Good morning from Bristol; I haven’t looked out yet, just hope it’s not so wet.
Yesterday’s coffee in church was well attended. Obviously there is a need. I carried on sewing that quilt, but also started on the jumper I want to make and a beanie.
Today, church and more of the same. Some Olympic curling, possibly other things too.
Flowers 🌺 to those is distress, especially md, fgt, and trust that bells’ germs are vacating their hapless hostess,!

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday was a laundry day, I washed everything that wasn’t nailed down. I may be forced to get the iron out today.

I’ll walk down to Mass, DH has an appointment at the hospital eye clinic which means he must be nearing the top of the list for cataract surgery.

This afternoon will be spent crocheting and listening to an audiobook.

Good morning, wet and chilly here in south Glos, yet another wet day ahead.

I got very cold yesterday afternoon standing around outside for the playground development meeting which didn’t help. Despite a leaflet drop to every house on the estate only one person bothered to turn up 🤬
It was cold, wet and windy which didn’t help but it was very disappointing.
I was so cold I couldn’t get warm when I got home so I had a hot bath and was in bed with a hot drink and hot water bottle by 7pm.
Today I must do the ironing and have a tidy around. DDIL has texted to say Gone With the Wind is on BBC R4 Sounds at 3pm so I will enjoy listening to it while crocheting this afternoon.

Church today. I'm not a confirmed Christian but I like to go to church now and again.

Later, I am going to get my heavy duty boots on and do a wee bit of digging. To get the ball rolling on the vegetable plot. Then watch some Olympics on the telly.

Good morning from Malta where we have a fine day with a high of 18°C. Possibility of showers later.

Spent all morning cleaning and doing laundry yesterday then sat on the sofa and dozed off. I still need to do the ironing, I don’t know why I put it off as it never takes long.

DGS2 seems much better, thank heaven. DD3 sent a video of the two of them playing and he definitely looks more like himself, though still coughing.

I’m still coughing also so think I had better give Mass a miss as I don’t want to inflict my germs on anyone else.

So a quiet day for me. I might go for a walk just to get some fresh air, otherwise it will be a day cuddling the cat! Thank you for your lovely comments about Winston, he is the most pleasant natured cat I have ever met, and I’ve loved an awful lot of cats in my time.

Hoping madeleine and MD are feeling better today and all of you who are under the weather.

Good morning from Durham. Still dark, but of course it’s chilly with rain forecast later - it never changes.
Lovely afternoon yesterday with both DGSs - they enjoyed everything. DGS1 stayed over and is still asleep, but we have an early start to get to an early swimming lesson 30+ miles away. He’ll go home after that and I’ll call at DD2’s as she has laundry for me.
I’ve 2 viewings on my rental house this afternoon, so that’s another drive in the opposite direction. Not knocking it, as I’m keen on selling, rather than renting it out again, with everything that entails.

Hope to read better news of those GNs feeling unwell or looking after their unwell loved ones today.

Well it might be a little drier by saturday and I need to do some jobs on the allotment. I am glad I grew winter manure greens, they will have protected the soil and at least the worms will have thrived and multiplied. I made wide paths covered in bark last year and can reach into all the beds. Soil structure is so fragile

Bed base number 2 done, nothing to remove from there and space to spare. I also bottomed the bedroom while at it. Lots of rain means less spring cleaning this year, everywhere is done

Good Morning everyone from a damp but dry - at present - central south coast. We are still getting flood warnings lower down the road but we are high enough to miss them, unless there were to be a tsunami.

I just went in the freezer to extract some fish for lunch today, and found my missing frozen garlic cubes hiding under the pack of fish. Very clever hiding place which I had missed when looking for it!

Just finished reading the Andrew Lownie book, "Entitled", about the Yorks but found myself skipping through a lot of it. There has been so much in the media about it all and I find it sleazy and unpleasant in equal measure. I really feel sorry for the King and Prince of Wales trying to steer the monarchy through it and with the Montecito sideshow adding to the mix. It is a nightmare.

Good morning from a wet Torbay. I hope it eases before I have to walk to church. DH is kindly accompanying me as I’ve agreed to play the piano for the early service and my hymn books are heavy!

A disappointing turnout, RosesandLilac, but no doubt those very people would be the first to complain if the facility were to be lost!

I’m glad your DGS2 is recovering and hope you will soon, Bellasnana, also madeleine. There are some horrid viruses around.

Good morning from a deliciously calm, dark, rainy Cornwall where the town is still asleep.

A long visit from my 10-year-old granddaughter yesterday. She came fresh from her pony hack, having changed into oversized top and cosy leggings. I thought how beautiful she looked with her long, glossy, raven hair and freckles sprinkled across her nose. 😀 Next week she has a private lesson on the north coast and would like me to go and watch, which will be lovely. She spent the afternoon under my heated faux fur throw, which we call The Wolf, reading Pony magazine and watching Sort Your Life Out. Once she'd gone I watched the Winter Olympics, a great joy as I love all things icy and snowy. 😊

A long phone conversation with my ex about my dad's oil paintings which he has kindly stored in his attic for years. We can't remember everything that's up there but know there's a beautiful one of Welsh valley rooftops and a huge steam train painting. The plan is to get together with our sons and decide what to sell. We'll involve our blind daughter, remotely, as well, as she has a brilliant visual imagination and was close to her grandpa, and may want to keep a painting for sentimental reasons.

Today I have a big sewing project to complete for a friend so I'll make myself stay in for that, except for a coffee break at Wetherspoons at some point.

Morning Mick, morning All from a, you guessed it, wet and getting wetter corner of Somerset.

Did little yesterday other than nurse a cold which thankfully is calming down. Mr C peeled a mountain of carrots and we both enjoyed carrot and coriander soup, the extent of culinary activity.

A little ironing today, move some laundry round and that will be about it.

I find I’m cross in your behalf roses. Disappointing isn’t a strong enough word.

With thoughts for all with mountains to climb and a hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Yesterday we had an unexpected visit from DD1 and Son in Law. We spent a very pleasant couple of hours with them. They bought over a gift for DH , it is his birthday today.
Today Our other two daughters and families will pop in for the same reason.
DH and I will be collecting Mother in Law and she is treating DH and I to lunch at a local restaurant.

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a very dark, still morning in North Yorkshire ass far as I can tell. I am struggling at the moment. My throat is now so painful that even having a drink hurts, and nothing tastes good, so not even cheered by a decent cup of coffee. Basically drinking water and occasional juice, Ah well who knows I may come out of this with a very slim and elegant figure!! Shant hold my breath.

Yesterday was a rough day. I couldnt draw a deep breath, and my sides and back ached so much from coughing. There was nothing that I could really do apart from putting my dressing gown on and sitting up for a little while, as lying in bed for a long time is absolutely the worst position for my back,and it tends to remind me of that regularly. Moving about set me off coughing and nothing helped whatever I did.

I opened some soup which the tin told me was chicken and vegetable, but it could have been anything from what I could taste. Managed to just eat some gooseberry fool and some mousse which I could manage to swallow, and I may go mad and eat some rice pudding today. Being the weekend it was no good even trying to ring the surgery, but maybe tomorrow I might try and get seen for some antibiotics.

Due to all this I didnt even feel up to doing anything, Couldnt concentrate on reading or looking at the Makaton, which I had planned to do. Every so often looked at a bit of the olympics, and then later of course there was the rugby, which I watched some of, but no singing the anthems as normal. At times I looked in a desultery way at the local paper, but that was it. Sent and received a couple of text to friends, but coughing too much to even speak to anyone on the phone. Oh well the weather did not look too good, so I wasnt missing any sunshine, but oh I missed going to see more snowdrops. I know I am feeling rough if I cant summon up the energy to go and look at a garden. Well at least I am grateful to have a warm bed and be in the dry. Havent had much sleep so hopefully I might drift off later. At least I can listen to radio 3 and 4, my greatest help at the moment. Hurray for lovely music and I can always have J S Bach to lighten my mood. Havent even looked to see who is on Private Passions but it will cheer me anyway.

Mick, hope you get to weave your way round the olympics to the cycling. Thanks for your good wishes GrandMattie, RoseandLilac, how maddening that people didnt come to the meeting - and you can bet your bottom dollar that when anything happens they will be the ones moaning about the choice! Well I am going to get some water and back to bed as I have started coughing again.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where I think it is going to be a dry day. I am not holding my breath. At the moment it looks very gloomy.

Yesterday I did an early shop at Aldi followed by a general tidy up. I’ve noticed that my Dyson vacuum cleaner doesn’t hold a charge for very long these days. As I’ve never actually liked it - it’s always been very fussy about what it picks up - I shall think about replacing it. In the afternoon I made a cheese bacon and onion quiche, some of which I ate for supper and the rest will go into the freezer.

Today I’m going out for lunch with DD and SiL, and it has been suggested we have a walk afterwards but I can imagine it being very wet and mucky everywhere. We’ll see.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where the sky is just beginning to lighten.

Yesterday I went for an early dawn walk in the park, just a few dog walkers about but a lot of noisy birds in the trees and on the water.
I came back to a long phone chat with my sister and then quite a bit of sorting and tidying followed by reading my magazines. After dinner, I watched the snowboarders in Cortina competing in Big Air, amazing what some folk can do and great potential for breaking your neck I'd have thought!

Today, more of the same except no walk, too many little jobs I need to do. I'll hope to watch the women's Big Air at some point especially as we have a potential medal winner.

I just thought I'd lost my post...a full screen ad for gambling flashed up and I thought I'd never get rid of it. I don't think that's what we want on GN, thank you!

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s clear with just a few clouds. It’s a bit cooler this morning, but a mild day is forecast. Yesterday was mostly wet, some local roads near the river are flooded. I walked to the post office when the rain wasn’t too heavy, then spent the day alternating between housework and watching the Winter Olympics. My back was very achy, probably from sitting down too much.
DD2 will call in this morning but DD1 and her DH are busy building a very large wardrobe in the 10 year old’s bedroom. There were 44 boxes of assorted parts!

roses that is so disappointing but I hope the improvements to the playground are well received when finished.

bellasnana I’m pleased you are feeling better and that your dgs2 is recovering.

madeleine I hope that another quiet day indoors has worked wonders and that you are also feeling better today.

I hope that your DiL is slowly recovering marydoll, no doubt it will take some time, but the red lip gloss is a good sign! I hope that dollie is ok.

Yesterday was spent quietly, doing some housework until it was time to go to dds. Dgs2 was delighted to see me and brought me lots of toy food. Dgs1 gave me a quick hug then went back to drawing Godzilla, his latest obsession. He has done a fabulous drawing and I've commissioned one for me. Dd and dsil weren't late and, once dgs2 was in bed, I watched the Winter Olympics. I, like many of you, love it all. Dd gave me soup to bring home so that's lunch today taken care of. Ds messaged a lot last night too which was nice.
I had a good night last night. I was up a couple of times but got straight back to sleep. This morning I will go to Aldi as I've run out of stuff. I have no other plans but dd said she would nip in. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a dark and damp Black Country, where at least it is not raining for now!

It rained non stop all day yesterday. We walked to the pub at around 7.30 and luckily it had stopped by then. We had a lovely birthday meal, I had the Comfit Duck, MrJ had Pigs cheek, we shared ice-cream for dessert.

MrJ has an appointment at the Hospital at 12 noon for removal of a suspicious lump on his head. They originally offered 7am, but he asked if there was a later one. It seems that the NHS is working it's way through a backlog by having appointments so early on a Sunday.

So I will spend an anxious few hours hoping all is ok.

We had fun playing with the stairlift yesterday. Our DGS thinks it looks scary but our DD said it looked like a roller coaster albeit a little slower.
The usual game of Scrabble with friends this afternoon then roast beef for dinner.

Good morning from a presently dry Stockport.
I have developed a cough which is tiring and annoying.
Nothing on the cards today except a roast chicken dinner to make.
I don’t do a roast often now and I hope I can enjoy some of it, my appetite has gone .
A delivery from Next of a camisole top which I hope looks ok.
I am going to a wedding in two weeks and what to wear has consumed me.
I am not an important guest, my GD is a bridesmaid and I am invited because of that fact.
I don’t want to buy anything expensive as I won’t wear it again.
I have a loose silk “ kimono “ type top in cream and navy so I have ordered a lace trimmed camisole , I have new navy trousers so I live in hope they all match and look decent.
I hope all unwell and carers have a decent day and we all enjoy Sunday.

Morning all from a grey but currently dry West Oxfordshire.

I’ve just waved elder son and granddaughter off. They have to be back in London for a lacrosse lesson.

I’m back in bed but will get up soon as I will go to church at one of the smaller Benefice churches.

What to have for dinner? There’s a plateful of food left over from our guinea fowl lunch yesterday and a tiny piece of Sachertorte.

Talking about cakes - it is my turn to take a cake to my Craft afternoon tomorrow over the road. I am taking my car for its first service in Oxford so will be out all morning. So, I will defrost a chocolate porridge cake (better than it sounds!) and some chocolate icing and hopefully have it ready to go before bedtime. I have to leave for Oxford in the morning by 8 am!
