Good morning from a damp Bristol. It’s forecast to rain all day.
The WI committee went ok last evening, but I wish there was less chat and more business so it finished earlier. Most of them meet almost daily.
A plasterer is coming today to repair the damage left by a smaller new night storage heater in early December. I’ll then be able to paint over it and make good.
Sewing, knitting, Olympics today.
Prayers for the FGTs, md’s DiL and any one in distress.
Care diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Lancashire. Still damp and windy but even just those slightly higher temperatures make life a bit easier. There are signs of life in the garden. I hope a late frost isn't going to kill them.

Morning Mick, morning All. Another wet day forecast for our corner of Somerset

Breakfast was good yesterday. Our furniture researching trip proved that theory and practice are indeed different. What had seemed good on line wasn’t in the flesh. It also saved us a small fortune ! We came home after deciding on just one tiny change.

I don’t think I’ve slept. Passed the time reading. Thankfully it’s routine today, grocery delivery, dust removal and after lunch the excitement of a trip to the tip. That’ll do.

Thinking of everyone with mountains to climb. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

Good morning from Malta where the forecast predicts a cloudy day with isolated showers and a high of 14°C.

I enjoyed the company of DGS2 yesterday, he’s utterly sweet when he’s on his own. Never stops chatting and asking questions, he’s interested in everything.

He fell asleep on me at around 2.15, one of life’s greatest joys for me is having a sleeping child in my arms so I savoured every minute. 🥰

His mum arrived at 3pm to collect him and as brother was asleep in the car, she scooped my little chap up and off they went.

Today is a national holiday thanks to St Paul being shipwrecked here in 60AD, so it feels like another Sunday.

I’m supposed to be meeting my friend for coffee later but we haven’t set a time yet. Hope it’s not too early as I’m enjoying lazing in bed!

I’m sorry the weather is so miserable for some of you. We are very lucky here on the whole. It is definitely easier to be cheerful when you see the sun most days.

Hoping for better news from MD and her DiL, and hope your are on the mend madeleine. I resorted to Panadol cold and flu which definitely helped me sleep better.

Have a good day all.🤗

Good morning from a dark and damp Black Country, where it is not raining at the moment, but is forecast!

Line dancing yesterday with my friend, it is a popular class and the room is full.

I have my Financial Advisor coming to the house for 10am. He was supposed to be here 2 weeks ago, but on the way he was involved in a car accident, so it was cancelled.

MrJ has an appointment at 10am for an ECG after his aborted Hospital appointment Sunday. They have re-scheduled the procedure for 2 weeks time.

At 12.30 I am meeting DGD2 (17) for lunch in between her classes. So will be looking forward to hearing about her trip to Gambia.

Brother and SIL are visiting Mum today.

Wishing you all the best day possible. FGT's flowers

Good morning from a dark, rainy but calm Cornwall.

My phone froze yesterday. Just around the corner from my home is a computer shop run by the loveliest, most helpful young man I've ever come across. He's helped me several times with my phone and laptop and never charged me much. I insisted on giving him some cash yesterday. He's been in business here for years and I've no idea how he makes a living! The customer ahead of me had spilt cider on his laptop and was feeling silly about it and was assured by the young man that it happened frequently. 😁

My friend came for the final fitting of his Boro jacket. He's so chuffed, you'd think it was Dior! 🤣🤣 He sorted through my vast collection of denim pockets cut from jeans and chose two for the front of the garment. Now all I need to do is sew its myriad patches all together as it's only tacked so far, and then line it with one of his shirts.

This evening I'm silversmithing: apparently we'll learn how to impress patterns into metal through a rolling machine. I'll take some heavy duty lace and see how that works for printing.

This morning I'll have a walk on our beach in the rain and inhale some ozone. 😁

Grandmabatty Tue 10-Feb-26 06:26:29

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and wet. Bellasnana that's sounds wonderful- a child asleep in your arms. GrandMattie fingers crossed the plasterer turns up.
Yesterday dgs2 was hard work. He is very thrawn and would not get dressed for nursery. It took ages to get him ready and both of us were cross before he would get in the car. (Minus jacket) The same stubbornness came out again afterwards. 🙄 In the afternoon, I worked in the school library for a while then took the boys home. My feet began to be really painful in the early evening which wasn't helped by dgs2 creating a mini waterfall in the bathroom! He did come to tell me there was water on the floor. It was also all over the wall too. He likes to play with water in the sink and is usually careful but not yesterday. Dgs1 just gets on playing football. They are so different.
Today I'll bring them to my house for breakfast then take them to school. Then back home to potter. My feet have subsided a bit, thank goodness. A quiet day until I pick them up again. Have a good day all.

Ashcombe Tue 10-Feb-26 06:35:37

Good morning from Torbay where it’s not actually raining at the moment, following several hours of it from lunchtime onwards yesterday as was expected. One good thing is that the council workers cleared the drains yesterday so the water can now empty into those instead of creating enormous puddles!

I shall be going to Props today which I enjoy but for the chilly atmosphere of our theatre backstage. Lots of layers required as I feel the cold easily, being on blood thinners.

Thinking of the FGT’s and MD’s DiL and others who are unwell. Have as good a day as circumstances allow. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from s Somerset, rain again today

Gosh, I was busy yesterday morning, its amazing how the day `happens` it ranged from bed changing to laundry to cutting all my roses.

I don`t prune them low anymore, any cuts are close to a bud but the aim is smaller more rain -resistant flowers and fuller, taller bushes, about 4-5 feet tall. They are in front of my public-side windows so give me privacy, enough light and are very beautiful for everyone to enjoy

I ordered a lumie sunset lamp, I used to have one and missed falling asleep to the fading sun, I treated myself. That will be arriving today.

Another day without plans but I need to take more exercise so will go for a walk

Have a good day

Melanie61 Tue 10-Feb-26 06:57:33

Good morning from Sheffield

I’ve not looked outside yet but I’m not holding my breath that the rain has stopped
I hope to get out for a walk later this morning

It’s my birthday so we are going to Nando’s for tea. They have recently opened a new one near us. I love a Nando’s . Not fine dining but I like it. My DH jokes that he knows how to treat me to the high life

I think that my 3 DC will call at some point today, not all at the same time. They will call when they have a moment in their busy lives. I’m just grateful they call at all

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark, still morning in North Yorkshire. No sound of rain so far, is the best I can say.

Well , I have found the way to be successful every day! Simple, just make the goals less and less . So having diminished my goals to getting the bed changed and getting hair washed and showered, I award myself the gold medal of success- or in my case the gold medal of a decent cup of coffee that I could actually taste quite well! It took me ages to complete, and I didnt reach the dizzying heights of getting dressed, staying in my dressing gown, but at the end of all my efforts, I felt much better to be clean and decent and my lovely clean bed was bliss to fall into.

The effort it took to do these simple tasks helped me to accept the reality that in no way was I ready or able to go to the Makaton class, and it would not have been fair to spread my germs or have me coughing all the time - although it might have improved my learning as I would have probably had to sign most of my comments. I sent off an email to the tutor to apologize and hope that it wont be too long before I can get onto another class.

It took me until lunchtime to reach my goals, and I felt quite exhausted by my efforts, but I then tried to collect up all rubbish and got it all tied up and then ventured outside for the first time for some time, and got it all put ready in the bin in the shed, and hoping that it will all be picked up, and that they dont have a new crew on, who dont note that they have to pick mine up and leave me some bags today. So fingers crossed.

It is so good to be able to actually see an improvement in things, and even more so when there is that cheering feeling that everything, from bed to kitchen to clothes and me, is clean. I am still coughing and things are an effort, but my throat feels better and the simple joy of being able to taste my coffee and sit here creaking but reasonably alert is a step in the right direction. However I am, in a way, glad I still feel weary and lacking in energy, as usually the minute I can manage things I start to do too much. There are many jobs and much tidying up that could be done, but I shall try and ignore that and take things easy, or I will be back in bed, which I dont want to happen.

Today I need to go through the fridge and see what is good and what wants throwing out. Hate wasting good food, but am not so stupid as to risk any very out of date stuff whilst I am not 100%. Shouldnt be a lot to throw out, but it will be a chance to give the shelves a bit of a clean, before I get to the shops and start to fill the shelves with new stuff. Well it may be a step too far today and I will just do the throwing out, will have to see how much energy I have. I bought two pots of hyacinths that were going very cheaply, and put them in the kitchen in deep pots of water to get them going, and then of course was ill and didnt do anything with them. One has grown rather leggy, the blue one, and the other is fine, but both were rather leaning one way to the light, as I wasnt around, turning them every day, but turned them round yesterday and it has done the trick as they are both much more upright now. I can see the flowers forming too, so in the next couple of days , they will be giving me so much pleasure, and I shall put them in two rooms so that the perfume fills the flat , and reminds me that , no matter how rubbish the weather is, spring is on the way.

I have watched a bit of the olympics , read a little, and listened to a lot of radio 3 and 4. Keeping away from much of the news and such things I have been cheered by much wonderful music, and some interesting talks on 4. The tv is brilliant at being able to see wonderful gardens, and "visit" many places that I had hoped to go to in real life, but if there was only a choice of that and radio, then radio would win hands down for me every time. It can still transport me to many places in the world, but using my own imagination. The backdrops to plays that I invent are miles better than any they could afford, and to have the wonderful orchestras and players cheering my day, yet not stopping me from working is great.

My son is adopted, and so it was a very big change in my life, from being in a senior position in a firm, running things, having meetings , contact with many people and places, to suddenly being at home with a small child. Of course, I adored him and much was wonderful, but I had to find my way to make my own timetable and cope with the lack of adult conversation and time for a lot of things. So I began my habit of looking at the radio times, for the following day, and picking out things that I would hope to hear. So naturally there was a routine for my sons needs, and many things that had to be done constantly. But what I was able to do was to look at the time of a concert or play, and then make that the time to iron or make beds or whatever that allowed me to listen to that. It worked well, helping me to feel in charge of my life and yet not into a rigid at 10am hoover sort of thing.

Things in life change and you work out your best way of coping, but the radio has accompanied so much of my life, given me much pleasure, taught me a lot, and I still attempt to finish noisy jobs before the concert or the play begins. In my old house, I had a garden shed and a greenhouse and my portable radio kept me company, repotting things or planting seeds or whatever, and there was no one else around to hear my comments on the news or disagreeing with the speaker about something or other.

So here I am, many years later still looking in the radio times and making my choices for the day, and of course the wonderful Bach before 7 is a great moment to give a better start to the day. I just pray that no whizz kid decides to take over the programmes that matter to me or cancel them. I dont care what concoctions they put on other stations, so long as they leave me my radio 3 and 4. I do venture to other programmes at times, and always used to listen to local radio programmes, especially when driving patients to hospital, etc., as it was the quickest warning of accidents, or road closures or traffic jams, which enabled me to take divertions and still get my patients to their appointments in time. So fingers crossed I am on the mend, and am interested in whats happening around me now.

Hope you have a successful trip into Bicester today Mick. Hope your plasterer turns up on time GrandMattie. To get that job out of the way would be good , and hopefully might encourage your Teflon man to get his finger out - so to speak - and get the many jobs needed at least begun.Mum2three if you have some old net curtains around or fine fleece, keep it by the door and if the weather looks dodgy or your forecast is for frost then cover your plants with the fleece. You would be surprised at how much protection you can get from doing that, and then as the morning warms up take them off. It may not feel so at the time Cornergran but making the effort to go out and coming back with nothing is a success, as you have saved a lot of money, and now might abandon that idea and something else might come to mind which will be a better solution. Hope you might get a nap this afternoon to make up for the poor night.

Wishing everyone a better day today , hope you all manage at least one goal of the day, whether that is ringing a friend you havent seen for a while, or getting that annoying job done at last. Be kind and treat yourselves to some flowers or a plant if you havent got anything at the moment to remind you spring is on the way.

Good morning, it’s pouring with rain here in south Glos but supposedly will stop by 07.30. We’ll see.
Then start again at 12.30.
I met up with a friend for the morning dog walk yesterday, had a good natter and the dogs got on together.
Didn’t do much for the rest of the day, in a cba mood 🫣
No idea what’s happening today, nothing planned and I will probably do some painting at some point. I think the incessant gloomy weather is starting to get to me, when will it ever stop raining?
Best wishes to you all 🌹

I have had little sleep, plagued by stomach cramps 🤷‍♀️

Getting The Imp sorted for his 8am school start,

I shall go back to bed for an hour, carpet cleaner here at 9.30 🙋‍♀️

Gagagran Tue 10-Feb-26 07:12:22

Good Morning everyone from yet another wet start here on the south coast.

It was an interesting visit with DH to the audiologist yesterday. Upon examining his ears she found them full of wax and very hairy - looked like a birds nest on her screen. So until he has the wax removed, she is unable to do a hearing test. New appointment made for 3 March and when we got home, he found online that our local pharmacy does wax removal so today he is off to get that done!

A quick visit to Tesco for top up bits, calling at the library to return some books and collect a reserved one and that may be the day's events. I do have some recorded TV programmes to watch too.

Kindest thoughts to all GNs struggling with worries, pain or sorrow. May the day bring some ease, calm and peace for us all.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy but I think it’s dry. No idea what the weather will do today but no doubt rain will be involved.
Happy Birthday melanie I hope you have a lovely day - enjoy your Nando’s!

grandmabatty I hope your feet are less painful today and that your dgs2 is in a better mood!

Hoping that md’s daughter in law is a little better today, and thinking of her family at this worrying time.

marzipan you are so talented! I hope the lace pattern on silver works out well this evening.

Thinking of all those who are in pain, or waiting for medical appointments and thinking of their families too.

Have the best day possible folks.

Greyduster Tue 10-Feb-26 07:15:21

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire and it looks dry. Yesterday we had a wet start - I had a steady drive over to the gym in the rain. It dried up later so that I was able to go out and do a few tidy up jobs in the garden. We actually saw the sun for a few minutes. The lawn is very spongy at the moment so I confined myself to the patio area. I didn’t get the inside of my car cleaned - not a biggie. Later I stepped outside to walk down to the supermarket and noticed a small box on the doorstep. It hadn’t been opened and so I went looking for the address which was in a cul de sac round the corner but the house was tucked away so I nearly missed it. The addresses couldn’t have been more different so whoever was delivering it obviously couldn’t be bothered to look for the house and just tossed it onto my step and left! The lady it was intended for was disgusted with them and grateful to me as it was a piece of jewellery she had ordered for her GD.

School this afternoon. It may be too wet to walk there though.

Have the best day you can, folks

Greyduster Tue 10-Feb-26 07:16:33

Happy Birthday, Melanie!💐🎂. Have a lovely day.

Good morning from a damp W Kent where DH and I have the pleasure of a visit to the dentist. I am joining him at his dentist as mine has moved out of town and would mean a drive to get to him. I am feeling nervous but saying nothing, best to just get through it I think. Later we have the U3A monthly meeting so I am focusing on that.
Happy birthday Melanie
Glad you got the bed changed Madeleine
Best wishes to all

ginny Tue 10-Feb-26 07:41:07

Good morning. It is dull misty and damp outside .
Happy Birthday Melanie.
I enjoyed a baking day yesterday , gingerbread, cappuccino and chocolate cakesand they are in the freezer for various occasions.
I am meeting with friends for lunch today and this evening it is choir practice. Rest of the day will be housework and art/craft.
Wishing everyone a good day with a smile along the way.

harrigran Tue 10-Feb-26 07:43:30

Good morning from the NE where we have more of this dreary weather. Dark all day yesterday and had to have the lights on just to fill the washer and make a cup of tea.
Got three loads of washing done, dried and ironed.
SIL is travelling to the UK today, just for a week but will visit on Thursday.
Thoughts are with Marydoll's DIL.
Happy birthday Melanie.

Gingster Tue 10-Feb-26 07:49:04

Good morning all .

Today I’ll change the bed sheets, clean the upstairs bathroom and then go to DD’s.

No bridge for me today as I have to be back in time to pickup DGD from school.

GG I hope your stomache cramps abate. Try to grab a nap sometime.
GAGagran , my Dh ‘s ears were just the same and our local pharmacy does the clearing out service too. His new expensive hearing aids are brilliant and worth every penny. Good luck 🤞.

Happy birthday Melanie. 💐.

Wishing you all a gentle day 🌱

Georgesgran Tue 10-Feb-26 07:50:13

Good morning from Durham. It’s not raining - yet! Birthday greetings to those celebrating today.
Yesterday did not go to plan and the ‘traumatic’ dental appointment will be next Monday. It’s a changed practice - new staff, private charges and after a quick examination, we just went through the procedure, again. I was almost disappointed as I was quite psyched up for it - plus so many GNs had wished me well.
It meant I could meet my Monday morning friend for an afternoon coffee and as we talked, I was delighted to receive an offer for my rental house - not the full asking price, but I’ve accepted it. There’s no chain, so fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. The dental ‘farce’ has now altered my plans for next week, so I’ll try to re-arrange some appointments.

I hope MD’s family illnesses/woes are improving - if only slightly - it’s a step forward. Her distress is palpable.
Thinking of the FGTs too.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a murky Leicestershire.

I have a blood test early this morning then DH is having his ears looked at this afternoon. I wish they could persuade him to wear his hearing aids!

I hope there is better news from Marydoll’s DiL. My DH went through a similar experience recently. He is doing really well now.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

dragonfly46 Tue 10-Feb-26 07:54:58

Happy Birthday Melanie.
