What is it with these wealthy people that they can’t manage their wealth.
She obviously didn't have the capability - nor, probably, the 'enthusiasm' to live within her reduced means after the divorce settlement.
I believe she was given an annual allowance of £15,000 pa, plus £500,000 to purchase a house, a lump sum of around £350,000 and her daughters had a trust fund set up for them by the late Queen. Andrew paid for the girls' education.
She was expected to get a job to support herself - and deal with her personal debt which was quite hefty... 3/4 £million I think.
If she'd knuckled down and attempted an ordinary 9-5 job - a modest apartment - I think she could've managed quite well, in spite of the debt but obviously she wanted the life-style she'd been accustomed to. A sense of entitlement?
It's hard to feel any sympathy when so many people struggle on so much less... and the way she spoke about one of her daughters in an email was appalling.
