I suppose it's because the media loves and feeds on a good scandal that all eyes are on the Epstein files. Dirty deeds by wealthy high profile people. However, to my mind it's the hushed up scandals regarding Muslim men, in large numbers, grooming and desperately abusing young vulnerable girls that's a more important story. It's not new. It's widespread and it's just overlooked in favour of focussing on the behaviour of the rich shiny people in high places.
I'm furious that the plight of these poor working class girls is just not a good enough story to really highlight or actually do something about.

The grooming of minors by sexual predators is not a racial or religious issue.

Precisely. Spot on, keepingquiet!
That is Aveline's point.

So why was race and religion the reason why the grooming gangs in the UK were not investigated and the children they abused blamed?

We are all aware now thst the decision not to investigate these grooming gangs was because some of the Police and some social workers were frightened of being seen as racist.

You are quite right. Race and religion should not be a factor in the investigations and possible prosecutions.

Thank God for a sensible reply Keepingquiet
Sexual predators have no special colour, no age group, no social status, no particular religion
They come in all shapes and sizes, as we know royalty and religious leaders are no different to the drunk down the road when it comes to being a sexual predator
Makes better journalism though, better stirring, better pointing the finger, better political ammunition.

That's not the point. We know they do.

The point was that some abusers were not investigated and instead the child victims blamed and told it was a 'lifestyle choice' simply because the Police and Authorities were frightened of being thought to be racist.

Reading a lot on X about Rupert Lowe and his efforts to get this scandal back into the headlines. We are not hearing much about the government’s inquiry lately, are they hoping it will just go away?

Susieq62 Wed 11-Feb-26 15:59:25

Have none of you read Casdon and her informative account? This is what is going on , be assured.
Work is being done but, as usual, not making the headlines of certain newspapers.
The majority of domestic violence is done by white males, known to their victims. At least one woman a week dies at the hands of an abuser regardless of age, colour, race, ethnicity, economic background.
Do not denigrate Jess Philips who has spent so much of her life helping such victims . The real issue is MEN in positions of power and authority who disregard women. Visit a refuge and find out what is going on across all sectors of our society. Even the rich are abusers and abused.

Greciangirl Wed 11-Feb-26 15:57:56

As regards the Epstein victims:

Those young mainly teenage girls.
Where are they now? And where were their parents during that time.?
None of those issues appear to be mentioned.

Someone, somewhere must have knowledge of them.
I would dearly love to know how or why those girls were enticed into Epsteins clutches.
Were they imprisoned, or able to leave?
So many unanswered questions.
And will we ever know the truth?
I doubt it very much.

Jess20 Wed 11-Feb-26 15:25:30

Yes, it's happening in every part of our society, especially where there's a power differential. It's not just the rich and powerful, it's anyone anywhere. Giselle Pellicot bravely threw light on horrific abuse and there have been cases here in the UK where even social services seemed unable to grasp the level of abuse in the relationships young women and girls were dragged into by grooming gangs. It's time it was called out and it's made obvious to the perpetrators that this sort of behaviour is not acceptable, even if other people seem to be getting away with it. There's loads of openly misogynistic material online supporting disgusting attitudes towards women, it's truly shocking and it normalizes abusive behaviour for it's followers. Time to call it out and I wish the brave women doing so, well. Let's hope it gets some results now.

Maremia Wed 11-Feb-26 15:14:49

Elon Musk? Seriously? Both he and his brother are in the Files.

Maremia Wed 11-Feb-26 15:13:49

The Epstein white men still run the USA.

Coconut Wed 11-Feb-26 15:12:09

Evidently an MP, Rupert Lowe, is chasing this, will do private prosecutions if he has to and Elon Musk will fund it !
It defies any logic that this disgusting, cruel and totally abhorrent situation has been allowed to go unchecked for all these years, what is wrong with this world we live in ??

winterwhite Wed 11-Feb-26 15:09:19

Well, the media love to blame ‘social services’ for the grooming gangs and do so at every opportunity. No government has yet responded by putting more money into children’s social care, parenting support and local policing.

I don’t think anything new will be learned from a 3-yr review costing £65 million. That’s called kicking the can down the road.

The Epstein victims are historic so to speak. That is not to belittle them, but here in the UK we should concentrate on the problems under our own eyes.

ArthurAskey Wed 11-Feb-26 15:01:52

Labour are complicit so will do nothing as they need the Muslim votes. People like Jess Phillips is a disgrace.

eazybee Wed 11-Feb-26 15:00:55

Perhaps because the history of Europe has shown us all too clearly that minorities - social or religious - have often been wrongly accused of being the perpetrators of such crimes, or of crime in general.

Rubbish.
All the more reason to publish the figures and put lay this accusation to rest.
One reason given is that ethnicity of those accused of offences is not recorded, whether by design or accident has not been clarified.
And if you are elected by criticising the performance of the previous government, you have to be ready to show immediately that you have plans in place and the ability to implement them speedily.
The enquiry into grooming gangs has still has not begun, (intended for March) and if it is anything like other government enquiries little will be achieved, apart for fat salaries for those conducting it.

Sago

The media loves anything that will take the focus away from such stories.

All in the name of social cohesion.

I tend not to post on these threads as it ends up in a ridiculous slanging match.

Under the Freedom of Information it has been asked what is the breakdown of sexual crime in the UK by ethnicity.

The answer is that these figures are not available and that it is only the ethnicity of the victims that is recorded.🤔.

I have written to ask my MP why.

I am still awaiting a reply.

Perhaps because the history of Europe has shown us all too clearly that minorities - social or religious - have often been wrongly accused of being the perpetrators of such crimes, or of crime in general.

I am not saying that Muslim men do not sexually abuse minors, but I am saying that not all Muslim men do so, anymore than all Christians of one or all denominations do, or Jews, or Roma or athiests.

Let us for Heaven's sake not repeat the mistakes of the past that assumed certain crimes to be the peculiarity of a certain race or religion.

No good comes of equating crimes to a person's background.

Nor do I see any need or good in publishing the etnicity of the victims of any crime.

After all, every woman is potentially a target of a rapist, as all small girls are of men who pervertedly see girl children as sexual objects, all boys of homosexual male predators, or of women who like little boys in the wrong way, and all adult men and women who prefer their own sex to the opposite one are potentially at risk of being abused by someone of the same sex who gets off on violence.

And the majority of sexual abusers in this country are not Muslim men.

I remember my friend and I being very keen to take up the offer of a German man who promised he could find us jobs as au pairs on the Continent. He seemed fine as he was in charge of a group of German students on a trip over here.

My friend's parents were horrified and said he'd be part of the White Slave Trade and refused to let her go. My parents weren't keen for me to go without her, perhaps we had a lucky escape, who knows?

Esmay

Whingey is right.

Aged about 15 a man began to chat pleasantly to me in a London Park .
He was good looking ,slim and well spoken-devastatingly charming in fact

I had older friends , who worked att Biba and I was meeting them for lunch .

When I got up to leave he said ,wait a minute you are a really lovely girl .
How would you like an apartment of your own and a very generous allowance from me ?
First of all ,we'll have a holiday on my yacht.

I didn't know what to say .

I was initially hugely flattered then, a sort of panic set in as I realised what he wanted .

I told my friends and they said we have them in Biba .Sometimes they bring their girlfriends and spend a lot on them and sometimes they ask if we'd like a flat and money.

Yes you are both right, however you were not likely to have been plied with drugs and alcohol then passed around dozens of men to be raped.

It is an ongoing problem with men from ethnic minorities, another rape of a 13 year old girl at an hotel in Hull by an Iranian migrant and his British accomplice.
It goes on and on.

Anyone that cannot see that the amount of these men men committing these crimes is disproportionate to the Muslim population is either in denial or as disgraceful as the politicians , Police and Home Office that want to cover up the scale of the problem.

All in the name of social cohesion.

nanna8 Wed 11-Feb-26 11:48:32

I had a similar experience at the age of 13 in London when this man ,who was about 35 or so ,started to kiss me and drool over me and stick his tongue in my mouth whilst trapping my arms. I managed to get free and I don’t think I have ever run to fast in my life. I hid in a doorway for a while. I never told anyone and that is half the problem - I am willing to bet there are far more abused children than we even dream of.

Find an Inquiry which has been set up with any more speed once the decision had been made and the first chair rejected, and I will be inclined to listen. Blaming this government for the failures of the last is not fair or logical, however frustrated you are.

Opal Wed 11-Feb-26 10:59:22

Meanwhile, whilst the Government have failed to progress an enquiry, Rupert Lowe MP has started his own with public donations, which started last week and is ongoing. Some of the testimonies are abjectly bloody awful. And yes, it IS a racism issue, pakistani men are to blame, and the authorities turned a blind eye for fear of being called "racist". Follow it on social media. It's STILL happening in our communities.

Aveline Wed 11-Feb-26 10:49:41

Lots of talk. Not much action.

Casdon Wed 11-Feb-26 10:16:14

He was not as far as reported pat of a grooming gang Primrose53, there are rape cases carried out by individuals every day which are reported?

For anybody who wants to know exactly what is happening with the grooming gangs inquiry (AI search):

Key Developments (Dec 2025 – Feb 2026)

Chair and Panel Appointment: On December 9, 2025, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood appointed Baroness Anne Longfield to chair the inquiry, supported by panellists Zoe Billingham and Eleanor Kelly.

Draft Terms of Reference: Draft terms were published in December 2025, outlining a three-year inquiry with a £65m budget, focusing on "systemic failures".

Scope and Focus: The inquiry is set to explicitly examine the backgrounds of offenders, including ethnicity and religion, and investigate whether authorities failed to act due to fears regarding community cohesion.

Police Investigation (Operation Beaconport): Parallel to the inquiry, the National Crime Agency (NCA) has launched Operation Beaconport, which is reviewing previously closed cases and has already flagged more than 1,200 cases for potential reinvestigation.

Survivor Concerns & Recent Controversy: Following the resignation of several members of the survivors' liaison panel in late 2025, the new leadership is working to rebuild trust.

Allegations of Police Involvement: In February 2026, claims were raised regarding a grooming victim being abused by a serving South Yorkshire Police officer, with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) involved.

Legal Action & Data Concerns: Concerns have been raised by MPs and activists regarding the potential destruction of court records (CourtsDesk system), which some fear could hinder the inquiry.

Scottish Review: A separate 18-month review of evidence on grooming gangs in Scotland was announced in February 2026, stopping short of a full statutory inquiry at this stage.

The politicians are not resting on their laurels, but there is obviously a communication issue if people aren’t aware of what is happening.

Aveline Wed 11-Feb-26 10:04:57

Re the possibility of keeping more than one story at the same time. My concern is that the mainstream media have constantly overlooked the grooming gangs and their appalling record but are having a lovely time following the Epstein story.
