See you all in the earlies

grandMattie Sun 01-Mar-26 05:21:35

You never stop worrying about your children, purple, whatever age. The trouble is that, once they have grown up, there is very little you can do, except just be there for them. I hope things sort themselves out for your son.
Not bad night, although I had a 10 minute nap yesterday.

SORES Sun 01-Mar-26 05:30:42

I’m wide awake, since 2.45, had the obligatory wee, washed my face, opened the window looking for planets, saw only cloud, made herbal tea, the usual routine, now contemplating 2xweetabix and chopped banana.

It’s a mistake to read the news, Iran, Trump, 60 schoolgirls,
the Osborne ghouls and latest I.H. situation.

I’m warm, comfy bed, clear conscience, no idea why I wake
after a few hours sleep then as now feel I can sleep again,
in a split shift.
This means if I fall asleep now I may not wake until 8 oclock or later, having disturbing dreams, which isn’t at all restful
March! already

BlueBelle Sun 01-Mar-26 06:01:40

Purplepixie thinking of you 💐

Purplepixie Sun 01-Mar-26 06:23:43

Thank you. No sleep all night. I’m going to crochet together a throw for my youngest son’s bed. Try and keep myself busy today. Might have a nap later. He’s coming to stay on Friday night but he’ll be gone early on Saturday morning. Trouble is that he lives 100 miles away and his job is stressful and getting him down. I’ve been there in the past and I know what it’s like.

Esmay Sun 01-Mar-26 09:39:18

Purplepixie
I really feel very sorry for you .
I also worry about my kids a great deal .
They all had a fantastic start in life .
I made a huge effort to give them the happy stable childhood which I didn't have and now they seem so unhappy and discontented with their lot .
The only solace that I have is prayer .
I pray a lot .

After showing off about my good sleep for the last 8 nights, I’m back where I started. Serves me right!
3 am start today.

JamesandJon33 Mon 02-Mar-26 10:36:22

Well I have come to a very sad conclusion. I sleep far better when DH is not beside me. He is quite a noisy sleeper, mutters, grunts, sores etc, so if he wakes me up, I have trouble return to sleep.

NanKate Mon 02-Mar-26 16:49:36

I woke 3 times last night and had to get up and make tea and read on the second occasion. I’m sure I don’t get the deep revitalising sleep I should do.

JamesandJon33 Thu 05-Mar-26 03:08:19

I woke bang on 3. Shall read for a while so as not to disturb DH..

Georgesgran Fri 06-Mar-26 02:17:19

I’m always late to bed, as I only need 4/5 hours sleep. I’ve a cup of tea and a Blue Riband handy and DD2’s Little Dog is fast asleep alongside me.
It’s been raining heavily here in Durham for some hours.
Recently I’ve chanced on old repeats of The Saint - talk about wooden acting, it’s more laughable, than to be taken seriously, as we did in its day.

Doodledog Fri 06-Mar-26 02:56:00

Happy Friday all😩. I fell asleep at around midnight and am now wide awake. I know I shouldn’t use my phone, but it’s so boring just lying there.

Grammaretto Fri 06-Mar-26 03:12:21

Hello night-time gang! I wish I wasn't awake and joining you all.
I have had some sleep but my cold is really thick and I'm going through a box of tissues. sorry TMI
I have work tomorrow. It's volunteering but my co-worker has the dentist so it's up to me to set up.
Then I have promised to help a friend move a delivery of bricks! Where are all the strong young men?

Doodledog Fri 06-Mar-26 04:01:14

I’m still awake. I have to be up in four hours, and must stop remembering that, as it increases the stress😀. I wish counting sheep worked. I think I’ll listen to a hypnosis track on sleep headphones. If it doesn’t work at least I’ll feel relaxed.

Good luck with the bricks, Grammaretto. With luck it will tire you out so you sleep tomorrow.

Purplepixie Fri 06-Mar-26 04:07:14

Hi all. Slept from 10.30pm till just after 1.30am. Wide awake now. Feeling a lot Fedup lately and now I have a headache! Youngest son here tonight and I’m worried about him. He’ll be gone early on Saturday morning. There won’t be much time to chat. I remember hurrying about a lot when the children were small and my mam wanting me to stay longer. I didn’t. What goes around comes around! Coming back to haunt me. DH in spare room for the last two years. I feel like crying a lot lately. Night night. X

grandMattie Fri 06-Mar-26 04:59:14

Hi. Had a bit more than my usual 5 hours. I really need more but don’t, to my irritation.
I had a particularly busy Tuesday and Wednesday and needed all of yesterday to recover. I’m getting too old for this sort of stuff. I’m happy to help, but, like Grammaretto, I wonder where all the younger ones have gone.
Today will be quieter, but I’m going out again in the evening, which I find difficult as I’m so wired it takes me ages to slow down. Hey ho!
I hope grammaretto, purplepixie and doodle manage to get to the rest of today more rested. 🦩

rafichagran Fri 06-Mar-26 06:02:00

I am up to I went to the bathroom and on my return to bed I stubbed my toes on metal. Up now with a cup of tea.
I usually fo to bed between two and 4 am and get up at 9. I find it hard to sleep.
I am now accepting I have a very over active mind.

Esmay Fri 06-Mar-26 15:20:52

Another restless night .
I hardly slept at all

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

HelterSkelter1 Sat 07-Mar-26 05:15:06

Wideawake at 3.00. Unloaded the dishwasher. Made a cup of coffee. Done Wordle.

The kitchen is cool but not Arctic. It looks wet out there but not actually raining.

I cant believe a week has flown by since last Saturday. I watched the Tony Blair documentary yesterday and it seemed so strange to see people who had been on the tv screens constantly in the late 90s and early 2000s. Jack Straw, Clare Short, Gordon Brown and Tony Blair himself and Cherie. Both of them looking young and glamorous. Both looking pretty worn out now. ...as do I!!!

cornergran Sun 08-Mar-26 03:09:42

Hope I’m the only one awake. Just can’t settle tonight which is odd as the day has been busy but not overly so. Kitchen cupboards have been cleaned and re-organised with the help of Mr C. A walk to the nearest shops, a bus back as there was one waiting at the stop. Some life admin this afternoon, nothing to keep me awake. Just one of those nights. Oh well back to my book.

Sleep tight everyone.

Doodledog Sun 08-Mar-26 03:32:45

I was busy yesterday too. Not as productive as you, cornergran, but I was out all day with friends, and went to bed tired, yet here I am. It’s infuriating, isn’t it?

Gymstagran Sun 08-Mar-26 04:54:09

Rubbish sleep, I walked the parkrun yesterday then went shopping with grandaughter, over 15000 steps. Knees and hips ached all night . Who said excercise is good for you!

grandMattie Sun 08-Mar-26 05:00:16

Hate to show off, but… after another string of dodgy nights,I slept so well last night; an unusual 6 hours.
I have had a frantically busy week and a string of bad nights despite having been wiped out, so this is so very welcome.
I have been trying to avoid a short afternoon nap, but that hasn’t helped.
I’m so envious of my mum who could sleep 10 hours given the chance.

rafichagran Sun 08-Mar-26 05:18:46

I have been up since 3am. I should sleep as I have got a virus and have been tired all day, but no snother bad night
Oh well I will sleep in this morning if I can.

Moth62 Sun 08-Mar-26 09:46:11

For some reason, I have been managing not to lie awake for the last week or so. (I know, I shall probably regret admitting to that now). Very late to bed last night and not even up for a “comfort break”, amazingly. I am doing nothing different, so I have absolutely no idea why sometimes I wake up for hours on end. Ah, well, all part of life’s rich tapestry, as they say.

grandMattie Mon 09-Mar-26 04:55:54

Payback time last night.
I barely slept, partly because my digestion was dodgy. I don’t know how I shall cope with today. I’ll try and have a sleep (in bed) after lunch, if I eat it. Absolutely not hungry.
