nannytopsy hoping you get booked in again soon
Definitely do as much as you can and you want to do Uttb, it’s much harder in the winter months but it sounds like you’ve turned a corner now and things are looking up. Your friend definitely set an amazing example to others and lived life to the full
I’m just home from the gym and coffee with a friend, I’m off out later for line dancing - it gets me off the sofa in the evening and I enjoy it 😀
A very Happy Birthday to Mr Corner, I hope cake has been part of the celebrations today 🎂

Grandmabatty Wed 25-Feb-26 17:48:02

Brook enjoy your class tonight. I've had a very lazy day indeed. I've dried all dds stuff from yesterday and did a little washing but have rested otherwise. As expected, my knee, hip and shoulder have been sore today as they took the force of my landing but nothing major. Macaroni cheese for dinner shortly. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk

Charleygirl5 Wed 25-Feb-26 18:38:02

I hope you had a pleasant birthday Mr C. Maw the one good thing is you are being monitored so whatever is festering has not been there for long.

Grandmabatty you were very lucky not to break a bone. At least you know the aches and bruises will soon go. I would think that one young man has forgotten about it!

Uttb at least the weather is in our favour and hopefully soon you will be out for lunches and dinners again.

I was meeting one of the PCSOs for our regular Neighbourhood Watch meeting. I was the only one to turn up. Otherwise I think I would have been sunbathing in my garden.

cornergran Wed 25-Feb-26 20:19:46

Mr C says thank you for the good wishes. We went underground at Cheddar and had a thoroughly enjoyable time although neither of us recall those caves having so many steps. Mr C was chuffed that at 83 he managed without problem while I puffed a bit. He’s five years older and to be truthful I was delighted too, the open heart surgery at 80 was certainly worth the hard work of recovery. We’re holding to our former neighbours mantra of do it while you can. She was 95 when she left us and remained positive until the end, a role model for us both. It’s definitely been a let the birthday person eat cake day.

That was unexpected maw, many of us have had false alarms, a heartfelt hope the same for you.

Good to hear you feel more upbeat utbb, onwards and upwards now. Something that’s been muttered a lot here since Christmas.

Pleased you bounced - with help - grandmab. Please be careful out there.

Apologies for missing folk out. My memory isn’t cooperating now. Just a bit weary.

Enjoy your evenings everyone. Love to all.

TillyTrotter Wed 25-Feb-26 20:23:38

Happy late Birthday Mr cornergran
I hope you had the lovely sunny day we did.

Redcar Wed 25-Feb-26 21:13:16

rosiesmaw I hope that the scan is nothing to worry about and you’re soon given a clean bill of health.
grandmabatty I hope your bruises go soon.
nanny I hope you get another date for your operation soon - third time lucky?

A sad day for me and my family, my much loved sister in law passed away yesterday evening, after being ill for a number of years. My DDs are distraught as they were very close to her and her daughters.

Tomorrow I’m dog sitting for DD1, then looking after the three eldest DGDs after school and while one of my DDs is at a parents evening!

Love to everyone

cornergran Wed 25-Feb-26 21:18:25

Thank you all so much for your messages of sympathy, they really help. I worked with my sister in law and was friends with her for a few years before we introduced her to my brother!

Charleygirl5 Wed 25-Feb-26 22:44:46

Granmarie I say it quietly, but Alexa told me it was 19C here. Tomorrow, amazingly back to showers and colder weather. My garden is a mud bath.
